For example, most flights entering Sal (Cape Verde) are from the west, only a few are from within Africa. And also, native Cape verdians for example are like Brazillians, or mulattos, due to centuries of ethnic mixing.

So native Cape verdians themselves are almost like whites, and they are your geographical neighbors. The world is very big, leave Nigerian and get lost somewhere. It will get hard as you grow older, and more responsibilities piles up.

So dont just wish for something, work towards it and fight to have the kind of life you want. That is why you are a man with tetesterone, and have legs not roots like a tree. Move.
You are a thorough thinker.

P.S. It is hard to establish residence in Cape Verde or enter the country without a concrete reason as a Nigerian passport holder.

Mumbo-jumbo! Your post is fake. Mention the name of the bank he worked in Nigeria, his erstwhile position and the name of the skyscraper he cleans in the UK.

Do you live in the UK? Average salary of sky scrapper cleaner is 23k per annum (This could be higher depending on the company). As an ex bank manager, he has other prospects and an opportunity to land a dream job that could give 49.9k per annum, I dont think any bank manager makes that in Nigeria. His only expenses in UK is accomodation, feeding, transportation and visa renewal which would be done by the home office except health surcharges.
All investments will be made in Naira/ thats what we call foreign remittances, I dont know if Nigerians have stated taking GBP for buying houses or buying lands. Investments in Nigeria are done solely in naira.
If he paid 20% tax and only left with 10k Pounds per annum, he still have 20m saved for the year.
He is on his way to Citizenship in 5 years, easier relocation to USA and Canada. Now tell me what you can achieve as a manager here in your shithole without embezzling money
A bank manager out-earns a skyscraper cleaner in the UK, judging from PPP. The comparison is an apple-to-orange comparison. Hence, it is senseless. That is why the original post is false. A bank manager in Nigeria, if he decides to attend school, runs an MBA at London Business School and becomes an investment banker or management consultant. LBS does not admit people who eventually become skyscraper cleaners.

Again, your cleaner spends in pounds, not naira. And should he decide to send remittances instead of improving his income, he is bound to be poorer in the UK. Read about the black tax.

I don't have to work in a bank to know your tale is mumbo-jumbo and false. No banker who got employed via graduate trainee recruitment gets to work in the UK as a cleaner. Unless village people, it is not possible!

It seems you are mistaking contract staff in the banks for actual bankers. Banking job is a good one if employed via the bank's standard graduate recruitment process.

His standard of living has fallen off. He spends pounds in the UK, not in Nigeria. So why convert pounds to naira as if he is spending in naira?! The tale is false. But let's assume it is remotely true, the living standards of a bank manager in Nigeria is FAR HIGHER than a cleaner in the UK. For proper comparisons, you compare a cleaner in Nigeria to a cleaner in the UK. A bank manager in Nigeria to a bank manager in the UK.

De-choice mall is close to Ibom plaza and Uniuyo town campus. So there's population and patronage there.
Yeah. Even though parking space is small, the human traffic is high. MSQ's location is a lit bit tucked inside a secluded place. Although, I feel the management of MSQ is looking towards when Akwa Ibom's population will be higher and more diverse than it is currently.

You're most likely right on MSQ using profit from their other locations to sustain their Uyo branch.

You know, ShopRite were the initial anchor tenants in mind for the mall before they pulled out (likely after conducting due diligence & market survey) & MSQ came in; I still struggle to understand the business decision behind their choice of coming to Uyo. While they enjoy sales (profitablity is what I don't know), other business owners inside the mall are seriously struggling.
As expected. There were many businesses that had no reason to be there. I knew the rents would be high since it is a landmark destination and building, but some of the services offered by these businesses were priced so low due to poor patronage. So, I wondered how they would breakeven, let alone generate profit.

As per De Choice, I think they've been able to maintain a firm grip on their market share; which still tracks back to my point earlier that most people who visit the mall go there for sight seeing more than shopping. It's also a "status" symbol/showoff kinda thing. Most of them would rather patronize De Choice, INELs or any other indigenously owned business for their basic shopping needs.
MSQ's items were priced higher than De Choice, INELS and the numerous supermarkets around. Really, the city had (I don't know of now) TOO MANY supermarkets for the small population and low purchasing power. That city and the wider state need factories and warehouses, not supermarkets. All sell the same item. No product differentiation due to low purchasing power and a largely homogenous population.

How do you prove the authenticity of this result?

This is why electronic transmission of results was introduced as law but INEC disregarded it and reverted to manual (manipulation)

Tinubu simply bought the presidential election and Obi aligning with Atiku wouldn't have changed anything just like it didn't change in 2019.

And it's also surprising that nobody calls G-5 governor for working against their party. At least the rigging Wike did for Tinubu in Rivers is mind boggling. If Atiku had aligned with Obi, how would that have stopped Wike from doing what he did?

