Politics › Re: PDP vs APC - 2015 Projection Model by hakanai(m): 3:59pm On Feb 11, 2013
You guys are making assumptions here without taking into consideration the most critical factors. I had been in the fields since 1999 election and can tell you what happened in all the elections especially in the East.

How many of us, know that ANPP won the Presidential election in the East in 1999, but was rigged out by the Igbo elites who have a common agenda of “wanting to belong to a winning PDP”? That election was majorly boycotted in the East and the few that voted, who were mainly young men, voted massively for Olu Falaye. That was like a protest vote over the Loss of the PDP primary in Jos by Ekwueme.

The 2003 election in the East was no election. What we had, was massive thumb-printing of ballot papers after scaring people aware with gun-shootings. My old aunt then was crying when I insisted on going out to vote that day (Presidential election) based on their experience the previous voting day.(I always only have interest in presidential elections). Needless to say, that when I arrived I met groups of young men, "doing their paid work". I voted for APGA. I did it in such a way that they all saw my voting; just to hit back at them. Being one of their own, who they know very well, to be ready for trouble; and being aware that my one vote made no meaning; they allowed me to get aware with it.

2007 election, I can't say much b/c I was out of the country. But the report I got was worse. There was no election.

Now 2011 election in the east was a "conspiracy of both the elites and the masses" built on tribalism. The masses were misinformed that GEJ was their own. Basically, everyone thumb-printed as much as he could to produce the massive votes. Buhari lacked the resources to monitor votes. So Buhari need finance if he can make headway in his ambition.

Also in the North, while the cities were "disgracing" PDP with massive votes for Buhari (with possible child-voting); PDP as usual was buying all the votes from the villages and producing massive figures that made nonsense of Buhari's votes.

So what is my scenario for 2015 with APC?

If Tinubu and his "gang" can sincerely commit to the alliance, they can mobilize enough resource and "evil contacts" to checkmate PDP and their rigging machine. Buhari will mobilize almost the whole core northern votes less that of fanatical Christians, believe me. The few votes, Buhari will loose from the North are those that can be bought and those of the elites who are afraid of their past. Tinubu and his CAN, while I am afraid they may lose Lagos b/c of their misrule; can always galvanize Yoruba votes for any Presidential candidate of their choice.

But will Tinubu want to do this and get Buhari into power? I serious have doubts. I believe Tinubu is too corrupt and will be risking too much to allow Buhari have a chance to probe him and send him to jail. The Nigerian elites cannot trust Buhari. They are stinkingly corrupt and will never want their past investigated or their corrupt lines of income stopped.

Majority of the South-south “real and imaginary” votes will still go GEJ's way, come what may. Though, he will certainly lose some, owing to his obvious incompetence. Can APC get one-third of the votes from any of the South-south vote? It depends on their presidential candidate, and how rigging plays out. They can, if they come forth with a worthwhile Presidential candidate that the play the "settlement" game well.

Same happens to the East. The Igbos wants one of their own. As an Igbo I strongly share this sentiment, but also understand that our leaders sold out. I may also not be very comfortable with APC presenting a Northerner as a President and a Yoruba VP. This is enough to motivate me to put all I can in order to stop them, not minding whoever their Presidential candidate becomes. I have always suspected that "Tinubu" and his think-tank encouraged GEJ to do away with Zoning in order to create a chance for them to contest for the Presidency in a near future. Doing otherwise would have meant the other 5 zones taking their turns (a total of possible 40 years – 8X5), before it can get to the Yorubas. It is annoying to me as an Igbo for Tinubu to pull such a fast one on me.

If Igbos can be reassured and rigging by our governors checkmated, APC can get may be close to 40% of Igbo votes. To do this certainly means having a good number of Igbo elites in their midst. Without the elites, you cannot protect your votes even when you have them.

