Well there are bribe takers and bribe givers. People do all sort of things for money when desperate.

Government marks building. Developers see it as call to go and settle. So they settle and the authorities look the other way.

When you eventually have someone who wants to enforce compliance, they get attacked by the people and also by their colleagues and ogas within the system whose palms have been greased.

So they abandon the compliance and look the other way too. Then other developers see that there is no consequence, so they gain confidence to continue to patronise their cronnies within the system.

Its a warped system. The only way out is to establish compliance no matter what. Enforce penalties and increase deterrent.

Then most developers too will fall in line, when they see that there is no alternative than do it right

I visited my 120-year-old grandmother and gave her some money when I was leaving and she told me she doesn't need money again.

That she can no longer buy or sell at her age, so I should give the money to the younger ones who need it.

I also have a former governor friend whom I worked with as a greenhorn PA. He was governor from 1999-2007.
Not too long ago, I saw him.

After check-in, he was left seated by the corner of the Murtala Mohammed international airport awaiting his flight.

No one even recognized him again, not even passengers from the State where he was governor, and as I walked up to him and greeted him, then asked if he wanted any assistance, he stretched forth his trembling hands to hold me and simply said,

"Thank you for even recognizing me again. I just want your attention briefly my daughter . Sit down let me ask you something.

How is your Governor doing?"

I also have a retired Major General friend whom I served as a golf caddy at the NDA golf course in Kurmi Mashi, Kaduna.
He was so rich he built a beautiful house he was so proud of.

I visited him too not long ago and wanted us to climb to our favorite spot on his balcony upstairs.

He stared at me with a broad smile and said, "IT, I can't remember the year I went up there. It is lizards and cobwebs and the likes that live there now.

Even the kids, when they come, they don't enjoy my company in the house any more than a few hours and they are gone.

I have seen a lot more things.

I believe many people won't mind doing the right thing but the process frustrates them. So they resort to shortcuts with the attendant risk of falling into the wrong hands.

Although not a defense for doing the wrong thing, but I feel pity for them. For others who are deliberate law breakers who would avoid due process even if presented with it, I have no pity.

Really? I know people locked out of their homes recently due to flooding for close to a week. The ones home could not come out, the ones outside could not come in.

I doubt there is any good time to correct something that is fundamentally wrong.

They were not assassinated, they were killed in a firefight between Israeli forces and armed Palestinians. One of them was a 16-year-old boy who was carrying a rifle and a grenade. The other was a 9-year-old boy who was caught in the crossfire. It's tragic, but it's not Israel's fault. It's the fault of those who started the shooting and endangered the lives of civilians.

Jenin is a hotbed of Hamas activity and a source of many terror attacks against Israel. Hamas has a strong presence in the West Bank. Israel has arrested dozens of Hamas operatives in the West Bank in recent weeks, including a spokesman and a senior leader. We're you asleep when all these was happening?

Obi was the only candidate that had almost 90% in his own zone without losing any state to opposition.

The eventual winner dashed two states where he even had more power to rig to opposition candidates and you are here shouting rigging......INEC couldn't even rigged their own headquarters for the winner.

The interesting part is watching some people who sees nothing wrong with the result in the SE turn around and accuse other Nigerians who voted for their own candidates of tribalism. For Christ sake, candidates from the SE and the NE both won states in the SW. Yet they broadly accuse the SW of tribalism.

Humans will be humans. Its not a Nigerian thing. Its a human thing.

Followed some of the Supreme Courts cases in the US for the past few years. Same story. Republicans bash the courts when it goes against their position and praise them it goes for them. Likewise the democrats.

There is no political or corporate system globally that the incumbent doesn't take strong interest in who will succeed him.

In fact, they are sometimes expected to mentor and groom someone for that role.
Granted that some of them do it for various reasons some of which could be selfish. But painting it as an evil system unique to Nigeria alone is just a matter of inferiority complex which many Nigerian unconsciously suffer from.

It is much easier to criticise others than take on the challenge yourself. Its a point I always remind myself of when I criticise other people's effort.

Lol. I doubt he needed to win most of the states in those zones, he only needed to make sure that even if he loses, he gets substantial votes to keep up with the popular votes. He achieved his goal. He won where he could and where he lost, he got enough votes to stay competitive.

People who are hell bent on arguing baselessly without fact that INEC got all the votes for him are just blinded by emotions. His strategy worked for him.

I doubt he would have gone ahead with the Muslim-Muslim ticket if Atiku had not decided to highjack the PDP ticket for another Northern rule.

You also only need to look at the pleadings of the opponents at the courts to see that even they did not invest their efforts arguing the results but seeking disqualification
