omokab: My own point on this is that both of them were saying the same a good thing. Amechi is right on the fact that, the fraud level on the project is too high. While allowing the looters to have as saying on a project like this. Kachukwu on the other hands is looking for a soft landing to allowing him continue his job so that the militant will stop blowing the pipeline and allow the economy to grow. This University issue is one the conditions given to federal government to stop blowing pipelines in the Niger delta. I think the best thing to do Is allowing the university project to go on and continue tracing the fraud so that peace will reign. Then, somebody up there said kachukwu as a minister should know the cost of valuing land, it doesn't work like that bcs he's not a valuer. He dosnt know anything about land valuation. Truely, he may know that the cost is outrageous but is not his duty. well said, both ministers truly meant well. |

Op, I understand your points here but I think Kachikwu is trying to be diplomatic here to prevent more pipeline bombings, he is the one on the hot seat more than Amaechi and he is trying to balance out Amaechi's point.
Both Amaechi and Kachikwu means well for the Nation, let's stop allowing the haters of this govt to score cheap political points and make the south south issues more tensed than it is right now. Nigeria must work.
I stand with Nigeria instead of either Amaechi or Kachikwu who are both working for the interests of their beloved nation. |

This is the grouse I have with GEJ. Why in earth did he not do something lasting in the ND despite the luck of selling oil for so much and being a son of the soil? Nothing stopped a small power plant of say 40MW being built in each senatorial zone of the ND to spur economic activities.

In a post on his Facebook wall on Sunday, April 24, 2016, Mr. Okupe, who served Mr. Jonathan as a senior special assistant on public affairs, stated: "Fielding Jonathan was a monumental mistake". That the singular mistake made by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was the nomination of his boss for second term, despite the ample hint that that the north wanted power back at all cost.
This was the same Yoruba man that said if APC survives a year, he should be called a bastard. The same person said over his dead body will Buhari rule Nigeria. This a person GEJ trusted. https://www.nairaland.com/3067550/no-politician-alive-stand-buharis
Yorubas see backst*bbing and treachery as ways of life that despite the campaign of calumny and hatred championed by Yorubas against president GEJ, a supposed Ijaw man, was very liberal. GEJ guaranteed Yorubas freedom of speech and freedom after speech. GEJ did not go about assassinating perceived political opponents as was obtained in the previous regime of Obj, a Yoruba man (1999 - 2007).
GEJ performed far better than Obj, Yorubas do-or-die proponent whose despotic reign was marred with mass corruption, election rigging, financial recklessness and numerous failed projects brought the country into ruins.
Yorubas and their cohorts called GEJ clueless, drunkard, Jonathan, Jonadunce etc.
GEJ allowed Yoruba opposition party to flourish and win elections across the country - a democratic dividend that their own Obj could not offer. Yorubas term themselves as being respectful yet they called GEJ unprintable names. They fabricated and concocted evils and sold them as news to the public just like the bigot so quoted is trying to do.
GEJ was peace-loving and liberal and never sent or forced any Yoruba person on compulsory exile despite all their arrogance and insults against his person.
GEJ was so liberal that in spite of the fact that his State and SS region produce the crude oil wealth for the sustenance of SW region and other parasitic States he allowed the parasitic ingrates to have their way.

