okay.
dies this seem like it may be very difficult for "many hospitals" to achieve right?

your honest professional opinion.
Honestly, even in advanced countries, it is meant for tertiary centres. It usually requires a multi disciplinary approach under normal settings. For example, let us assume the spleen is bleeding from gun shot wound, that requires immediate surgery by a surgeon and obviously an anesthesiologist is needed. It may be the lungs that is bleeding, you need a thoracic surgeon immediately. Even if the patient don't need more than chest tubes, you still need to be in a centre that can mobilise resources in a short time in case the bleeding from the lungs is not subsiding or there is persistence of say hemopneumothorax. The immediate condition alone doesn't matter. If the condition of the patient starts deteriorating suddenly, you need to be monitored in a tertiary centre that can immediately mobilise resources. Don't forget also that in Nigeria , we pay at the point of service. So, if the patient requires immediate surgery, ten pints of blood or more, assisted ventilation etc, do you honestly believe the private hospital can quickly afford to call a surgeon, an anesthesiologist at a very high cost and buy ten pints of blood for patients at their own cost assuming the hospital can even quickly mobilise such. If they ask for deposit won't you shout? Don't forget the patient may need a quick ultrasound/CT scan to delineate the site of intra abdominal bleeding for example before moving the patient to theatre meaning you also need a radiologist. Nigerians don't appreciate the complexity of medicine. They equate a big building to a hospital and once the hospital refers them they become aggressive saying you must do something. It is not straightforward.

Are you insinuating that every report that has been published about a hospital rejecting victims of gunshot wounds were distorted?

and it seems like you know about the medical profession...
what do you think is the standard requirement needed to extract a bullet from a person?
Unless the bullet is impacted close to a vital organ, removing the bullet is not the immediate priority. The first thing is the hemodynamic stability of the patient. The patient may need an immediate surgery but usually not because the bullet must be extracted. The surgery may be needed to repair bleeding vessels, intestines etc and in the process the bullet may be extracted if it is not dangerous doing so at that time. However, removing the bullet is not the priority. The patient may need blood transfusion, enough drips, assisted ventilation, arrest of bleeding in the acute stage. Ordinarily, a gun shot is a case for tertiary centres abinitio. Meanwhile, prior to the law that authorized hospitals to treat patients without doctors report, it was a common scenario asking for a police report ( sometimes they used it as an excuse to discharge patient rather than telling them they can't handle it or that the patient is dead already), however since they enacted the law, no doctor is foolish enough to use it as an excuse. That is what I am trying to infer.

you are not "every" doctor and you certainly don't work in "every" hospital.
it is a "cliche" in Nigeria.
whatever reasons they might have I repeat, it wasn't stated other than the need for a police report.
and what do I have to gain with your balls, please keep them.cheesy
No problem then. You believed the report from a journalist who is just interested in sensational news to gather traffic and you insist on crucifying hospitals and doctors. Every single doctor knows you can now treat a patient without police report in Nigeria because it is now a law so which doctor will now tell you I won't treat for police report. All those reports you were hearing were distorted. However, as a typical Nigerian with a mindset, you will want to insist it is true. General hospital Ota should be closed for not attending to the patient. Now you are happy.

in accordance to the incident report, the deceased was rejected at Merit Hospital for lack of "police report". if there were other issues as it concerns Merit's actions, it wasn't stated.
we know every hospitals are of different capabilities, but the narrative of rejecting gunshot wounds for lack of police report, sounds like a broken record we all tired of. let other professional reasons be given that won't have to make lives seem worthless.
so why did GENERAL HOSPITAL SENT HIM AWAY TOO? You think doctors are foolish? No doctor will tell you they are rejecting him for police report. They will tell you to take him to general hospital. I can bet my balls that is exactly what happened. They may ask for police report because when police start their investigation, they will still come and ask you about the case and you can just tell them you asked them to take him.to general hospital and you asked for report at that time but they had none yet. On the day Barca was defeated, a drunk guy hit five guys critically. They brought the five to us without any report. The police at the site refused to help the people transport the victims. They wanted to tow the vehicle since the guy had escaped and police knew that was the only way to trace him so rather than help the victims they didn't. Four were deeply unconscious and we asked them to move them to GH they were begging. We accepted two, two died and one was eventually moved. One just came out of coma about two days ago. We did that because we had the capability to treat....they were rejected by two other hospitals but I also know those hospitals couldn't handle it. No doctor...I repeat....no doctor will categorically tell you I am rejecting you for lack of police report. It is a lie

