Buying FGN bonds via Stanbic is quite frustrating, the branches don't do it, they need to call their stock broking unit, the unit will require funding their stockbroking account with minimum of N5m, they may delay opening CSCS account for you while holding on to your funds for two weeks.

That's the issue. And no how to meet their stock broking unit except through the branches.

I am looking for a good broker/asset manager that has a branch office in Abuja who deals with FGN Bonds, Treasury Bill, Cooperate Bonds, Commercial Papers and Private Placement. My broker Morgan doesn't do more than FGN Savings Bond and SUKUK.

I was frustrated by Stanbic IBTC Bank today. Last week I went to a branch in Wuse 2 and was told there will be an auction this week. I was also told to visit a particular branch ( Garki Branch) early on Tuesday. Only to get there today and find that all the staff there are just novice to many things or just pretending to be Ignorant.

I put a call through to their customer service and the guy that picked promised to call back. I went further to mail them but didn't get a reply. The guy later called back and was trying to tell me TB rates. I reminded him it was FG Bond I discussed with him earlier. Then he said he was going to call back again but didn't.

I went to a GTB closeby and was told to call my account officer. First time I will try such. He picked and was like hello sir., hello sir.. and before I know, he complained he couldn't hear me and cut the call. I tried calling back but he wouldn't pick. Then I went to a First Bank branch and was told that they have not been adviced on it for now. That I should drop my number so he can call me back whenever they reply..All to no avail.

So I need to have more brokers for flexibility. Cashcraft used to be an alternative untill it trapped it's customers. Abeg anybody that knows any good one should please help me with name ooo...

A sober reflection with respect to what is happening in Afghanistan

Afghanistan is in crisis and most likely a new government will be formed. The instability will go on for a long time, the government to be likely formed by the Talibans determines everything concerning the country.

Now imagine all the domestic and foreign loans taken by the previous Afghan govt, it is most likely a default in repayments will occur, investors are leaving, foreigners are leaving, the currency is sharply losing value.

Now talk of the devil, Nigeria. If such happens in Nigeria, the same fate will befall the investors in bonds, Treasury bills, foreign loans. The value of assets will nosedive, as you invest locally it is unfortunate the need to diversify outside the shores of the country is necessary.

What if in a bid to diversify the country I invested in was Aghanistan or like it? What if the citizens of Afghanistan invest in other country but do not survive or tried to leave the country and die in the process then the country is later reorganised and the leadership decide to take are of its obligation...?

Bros you won’t understand why I said what I said, I wasn’t even referring to the masters part. I am just tired of Nigerian way of education, all we do is write exams upon exams and nothing to show for it in the educational sector. Hi, welcome.. lots of discussion have been done about it in the past. The general known to convert was by buying directly from Bureau De Change (BDC). However, recently the CBN have stopped the supply to BDCs and instead ask people to buy from bank instead. The headache there now is that unlike BDC where you can just go and buy what you want without question, the will restrict customers to an amount. You would also follow a process before buying/converting.

With what was discussed here in recent past and the present economic situation, just having your funds in USD is enough to beat inflation and devaluation. The only worry would be how to keep it safe if it is in your custody. That said, you can also invest it in FG Euro Bond if it is upto the minimum required or Euro Bond Funds with asset managers to increase it.

These are just the basics...

Candidly, I am advising you not to continue marketing the Scheme to people except na Una family business and you are ready to share in the consequences. That is because when it goes sore, those that the scheme harm may want to harm you in return. The penalty for premature liquidation is mostly in the rate the investment was made and the rate it was disposed at the time of liquidation. It is a discounted investment of which interest was discounted at the time of investing.

It is not like fixed deposit or Mutual Funds where the accrued interest will gather with the capital till the maturity/agreed date. For these, there are stated penalties depending on the financial institutions. This penalties are often limited to the interests earned alone and not with the capital.

this is not a money doubling scheme or MMM or what have you. We have various sector such as agriculture, real estate, oil and gas people can invest in and as such, their investment is tentatively turned into shares and they are also constructively called shareholders but without any liability because their investment is insured by leadway assurance plc. If you invest 1m, you will get back your investment with interest after a year or 2years, dependent on the time you want to invest your money in. This is not a money doubling scheme and please do your research properly before coming online to defame other people's names and bizz because of your ignorance. Don't act like a simpleton. Thanks

It is a Citizens right to report ANY MATTER to the Police.
It is the duty of the Police to DECIDE if that matter is within their jurisdiction.
We should not also forget that a matter that starts as "Civil", might quickly degenerate to a Criminal matter and as long as the Police has a Duty to maintain "Law and Order", they can intervene in ANY MATTER that threatens Law and Order or "liable" to cause Breach of Public Peace.
A "Debt" cab also be a criminal matter, depending on how the Debt came about.
If you "obtained someone by trickery", you are owing the said person by the amount you defrauded him but under EFFC Act, that is a Criminal offense and the Police/EFCC Officers will surely drag the 'Debtor'/

If the Creditor starts dragging the Man that owes him and the Police feels it is liable to cause a breach of public Peace, the Police can intervene, ask the Debtor to py up or make arrest, all in an effort to maintain "Law and Order".

I think the person who started this thread is trying to send a message out, that the person(s) his is owing, cant arrest him with Police or use the Police to make him pay them.

True police belong to the executive arm and court the judiciary. Also true is that debt recovery and other civil matters are the responsibility of the Judiciary.

However, it is only the executive arm that has the capability to enforce.

What then happens if a debtor that has the money and capacity to refuse to pay even after the court pronouncement and several promise to pay but failed..?

Though functions are defined for all the arms of government, non can work in isolation..

That amount to about N20,833.5 monthly rent which is about 26.04 % of you salary. You are going to pay light bill and water bill depending, you are to transport to your work place too. If you are just starting life and that's your new house it will need furnishing. Then you are to feed, cloth and probably take care of little family depending. Not forgetting that you are to still save some part of that money.