GEJ and PDP played religious politics to get North Central votes in the last election. How easily he can resort to this again depends and the satisfaction the middle belters feel from his present performance in office. I cannot judge on this but it can go either way. This is the real battle ground. Buhari has a chance while PDP has a chance.

Now what about APC without Buhari? If Buhari campaigns for them as a leader of the party, they can still retain a significant percentage of their core north votes. But they will lose the votes of the radical progressives’ southerners who are behind Buhari. This group only motivation is Buhari and not the party. Given a good candidate, they can get away with this, with Buhari’s support and commitment.

Now APC without Buhari’s support is dead on arrival. I suspect Tinubu is working towards getting Buhari’s support while not picking him as the Presidential candidate. Be certain that Tinubu will be the financial live-wire of the Party. It is only the CAN states and Rochas that can finance the party. Buhari cannot. Tinubu is one of the smartest and crookest Nigerian that lives today. I see him the way I see IBB. They are both Maradonas and stinkingly corrupt. How he chose to play this game is what I don’t know. Mind you he can pull a fast one on GEJ. Serious and high ranking members of GEJ’s government must certainly be on his pay book.

On the D-day, all of them can pull a fast one on a “mumu” GEJ. If Atiku ever joins APC “in heart and soul” (though I doubt this, given the earlier betrayal he suffered from Tinubu and lack of trust), GEJ will be goner b/c both “Tinubu and Atiku” can do deals. They can commander even OKwonjo-Iwela to betray GEJ. They have the resources and the patronage to “conjure” most Nigeria elites together in a fight against GEJ.

Remember also that there is another criminal waiting and pulling strings, if his health allows him. He is IBB. He will certainly be a factor depending on how he perceives where his bread is buttered.

One thing that may however unite the North behind Buhari is Boko Haram and the damage it is doing to the North. I believe Northern leaders are gutted about Boko haram and suspect GEJ is using it to destroy the North. They may see the election as a last resort to salvage the North and may be able to concede enough grounds to other elites from other parts of the country, in order to remove GEJ.

How Obasanjo decide to join will certainly help in shaping things. But as a core coward (who hates taking risk based on principle, but likes using power to its brutal end), OBJ may be intimidated to join a moving train, if one emerges. In his true character, even when he hates a moving train, he will pretend to join until he can pull a trick on them. Being out of Aso Rock, he knows how not to fight a battle he can lose.

So a lot is possible.

In real politics, a second can make a difference. What is important is that the players understands the factors at play and try to maximize it.
^^^^^^Chairman i salute you and the analysis.Well spoken.Only equation missing is the minorities and religious organizations such as CAN.I doubt the Muslims have any such central political pressure group and shy away from same. That said atleast your perception of the situation is true to a large extent. cool cool cool cool

I have never and wouldn't support extra-judicial killing, it doesn't matter who is involved because a threat to justice anywhere is a threat to justice all over the world.
^^^^ Then am with you all the way.The victims were helpless and exploited. As such justice most be done. While others should be encouraged to come out with similar cases. Also within the ranks of the police some people don't share in this but are reluctant to condemn or come out and speak against it simply because of the brotherhood thing amongst them. You should know you serve this people and regardless of there crime the agents role is to get evidence and allow justice do the rest.People must stand against this extra-judicial killings and trigger happy security agents. All killings must be investigated properly and the station or police that have the bodies in the jurisdiction be questions or threatened with a dismissal.if they didn't do it,then who did?Because you can't bundle such a number of people in to a vehicle and say you didn't raise suspicion from check points or security agents along the way or somewhere around the scene of crime. So start with the DPO that has jurisdiction there!!!!

saintohia: The first mistake was allowing a Boro Haram staunch man to head NPF. Ask people who knows about Jos crisis and how he was indicted.

A dog would always give birth to dog, he wouldn't change but would rather be using his agents in disguise to continue their evil mission..

