Nigerians don't know how government behaves. People are saying they must buy those cars. Story .it is a big loss to the owners. Government will keep posting them until the get tired. Don't pray to have any issue with any level of government as recovering back your asset destroyed is not possible |
Most renowned architects and lawyers behaves like the man in question. They always feel they are above the law. However, the government shouldn't have brought down the house in this manner. He should have been arrested and forced to cough out huge sums as compensation to FG for trespassing. |
This is my problem with some catholic priests. Agreed that they are human also but he should have controlled his anger. There a lot people like that woman that loiter round church premises in most catholic churches. I am a catholic and when bored, I visit the blessed sacrament for prayers and intercession. I see women lying down there, some with their kids and may looking at them, you will know that things are not going on well for them. The woman collected the money from the box usually placed in front of divine mercy altar for God's intercession which at the end, the money people dropped at the box are used to assist people like her. She had the guts to empty the box. She should have been counselled. Things are not balanced for some people. Cardinal Okogie or Adewale Martins of Lagos diocese will not take it likely with that priests if this happened in Lagos. Priests get away with a lot of things in the East. |
Igbere TV from Orji Kalu and now AtikuTv from Atiku. Ok naa |
MansoryMX:The quality of leadership is no difference from the quality of followership. That's why I laugh when people condemn our leaders. They are product of the society. They are from us. The way they think is the way the Nigerian society thinks. Their thought process before they were elected is the same as the average thought process of an average Nigerian. |
Nigeria and frivolities - Gigantic structure has no bearing with good and efficient service delivery. most government activities in UK are conducted in old brick/stone gothic ancient buildings but with excellent service delivery. We spend so much on structures without care on quality of services that would emanate from such building. Maintenance is another thing as our culture in this country does not align with proper maintenance. |
Nigeria's building styles and structures are just too sub standard in all ramification - Our lack of maintenance culture permeates every facet of our lives. |
StagethemTVee:Chei bro, your sense of remembrance na top notch. I watched that series. The Undertaker guy with that his fearful soundtrack and coffin was so terrifying then. As the guy entered, they will switch off light with the bang of a cathedral burial bell. The way Kamala tear race, it was spectacular. Wrestling is no more interesting walahi |
Wizygreat12:Dem use Tinubu swear for una?? |
mufutau55:Apt!! That is it - If it is cheaper, why are people not using it knowing fully well how cost conscious we could be in this country. Nice observation. |
twinskenny:That's where the confusion is. Dominionng said it is more expensive compare to POP and n3xt said it is cheaper. Both are experienced builders. |
n3xt:Impressive!!! I love it when things are expressed in numbers. We may have a deal on this job once we get to that stage. Plasterboards brings out the finest details in ceiling. Far neater and detailed when compared to POP. Thanks for this analysis. |
Wylout:Nice work you got there - But is plasterboard ceiling cheaper than POP? I like plaster board but was told that it is far more expensive than POP |
n3xt:I am thinking of using plaster board for my ceiling but have the impression that it is far more expensive than POP - But your analysis here is showing that it is quite competitive compared to POP - In summary, is it cheaper than POP? Overseas, they hardly use POP - They use boards mostly. |
Procontractor:I love the attention to details. That's what is lacking in most artisan works in Nigeria. Not paying attention to the smallest details. |
Elderly people, over weight and those with existing sickness should watch it in this corona season. keep our elderly people safe. |
drkay:I don't why this is generating so much issue. I agreed that he may not have managed my own situation well by not carrying me along. All my windows have been delivered and installed and I am very happy with the quality of the job - infact the best I have seen. I already had windows but opened up more walls for more windows. That was why I engaged him and not the former guy that earlier did my first window. The people within my neighborhood that are still building liked the precision and cleanliness of the windows collected his number for him to deliver for them. I am not the type that will crucify him because he delayed on the delivery time. Whatever may have happened between me and him, the fact that he delivered my work far beyond my expectation in terms of quality and detailing made me to forget about the anger I had before. As I said, I am not holding brief for him but I am talking from my own angle. If you feel you have issue with him, engage him to get it resolved. I don't know his transaction with the guy that sent him 3M and under what terms and conditions. Please I am always open- minded and I always exercise utmost caution when it comes to accusing someone of something. The good thing is that I have my windows already installed and I didn't stop others within my area from engaging him. As Hajji always say, do your due diligence. |
Juliearth:Very nice if one exist. It is necessary. Sometimes, when I take a look at some poor adolescent girls, I feel for them. You wonder how their daily lives goes. |
I feel for young girls from poor homes. Things that are supposed to be of necessity. Don't be surprise that some can't even afford tissue paper for their cycle. There are some ghettos you see and you imagine the kind of hygiene and sanitation they will apply in their toilets. Young and adolescent girls suffers a lot in that kind of places. One international NGO invited me to be part of team to carry out evaluation work on the effect of poverty and conflict on adolescent girls. But the location of the assignment made me not to participate even though the pay was ok. Girls from poor background deserves monetary or in kind assistant in seeing off their cycles. Just to mention, when I was in Scotland, there was an NGO called "Capability Scotland". They support young poor girls and physically challenged adults with vouchers that they could use to buy sanitary pads and tissue paper at Tesco supermarket. The voucher can't be used to buy any other thing in the supermarket except sanitary pads. I wished an NGO in Nigeria could copy this kind of assistance. |
Who is Ireland? Joint statement from Germany, UK and France would have made more sense. That's how those European powers act if they want to put you under pressure, they will issue joint statement to send a clear signal. The worst will be if Pompeo, US secretary of state now issues his own or the white house press secretary, then know that your matter don pass be careful |
