Please i need someone to help me with a USA broker that allows foreigners to invest in index funds and ETFS.
try Charles schwab. If you are not a nigerian or ghanian (resident/ citizen) you can check out interactive brokers . I am not sure what the minimum requirement for cash account vs margin is now, it used to be about $25k for non-us resident. Except you are interested in day trading and stock options trading ; From experience so far, the cheap route will be to go through Bamboo invest (downside : it's an app, doesn't have desktop UI for individual investor). you get same exposure to etfs , individual US stocks for the most part safe for options trading. Also, you can deposit in naira if you don't have access to domiciliary account. Be mindful of the 30% taxation [Non- US resident] on profit, divy, etc

Disclaimer: only affiliation with the listed brokerage firm is that i am a client.

NNPCL looking like it's coming on the shelf any moment now.
One to spur the market and with dangote refinery already building its stock pile to begin distribution. A very interesting ride to be on from the get-go! I think a price tag of 100 so everyone can buy- not necessarily everyone. grin
would be interested in NNPCL & Dangote refinery [ thinking aloud here; will be interesting to see how Dangote merge the energy, oil and gas , & construction hub of the company for listing purpose. He can't let the construction arm go to waste. else , he defers to Dantata &Sawoe as partnership..] whenever they come on board, will love to get some ..probably bit and pieces acquisition approach during and post euphoria over time.

A Corporate Heist –
In 2023 Oba Otudeko, the new majority shareholder of First Bank PLC and the founder of Honeywell Group, owes Eco Bank PLC 13.5 billion naira in debt. The money was actually given to Honeywell, a fast-moving consumer goods company that he founded, and Oba Otudeko personally guaranteed the loan. The loan was disbursed in 2013, 10 years ago, and the original amount disbursed was 5.5 billion naira. A disagreement ensued between Oba Otudeko and Eco Bank on the interest rate. The matter dragged on until, at a point, the billionaire industrialist said he wouldn’t pay back any kobo again, so Eco Bank should do their worst.
The problem for Eco Bank is that there is no longer a company called Honeywell, which was the collateral in 2013 to liquidate. It does not exist again. Flour Mill of Nigeria bought the company from Oba Otudeko for a sum of 82 billion, so technically, the company does not belong to Oba Otudeko again; it belongs to Flour Mill of Nigeria. Moreso, Oba Otudeko's wealth is not easy to trace; he scattered his wealth using SPVs (special purpose vehicles) and proxies, so you can’t easily trace an asset or money that he owned. eria's oldest bank, First Bank.
copyright: @RealOlaudah
Oba otudeko and debt na 5&6 (Oni gbe se ya ya ya!!). He can only run, last last his schenanigans will catch up with him. He is pretty much investing via proxy for Ecobank. Hopefully, Ecobank's legal team don't fumble the bag going forward. will be interesting to see what % of Flourmill/ Honeywell and FBN gets liqudated to service the loan . T

all in the name of learning i see this as an opportunity to learn from TA /SA/ FA group. This is my proposition:

Brokerage account : to make things easy I nominate @Emmasoft to help with the ground work of setting up account personal or corporate account whatever is needed for interested participants. @Emmasoft Is there a way to set -up an account that can be tracked for one member from each group? can you help interested participant to set-up an account? what will be the requirement FOR SAKE OF TRANSPARENCY ALL INTERESTED MEMBERS , UPDATES MUST BE MADE HERE. NO DM's.
Timeline of this project : Minimum of 10 years. Hopefully we will all be healthy, prosperous and learn clearly along the way how this approach works in NSE.

Catch: Rule of engagement will be communicated here. knowing unscrupulous element may be interested in thwarting the process, there will be lein on your accounts.
a. Firstly, Register your interest, open an account through @ Emmasoft investmentone. I don't know Mr /Mrs. Emmasoft from Adam. i figured he is a part of the community . Hence, he can guide the house on the process.
b. Q1,2,3 and 4 report of holdings and performance only is allowed to avoid derailing this thread.
c. All proceeds from Dividend paying stock must be reinvested to the same security. Dividend in this situation for all candidate is considered capital.

d. Annual Profit : Profit taking for the year will be 30% of capital gain realised
e. Total realised profit at the end of the program will be split 50% profit for participating Technical Analyst / Fundamental Analyst/ Sentimental Analyst 50% profit for me.