This wouldn't and can never happen in any other state except Nigeria.
^^^^^What of the Apo six killed in 2005.Who was the IG then remind me? Also was it boko-haram inspired then.Okay how about the over 30 youths rounded up in maiduguri from a community and shot dead by the JTF, with disregard for who is who last year under this IGP.What of Katsina-ala during Obj where the army killed 70 men over the killing of 19 soldiers, what of the sacking of communities in camp 5 delta. Now bring your mind back to several other such incidence of missing people detained by the police and never seen again going on quietly.let me tell you is better you channel your effort towards identifying the culprits involved and narrowing down on the incident than play the usual ethnic hate card.Do you think this extra-judicial killings started today or do you think the stations are purely staffed with a particular ethnic stock or exist only in the east. Its nation wide and the police at different levels depending on the trigger happy ones carry out this act.It has nothing to do with tribe but disregards for the judicial system and corruption. You are in custody and little is done to handle the situation am sorry to say this is where it could end.Its a thing about expendable persons to the police. If MASSOB had not spoken this issue would have remained a story. If it was Hausa corpse or some other tribe which also happen in different police stations accross the nation you will hear nothing since they have nobody.

When AMNESTY international was shouting that extra-judicial killings is rampant in Nigeria i bet people like you would be saying since na them no problem.Today its at your door step.So will you drop the ethnic card and join hands with others to say enough and seek the support of others to get justice now or you will isolate yourselves and further allow the culprits escape under the chaos of tribalism?

Well,Atleast it now sends a clear message how the Nigerian security agents behave. My only issue here is while alot of people up north were detained and abused of killed, alot of people here said they cared less and that all is fair.Whether you are a victim or criminal so long as you are Muslim and Northern its all fair game.In this instance you should know that such a view is sick and misplaced because just maybe, someday you too will feel the pain of the innocent one.undecided undecided undecided undecided
The event that has happened is sad and unacceptable for all i care be it in the north, east, west or where ever. You can't simply use security excuse to murder innocent people and claim its for good or deny it.Atleast Amnesty international has being vindicated of extra-judicial killings in the north which alot of people here have dismissed also. While you view this incidence with shock and pain it is only fair to assume the same pain was felt by people that were arrested up north because they have beards or leave a devout muslim life and cared less. Not because of association to any anti-government or criminal group but, simply because a security personal thought it would be good to show them all regardless. When soldiers decided to invade a community in a revenge attack killing everyone( about 30 youths) regardless of there innocence.People here shouted is fair game or kill them all in-short use the airforce jets. You gave the agents the power and excuse in the name of security to clamp down on perceived treats with absolute disregard for innocent, justice and fairness. cry cry cry
Maybe it's time to tell Government and security not every MASSOB or Igbo person is a treat or criminal and its not every Muslims or Northerner that is boko-haram or terrorist.Government must always do justice and people must be allowed a chance in court to defend themselves and not secret taken to a hidden place and murdered in cold blood.Everyday i imagine the faces of the victims.how they would be scared or afraid to die.How no one would be there to say this ones are innocent. cry cry cry cry
Sad Sad Sad
My heart goes to there family and FGN must stop this killer agents who derive joy in being trigger happy than professional in crime prevention.

