Abolodje:The true path to success Sorry for the misleading hook. There is no true path to success. Or, better put, There is NO one true path. This is because success means different things to different people. There isn't a single way to be successful that works for everyone. There isn't a shiny, well-paved highway that leads everyone to the glittering city of success. No, life isn't that simple, and neither is success. The point is that your idea of success is unique to you. You have your own goals, dreams, and challenges that are different from anyone else's. And that's okay. What's important is that you define what success means to you. "To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment." So be yourself, define your success, and create your path. You've got this. |
Student loans are a financial burden which does not quite make sense on a pure accounting basis. So, you have signed up for a loan (a liability, surrender of your future earnings) and you have nothing to show for it. On the other hand, when you take a loan on a house (a mortgage), you have a liability (a mortgage) and an asset (a house), so when things get tough, you can sell the asset to cover that liability. And in a worst case scenario, you simply file for bankruptcy and walk away from it - with a beaten up credit score, but you recover fully in about 7 years (in US, bankruptcy is removed within 7 years from the person's credit profile). Easy. Simple. Elegant. Now, we have a student loan. You take a loan and you spend money. You gain nothing tangible - no assets. You have an expectation of future earnings, but it's not a guarantee. However, once you are out of school, loan is due - regardless of whether or not you have means to pay for it, such as a job. Now, when things get very tough - let's say you need to pay rent and you need to eat and you would like to get a family - but the student loan is still there, and it's not going away. You can't discharge it in a simple bankruptcy. You can't make it go away in an easy way - it's a forever burden. Summary When we reach the point where politicians are running for office on a platform of, “free college for everyone,” you know that we have gone past the tipping point. “Free” college is just going to throw kerosene on this fire. We are seeing some cracks around the edges, e.g. coding bootcamps and startup apprenticeships like Praxis, but what is needed is a better educated consumer. PS I saw a question on career section this afternoon. “Should I go to school X or school Y? (Money is an object, but I might get some financial aid at school Y.)” School Y’s cost of attendance is more than twice that of school X. No thought of can I afford either one of these schools? No thought of preparing a financial analysis. We have a generation of irresponsible morons whose parents are mentally absent. That’s why we have a financial aid crisis. ![]() 💭Leadership is not about seeking personal glory, instead its about taking responsibility for the people you are in charge of. 🎯Some key takeaways: ✔️Responsible leaders take accountability for their actions. Instead of blaming others, they identify the problem and try to fix it. ✔️Therefore, to become responsible leaders professionals must remember to take accountability for actions and stop blaming others for their mistakes. ✔️One of the foremost qualities in a successful employee or leader is a willingness to accept Responsibility for one's actions and behavior, good or bad. ✔️Taking Responsibility means making decisions, taking action, setting high standards, learning from our mistakes and always doing what we say. ✔️Lastly, leadership is about setting an example. What is 51% Attack ? A 51% attack is a cybersecurity threat that can occur in blockchain networks. It involves an individual or a group gaining control over more than 50% of the total mining power in the network. With majority control, the attacker can manipulate the blockchain by creating an alternative chain of blocks. This allows them to engage in activities like double spending, where they can spend the same cryptocurrency multiple times. By creating a longer private chain, the attacker can invalidate previously confirmed transactions and disrupt the network's normal functioning. During a 51% attack, the attacker can also manipulate consensus rules by modifying or excluding transactions from blocks. They can prioritize their own transactions, censor specific transactions, or even create new transactions that were never originally made. This can lead to network disruptions, loss of trust, and financial losses for participants relying on the blockchain. However, conducting a 51% attack is not easy. It requires significant computational power and resources, making it more feasible in smaller or less secure blockchain networks. Well-established networks with a large number of participants and a high level of decentralization, like Bitcoin, are more resistant to such attacks. While a 51% attack remains a known vulnerability, it is important to note that they are relatively rare and are primarily associated with smaller cryptocurrencies or less secure networks. The broader cryptocurrency ecosystem continues to evolve and implement measures to enhance security and mitigate the risks of such attacks. Join m y c r y p t o n g on telegram |
Wait until it's an issue. For example, a few weeks into seeing each other, I went with my bf-to-be to her parents' place to pick something up. He wasn't expecting them to be there, but they were. He introduced me as his friend. In the car afterwards, I told him I chuckled to myself when he said that. He replied, "Well, I wasn't going to say 'the girl I'm sleeping with,' and I didn't think you'd appreciate me saying girlfriend." I replied, "You can say girlfriend." "I didn't think that's what you wanted." "It is. Can I call you my girlfriend?" "Ha, yes." "Sweet." By calling her your girlfriend, you're saying you would rather have a relationship with her than sleep with all of the other women who will ever be interested. When you are sure that's the case, and no sooner, that is when you either bring it up, or say yes when she does. |
