Our fears are gradually come to reality. PDP and TANoids are not capable of providing the much needed intelligent opposition. So the OP is trying to tell us that since May till July, Nigeria has not earned any income! Very shameful wailing wailers inept opposition. I guess the clueless-ness continues in them |
I know a lot of people will say I am insensitive. But if you say its live bullet, why the guy in the picture come dey cry now. I expect the op to post pictures with blood stains at least. But that is not to say naija police no fit do that kin thing. MAIN POINT When this same El Rufai stopped the evening meal for the fasting muslims in Kaduna on the ground that government should not engage in religious practices, a lot of people crying foul here applauded him. How come he is now insensitive (and the silly accusation of Islamization agenda) simply because of his choice of a care-taker on religious grounds. That's the height of hypocracy https://www.nairaland.com/2392329/el-rufai-breaks-kaduna-state |
This is OLD news. This has been said looong before that clueless fisherman handed over. It has absolutely nothing to do with PMB. CBN has been defending the undefendable since the clueless one and his satanic vampires sucked the nations wealth dry for the elections. PUSH1:Especially when you have tasted how good life can be. ![]() I have said it on several threads that we don't need any useless bloody, primitive, violent revolution in this country that will lead to the death of innocent women and children. Because such a fight will most likely install another thief in the form of Wike, or Amaechi, or Rochas, or Aregbe or Fayose, or Kwankaso, or saraki, or lawan etc. All we need is a good no-nonsense leader that will "whip people into shape". Boyloaf has already been "whipped into shape" by mere presence of a no-nonsense "oga at the top". Could we have even dreamt of this kind of news if GEJ was still in Aso Rock? |
OP Pls take a look at your fingers and tell us if they all have the same cut-off points. Why didn't you ever complained to God for that "injustice" Some countries have oil and some don't. Is it also injustice Some people woh woh while some are divas. Some people work hard and are still poor while some are lazy but are rich. Some countries like India have problem of over population while Canada (the 2nd largest country in the world) has a population that's just a tad more than that of Lagos. Is that injustice too? Or are we not all humans? The point I am making is that we humans have always created problems for ourselves by our excessive search for equality. OR WOULD YOU RATHER HAVE THE CUTOFF FOR ANAMBRA REDUCED TO 3 JUST TO PACIFY SOME YOU ![]() If those girls in the north are not encouraged and they end up being married off as child-wives, I am sure you will still come and lamblast the north. It is good to look for equity and justice, but often times, it is better to let some things go as you can never achieve "balance". The only set of people that are "balanced" are in the graves. |
Pheals:This is the same kind of excuse they keep repeating and its now getting really annoying. What about the biometrics we did for MTN and other telecoms coys and the one we did for driving license and the recent/ongoing national id card. If the system is really working, what stops these clowns from collecting the already given biodata across the various channels and simply ask us to come verify/confirm. I have said this b4 and I'll repeat it again - I will wait till 30mins to the close of business on the last day before I even think whether or not I should bother about this BVN |
Channels TV Nigeriainfo Punch Newspaper Sahara Reporters Then, may be BBC And the rest ![]() CNN and AJZ are just different sides of the same coin. Have you noticed how the portray the crises news they cover (especially CNN) They show the funeral of an Israeli soldier murdered in Palestine; they'll show the wife; the 2-yr old kid and weeping mother. You'll be hard-pressed not to feel for the supposed poor family. But, when it comes to the victims in Palestine, the story goes like . . . 6 brothers of the same family were killed by IDF airstrike..... meaning, they are reduced to numbers. You feel no attachment to them because they are just numbers. Hence, by the style of reporting both sides of the story, they get into your subconscious mind and control you in a very stealthy way. Very clever mind control with very high potent power. SAME GOES FOR AJZ!! Just reverse the scenario/story. |
My annoyance with this new BVN is that I get sick of banks and other institutions asking for details ever 3 years or thereabout. A few years ago, we were told to come for KYC - they think didn't of BVN then. 2 yrs later, we were asked to get NUBAN - again BVN was not in their agenda. Not minding the fact that we were forced to give our biodata to telecoms, driving license, national ID card what stops them from synchronising all the data we have given in the past and just ask people to confirm.Only God know what will come next. For me as a last-minute-dot-com person, I will wait till 3:30pn on June 29th ![]() |
