I love the British system - their politics and institutions |
Story!!!! Nigeria should not even think of setting net zero carbon emission target when the power sector is still in shambles. We have to fix our electricity first. Secondly, our public transportation system, a major source of greenhouse gas emissions, is nothing to write home about. Rickety vehicles and trucks, emitting dangerous gases to the atmosphere. Thirdly, there is no enforcement of environmental laws in place. You see people burning tyres, incinerators, refuse and dangerous materials in the open air, thus, releasing even more dangerous nitrous gases. We are good in chasing shadows just to conform to the western world's norms. African countries should work hard towards eradicating poverty and providing to electricity to their people, whether clean energy or not. As long as it is able to power their appliances and homes. Fossil fuels and coal powered the industrial revolution of the western world to where they are today. They used cheap coal and fossils fuel to power their economies and are now forcing the concept of climate change and renewable down our throats. Agreed, climate change is real but those that have benefited from use of cheap fossil fuels in the past should do more to support developing countries towards meeting the so called net zero carbon emission target. They should invest in renewable energy projects in developing countries and fund the transition to renewable energy in developing countries. Make no mistake about this. The cost of energy transition is not cheap. Developing countries cannot use scarce resources to build expensive dams and solar fields instead of cheaper gas turbines and coal, which are in abundance in developing countries. |
The usual knee-jack reaction in everything. Why shot down the school when other pupils needs the school to function?? Arrest those culpable and leave other innocent students and teachers to continue their daily activities. The responsible teacher that took the pupils to the swimming class at the hotel should be charged to court, including the hotel owners for gross negligence. Others should not suffer because of the negligence of the few. |
Choi, bald men every where. See how they are searching for solutions. Baldness could make you look manly and strong if you have thick beards to match. If you are bald and have beards, you look super. But if you are bald and without single strain of hair on your face, na OYO. |
Misogynists everywhere!!! Most men that stereotypes women are usually frustrated, broke and unable to get their kind of girls. Nairaland has elevated the bashing of female folks to another level. Some ladies that could not bear the bashing have quietly left the platform. There is too much bullying of our ladies here. Mods, please take note. |
Ambassador/Diplomat. But now, I work for clients as a Chartered Accountant and development consultant |
Yeyeoldman:You are right. I followed up that story. Trump was the US president then and the US government immediately brought the lady back home from UK without the British government doing anything. Imagine if the culprit was a citizen of another country? |
Making of a country or City is by the quality of people living there. Sadly, the quality of humans living in Nigeria is terribly low. Driving through Lagos roads gives one an idea of the type of human beings one is sharing the country with. Our attitudes towards the environment and public places is the worst I have ever seen. Our cities and towns are the worst I have ever seen. Don't even mention Abuja to me. You could still see traces of Nigerian touches in the city. |
Yet, the mainstream media are quoting only 18 people that died. They didn't even give it any much coverage. See how everywhere is littered with corpses. The continent has failed its people. |
Realists:I am sure you didn't understand the message you are quoting. |
Why did they use Uguwuanyi's picture instead of Lawan in the first pictures? Na because two of them resemble ba? |
jeeqaa7:See them! Dem don start their social media voting. |
PENNYSWAP:Obi should have remained loyal to Atiku. I am still at a loss on how he thinks he would win. He seems to be over estimating himself and his Popularity. Outside the SE, Obi does not command any mass following. His supporters are busy insulting every body, thinking that by being vocal online, he would get the vote. The man made the worse political mistake of his life. |
helinues:SE always behaves childish and emotional when it comes to national politics. You are right by your submission. They have willingly schemed themselves out of reckoning. The idiotic Obi does not even know the damage he has done to SE in the incoming political dispensation. He allowed his emotions to get the better of him by resigning from PDP, and to make it worse, joined a party without any capacity to win election. |
You hardly hear this kind of thing in the north. Every where is registration center. I heard something today on Nigerian info FM this afternoon. An INEC registration machine was brought down from Adamawa state to Lagos to register some indigen of Adamawa that are residents in Lagos. The citizens of the state are expected to travel back to Adamawa during election to vote. The machine cannot be used to register any other voter except people from Adamawa state. Chukwudi of Nigerian info shock sef when the caller narrated this story in his area. That the machine is currently in his area in Lagos, registering only Adamawa state indigens. |
I am his supporter but this exercise seems too early. He should focus on building his election campaign machinery and the necessary contacts. |