mesoprogress: I was recently banned on this forum for mocking federal government's military crackdown in niger delta with war ships, gun boats, jet fighters and foot soldiers.
I recognize that Nairaland is a privately owned website, have a right to ban anybody at anytime but setting a bad precedent is not good for both the website operators, Nigeria government and people.
Our criticism and mocking of government is geared to put them on their toes. Government officials, politicians, DSS, etc all come to nairaland to gather opinion from common Nigerians and for intelligence gathering as well. They hear our voices, mockings, insults daily from Facebook, Twitter, online forums (eg nairaland) and try to amend their ways. Trying to shut up dissenting voices only embolden us the more.
On issue of Niger Delta Avengers, IPOB, it's only Nigerian government that designates these groups as criminal groups . While fulani herdsmen designated as fourth most dangerous terrorist group globally, it is treated with kids gloves by ruling government. Niger Delta Avengers may not be employing the nicest method to achieve their aim but they are constrained on other options. I will explain this further.
People have opined that they could have made their requests known peacefully instead of blowing their lands away. MASSOB, IPOB, etc have over the years peacefully asked for secession. What did they get? Military crackdown, extra judicial killing, unlawful detention. It's obvious you cannot get anything peacefully in Nigeria. If they have listened to previous agitators, at least these new guys would show face and not resort to pipeline bombing.
Others were of opinion that they should have used our senators, reps, governors. This is not possible. Reason being that by constitution, Nigeria is indivisible and elected officials have sworn to unity of the country. It is a tresonable offense. They will immediately be arrested by DSS if they mention anything about division of the country. It is now left for ordinary people to use international laws to achieve self determination.
After military invasion, what did they achieve? Nothing! Pipelines are still going up in flames even after unilateral declaration of ceasefire by Nigerian government.
The only solution that will avert total disintegration of Nigeria is amendment of 1999 constitution. Communities and regions need to control their lands and resources and pay tax to the center. This will bring unprecedented development to all regions and end oil dependency once and for all. We could operate as mini nations and leverage on our population. If Ogoni wants a Kingdom of their own , let them have it!
I have more details and road map to a successful Nigeria. Where the government refuses to listen to the people, count me out on a united Nigeria. Mods you can ban again till 2020 or delete my account completely. I stand by my opinions. I will continue to criticize and mock government whenever they fail.
Cheers why did all these not come up during GEJ's rule? These are all political rhetoric, how come we suddenly realized that the 1999 constitution need to be amended when PMB assumed power. |

the side of this crisis you are not looking at is that, youi need money to engage in any war and win. you need to buy arms either in cash or in exchange for crude oil.
these boys are grounding that. never forget it will take years to rebuild whatever they are destroying now.
Bokoharam war is totally different from this because there was money to fund the military, although Dasuki and co had a swell time.
the source of the money or crude is the Delta. Our chief enemy now is Iran. that nation doesn't forgive. If those boys ground the economy and get military hardware and support from Iran and other Shi'ite nations, It will be a long fight.
South Sudan (which had the oil) fought for their resource control for 17 years and UN had no option than carve them out for peace to reign. and south sudan is very peaceful now abi? Sir, I repeat the NDA can never win this war, Nigeria is not sudan or Central african republic. This country is bigger than what we think. Problem of some of you is that you think all the money Nigeria has is from oil, Nigeria is capable and even the International community knows that this country can prosecute the operations in the niger delta region without going broke like other african nations, it is the advise from the international community that is holding the govt back, but if the NDA operations begin to assume the dimension of boko haram where they start holding and claiming territories like boko haram, guy you will be first to beg the FG to allow peace to reign. Abagworo: My take on this issie is that Buhari came in to change the old ways but the old ways want his Government frustrated in order to deceive the people into believing nobody can rule Nigeria well. If indeed their reason for detonating bombs planted randomly on pipelines is because of the sins of past Governments why not allow Buhari apply his change agenda before destroying everything?
What I witnessed recently in a gathering of presumably responsible mid aged men in Port Harcourt sent chills down my spine. They all unanimously want Buhari to fail so as to justify Jonathan's failure and that of our past leaders. Nigeria especially Niger Delta is ripe for a war and it is left for these elders to make or marr the volatile peace we're enjoying at the moment. This is actually the purpose of all the bombings, it is political and not about the issues of federalism or what have you, reason they called themselves the avengers, they actually avenging the loss and failure of their son GEJ. Anybody who is thinking they are actually serious about their demands on paper is just ignorant. This is a political war to pay PMB back and we know it but how far they will succeed is only a matter of time. |
