In this new series @voiceofthechurch profiles the wealth of Nigerian christian ministries. The Nigerian Catholic church, RCCG, Christ embassy and Winners chapel hold tremendous amount of wealth which is not unusual considering their extensive international reach. One of the major strengths of the Nigerian indigenous churches was their ability to proliferate successfully in foreign nations, this particularly ensured that they were immune to Nigerian economic woes as they continue to receive millions of USD and other currencies from their foreign stations. The internationalisation of these churches has ensured that Nigerian churches continued to boom in the worst of recession in any country it occupies. Today we start by profiling one of the most successful Christian ministries founded four decades ago by Bishop Oyedepo. 10 REASONS WHY WINNERS CHAPEL IS DANGEROUSLY WEALTHY 1) In 2016 Winners Chapel had over #150 billion naira expenditure. Considering Ogun state makes about 75 billion a year on Igr then it is debatable that Winners is wealthier than Ogun state. CAVEAT: It is unclear whether the total expenditure includes or excludes expenditures of subset organizations of the church e.g universities and secondary schools. b. It is unclear whether this figure represents the totality of headquarter's expenditure or merely a summation of individual branch expenditure. If latter is correct then each branch of the winners chapel is spending 25 million naira/annum. 2) Winners Chapel holds about 30 - 40 Billion naira in financial reserves. This is more than a cummulative of Ekiti's Igr for the next 10 years. 3) The Church has an estimated 12,000 pastors on payroll operating its 6000 church network. In comparison the global total number of clerics in Winners equal the 10,000 United Bank Of Africa(UBA) staff strength. 4) The Church tithes a 10thof her income to another Nigerian church. 5) In 2016 the Church spent 10-12 Billion naira on Educational facilities which included a 5 billion naira Research center, its 22nd Secondary school in Delta worth 700 million naira and a befitting Post Graduate residence for Covenant University. 6) In 2018 the church completed a #1 billion naira stadium in its Canaanland campus Ota. 7) The church currently holds a federal govt backed licence to build a private airstrip in Ota. The Church's hangar reportedly can conveniently hold six private jets. However the church maintains one jet for now.9) In the last decade the church has acquired over 24 villages translating to #8000 hectares to build a new city of 15,000 houses which would be the second biggest in the world. 10) Winners currently pays #300 million/annum to subscribe its universities to global data analytics services, which gives its universities far more edge than other universities in the country. https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=373426536757795&id=226796954754088 Lalasticlala

Catholic Church = $140 billion Latter-Day Saints = $67 billion Church of England= $7.8 billion United Kingdom Opus Dei (part of the Catholic Church)= $2.8 Billion Italy |

Important point. Developing countries should focus on primary and sec education. |
By John Ross, Times Higher Education Excessive reverence for universities is holding developing countries back, as their governments fight losing battles to shepherd young people into vocational education, a conference has heard. South African higher education and training minister Naledi Pandor said that a preference for academically focused education is keeping young people out of employment. “Parents and communities believe their children should go to university and get degrees,” she told the Yidan Prize summit in Hong Kong. “We’re trying to shift that interest toward technical and vocational because that’s where the jobs are. That’s where opportunities lie.” Ms Pandor said that the bias against vocational education is particularly pronounced in her country, because black South Africans had been barred from technical colleges during the apartheid era. “Now, with freedom, the gates are open. But we have a real shortage of technical and vocational students, because the majority were excluded from that stream,” she said. “We are shifting the attention of young people towards the sector.” Former Colombian education minister Yaneth Giha said that the situation in her country is similar. “There is big prestige around professions and universities. People don’t want to go to technical institutions,” she said. “We have been developing several programmes to start calling the attention of young people and industry to work together. We need to change the mindset.” Search our database of more than 7,000 global university jobs Ms Giha held two ministerial posts in the government of Juan Manuel Santos before he lost office in August. She said that Mr Santos, as president, had decided seven years ago to construct Colombia’s development around education, as the country began to emerge from its long civil war. Education has replaced