duni04:
Not a fan of Nigerian politics but this ought to be the most ridiculous legal argument i have ever heard. How can someone who was born in a town in present day Nigeria be excluded from contesting elections as a Nigerian because the town was in another country before he was born?
Joda is a town in pressnt day Nigeria, why on earth would someone in Abuja deny anyone in Joda the chance to contest any election because joda was once in Cameroon as far back as 1961huh

Absolutely ridiculous!!!

The Supreme court would have to step in to properly interprete the law in this case. They need to set a precedent on whether conferred citizenship is retrogressive more so in this very unusual case where another territory was absorbed. I'm sure one of the conditions for joining Nigeria un 1961 would have been promises from the Nigerian side that their rights to full benefits associated with being citizens of Nigeria would not be trampled on. Atiku should introduce that in his defence.
It may look ridiculous but what does our constitution say? I laugh at those rooting for gej as president again after taking the oath of president twice already. There is even a constitutional amendment to that now if as deputy governor or vice president you taker over from your dead boss, you can't have a second term

It's really a pity. No wonder the low level of patriotism.

Is this real?
I didn't think Adebanjo would host him.
we yorubas don't play very bitter politics like other tribes, tinubu will even visit bode George in his house if need be.

I remembered when tinubu visited Gani fawehinmi when he was sick despite how Gani went really hard on tinubu on the Chicago university wahala.

This is why some of us berated seyi makinde on the way he handled issues after ajumobi's death, it's not the Yoruba way at all. In any typical yoruba setting or family, occasions bring friends and foes together whether it's a wedding, burial, or whatever, that's our way, anything short of this is not accepted. Personally, I was forced to visit a bereaved family despite the evil they did to my family. I was made to understand by some very wise elders that I will only make things worse if I don't do so. And I must confess that it also made me forgive them every easily after I visited. That's our way and culture.

There is no bitterness against a wicked leader!!!

You decide to turn blind eyes to the obvious, whatever best known you. Not all of us are gullible.

Let him defend the outragious fees to AlphaBetta from LASG; explain the event of cash bullion van; explain why one he continues causing untimely to thousands of people on land matters; amongst others. Let me stop on these few for now. If you want more I can give you bruv
is the entire electioneering process not in phases? he is yet to officially make his ambition known and after that he will contest for the party's ticket and square up against other parties, at each phase will he not have the opportunity to be asked questions to defend himself? all other politicians that have been contesting and those currently in the mix, do they not have questions to answer too?

The point is you guys are too fixated on tinubu, get a life, bring out your own candidate or jump into the fray yourself and compete with him, it's a free world. Anything short of this is pettiness and grandstanding.

When you point a finger at someone, the others are pointing at you. If you call tinubu a wicked leader how will you describe yourself as a leader where you are currently.

Finish off Tinubu ke? Who cares, after all, he was the one that brought Buhari in when he could have picked other options in the presidential race..Tambuwa was there and other Northerners that were much younger and not as nepotistic as Buhari...But he picked Buhari, then packaged and sold him to Nigerians. Knowing fully well that this man is a fanatic, a dictator and a tribal leader.
I admire Tinubu and his contribution to the political terrain of Nigeria and I acknowledge his relevance in the politics in recent time but we never forgive him for bringing Buhari onboard
.If not for Tinubu, this fanatic would have retired to his cow loving career. Now are being told that our fathers land belong to the Fulanis and therefore they are free to graze their cow where ever they choose .They raped, maim and kill anyone that opposes them. They have brought this nonsense to the south and they appear to be more daring than ever before becos their son is in power and they know they have the Fed govt and the Military to defend them.
So I don't care if Buhari deals with Tinubu( which i know will not happen), becos he brought this calamity upon us...At least let him feel a pinch of what his bad choice has brought upon us.
So you think Tambuwal and others are better? grin I laugh in urhobo

One thing about me is that, I acknowledge the failures of our leaders, which I never disputed, but I am way better than you, that would rather eat the crumbs that falls from he table of corrupt politicians that say things the way things are.

The people of the Niger Delta have continued to suffer the effect of what provide countrys main source of income and your dare raise your gutter mouth to badmouth our polluted enviroment?Even the Fed govt cannot clean up the damages that they have done over the years.
So many people have raised issues over these problems with various agitation here and there and what they did was to provide them with amnesty so as to calm freyed nerves and allow few to get rich while the poor wallow in the same polluted environment cause by the Nigeria govt so that the country can be sustained and continue business as usual.
.
You can insult our leaders and politicians, becos they deserve it, since there are corrupt and a disappointment to our region but don't ever open that gutter mouth of your to insult the polluted environment caused by years of oil spillage caused by years of oil exploration, so that the country can survive, since it happens to be our major source of income.

Do you think as it is, Nigeria can survive without oil? where do you think the oil comes from? the Gas companies and oil companies in Lagos that have continued to be a boost to the tax revenue of Lagos, where do you think the oil is coming from? You talk so passionately about your Demi god Tinubu but at the same time you talk stupidly without thinking.

