hmmm! A nice question. But then, as I said if someone is dead in igbos land, its not just a person that buries it. But for a footballer, how can he have died and buried yet his colleague did not come for his burial nor pay tribute to him; you think that was possible? Do you know the real reason why Nigeria was separated to regions and then states even when some people would have love to go with thier kinsmen? The elections are well over, and GMB will soon be sworn-in as our new President come May 29, 2015. I recently created a thread here on the many disguised blessings that lie beneath the loss of GEJ at the last presidential polls. This thread is also about the many blessings. For all intent and purposes, I'm deeply glad GEJ lost.

I'm not oblivious to the fact that detractors will attack this message and myself as someone pandering to the Igbos. Its their call. Its their decision. Its their MB. Its their life. I owe NO apology whatsoever, and no one should expect me to fit their own definition of my life, values and person.

Before 2015 Elections

A few nights ago, I was in the company of my Ijaw folks. As expected, the last elections and the outcome cropped up. People are more politically aware these days. We now discuss more politics than we do wine and women; the latter two have been given some back seat. Its time to look and see into the future. We ended the discussion by agreeing the Igbos stood by our side. Now, some people may accuse the Igbos of doing so purely on some selfish or self-serving motives. That's their business; their alomo bitters!

A whole lot of us grew up with some misinformation and lies against the Igbos. These unfounded and foolish lies created in us some unnecessary suspicion and distrust towards the Igbo people. We were told they are always greedy, narrow-minded and cheats. But my experience with them has proven to be totally false.

My people- great grandparents never understood the vision and courage of late Ojukwu. They never understood his passion. They never understood his person. They never understood him. A lot of Igbos are even yet to fully grasp the vision of the great man; ours can therefore be pardoned. If you don't understand a person's vision, how do you work with them? Can two work together except they be agreed? So asks the Bible. Now, I know better! All those lies have been laid bare. All the misinformation have disappeared as I understood them better. All the talks of the Igbos cornering OUR OIL is plain bullshit, and are lies fed us through our past generations. Now, I know better.

It was due to that lack of understanding of his vision that led late Isaac Boro, a great Ijaw warrior, to side with Nigeria against the Igbos during the Civil War, and thereby strengthened the chains that have now come to bind us. That lack of understanding and subsequent support of the Ijaws against the Igbos that has also contributed to the precarious situation we have now found ourselves in this unholy and untoward contraption. We simply helped and assisted our oppressors. Even Ken Saro-Wiwa caught the vision late; the noose was already around his neck. Too bad. He still remains my hero till my death. Those who braved dangers for a greater and grander purpose are worthy of honour, dignity and utmost respect.

2015 General Elections

I was really ashamed of myself and our grandparents when the Igbos stood by GEJ. I never believed it. I felt we never deserved their goodwill and cooperation. I was particularly elated when the IYC visited Ndigbo weeks before the elections and tried to iron out some issues. Probably, some apologies would have been rendered. Never in my life had I witnessed the isolation that greeted my people during the elections. The propaganda and lying machine of the APC did wonderfully well.

The Igbos stood by us, even when it was so obvious GEJ would lose the elections. They have been maligned and insulted for doing so. They have been needlessly lampooned and denigrated for doing so. They proved we can have in them some BIG BROTHERS. They have proven to be deeply reliable, contrary to what media and the detractors would have us believe. They have been sending these signals to us for decades, but we didn't understand; we didn't see the signals. Now, the chicken is coming home to roost.

The Way Forward

Its not every battle you fight alone. Some battles require alliance. The North and SW just displayed that in the last elections. The SS has NO option than to appeal, through adequate channels, to get closed to the SE. Its has NO alternative. Any solitary agitation will end in futility. History backs my claim. The Igbos will so maligned and disregarded in the past are our only TRUE BROTHERS in the whole contraption. Its time to make amends. Its time to put off the cloak of division and prejudice, and put on the garment of unity, understanding and common vision.

My concerns go well beyond 2015. They even go beyond whatever performance GMB will put forward. I have NO faith in the current structure. Its backward; supports laziness and parasitism.

I'm not a secessionist. I love all Nigerians. I have NO issues with any particular people or tribe. But I love equity and justice more than I love even my own life. I just want a better nation; one founded on the tenets of equity, justice and fairness. And if the current situation doesn't favour these tenets, its time to look at another viable, peaceful, option. I have just one life, and it must be meaningful.

I'm not willing to handover to my kids a system in which they have no hope. I do not hope to bring them into frustration and injustice.

And to all Igbos here, you shall henceforth have my deepest respect and honour for being a BIG BROTHER. And if I have done anything to anyone of you, knowingly and unknowingly, this message is my plea for forgiveness, brotherhood, and peace. You deserve my deepest respect.

Let this message be the blood that is sacrificed for our unity, peace and oneness. God bless you ALL!