defence as the biggest area of budget spending, she said. But Colombia needs to learn from countries such as Germany, where only around 30 per cent of people opt for academic education. “In Colombia it’s exactly the opposite. Seventy per cent of our young men and women want to go to universities for professional careers,” she said. “There’s a big challenge there. We need to change the culture.” Hong Kong property developer and philanthropist Ronnie Chan said that nations where vocational education has remained a popular choice for young people, such as Germany and Switzerland, boast the strongest economies in Europe. “In East Asia, face is more important. ‘If I don’t get into a proper university, my whole family is shamed’ – that kind of thing has to be addressed. It’s the fault of the Chinese mothers,” he said. Mr Chan said that China produces about 7 million graduates with bachelor’s degrees every year. “Many of them never find a job, and yet people are saying that there’s a tremendous shortage of talent and human resources in China. “How come these university graduates are not finding jobs? Nobody wants to go for vocational education and training, but that’s really where the need is in China today.” https://www.timeshighereducation.com/news/higher-education-obsession-holds-back-developing-countries Lalasticlala TheVictorious |
Davido is a stupid brat... I don't know what any mumu would even go for this concert for... |
Great idea. They should seek for more funds though as #300 million is not enough to establish a uni even at the most basic level. A minimum of a billion naira and they are quite ready to go for first phase. With just #300 million NUC would give them tremendous problems. I remember Sword Of Spirit Min led by Wale Oke having to source for #2 billion to even kick start Precious Cornerstone University in Oyo. #300 mill can only really tar roads and do drainages... The MOU project has been in the pipeline for about more than a decade, only hindered by availability of funds but nonetheless 300m is small. |
The proposed university(Moses Orimolade University) was being spearheaded and would be financed by the C&S Movement Church Worldwide. Adeoti described the church’s intervention in education sectors as very timely, saying the current tertiary institutions in the country, especially universities, were inadequate. He said that they could not match the exponential growth of the country’s population. According to him, there is the urgent need for religious organisations and well-meaning individuals and groups to complement government’s efforts through massive investment in the education sector. The monarch advised the C&S Church leaders to consider making the proposed institution a specialised university for ease of acquisition of its official licence from the National Universities Commission (NUC). The monarch expressed the community’s appreciation to the church’s authorities for the honour and recognition of locating the institution in their town. He said: “Though C&S church members are happy today, but the entire community members of Omu-Aran are happier that this is happening in our town. “There is no doubt that the existing number of universities in the country cannot match the explosion in the population of Nigerians. “I promise you all here that my chiefs and I will continue to monitor the progress of work for its speedy completion,” he said. Pastor Thomas Fakile, the Chairman Planning Committee of the proposed university, said that the project was informed by the desire to address the inadequate institutions in the country. “The issue is that in the next 15 years, the population of Nigeria is likely to double its present population according to the United Nations (UN) statistics. “If the universities do not grow correspondingly with the population, it means we will have problems in the education sector,” he said. Rev. Samuel Abidoye, the Spiritual Leader of the church, said that the church would channel its available resources toward an accelerated completion of the project. He added that the church would spend about N300 million on the college’s building project that would last 18 months to complete. EMILO2STAY:Talking to believers Jesus said in Mathew 18:18 "I tell you the truth, whatever you forbid on earth will be forbidden in heaven, and whatever you permit on earth will be permitted in heaven." If the Church says DEC 25th is Christ birthday celebration even heaven will not contest it. The Church is God's embassy on Earth and whatever the church decides is acceptable to Jesus. End of discussion. |
Well, you can just become dangerously wealthy as your bishop. |
We are not under the Law. Christ died for all including children born out of wedlock. You guys should quit being hypocrites. |
NotComplaining:You wrote all this nonsense by itself. I'm glad to tell you I didn't read it past the first line. If Christianity makes you angry go on and jump over the cliff... |