Peter Obi is the best candidate in this election. However, the reality on ground does not project him to win. Honestly, I do not understand the permutations and the algorithm his supporters are using. Sentiments, emotions and outright blackmail do not guarantee electoral victory. The concept of "We Vs. Them", is not the right approach to campaigning, which sadly, his supporters are deploying. Some of his campaigners are even alienating other people who believed in his candidacy away. We need to face reality and understand how elections works. He may tick all the good qualities but elections are worn by numbers. This is why I respect BAT. He understands the system and goes all out to get his result, come what may. Peter is just basking on the euphoria of social media attention and when reality sets in, his supporters will start shouting and insulting everybody. Peter does not have the necessary political structure to win a presidential election in the present day Nigeria. A handful of vocal online supporters do not guarantee numbers in the actual election. Alliances and friendships have to be built at the highest level of political set up. This is NIGERIA!!!!! |
This is the kind of thing I wish for my lovely daughter. I wished I could get her contact to mentor my daughter. I love girls/ladies/women that are goal getters; smart and brilliant |
Obi's bet would have been to stay with Atiku. Atiku seems to like the guy but the way Obi's supporters are pushing him, thinking that the whole Nigerians are with them the way social media are hyping the man. Outside the SE, the few professional working class and independent minded voters, Obi still does not command enough power to sway people. Among the three leading candidates, he is my preferred choice but politics is not by sentiments. He needs to go out there and build alliances. |
That would be the biggest mistake ever. Wike is good no doubt but the man is not a humble person. He would create more enemies for Atiku through his unguarded utterances. Atiku may be shooting himself if he decides to give the VP slot to Wike. |
I doubt if Atiku will pick some one as ambitious as Wike for a VP slot. |
Worst time to live in Nigeria. Things are seriously becoming extremely difficult. Small businesses are crying because of inadequate power. Profits are being eroded by excessive reliance on generators and diesel to power their businesses. Insecurity has chased our investors and unemployment situation is projected to worsen in the coming years. |
He did not live to enjoy his after years service. Those that did not work for the money will inherit the man's sweat and squander his money or loot depending on if they were acquire legitimately or not. |
This is the worst time to be a security operative in Nigeria. They are exposed to lots of dangers. The FG have failed and Nigeria federation have been taken over by bandits, terrorists and kidnappers. My worry for the future generation. How will they live in a country called Nigeria in the coming years as the situation gets even worse. |
signature2012:SE alone cannot make a president. You people have not learnt your lessons, politically. There is no need insulting other people or foisting your intentions on them. Build alliances and give a handshake. The way some people from SE are going about this Peter Obi thing is alienating others that believes in him. He should be marketed well and not demarketed as most people are doing. |
From what I understood about the OP's post, he wants the wife to enroll in nursing program here in Nigeria, get the qualification and use it to start applying for nursing jobs in those countries he mentioned. He didnt intend that the wife would be abroad with the kids, studying nursing. When she eventually gets job overseas, she would relocate with the kids. His intentions are not bad at all. There are families like that, where the man is working in Nigeria and the wife is in Canada working and living with their kids. |
Who is deceiving this Lawan of a man? Lame duck senate president. Notwithstanding, this is Nigeria. Like joke, like joke, all the Northern delegates will vote for him, while the Southern aspirants shares their own vote. Fear North! |
To enter car wey malam dey drive dey fear me die.. I remember my NYSC in 2004 in Kano, when we went to visit our fellow Catholic Corpers serving in remote villages in Kano. I held my breath throughout the journey. See how Aboki was overtaken trailers and stationaries vehicles. It was even one rickety car like that, that we hired for the journey. What a risk ![]() |
Women from my place and maltreatment of house girls are like bread and butter. They don't seem to disappoint, especially the nursing mothers among them. The annoying part is the nonchalant attitudes of their husbands to the torture of their house maids. |
Where are those idiots from SE in this forum that are always defending the indefensible. See how they have turned once peaceful SE to a laughing matter. Whoever is supporting IPOB and their Modus operandi is sick. SE economy is crumbling before our very eyes. I recently visited Onitsha and saw how a once liveliable city is fast decaying. I remembered the multiple storeys buildings that lined up the length and breadth of the city. Those multi storey buildings are now so dilapidated that the current generation that inherited the assets from their fathers do not have money to maintain them. Roads are the worst I have seen in recent years. Onitsha is decaying and the city is a shadow of its former self. |
Fake news everywhere. I knew that the message never came from OHANEZE. There are people bent on causing havoc to the nation The PDP primary has been won and lost. The Southern politicians should blame themselves and not north. Many delegates from the South voted for Atiku. People are here blaming Tambuwal for stepping down for Atiku for North to clinch the post. 80% of delegates from SW voted for Atiku; 60% of delegates from SS voted for Atiku against their own Wike while 90% of delegates from SE voted for Atiku against their own Anyim and Ohabunwa. So, we do we blame? We are here lambasting the North and Tambuwal |
EKWENSU!!!! Greedy idiots with his Michelin Tyre neck |