I just read ur post and ur name sounds like someone from Bayelsa. Be that as it may, I had my NYSC in Bayelsa where an old man regretted sabotaging the Biafrans because of the propaganda that the ibos will rule over them or the ibos are coming for thier oil. Though he gave me another reason why he was convinced to fight against the igbos during the war. You know, I still regard some people in the Niger Delta as igbos. During the slave trade, some people were lucky not to be sold and were unfortunate not to make it back home cos they could not trace their way back, but I ask where did these set of people settled after the abolishment of slavery etc? In Nembe city, of Bayelsa state, you don't kill a python and if you do, I heard you must follow a tradition for its burial. Some Igbos have same tradition, cos they don't kill python and if it is killed, the necessary tradition must be followed. But I asked, where did they learn this from. The truth is that you have been fair in your explanation. I don't believe in the breakup of Nigeria but if it will make all regions better off so be it. But then Ojukwu believed, the SS and SE could easily understand and manage the affairs better than being in a bigger country.

what the people are doing is not superstition. Its a way of punishing evil doers rather than killing them. Its a kind of banishment that brings public mockery to the individual. there is no justification to any form of human rights abuse or killings. Even if the people are aggrieved over the process of the election, why can't they support the candidate both in cash, kind and even with evidences in court rather than subscribing to taken human lives or destruction of public properties. For 2015, its left for those that contested the election to bring out evidence because I know there are so many anomalies and rigging that went on here in Lagos.

Lagos is building metro lines and Eko Atlantic city which includes a sea port, rivers is also building a rail line, why haven't they completed them? The fact is, he performed. So appreciate it. If all state government have done well like some governors, do you think people will be crowded he one city called Lagos?

That is the difference you get after deducting the total number of votes Jonathan got in SW from that of Buhari in the same region. @Op... the number is truly small, With the way S/Westerns shouted "change" before the election, you would have thought the margin would be in millions. Most northerners have born to rule mentality, they always believe they must be the one in charge and that they can make things happen on their own.

I get your point. Yea the margin btw Jonathan and buhari in the SW, SE, and the north. But then we are almost saying the same thing because even if you deduct the number of people from other regions that voted for APC, you will find out that the people from the southwest(Yorubas) that voted for APC was not much compared to the way they voted for APC in the core north. But then, you will give the credit to the SW because the movement started from Lagos but for what reason, that is the question many people assume answers to.

but he may be right because the votes casted for APC is not just from the yorubas considering the population of other tribes in the southwest. If a sea port is developed and approved in that state, I think it should be the best and beautiful in years to come.

The demand is baseless, but they should still man some positions in NPA . But it baffles me though that it's mostly the northerners that mans NPA and the customs. But then, if the Fed govt appoints anyone to man that port, its because its still a federal property. Has he forgotten that the south-south have been demanding the management of thier resources for long? oil revenue among other resources were used to build the port but would you then say that the money generated from the port was used to develop the oil wells? The last time I checked NPA is not just for Lagos port alone, its for the entire ports in Nigeria. I wonder why people are not calling for the development of other ports. Is this preference giving to Lagos port meant to cage most people here in Lagos just like we are experiencing now in this traffic gridlock? Why is NPA headquarters still in Lagos when there are other ports included in this authority?

First it was during my NYSC years oh! Jesus!!! We were three posted to a village called Idema, Ogbia LGA of Bayelsa state. There are only two routes, the water or a thick forest. The boat do not come all the time because of lack of passengers so since we were expected to get to our PPA for our principal to append his signature, we decided to take a bike for an unknown risky adventure. The route was were pipelines from oloibiri(first oil well) were connected to flow stations in Portharcout. After a 30mins ride, the bike broke down in the middle of a thick forest; no man, no house, no farm land, no water, no food, just thick trees, shrubs and wild noises. Painfully, rather than the bike riding us, we started pushing the bike to where we do not know. Out of pity,I continue helping the bike man who was exhausted,but my colleague who was tired also left us to seek his way forward. I pray non of you experience this. As long as I did not die on that adventure and boat rides, I will never die in any accident. To cut, the story short, we got to the community after the principal came to our rescue. It was a community which was just one way in and one way out. After we agreed to stay and serve, the principal was very happy. But few months into our service year, we got to know that there was a wild, crazy man(beast) from that community living in that forest. The wild man during our service year, raped a farmer's wife from another community and took her to his bush house. This almost resulted to a breakdown of law btw the two communities. But in all, we enjoyed the service because we were giving the best accommodation in a militant's mansion, we were giving food items especially isam(periwinkle) so much cos they don't sell it. We were giving the best of thier ...(fill in the dots) but we no....and they gave us cloths, items and about #20,000 each and wished we do not go.

What stops INEC from owing a machine which could identify finger prints to the true voters since they have a database. Our Representatives should ask question and demand INEC have machines to read ballot papers with finger prints, compare them to the owners and credit them to the right party that won and give us the total figures. I mean look at jamb, can mark script and give results within 24hrs.

no one is scared of any election, even the umpire knows that the process that saw Buhari to be a winner is not credible and fair and if he says otherwise, people from those places will demand otherwise too. But then, what is good for the goose is good for the gender. If it is contested in these two states, maybe the president and other PDP governors who just congratulated in other for peace to reign would demand that the election is completely cancelled and re-conducted even if heaven wants to fall.

Mr. Let it be dawn on you, no matter how many times the election is conducted, PDP will win in Rivers and Akwaibom. Why is Sahara reporters selective? They should beam thier search light on Lagos and the north where more than half of the electorates never used the CR. My question is that why is APC desperate to win some key states like Rivers and Akwaibom in addition to states like Lagos and Kano which they have won. Why are they not desperate for other southeast states, why are they not desperate for ekiti where fayose swept the house of assembly election. They should learn to accept defeat. If all contestant decide to question, search and dig out traces, right from the presidential, this country may not be safe for all of us. Wike, Godswill and fayose are the type of politicians that matches the APC; Goodluck and Sambo are just too soft for them and hence they were been threatened out of the office with their propaganda.