Ngwakwe: Silence is not peace. You cheat others for decades and their silence you call peace.
When the kite grabs the baby Duck and the mother Duck let it go is not called peace.
You have to look at the bigger picture and realize that alot has changed. It may happen before but with this out burst is obvious, people are not willing to take it.My take is that if true you as a tribe or group can not impose certain things at this time of the nation existence on any other, because people are looking out for such so they cry foul.Don't get me wrong. This may all be a ploy for all i care to paint the COAS black. That does not mean the COAS or C in C will not want to have a united force and a loyal rank of offices that could lay down there life at his command.Lets be cautious is all am suggesting.Than publicly sound like the cries or issue is right if true and okay by all standards simply because he is doing it for Igbos. Lets not give room for such, the role this arm of security plays is crucial and critical to Nigeria's existence. You may call it cheat or what ever.I don't know much about it.That you feel its irrelevant for others to cry foul is not in your interest to ignore them regardless of the there reasons.I am saying before it gets sour, address it and stop playing the tribal card as If Nigeria is all about Igbo.
Politics › Re: Mr President Call Ihejerika To Order by hakanai(m): 9:08am On Feb 05, 2013
I think the emphasis or action of the civilian populace on this issue is what may result in trouble. Also even if the presidency or FG decides to act on this they will do it discreetly to avoid confirming the incidence to the public. That said i think if true then ways should be found to manage the situation to avoid getting the army involved in the nations heated politics. Some folks here dismiss this issue with disregard but it will be wise to choose our actions carefully in every situation especially this one. Some don't bother or simply prefer it this way because it could simply be a means to an end or its from there stock.Be wary that not all crisis end the way one expects them to and if avoidable then that options become priority looking at the implications. This are clear indicators of crisis or propaganda meant to cause rancor.
The Army/Military of Nigeria remains and stands as one good example of unity and strength for this nation and if that is destroyed i wonder what holds us together again. The disgruntled elements should be listened to and the issues resolve. If its clearly an act of mischief makers then i say deal with the culprits squarely as this is actually trying to bring dissent in the army and chaos with in her ranks.

^^^^@OP this is the much i came up with from a link. The maps do not capture alot of tribes that may even be larger numerically than others currently on your displayed map.Eg in Borno it is known that after the Kanuri in numbers is the Babur.Somehow that is replaced with Marghi in your map,That's not true. Also in my list it's possible certain tribes are now in new states not as in the above list anymore. If you observe certain tribes placed under plateau are now in a separate state(Nasarawa). There could be more.So its open for correction.
I am from the Proud Babur tribe of Borno state!!!!!! cool cool cool cool

Baba na professional politician with a good mix of military strategy. I like this man plenty. You can call it hypocrisy! Its called simple wayo in politics o! No permanent foe and no permanent enemy. The two ex-leaders namely Obj and IBB play it so fine they walk freely around Nigeria and can enter any camp to trade there interest and form alliances. That is critical in politics o!They could destroy one while you remain full of praises for them.

taharqa: VERY GOOD QUESTION @Verysincere9jerian. THANK YOU very mush grin

Oya, let the resident HYPOCRITES come and answer the simple and harmless question... At least if GEJ is expected to have solved ALL the problems of Nigeria in a little over 2 years, then Nassarawa the ONLY state controlled by CPC should have no problem showing us just a few of what they have been able to do in 2 years (only one state NA, piece of cake really).

^^^^ what of Bayelsa while GEJ was deputy and later governor and nationwide 13 years of PDP.This buttlickers truly got short sight.CPC is how old and when did cpc governor start in Nassarawa?Yeah right after alot of PDP governors who have nothing to show.that includes people like GEJ in Bayelsa.

@op i also demand you share with us the positions being held by the south states and lest compare them. In short just the south south and lets see who is with the edge and what that same group has offered her people back home. You list the above as if they are the only positions and the most juicy positions in Nigeria. Abegii allow people rest.List every key position and then lets break it down and compare. That said i would even prefer by 6 zones so we see what you mean exactly. undecided undecided undecided undecided
Politics › Re: Who Is The Problem Of The North? by hakanai(m): 1:25pm On Jan 11, 2013
So much for asking northerners and southerners answering. They always want to claim they know the north always and would even argue with a northerner about what he thinks and feels always.Allow them speak!
That said i still go with certain views here.quality education, visionary leadership and religious scholars of both faiths/devout followers. Its more about hearts and minds here.

Quality education would empower them to think beyond there present limits and aspire for more that the world offers them peacefully.