AcuraZDX:Lol u ppl dey call lala now. But if the post was something edifying una go tell us say today no be Sunday... |
To tell someone to sow a seed isn't wrong. But to use force and gimmicks to collect money forcibly is devilish. This is reason why I don't just attend any church, many so called pastors out there have their bellies as their gods. |
cosse:Thank you. You can definitely use it... |
chiefqueen:Sister free me, if Christianity is built upon lies then why are you concerned. Live your life anyhow you want and leave Christians out of it. |
This guy is really dull... Nobody said Christ was born on the 25th, it is just a day Christians picked to celebrate the birth of Jesus. Yes it was a former paganic holiday but when pagans turned Christians they chose the day which was formerly a celebration of everything vile to celebrate love, one another and the birth of Christ. This is the same way pagans turned their former shrines into churches as a way of exemplifying the dominion of Christ above any other gods in their communities. By turning the 25th to Christmas, or shrines to churches the former pagans were submitting everything dear to themselves to Christ. When a demon possessed person is exorcised in the name of Jesus and the person then accepts Christ as his lord and personal savior, the Holy Spirit would enter such a soul irrespective of whether legions of demons where living there before, because the name and blood of Jesus is a sanctifying power. If anything even remotely demonic is sanctified unto Christ, from that moment on it changes and belongs to Jesus. When the Ark of Covenant was stolen and forcibly taken into Dagon's shrine, the following morning had Dagon fallen face flat. This is because all of the earth and its constituent belongs to God almighty including the days, hours and minutes plus the very materials used in making dagon. This is why the apostles allowed Christians to eat foods sacrificed unto idols because a believer in Christ is a god on his own. So dedicating 25th to celebrate Jesus is actually giving to God what he already owns. Saying one day belongs to the devil is actually exhalting the devil. What on earth did the devil create to deserve a day? He didn't create anything and has no right to anything. Everything he possesses today he stole and our Christ backed mandate permits us to take all of it back. The earth and its fullness thereof. If care is not taken we would start celebrating Jesus again during Halloween! It is not a conspiracy anything, most pastors know this even before you were born Mr. Daddy Frozen... |
Amazing! Loved Kenneth Hagin's departure's story too. Hagin, if you are familiar with his books had always said he wouldn't want to live past 80s. And praise the Lord after living over 60 years healthy his departure was equally as peaceful at the age of 83 . In fact, one of his protégés from Africa, Oyedepo, had flown two weeks before to USA in preparation for Hagin's departure on promptings of the Holy spirit.... Blessed are those that depart in Christ, those whose blood and sweat became the seeds of this movement since 2,000 years ago. They share in the glory of heaven and walk the streets of Gold, swim in the River of Life and would receive the eternal gift of God's presence. If you've ever had a relation who has been gifted to see heaven or by yourself had a glimpse you would know Heaven isn't a place to miss, an absolute definition of prosperity, awe, splendour and magnificence. vezycash:I'm not even a programmer sir. But I can manage programmers to do what I want... There are billionaires in tech that can't write a single line of code. |
vezycash:Don't know whether you are a cu grad or an impostor but all you said about CU is a mountain of trash. The entirety of Piggybank founders are Covenant grads, same with PushCV. The entire founding team of KoraNetwork led by Dickson Nsofor are Covenant grads. Kora raised $12 million in a round of funding. Softcom was founded by a CU grad. I myself cofounded a tech startup in real estate that is doing pretty well for a four month old company. SANWO a fintech from CU has over 10,000 customers from its own community so I would advise to correct your statement and don't ever try to ridicule CU grad here as slavish employees who have no sense of direction. Glink2018:Ok triple your medication. It would interest you to know I didn't even read your epistle past first line. What you sincerely need is prompt medical attention in Aro not attention on nairaland. Wishing you speedy recovery in 2018 |
FA13:And I know a lot of Covenant folks that work in silicon valley. A number of cu friends that study in uni of Cambridge and many ivy leagues. Are u the admission officer of ivy leagues? Lol don't be funny we are not your mate when it comes to foreign studies. If OAU sends 5% of grad class to foreign schools for graduate studies then Covenant must have sent 30%... |
proffemi:You are correct. I'm going to correct the post. |
proffemi:Apologies Prof. Personally, I take it personal when I see students oppressed unnecessarily. |
