I graduated with a first class in engineering. Today, I am a qualified Chartered Accountant, having worked in an investment bank for more than 13 years before setting up my own independent consultancy in Finance and Management Consulting. Prospect of growth abound in finance related field than engineering. Most of my class mate engineers are languishing in local workshops and factories with nothing to show. Some moved on to pursue personal businesses. They were few that really broke into the so called oil and gas and other juicy engineering position. The transferable skills that my engineering background gave me is quantitative skills and strong aptitude for numbers.

However, if you intend to move abroad, retain the engineering and pursue it to the fullest. Those with such qualifications always fits into the developed world's environment. Lastly, please leave women and face you hustle. Do not allow any distraction to get into your way.

One of our family doctors here in Nigeria, a pediatrics surgeon, graduated at the age of 33. He clocked 45 year this year and was one of the successful doctors taken by the Saudis when they came to Nigeria early this year to recruit doctors and health workers. In medicine, age does not really matter. The lady my wife stayed with when she went to US to give birth was still working as a nurse at the age of 35 because she has Bachelors degree in nursing and was looking to go to medical school to qualify as a doctor. She recently passed out from the medical school, qualifying as a full doctor at the age of 43.

Please remain focus and graduate. Except if you are having some academic problems.