Visionary leadership, people who think ahead and work in line with that to deliver on what best will take people to the promise land. Not people who divide along faith or tribe.don't keep your thoughs on this to Muslims, because xtians are fully doing same. Its both ways. You have a xtian leadership he rallies his fellow religious people to hijack activities and ensure they dominate everything not on merits but because he feels he is helping his own.Even secretly people from his faith would ask that of him.Forget the open love.It is what this political elements do in secret to ensure things around them dominate that kills unity.from the tribe to faith or political clique. If they can remove that and work honestly with persons that want a change for the better not sentiments.

religious extremism is another major killer that i even feel people who claim moderation may not really be moderate but just do that out of shame the public could think of them harshly. Alot happens here and its also from the entire religious groups excluding paganism for now.How is that? You lay emphasis on educating your followers the ills of the other group to make them hate everything about them is the hate needed start any religious intolerance.Am a muslim and i can tell you,i have also being to some xtians occasions to rejoice with friends but just some how you find religious leaders spew intolerance or sentiments. We all know this.People simply pretend. The day someone would begin to rise in the place of worship to say sir i love my neighbor and i think you are wrong about your views, then a change could start there. The preachers know what we like and know what could trigger us.destruction is easier so is the under lying elements that make them happen. In this instance Can someone show me the convicted mass killers of Dogo na hawa(approx 400 xtains) amonsgt the fulanis or beroms that killed people in Kuru karama (150 muslims)? They live amongst us and attend same religious place of worship with us and we know them. How long would we protect them and how long would we groom more extremist. When do we tell them to stop? that man or child or woman is my neighbor and not everyone you say is my enemy.

Sincere 9gerian: While waiting for the report from the horse's mouth, I opened the link in your post and found the following policy statements in the link interesting:

. "Initiate action to amend our Constitution with a view to devolving powers, duties and responsibilities to states and local governments in order to entrench Federalism and the Federal spirit"
My response: But the NASS (with CPC members) is already embarking on this exercise.

"Restructure government for a leaner, more efficient and adequately compensated public service"
My response: does he intend to sack another 1million civil servants? (he did it before as head of state)

"Require full disclosure in all media outlets of all government contracts over N100m prior to award and during implementation at regular intervals"
My response: but the CPC govt in Nasarawa does not do this

. "Enact the Freedom of Information Bill so that government held data sets can be requested and used by the public,.."
My response: already done

"Seek to amend the Constitution to require local governments to publish their meeting minutes, service performance data and items of spending over N10M"
My response: the CPC members in the NASS can push for this in the ongoing constitutional amendment. But the CPC govt in Nasarawa has not made ANY effort in this direction.

"Begin widespread consultations to amend the Constitution to enable States and Local Governments to employ State and Community Police to address the peculiar needs of each community"
My response: the CPC members in the NASS can push for it in the ongoing constitutional amendment. As we speak the biggest opposition to state police is coming from the north. I support state police too

. "Initiate policies to ensure that Nigerians are free to live and work in any part of the country by removing state of origin, tribe, ethnic and religious affiliations and replace those with state of residence"
My response: this is good but can only be done thru constitutional amendment and the process is on in the NASS as we speak.

"Generate, transmit and distribute from current 5,000 – 6,000 MW to at least 15,000 MW of electricity by 2015 and increasing to 50,000 MW by 2019 with a view to achieving 24/7 uninterrupted power supply by 2019 whilst simultaneously ensuring development of sustainable/renewable energy "
My response: very good. It is interesting to note that Buhari's campaign document estimated that Nigeria will have un-interrupted power supply as EARLY as 2019. Suprisingly, no hint on how all the megawatts mentioned will be generated. No hint on privatisation or no privatisation.