I like the way PMB is handling this maturely. No problem with the leadership of NA but will not condone acts of indiscipline especially when it involves conniving with PDP to undermine the interest of your own party. PMB is finally learning politics - If Saraki can form an allegiance with PDP and go as far as conceding the post of deputy senate president to the PDP, what is the assurance that similar alliance will not be formed in the future to impeach PMB or at least PDP using the influence of Ekwerumadu as a ralling point and frustrate PMB's government |
Mixed feeling for me about this one. On one hand I am happy that at least this bring some form of equality as I am not sure the same gesture had been extended to christians during lent fasting and other faiths in the past. So cancelling it bring everybody to the same level. On the other hand, I am not too sure how much it will cost the government to support the poor during fasting periods (muslim or christian). If not for corruption, how much will state government to do this social welfare for a max 70days (30days for muslims and 40days for xtians) in a year? |
This reminds me of Anders Breivik's terror attack in Oslo, Norway. The spontaneous reaction of the western media was Islamic "terrorist" was responsible. But when he was caught and turned out to be a white christian, the term "terrorist" was quickly and conveniently replaced with "mad man", "deranged", "lone wolf" etc. How come as we witnessed in the Charlie Hebdo's case, there have not been a global outcry and global procession for those murdered by Dylann Roof? Western hypocrisy at its peak. Sad thing is we join them in their hypocrisy in labelling ourselves. When the politicians want to manipulate us, they make it convenient for us to see and refer to the other group as Biafra, Ooduanistan and Arewamabad etc. Are all these not rude and stup!d racial profiling too? |
Wow!! This thread is over an hour old and there are just 4 contributors. Not only are the west hypocritically labelling similar acts as terror if the guys has any thing islamic connected to him or if he is black, we on our own part also contribute to labelling ourselves as terrorists. Just imagine how many contributors would have commented within this time period if the guy happen to have a name like Uche or Adewale. Folks from both sides of the river Niger would have been filling google servers with term derogatory terms. E.g Igbos are carni***als, Igbos are kidn***pers, Igbos are crim***als, Yorubas are cow***rds, Yorubas are tra***ors, Yorubas are sl***ves etc |
keni:Obviously, a number of people have used it successfully - at least to get started solomonwis: |
barcanista:You read where I said $129 or $10000 watch (which means how come Mrs Obama is not wearing any - whether the watch was $129 or $10000). I wonder why you even cancelled it out. Who did you think I was referring to bearing in mind the recent noise about "first ladies watches"? Your baseless and paranoiac attacks / antagonizing PMB just to prove GEJ was not a failure prevented you from recognizing who I was referring to. |
I understand the agent behind Michelle, but for a first lady of the most powerful man in the world, how come Mrs Obama no wear any "bling-bling" and her children too. No chains, no out-of-the-world glasses , probably no wristwatch ($129 or $10000) and earrings. If na Mama piss, even the agent sunglasses will not be dark enough. Nigerians, why do we love material things so much? See simplicity at its peak - coming from the most powerful family in the world. |
Like Seriously?!! You guys are just too funny. So your hero did all the work yet there is still no electricity - no minding the fact that he became a "re"commissioning engineer in the last two weeks before March 28. Which solid backgroud work did he do? Is it the privatisation of PHCN that OBJ started or the IPPs that ObJ built (which he was busy recommissioning). Which solid background work did he do for the fight against BH? For 6yrs (pls don't tell me its 5yrs and 3months) BH reigned supreme and even claimed part of the country. In your words you said "We must not forget that Jonathan's government sacked these terrorists from territories bigger than the entire Belgium" What this means is that you admit that under the watch of the fisherman-in-chief, BH seized nigerian territory that is bigger than the size of Belgium. Or are you going to lie that the territories were seized before GEJ? To start with, it was his incompetence that gave BH the opportunity to grow that much. Reforms in the petroleum sector: You mean the contracts given to Tompolo and Gani adams abi? : : |
pazienza:Here they are - An example of a potential Lagooner |