Our standards are terribly low in this country. Every facets of our lives have been bastardized. This has even made our people to start accepting low standards things as normal. Some uninformed persons have already started commenting " nice one". I ask what is nice about the archaic and antiquity zoo shown in that place. Please take time and look at other people's zoos talk more of school of wildlife. |
They saw a technocrat in the person of Dr. Alex Otti to be voted as a governor and they went for someone else. Election has consequences. Nigerian electorates are the least informed in the whole world. Always influenced by mundane things. They should face it. Shabi na una say na de turn of Ngwa man to be governor? Ngwanu!, o setigo |
Waste of money and resources - God punish Nigerian politicians. Please focus on human capacity development and productive transformation of individual status and communities - These are the things that will banish poverty and not white elephant projects. How many planes will land in Ebonyi state? It is the planes and private jets of politicians and governors that will be landing there Focus on capacity building for people and not all these billion white elephant projects that the Indians and Lebanese will end up putting up a poor quality work. The money Anambra and Ebonyi are using to build airports could put all roads and public water works to good standard and rehabilitate all the village primary and secondary schools that are dilapidated. But as usual, their praise singers will come after me. Who cares? |
Uae01Dirham:You sabi them. I hate to encounter any security agent with tribal marks. They are the most tribalistic, crude and backwards in their dealings with others. |
My Dad's favourite then. With Stephen Osita Osadebe's "People's club" music track playing, the man would take down bottles of life larger in the 80's. ![]() |
My concern is not even the camels, it is about the quality of the school in the background. Our leaders are damm wicked!! Imagine the kind of pupils that will come out from this kind of environment. Environment has a way of moulding character and behaviours. Our educational environment is always the worst. |
First time seeing an open gutter in an European country. Throughout my stay in Europe, I never saw any Naija-style open gutter. From the university pictures shown, I could see one , though very neat unlike the Naija type with all sorts of dirty water and plastics. |
CAPSLOCKED:You said it better. Ignorance among Christians folks in Nigeria is sickening. The way our religious leaders, pastors and priests elevates Israel as holy land makes me sad. Very racist set of people. I am a Catholic and during lenten period, there is a section of our lenten liturgy where we say prayer for Israel, invoking God's blessings on them for being the first to receive the good news (ie word of God). For what exactly? Even if they were the first, things have changed. My Igbo brothers would be here worshipping anything Israel but don't know how their people are being maltreated over there despite their claim of so called jewish connection. Israel will have issues with their Arab neighbours and some Nigerians will be siding them because they are "Gods" people. Who told you that? |
Badgers14:What I meant is that my toilet, stores and some other smaller places have single iron protector. This single iron protector could easily be broken under intense pressure if you are in emergency situation and wants to eject or exit the building. You break the protector and exit. This will be difficult with those strong iron protectors embedded inside the window walls. However, if your area is prone to armed robbery and burglary attacks, please safety first. Go for strong iron protectors and cover the whole place ![]() |
qdlvy:You can decide to use rectangular - horizontal windows instead of the tiny vertical commonly used here despite the fact that our weather is hot. The reason for the tiny windows are cost as the windows are billed based on the measurement. I used 2600x1400 rectangular sliding windows for rooms and lesser measurements for other places. As for the burglary, I use the normal white horizontal pipes. Maximum of 4 for downstairs windows and just two and one for upstairs. In my upstairs, I used single white iron pipe for toilet and some other smaller places. My burglary is just to protect my kids from falling from the windows and not for a thief. ![]() I hate the crude and un aesthetically appealing burglaries use in Nigeria. It makes the windows looks crude. You will see a high rise building with burglary everywhere and I asked for what exactly. Will an armed rubber climb up to that length of building to steal. If given way, I will do away with the burglary thing and leave my windows like that. Any thief that remembers me, I wll host him and offer him drink ![]() See one of the large windows I did and it will carry only 3 straight white horizontal pipes that will align with the white window blinds that I will put so that when the window blinds are open, it will cover the white burglary pipe somehow. Also consider emergency exit when designing your burglary. You shouldn't just have the thief in mind when designing your window protector, consider also emergency situations on how to eject or exit the building.

Nigeria is a pit of corruption. Greed will kill all of us. It is not about the law maker, it is about the Nigerian system. The law makers are made from us. Our value system need to change and be growth and progressive oriented. These guys travel abroad and see development and yet will come and continue in the profligacy and wastages without caring about the masses. They want the masses to continue to worship them. Those outside the government are even worse as they are waiting for the opportunity to pounce on the common treasury and steal a hell out of the coffers. |
Nigerian senior lawyers and money. When you go to his chambers now, he is paying his young and junior lawyers 20k per month. I know a lady that has been complaining bitterly about her meager pay as a lawyer. As at the time I did a call center job back in 2005, I was earning 90k per month then why she was earning a little above 15k in one senior lawyer chamber. More than 15 years down the line, she is not earning up to 50k in the chamber where she is when I have move on speedily on career ladder. I told her to set up her chamber and start with estate and building management at least with my town people that have properties here in Lagos. Today she is managing 3 buildings, less than five months after going solo. Recently, a land was sold at Amuwo Odofin and she got 5% legal fee of about 350k which was her 7 months salary when she was toying in one man's chamber. Some times, you have to leave your comfort zone to pursue your dream. |