Nchenches:
The so-called Merit Hospital must be closed down immediately. Whoever was the doctor that refused to treat the injured person did not adhere to hypocratic oath he swore to.
What sort of USELESS POLICE ORDER would stop a true doctor from treating a patient with bullet wound?
A true police officer knows that if a wounded armed robbery suspect is saved from dying, he shall help the police to fish out accomplices of the robber and mode of operations of robbers.
You guys don't know how to read in between. They took him first to MERIT hospital which you want to be closed and then GENERAL HOSPITAL TOO....Why not close the general hospital who referred him to another one too? Nigerians usually misinterpret referral to rejection. The so called MERIT obviously did not have the capability to handle it. All they needed to do at most was just set up a drip like normal saline and then REFER. In the process, they may ask for POLICE REPORT but that doesn't mean they are referring for lack of police report. For you to know how critical the case was....the general hospital too REFERRED TO ANOTHER GENERAL HOSPITAL. It means the case was meant for a tertiary centre probably with CRITICAL CARE UNIT. The problem we have is the referral system which you can blame on govt. There should be free ambulance services that anyone can call that will take them to appropriate centres. You present a bad case to a glorified clinic and they ask you to go to general hospital, you will start blaming them that they rejected you. What should they do? They can't handle it....it is not the same thing as rejection. However when patient are reporting it, they will term it rejection because you asked them to take him to general hospital. They will keep saying....help us to attend to him now.

Congratulations helpee! Feels good to know that your band was upgraded. Congrats brother!

For those asking (I don't know how to tag names on NL, I will be glad if anyone is Willi g to guide me), I registered with bother BC and IDP. I initially registered with BC to write my exam on 20the June but I received a cancelation mail from them due to COVID scare. So I requested for a refund and immediately registered with IDP so as to meet up with JUne 20 cos I needed the result urgently.

The materials that really helped me; I wasn't able to download Cambridge resources though I heard they are great. I used IELTS Liz website, and future learn to understand the 4 sections. Learnt about question techniques and practiced. I also subscribed to daily listening practice on YouTube and this helped me a lot in my listening section.

All the best guys!
Thanks

what steps did you take
Nothing. Mine was Academic though. The very day I got the result was the day I posted about it here. Since I got encouragement here, I applied for EOR same day. From the information I gathered online, you have a good chance if you need upgrade in speaking and /or writing since both are subjective. Rarely will you get an upgrade in listening and reading. Also, if you don't need more than 0.5, you stand a good chance. I actually needed an upgrade from.6.5 to 7.0 and I was lucky, they added one full band instead of 0.5. Go online to download the EOR form. Complete the forms and upload evidence of payment. That's all

Over confidence killed me but I think I will have to request for a remark. Although, I only studied on YouTube for two days. I thought I spent all my life speaking English. I only practiced the listening on YouTube. I did close to 15 examples within two days. I never did writing...that is my strong point ! I always write things so ? Speaking is my hubby so I never ever practiced that. I did two readings online and I felt comfortable so within just two days, I went for the exam. However, I presently need 7 all round. My result came yesterday. I wasn't even expecting to have problem with writing but I was shocked. LRWS is 7.5, 8.5, 6.5, 7.5. With that writing, the whole show is spoilt but I felt that was my strong point. I want to know...what are my chances with re marking? I know I am a good writer but I am scared maybe there is a specific format they use that I don't know about since I didn't even write a single article before the exam. I just read the question type. I am suspecting task 1. I definitely shouldn't have problem with task 2
. I got mail today. I just checked online. They added one band to my writing. To God be the glory. IELTS sorted.

you are a darling. You encouraged me to go for remarking and guess what, I got this mail today. The fact that they are refunding my 15k is enough to show they have increased my band in either speaking or reading. I just pray it is reading. I will collect it tommorrow or next. Thanks once again
NB. I just checked it online. They added one band to my writing.