omenka:May God continue to enrich you in knowledge. This your piece reminds me of my thread way back before the elections https://www.nairaland.com/1980963/history-nigerian-presidents-religious-beliefs South West has always been very accommodative of everybody irrespective of tribe and especially religion. So, I was very angry and at the same time very scared that the consciousness of south westerners was being rudely awakened to the needless bigotry and hate campaign. These are people who never "really" cared about the religion of their governors. Some states in SW has never been governed by muslims until this present day and nobody cared about it - rightly so because it didn't and shouldn't matter. I don't recollect a muslim governor in Ogun and Osun prior to 2011 elections that brought Amosun and Aregbesola. I am not a good student of history so I don't know of ant christian governor in Ondo and Ekiti till this very moment. Yet we don't care because it doesn't matter and I dare say most south westerners are like me. Yet that useless FFK employed by fisherman-in-chief and cheered-on by their fellow devil incarnate PDP supporters, tried to instigate people against one another by saying APC governors are 80% muslims and so they want to islamise Nigeria. I mean what were they expecting people to do? Start a revolt against muslims? It was also a national shame that for the first time in the history of this nation (and what a complete mockery of the precedence which the PDP laid), a sitting vice president had nothing to campaign with other than to say the vice presidential candidate of APC is a pastor with 5000 churches!! I mean I was just speechless. Thank God they were booted out. By the special grace of God, with men and women of thinking like OP, we will surely rise above this and anybody that want to take us back to those days will be thrown into the nearest lagoon anywhere in the country. |
PassingShot:My brother. Sometimes I just don't get their logic. Its as if the don't have brains. A classical example is this thread. Has BH ever amputated anyone before? How come none of the news media - both local and international- has carried this news in the past. The world is a small village. We knew when Samuel duo was amputating Nigerians during the Liberian civil war. It was carried by many media houses. Same goes for the atrocities of Isis. How come we are just reading the story of amputation done by boko haram. The truth is this is not an amputation. Its is more like polio victim like someone earlier said. Sadly there are many Nigerians that will take any news as real without checking or even thinking about it especially if it paint is slam, buhari, or north as terrorists. It really says a lot about the intelligence level of many contributors on nairaland |
OP, That person suddenly turned to a complete nuisance. Initially reserved some bit of respect for him because anyone has the right to switch sides based on conviction. But in recent times he just proved me wrong attacking every single move the president makes without any justification other than sheer hatred. He's like someone looking for ever excuse under the sun to criticize PMB just to console himself that GEJ was not a failure. Like you said how on earth does someone expect a case of that magnitude to be completed in less than 2 weeks. Even some military tribunals take much longer. |
Is anybody still taking any of those "beer parlor" mushroom news houses seriously? Personally, I usually scroll down any news post to see the source before even reading. I just quietly ignore them and move on. No time for jesters and bad-bele news. Anyway, thanks op for calling attention to it. |
OREMUSSANCTUS:Bros be honest - you are not comparing apples with apples This is just one person - and he is breaking the laws of their land. I'd say he is even lucky. Saudi has softened. In the past, the judgment would have been more severe. How can you compare the treatment of one person who broke the law of the land with the treatment of thousands of people summarily put to death by torture and without fair trial. Oga, you have no case. Its better you admit it. |
ShowYourCertificate:Of course GEJ declared his asset after so much noise was made. Remember he made the "I don't give a damn" statement on the issue. He even said its a personal issue on one of the many uninspiring media chats. Yes while he reluctantly submitted the CCB form (which would have been greatly falsified), that he was made to declare his asset after so much prodding and persuasions said a lot about his body language as regards transparency. Thank God the reign of impunity is finally over. In the words of madam Oby, may God never punish us with that kind of leader again - yes gej was a punishment . |
chukwudi44:Bros GEJ did not do us any favour for conceding. If anything at all, he did himself a massive favour by not trying anything stup!d. Just imagine what would have happened: he was just the commander-in-chief by mouth. If he was truly the commander-in-chief of the Armed forces, he wouldn't be afraid to visit chibok and other crisis area for so many months. What does this tell us? He would have been swept aside in a day because the he was not truly in control of the army - the army was more loyal to other covert power brokers. Who do you think the army will listen to if crisis broke out - GEJ or Abdul Sallam? Coupled that with the lack of support in the majority of the regions in the country and absolutely no int'l support from countries that matter. With little or no support from the army; at least 4 out or 6 regions of the country are against him and zero int'l support, the odds were hugely against him and he made the smartest choice. Besides, he learnt from contrast experience of IBB and Abdul Sallam - they both stole alot of money but Abdul Sallam gets all the credits and int'l recognition just because he handed over to a democratically elected president. Why will he trade that chance of being called a state-man when he know he cannot win the war if he doesn't concede defeat - Gbagbo is still fresh in his mind. Your reference to IBB is completely out of place. IBB was a millitary ruler. He WAS FULLY in control of the army unlike gej. So gej did himself a huge favour and not Nigerians. |
