Honestly, I wished I could help at this time. I am an independent consultant and move around seeking for opportunities and clients. However, if there is anything, I will always assist. The job I mentioned in the North Central is still a consultancy work. I was asked to go there by the NGO and carry out an evaluation which I am not certain if I could go and do. Though I need the money but security is paramount to me.

You didn't read well. If you did, you would have understood what I typed. The company employed graduates from the community. Most of the lower staff are also from the community. But the youth leaders won't hear these. They want their own clique or members to be employed and given contracts that they are not qualified to do. Who does that?

These kind of news always makes me fear certain aspect of my job. I am scheduled to be in one state in the North central region to carry out an assessment and outcome evaluation for an NGO as a consultant. They do provide us with MOPOL and escort but in this situation, escorts are usually incapable of stopping these kind of banditry attacks.

Rivers state has the highest number of "lazy" youths. Everything in that state is all about youth this, youth that. The protest happened because the leadership of the youth was part of those sacked. It is not that they were doing anything for Shell, yet they were being paid as contract workers.

My client in Onne faces the same thing. Community youth leaders bringing list of grossly unqualified touts to be employed even when the company informed them that certain number of graduates from the community have been employed but the youths would still insists on imposing their people on the company.

Today, the company have shut down their administrative and executive office in PH and moved to Lekki phase two. Only the technical staff servicing clients are left in PH.

This is why it is sometimes good to maintain your cool even under serious provocation especially in Nigeria.

We see these kind of things at the ATM, filling station, supermarkets or places where staying on a queue is necessary.

Being cool and patient doesn't mean you are weak. It is just to avoid trouble. Even my wife sometimes accuses me of being too soft and weak in matters like this, not fighting for your right. Well said! It pains me when I see the behavior of average Nigerian. Go to where we live, people dump refuse any house and throw things out from their windows and cars. Just imagine. We are faced with a whole of issues in this country aside the obvious economic issues. My brother, you need to pay a visit to a fellow African country of Namibia. The Capital city Windhoek was a marvel city to me and I started wondering why we are the way we are in Nigeria. The order and discipline I saw there was second to non and do you know what: They are poor but the government is well and alive to their responsibilities. Even the areas inhabited by the poor still had access and neat street with light. You could see well paved pedestrian walkways and flower pots in those lower income areas.

My people, work harder so that your children do not near the gate of any Nigerian University. As for me, the project is on course and I am doing everything possible to realize that dream for them. Our government and those in power have all left us behind to rot and kill ourselves.

Their children are in Universities abroad, spending our money. I pity the poor masses. However, all blames should not go to the government alone. Nigerian people are the worst when it comes to cleanliness and maintenance. We lack maintenance culture. Even if you build a world class hostel there, come in years time, you will be shocked by the level of degradation.

Students in Nigerian universities are one of the worst indiscipline, forming G-guys and hardman and not maintaining decency and decorum.

So na woman follow born this one and they did child dedication when he was born and celebrated with family for his arrival

Reading through the comments on this thread shows how poor many Nigerian youths of today have become due to bad APC government that now make it seem impossible for a young youth in Nigeria to become financially successful without committing crime, that's poverty mentality, and its heartbreaking to see that our youths have been subdued mentally to think poverty and failure is the right way of life

Money is not that hard.

Many Igbo guys start early to hustle; doing petty business, traveling to different parts of the world taking risk to explore new business opportunities in far away lands and bringing solutions to problems of local communities which fetch them money.


With internet technology today, any enterprising and smart youth can become rich easily trading things online, building product brands and solving problems.

I have watched some friends rose from ashes of poverty and financial lack to the crest of financial success to the dismay of people that knew them years back, and these people feel these guys did money ritual but I know them personally and I know what they are into.


I have mentored some ladies too into becoming financial success and an envy of their fellow ladies, all these things are possible.

Let's stop attributing every successful person's death to spiritual stuff, its not always so.


Anybody can die anytime.

I wished they could listen to this sermon. Youths have been brainwashed by the SARS and EFCC media . You could still make it while young. You mentioned different scenario that could kill a young rich and enterprising youth. This type of thing is common in Igbo land among successful youths.

My dear, If I tell you say I know, na lie - My knowledge of building na from this thread and asking questions. I don't know if Satin paint is used for exterior walls. Note that Satin is not a brand but a product type. The building gurus in this thread will definitely intervene.

If you are building your house to live in yourself, you can tile only wet areas.
But if u are building for renting, oga, just tile every where else u will use all the rent the tenant paid to carry out renovation after he/she has gone. Some tenants are pigs in human shape.

You are right! Nigerian tenants could mess up apartments big time.

Nigerians are fond of wasting tiles in name of protecting the wall from water and moisture, it's no longer rocket science that satin based paints are specially made for kitchen, bathroom or wet areas, you can clean them....unless they don't exist in Nigeria.

Correct! You got the name, Satin. I had to ask them the type of paint and they said satin. I deliberately stained the wall with my liquid polish to see what happens after cleaning and the wall appeared neat like that after wiping out the black polish on the wall. You wont even noticed that I applied polish on the wall where I cleaned.

The guest house cleaner is also on top of his job. Every morning, he looks out for stains and uses wet neat white clothes to wipe out any dirt on the wall. But mehn, PH people dey hear am with this back soot of a thing. If you touch any smooth surface, na so black your hand go turn to. Touch doors or car surfaces outside, you will pick black ash.

I didn’t do that in my personal build and Buhari has not arrested me and I’ve never had to complain about using very expensive tiles.

I have the dry and wet areas in the kitchen.

Pic 1 & 2 shows the wet and the dry area.

My brother, too much sense no go kill you. That was what came to my mind. I was in a guest house in PH and that beautiful expensive tile was only done on the wet side of the kitchen. The whole kitchen was painted in an immaculate shiny and beautiful white paint.

Same with the bathroom. Only the bath area (cubicle) and wash hand basin had these beautiful Spanish carrara tiles. You don't need to tile the whole wall. It is common in Nigeria. Check out houzz website, you hardly see tiles on the whole kitchen.

Men, I will use that tile for my area but just in a small wet place. The other places will be painted. That's why I smooth-plastered my kitchen and bathroom so that I would have option painting most part. I am not going to tile the whole space.