Like I said..mark my word..your Tinubu will never smell Aso Rock..With the right support and sponsorship, A Fashola and Osibanjo have more leverage than him..Even if he has all the money in the world to play around with and to even buy over your own very conscience & soul ,it will not change who he is. He can be a kingmaker since that is what he good with anyway.
Anyway, enough with you and your die hard Tinubu . I leave you with your opinion and what you stand for, so will I maintain mine.No hard feelings.Bye.
Fashola or osinbajo persons I even prefer cannot be president without Tinubu support base so you guys should be very clear on this Tinubu matter, whether he becomes president or not he will continue to remain more relevant in nigerian politics for many years to come. It's not his fault or your region leaders fault that he is so powerful. He has earned it and if you want to beat him at his game, pls slug it out with him in the political battle Field.

You guys hate Buhari so much yet you have so much expectations of him to finish off Tinubu. Are you guys that bereft of tact to finish him off yourselves?

You see ehn, before I stumbled upon Nairaland, I didn't give tribal sentiments any thoughts at all. We all see Igbos around in Yorubaland everywhere. I'm Catholic, I see them in my parish, we sit together on the same pews, we shake hands, we commune together etc.

Then I stumbled upon Nairaland and realized that I hadn't been listening to the Igbos I met offline.

The subtle remarks, the quiet blame, the continuous comparison and struggle to feel superior to the Yorubas suddenly burst here on Nairaland.

The good thing about Nairaland is that it is anonymous.

Your very good Igbo friend may be posting complete trash about Yorubas here and you won't know.

The two of you may be cursing each other here on Nairaland and you'd still meet offline and be friends.

Once in a while when their elders come out to say stuff like this man has done, it reminds you that all is not well.

Whatever your relationship with the Igbos are, just understand that in their hearts, they will always blame the Yorubas for their loss of the civil war.

That's why online and offline, they mock Yorubas as cowards because they thought we chickened out and didn't support them to fight the senseless war. A war chief Awolowo cautioned Ojukwu to dialogue instead of war.

When they use the words betrayers, chameleon etc to describe the Yorubas, it's because of the lies their parents have told them.
The igbos covet all they see with the yorubas. Drag them to one corner and they will vomit the truth. Their problem is that they cannot innovate and be original hence they want to copy and have everything the see and hear about the yorubas.

For me I don't loose a sleep whenever they come with their rhetoric. I only wish them well to have a future generation that will be original and be proud of their identity instead of trying to be what they cannot and have what cannot be theirs. Their older generation really did lots of damage and most times I sympatesize with them. Blaming others for your woes only shows your level of strength and lack of innovation.

Yeebos are pathetic. Seriously.

Nnamdi Kanu could have been the first Prime Minister of Nigeria while Awolowo had offered to be his sidekick even though the latter was more knowledgeable and brilliant as shown by the
difference in developmentt of their respective regions at the time.

But Azikiwe, an unforgiving, tribalistic and nepotistic person preferred to sell the entire Southern Nigeria to the North by being a sidekick to the Fulanis.

His people are now hiding in the bush trying to dislodge the Fulanis from their land. Poetic justice somebody?

The more the Igbos keep on showing their rhetoric of hate and bile towards the Yorubas, the more I feel we should deport all of them when we get Yoruba nation.

I mean, who would want to live with a rattlesnake in the same house?

They all seem to have the same hatred against the Yorubas, both the educated and the illiterate. The old and the young. Male and female. Same narrative day in, day out.

Always blaming the Yorubas for their woes.

If not for the late Sage Awolowo, I'm sure the Igbos will have come out of the civil war as a tiny and insignificant minority tribe in Nigeria, that is if any of them remained.

Awolowo was truly the saviour of the Igbos.

His starvation policy brought the war to a quick end, while the Igbo leader Ojukwu wanted to drag the war on till eternity. He deprived his people of the food brought into through the food corridor opened for them by Awolowo.

Ojukwu starved his people and fed himself and Igbo elites. He then took pictures of starving kids and mothers and tried to use them to garner pity from the international community.

Ask yourselves, when he saw his people starving, why didn't he surrender and end the war?

Because he purposely starved them to death.

Awolowo kept the revenue for the eastern region during the war and made sure they were given that revenue to rebuild their region. He was the finance minister after all. He had a quarrel with the North because of this singular act. All that, "we rebuilt our cities ourselves after the war without help..." is a big irresponsible lie.

This is the history that Igbo parents and grandparents won't tell the young ones.

All they do is fabricate lies and make sure the next generation if Igbos are steeped in hatred for the Yorubas.

Such a big shame.

Chidoka was a minister during the Jonathan era.

Ask him what he did for his Igbo people. But he will come and blame Awolowo for his own incompetence.

If you're igbo and you share this man's sentiments, shame on you for real.

Leave Papa Awolowo to rest in peace.

He's not your Imo state governor, nor your Anambra state governor. Hold your leaders responsible and quit the blame game.
The igbos prefer very weak yoruba leaders like bode george, fayose, ffk and their ilk to very brave and cerebral yoruba leaders like awo, tinubu, fashola, osinbajo and co.

Their matter don tire person. Any yoruba person or leader that can put the yorubas at a very strong political advantage they will accuse of tribalism. Honestly this is just inferiority complex