"Public Private Partnership that will ensure the (a) construction of 3,000km of Superhighway including service trunks and (b) building of up to 4,800km of modern railway lines – one third to be completed by 2015"
My response: this is already being done

"Speedily pass the much-delayed Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB) andensure that local content issues are fully addressed"
My response: this is already being done. The biggest opposition is again coming from the north

"Guarantee a minimum price for selected crops and facilitate storage of agricultural products as and when necessary"
My response: this is DISASTER. Govt fixing of prices ALWAYS lead to disaster. We'v not forgotten how Nigerian's queued for milk, rice and sugar under Buhari's regime. Fixing of fuel price by govt DESTROYED the down stream sector in Nig

"Create additional middle-class of at least 2 million new home owners by 2015 by enacting a national mortgage system that will lend at single digit interest rates for purchase of owner occupier houses"
My response: HOW?
Well like i pointed out, anything said our provided for you is not meant for you to understand the policy of Buhari.People like you are out to spoil his name or prove your level of hate towards him via the propaganda base drive. That said considering antecedence would you say GEJ and Buhari track records before attaining leadership roles in this country are compatible? I mean what each did before they lead the nation.I want to see you,if truly a sincere Nigerian ask what the person of GEJ did at state level up to this time. Please be kind to also make reference to real monetary figures.Like how much was spent to get what?
About you asking me now for an interview,is rather silly of you.first you wanted to know and now you are asking me for an interview.if that is provided you jump to birth certificate right? If you are sincere then trail his campaigns and listen to his talk.Last i checked it was GEJ who refuse to turn up for a life debt to compare and contrast the policy of each aspirant.I don't know much but try and ask out there some people have Buhari's number and could share it with you.If you are that desperate for direct one on one interview.Buhari is very accessible and humble to answer your questions directly.SO rather that feed of crap meet the man!

Maurice Iwu And A Team Of Scientists Records Breakthrough In the Treatment HIV/AIDS
By www.dailytimes.com.ng
http://www.spyghana.com/maurice-iwu-and-a-team-of-scientists-records-breakthrough-in-the-treatment-hivaids/

Former Chairman of Nigeria’s Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Professor Maurice Iwu is among a team of scientists that has recorded a breakthrough in the treatment of Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS).

Iwu and his team mates have discovered an oral botanical drug called Crofelemer which the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved as healthy and potent for the treatment of the dreaded disease.

The latest invented drug is the second botanical, and an orally administered drug to be approved by FDA since 2006.

The former INEC chairman is an acclaimed pharmacologist and tropical medicine expert.

It would be recalled that the first botanical drug to be approved in the United States was a tropical green tea extract, Veregen, in 2006.
However, the drug, Crofelemer is the first to be approved in the United States to treat HIV -associated diarrhoea.

Crofelemer was from the latex of the South American sangre de drago tree (dragon’s blood, Croton lechleri). A red, blood-resembling latex leaks from the tree when its bark is cut, and it is this substance that contains the novel polymolecular structure crofelemer, originally developed and standardised by Shaman Pharmaceuticals. Fulyzag is the second botanical drug approved by the agency. The drug’s approval marks an important event in the decades-long history of crofelemer.’’

The latest ‘’Healthnews,’’ in a report entitled, ‘’Nigeria’s Maurice Iwu, others record breakthrough in HIV/AIDS treatment: Amazon tree-derived medicine cleared for usage in HIV patients with diarrhea,’’ stated, ‘’On New Year’s Eve of 2012, the US Food and Drug Administration announced its approval of crofelemer, marking the second time a botanical, and the first time an orally administered botanical, has received drug approval from the Administration. The first botanical drug to be approved in the United States was a topical green tea extract, Veregen in 2006. Both botanical drugs meet all US pharmaceutical requirements and can be dispensed only by prescription.

“The latest breakthrough owes its success to a pioneering research carried out in the United States by a team of scientists which included Nigeria’s Professor Maurice Iwu, an acclaimed pharmacologist and tropical medicine expert.” The news said.

^^^^ Finally Iwu has found something useful to do.That is why Nigeria has not tackled its critical issues head on due to putting the wrong people in the wrong places. After which they refuse to change them even where it becomes evident they are not performing. Atleast Iwu is better off a researcher in his original line of study. If he had remained in INEC only God knows his fate.CONGRATs sha!!! Good one.