When you have only one doctor doing everything, when I had surgery, at General hospital, the doctors were about 3, excluding the anesthetist, what one could not see his colleagues will see it, it was a team work, and I didn't have any further complications to the Glory of God. From the day I decided to have the surgery I refused private hospital, even though it took me months to be booked, it was worth the wait.
Thank God nothing went wrong. It is way more complex than that. That you didn't have complications had nothing to do with general hospital. Complications happen everywhere and even with several surgeons things can happen

Which job....for fuccckng his wife well or what? And he met same guy with the former oloso wife( at least she confessed using sex to pay for money which is a classical description of oloso) in his own house on many occasions and the mumu husband is still smiling. RomanceRe: My Ten Year Struggle With Sex Addiction Is Ruining me. by helpee(m): 4:49am On Jan 10, 2020
@roadtorecovery, decades ago, I was addicted to masturbation in school. It was so bad that one day, I went on a marathon fasting for three days without food and water. I was so tired. I slept with serious hunger about one hour before I finally broke the fast and I woke up with hard erection pressing the foam. The feeling was so sweet and I continued rubbing the erection against the foam till I released. Come and see frustration. But that was also my point of deliverance. I just told myself....IF I MASTURBATE, NA GOD I OFFEND NO BE DEVIL SO I DONT CARE AGAIN. Truth is....I still masturbated for close to a year afterwards but I was no longer feeling so guilty about it and the lesser the guilt, the lesser I was doing it. Let me tell you the problem...YOU FEEL YOU ARE OFFENDING GOD SO YOU WILL KEEP RELAPSING. Don't mind what over religious folks will tell you. Stop feeling extremely guilty. It will lead to a psychiatric problem. You already have at least two features of major depression which is a psychiatric problem. You are feeling low all the time and you are losing interest in things. Once the devil knows you no longer feel too guilty he will lose his edge over you. Gradually, you won't see the need for the addiction again and you will stop. This is not cocaine or heroine that you need special help. YOU WANT TO USE YOUR ABSTINENCE TO PLEASE GOD. IT WILL BE DIFFICULT COS YOU WILL FEEL GUILTY AFTER EACH RELAPSE AND YOU WILL GIVE UP. Tell the devil....I am not offending you na God I offend . Let God kill his son if that is the way he corrects them. Some people that don't understand what I am saying will tell you I am lying buy I've passed through this before so I am so SURE THE MOMENT YOU STOP THINKING THAT GOD IS HAPPY WITH YOU ONLY WHEN YOU STOP....that is the beginning of your road to deliverance. Wether you are addicted or not, God don't love you more so stop allowing the devil to use that as a bate. You will still go and have sex... but you won't feel guilty and suddenly you will see it will lose its hold on you

A rich guy I know, rushed his wife to the hospital for an emergency medical condition. They bluntly refused to attend to her because the guy didn't have cash on him to deposit.

The guy begged them to treat his wife while he goes to find an ATM to collect money. They still refused. He had to leave his wife alone laying there, to find an ATM.

When he returned with cash it was already too late. His wife was dead. They tried to resuscitate her but the effort was useless.

As the heartbroken husband tried to take his wife's corpse away, the useless hospital demanded he pay ₦150k. The guy dared them to stop him. He left with the corpse without any resistance.