Na WA oh
Even if it was a free and fair election, the highest would have been a re-run. I didn't expect PO to win outrightly when KK had an entire state to himself with an Atiku eating into traditional votes. The best outcome would have been a combined effort to oust Buhari.

Regarding the bold, Atiku and Saraki teamed up with then APC in 2015 to remove Jonathan. So, it is karma. I am even happy that Tinubu deceived them and seized power.

There's what I would call "shopping" culture; it's prevalent in Lagos & Abuja that you mentioned but absent in some states.

For instance, Market Square in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State (also known as Ibom Tropicana) may also face the same challenge in some few years to come if nothing drastic is done about the very poor shopping culture there; I know this because I used to run a multi-national retail business there. Most people who visit market square in Uyo come for sight-seeing & to take fancy photos. Outside Christmas, New Year, Easter & a few other public holidays where people troop in to the mall (don't forget that most of them only come to take photos or experience the escalator), any other day, the place has very very poor footfall.

It's the same thing in Kano inspite of their very large population. Now, you may get some things in ShopRite cheaper than what you get in major markets in Abuja (don't know about Lagos as I rarely visit there or even know about their markets), but you see Kano? If ShopRite sells a particular item let's say for N100 in Abuja while Wuse or Utako or even Garki market sells same for let's say again, N85-N90, in Kano markets, that same item or a similar one (different brand) may be selling for N60-N75.

You've major distributors in Kano's markets whose major concern is sales volume/faster turnover than actual profit making; some of them receive goods from the manufacturers to resell at distributorship price (if it normally takes 3 weeks for e.g to sell same goods in other places, they'd rather "crash" the price & sell off completely in a week, collect their "incentives" from the manufacturers, place another order & the cycle continues. It's a unique selling strategy common among some major distributors in Kano markets; this, I believe is a major factor that attracts many traders from neighboring countries to Kano to purchase goods.

That's what I mean. I would love to go into many more instances of Kano's unique markets & their pricing structures but time won't permit me.

Modified: the highlighted on your response? They don't come for shopping in ShopRite, they come for massive bulk purchases from the many large markets in Kano (Singer, Kantin-Kwori, Yankura, Rimi etc).
I had to quote everything. Thanks for your perspective.

Regarding the bold, the previous government leased the store to private investors. So Market Square is different from Ibom Tropicana as a whole. Just as ShopRite Ikeja is different from the ICM. At a point, the cinema there thrived on AKSG subsidy as very people patronised it except when major movies such as Wedding Party was released. So, I wonder why Market Square opened there. Maybe he is targeting when the state becomes more populous than when it entered the market. Using Port-harcourt's profits to sustain Uyo sort of. What is your opinion on De Choice Mall?

Why is it that shop right is doing very well in places like Lagos, Akure, Ibadan and portharcourt?
The answer is very simple.
The environment gives shopright to strife . There is no Islamic police to arrest people taking alcohol in the shop.
How can a business survive without tolerance .?
Sales of alcohol is not allowed. No party hall is accommodated.
And ,you want to collect tax. Who does that?
But some respondents have stated that Sahad stores thrive as well with no alcohol sold. Does alcohol make up a big percentage of a mall's revenue?

Why the exit of ShopRite, Ado Bayero Mall is unfortunate, it has little to do with your highlighted point. I live in Kano and I have patronized them severally. One of the challenges being faced at ShopRite (Kano Branch) is long waiting time for you to make payment. On the counter, you only have 2-3 people attending to customers. This discourage patronage. What I think really dealt a big blow to ShopRite in Kano is the enormous availability of Malls in every corner whose price of goods are extremely competitive. Sufi Mart just opened a new branch just directly opposite ShopRite.
Long waiting times to pay: one might say employ more hands, but why do so when the patronage is low?

Other malls opened: argument would be drive them out of business by lowering ShopRite's prices since ShopRite is bigger. Walmart does this a lot when it opens in a new location with many small stores.

Anyway, thanks for your response.

P.S. Why While the exit of ShopRite

Anyone who knows the Ado Bayero Mall in Kano & the below average patronage it receives from Kano residents and visitors alike, would've known that this day would eventually come.

Have you seen the number of hugely successful, highly patronized & affordable markets in Kano State? Markets that attract visitors from neighboring countries such as Niger, Chad, etc apart from pastries, frozen foods, sea food & junk food, there's nothing ShopRite sells that you wont find in most of these big markets in Kano & at far cheaper rates than what obtains inside the mall.

Nonetheless, I feel for those who are about to become unemployed due to this business decision by ShopRite; I wish them best of luck for the future.
So, how come ShopRite thrives in Abuja and Lagos? I want to assume the one at Ikeja City Mall is the most successful and profitable store. Are residents in Lagos & Abuja not patronising local markets again? You will want to mention population, but remember, you said people from Niger and Chad enter Kano for shopping. Plus it is Northern Nigeria's most populous state.