Imokay:Just a few questions: 1) How many bottles/cylinders can you transport to sokoto in a day? 2) How many bottles/cylinders will the turbine gulp per hour? How many are needed per day/month/year 3) Have you considered the possible cost of road transport? Don't tell me we have to wait for better rail network as that is also time consuming and very costly. 4) Must the gas line start from escravos? Must all gas line start from the source? What about those junction/distribution points along the route to Lagos and West Africa 5) Is it a must that everybody must use gas? Are there no other form of energy that can be transformed to electricity? |
I think the message has been passed and its now clear/understood. We NEED the grid. But for now, we have to focus more on local generation in order to decentralize power generation due to the cost and time required to upgrade the national grid to a level that will effectively serve its purpose. Its like someone who is hungry and instead of walking to the nearest buka, he decides to start planting yam Granted, the cost of eating in the buka maybe a bit more than cooking at home, he certainly would have been long dead by the time the yam is ready to be harvested. I hope the new people coming to Aso-Rock are reading. I laughed when I read the idea of transporting gas to power plant in cylinders. Not impossible though, but who has time and resources for that logistical nightmare? |
I don't know why we are arguing because it is now obvious we are saying the same thing. aresa:This is my position on the above: gists: |
@aresa I am not promoting centralization. Simply because I asked that we don't decommission our grid doesn't mean I am asking for centralization. As I said, I can't think of a country that doesn't have some form of grid system. Maybe you can help me with some examples. What if something happens at gaslink and the gas supply to many of the turbines in Lagos goes down? I just used Osun as example but it looked like you are focusig on distance. But there are countless scenarios that can give rise to power shortage in any region. What is the point of having power in Mowe (Ogun state) and the people in Berger (Lagos state less than 50km from Mowe) for some reasons are staying in darkness or vise versa. In the same manner, what is the point of having excess power in Afam while the GENCo/DISCo in Abia struggles to meet the electricity demand of her citizens? What is the point in have excess power in Akwa Ibom while the GENCo/DISCo in Cross rivers struggles to meet the electricity demand of her citizens? What is the point in have excess power in Kaduna while the GENCo/DISCo in Zamfara struggles to meet the electricity demand of her citizens? The grid provides for flexibility as backup not as main form of distribution and guarantees extra revenue for those that can sell to others "in need". It covers these tiny "blind spot" here and there - i believe I have said this before. The question then is, what happens if every jurisdiction is able to produce more power than is required in their various regions/localities? To answer that, I believe if Ghana had the audacity to nurse the intention to sell electricity to us, there shouldn't be anything preventing us from also selling electricity to neighboring countries. You can't do that without a grid. Ghana than wanted to sell electricity to us cannot be nursing that thought if all the have is island generating plants in Accra, Kumasi and co without an over-riding grid. http://www.punchng.com/news/ghana-plans-to-export-electricity-to-nigeria/ |
OrlandoOwoh:All the same, we still a grid. I can't think of a country that doesn't have one. Pylon-making companies would have gone out of business if there are no customers buying pylons for transmission on their grids As I said earlier, the grid provides flexibility and robustness.BTW the IPP you talked about in Ota. But is Ota is in Ogun state not Lagos - right? Without a grid how will someone in Ikotun or Ajegunle benefit from that IPP in Ota. We still need a grid -period! But to revamp it is not the priority now. The priority is decentralizaation of electricity generation. The idea of BIG GENCos pumping electricity into the grid at a national level for onward transmission across the country will not work - especially with our inefficient grid network. The concept should be reversed. Eliminate the GENCos at the national level and bring them closer to the "community" i.e end-users. But since the Discos are already at the end-user levels, they may as well partially or fully assume the role of GENCos. Let them generate for their respective communities and upload the rest to the grid for other communities whose GENCo/DISCo has issues or cannot meet their demand for whatever reason. |