Nigerian hospitals are death traps, some are filled with incompetent doctors and nurses.
keep deceiving yourself. They refused to treat her yet they demanded for 150k. Does it make sense? Of course it doesn't. This is what likely happened....he took the wife to the hospital when she was already dying. The hospital knew she only had 50/50 chance and knowing the Nigerian mentality, they rightly demanded for money cos once a patient dies in Nigeria family won't want to pay. While doing that they were still attending to her. They probably started her on oxygen and started treatment right away while the husband went to look for money. When he came back, the woman died and he outrightly refused to pay hiding under GRIEF and still went ahead spoiling the name of the hospital. So the hospital was right in demanding for their deposit in the first instance. Has it ever occured to you that from what you just said here...the MAN REFUSED TO PAY DESPITE THE HOSPITAL SERVICES AND YOU ARE STILL BLAMING THEM. It is not everyone that visit a hospital that can be saved especially when you present so late but you still need to pay for their services. Whatever made the woman to die so fast could only mean the condition was already critical...they only remembered the hospital when it was too late and the only offence of the hospital was that they asked for money. I AM 100 PERCENT SURE IF THEY DIDN'T DO ANYTHING THEY WONT BE BOLD ENOUGH TO ASK FOR 150K

Well, the consolation here is that there are few doctors in Nigeria who are making the most of what is available to make a difference.

The rest, like people like you, will continue whining about working conditions forgetting that the impairment affecting professionals in Nigeria is not exclusive to doctors.

Let the reform begin with change of attitude.

Egotism is something that has to be managed. Failure begins when people ascribe infallibilty to themselves so much so that when doctors are told to mend their ways, you get the funny rejoinder that they graduated top of their high school classes.

My brother, the notion that people are envious of doctors is a figment of the imagination.

People just want value. Period.
leave preaching for pastors and work. How many doctors do you have left in nigeria? The same way Nigerians are going for medical tourism is the same way doctors themselves are relocating like bees. The truth is that statistically, the best student goes to medical school. It is not even debatable. It is a sure fact. People want value....so the doctor should manufacture equipment to provide value while the engineers whose duty it is to provide the equipment still have the boldness to criticize the doctor that is trying to cover up their uselessness by making use of the available Chinese equipment bought with exorbitant loans. Wait there be looking for value when you can't produce common toothpick and you call yourself engineer. How do you guys feel comfortable calling yourself engineer in Nigeria still amazes me. You have a twisted sense of entitlement and contrarian logic to boot.

So because, according to you, either Nigerian engineers are teaching in secondary schools or Chinese are running engineering practice in Nigeria, then nobody should point glaring inadequacies of medical practice in Nigeria?

And you are supposed to be educated!

An apprehended felon tells the court that he dabbled into crime because he believes Nigerian politicians are stealing?

Nobody expects the medical tourism that typifies Africa/Nigeria to abate, all people are asking is that some doctors should exhibit a modicum of discretion and objectivity...

You don't have to take it personally...
take what personally? You are the one that is lacking in the so called education. The inadequacy of medical practice in Nigeria started with lack of equipment because our poorly trained engineers have failed us. So we can't point out the problem in medical practice without telling you that you are a FAILURE FIRST. Give us equipment first. The engineers that are developing sophisticated medical equipment in America don't have two heads. Stop pointing out the problem in medical profession....help us to solve it by working. We are not even asking for CT SCAN YET...GIVE US THERMOMETER FIRST. Then you will qualify to point out the so called inadequacies...until then shut the Bleep up because you have failed the doctors

Do you know that the singular reason why Nigeria is lacking in infrastructure is because our engineers are docile and rather than think through next way to construct a subway through the busy Lagos metropolis and solve our transportation problem, they are busy looking for doctors to bash online. Granted that the guy went overboard, but the incontestable truth remains that some Nigerian doctors need re-orientation.

Medical practice is intrinsically humanitarian else the Hippocratic sworn by doctors will be a spectacle of nullity.

Nobody is saying people should get medical service f.o.c but then moderation should be the way to go.

Go to some government hospitals and see some doctors fiddling with their smart phones and wasting their time on frivolities when they should use their spare time to update themselves on mordern trends in their profession.

It is not every time we should be sounding politically correct...
Tell us your own profession let Nigerians judge how excellent your chosen profession is....so easy to criticize others when you are most likely more guilty of laxity in your profession. I dare you to tell us your profession. In every profession, people need continuous orientation . So let us know how oriented your own profession is before you take it upon yourself to re orientate doctors.