I feel sorry for men like your husband. When it backfires big time, it may be too late to regret.

My cousin had a cousin (on his father side) who worked for a government security agency. Both he and his wife worked there.

Well, for his first wife, he later learnt she was in Canada with their 2 daughters. This was a punch below the belt. He looked finished. It was humiliating. I am sure she won't help him come over. It was obviously a punishment for his womanizing ways.

Obey your wedding vows (Hebrews 13:4)

God knows I can write an article about the bold. I dare say the only woman who should complain about infidelity should be the one who married as a virgin. I know MANY girls who had fun and flirted while single and later married well-to-do men. Tomorrow, if the same girls complain of infidelity, I would frown.

In my opinion, it is a balanced equation: provide financial wellbeing & freedom to flirt.

Yes, that is the major reason married men out-earn their single counterparts in places with more economic opportunities. The issue isn't marriage itself, but having plenty of children they cannot take care of. In Nigeria, to marry is to born. Nigerians don't marry for companionship, but to have children.

Good point but not always correct as some peoples breakthrough are rooted in their marriage. I have advised a friend to get marry to his fiance after he was in labour market for 9 years without a job until he started a small business. He got a woman who was a primary school teacher and I just felt his breakthrough may come when he gets married. I even sponsored their wedding and 3 years after they got America lottery visa and relocated abroad. Fortunate enough he got a good job over there even with the certificate that he could not get employment with in Nigeria . The day he bought a new car over there he called to thank me for encouraging him to take the right decision.
A major issue in Nigeria is using anecdotal evidence to make a definitive statement. There is no data to support the claim that marriage brings financial breakthroughs except one marries into a richer family. In fact, the prevailing data says marriage brings penury as Nigeria is poorer than countries that don't have the same mentality of marriage bringing financial blessings.

The theory to support your belief is that he doubled his hard work because he knew had a family to take care of. That is the reason it seems married people out-earn their single counterparts. But ambitious bachelors can out-earn their equally ambitious married men.

As we noticed in your post, the issue was the man being in Nigeria not his certificate. Single people also got selected for American lottery.

The OP post is not fair to those people that have business challenges or job termination the moment they get married.
While that is true. People should know the country they are citizens of and reside in. Na Nigeria we dey talk about, not South Korea or Singapore where the government can assist where necessary. In Singapore, there is financial assistance from the government to cover the cost. In South Korea, there are bountiful of such programs. Yet, the birth rates in those places are so low. So, why are Nigerians, who are poorer than those Asians, having plenty of children? When did the Nigerian government become more responsive than the Korean and Singaporean governments?

Secondly, getting married is a divine mandate upon man to multiply and subdue the earth.
It costs money to raise children. This is economics, not religion.

Thirdly, getting married and having kids are good omen that will bring to biological equilibrium.
I understand biological equilibrium, but what is good omen because one has children? If children bring good omen, Nigerians should be the luckiest set of people in the world.

Fourthly the main characteristics of living organisms is reproduction. So it is not out of place to marry and to have kids. those kids would bring continuity of life, fortunes and wealth to society in general and their parents in particular.
While the bold is true, we are not in the animal kingdom where animals kill with wanton abandon, and nothing is done. Try that in real life and there are repercussions. Also, that is biology, this is economics. Even a mad or mentally impaired person can have children, but can s/he raise them properly?

Honestly, marriage should not be only for the comfortable. Its bringing forth children you cant take care of that is a problem. A man shd think better matured and ahead when having a woman. Both will keep each other company through sex, chat and care. They can decide not to have children early till they are more stable.
It is the prevailing culture in Nigeria - marry today, born tomorrow. I recalled gisting with my female department mates that I intended to postpone childbearing until two years into the marriage. None gree o. Some were angry at my suggestion. I said marriage goes beyond having children. Dem say no. They cannot marry a man with my mentality.

A man should be able to feed himself. When married, the couples should be able to take care of themselves. One of the ploblems in marriage (through changing) is that once a woman marries, her husband takes care of all finances. This over burdens the man making the marriage tough but in the case where the woman enters the marriage with the mindset of taking up some of the financial needs of the house, the family will enjoy.
That happens everywhere. Childbearing takes a toll on women's earnings. Their earning power reduces and men have to chip in. Read "the motherhood tax". In fact, some white women make their husbands sign contracts stating the men will cover their salaries reduction as a result of childbirth. Na why their governments dey chip in with money to cover the costs of childbearing and raising children. 7

If you consider comfort before marriage, 80% of men will remain unmarried meaning we'll have and outburst of unmarried women which is even worst in effect to the society. My thought though.
I agree.