Worse case scenario this is an effort in futility. better scenario: This is possibly the beginning of an endowment paying it forward to help upcoming members

Funding: 50k Naira per person to start with when the account is opened, verified here. (This is meagre fund for the multi-millionaire traders and investors amidst us but we start with this) Limitation: 1 person for FA. 1 person TA, 1 person SA. semi-annual or yearly re-allocation will be considered based on discretionary funds available.

Let the Monkey HUNTING, Fundamental / Technical analysis with no paralysis begin... Thanks everyone.

IN memory of all those who lost their lives during pro-democracy struggle, may their soul rest in peace. For us who are alive, let us all strive to do good in our household, local community, places of worship, corporate and civil service. However small of an act it may seem, do it. This surely breeds a great culture in no distant future.

As we strive to make a living and secure a place for our respective household through NSE, remember to help someone / group of people, etc less fortunate than you are in any capacity. May we all be prosperous as we begin the second quarter half!. Long Live Nigeria, Happy Democracy Day everyone !!

Orange One Finance, a sister company of Investment One Stockbrokers will give loans of between 500k to N20 million, interest rate is 24% per annum excluding legal and management fees of 2%.
Interest is straight line and not reducing balance, so it is better to make bullet payment for the liquidation of your debt instead of paying on a monthly or weekly basis.
The money to be paid for gradual payment of the loan is better invested in a Money Market Fund earning interest, and then payoff both the principal and interest when the money is enough.
Most banks will want you to move your investments to their Stockbroking subsidiaries before they can process your " Shares Backed loan" application
definitely agree with str8 line /lump sum approach while using Money market as the parking spot pending repayment. As for banks requirement of transferring collateral to their subsidiary, i thought it was particular to the bank approached thus far. it seem like the standard practice. Thanks a bunch once again.

Question about secured collateral loans ( I am aware this is not a recommendation of any sort, your personal experience or word of mouth is greatly appreciated though. Currently scouting to see what's out there) . The portfolio will and /or mostly consist of the following
a. MTN b. DANG CEM c. OKOMU d. UNITED CAPITAL e. Zenith f. BUA CEMENT g. BUA FOOD h. TOTALenergies
I. Which banks should one be weary of?
II. Do the said banks or financial institution have preference for stocks held in the portfolio.
III. The term of the loan looking at is ~ 180- 365 days at most.
IV. Please feel free to name the banks.
Scouting the market for now. Thanks for your input as always.. Iki PAWPAW oni wo pa wa oh (Credit to *insert nairaland username who always type this*)

Free float is less than 2% and institutional investors are not ready to come on board
As regards BUA CEMENT and contemporaries, Waiting on Institutional investors to jump in as a factor to hedge one's bet for retail investor will amount to waiting for years to come and possibly missed value. This is my biased opinion with BUA stake; cheap is relative and nuanced.. It's similar to a visually impaired artist feeling different body parts of an elephant based on analysis and Time in the market !! Dang cement had similar issues in the past before every Tom,Dick and harry got on it.

Ideally, you treat One man band company like BUA as though you are in the Private equity world (PE)./WIth that you have a nuanced evaluation of the business you are reviewing. Integrity is the paramount fundamental. Any scammy tendency will make me abandon ship. DUE DIligence on every man's part still.!. Keep up the good work EEwumi.!

So if I were to be Fed, just arrange a financial crash that will give no one option to invest in any other instrument except govt bonds for safety of your money.
Oh bros, na gbege be that oh.. Double edge sword!!! thats' Pretty much Paul Volker move.. that might be what unites the political class (G-7,G-20,BRICS) and wall street because they have vested interest in their respective stock market. crash stocks, see them come out of the woods gun blazing with BS tools (Fiscla and monetary)... they can only live on bonds for so long.

With regards credibility, The Fed will always find a way to use a mole in the financial world to "leak" actions. That has been working since Bernanke til date.. Should be interesting times to see how real estate value destruction continues vs pause.

always interesting to see your perspective on such issues. Big ups !!!

As at today they have 3 more banks(highlighted above) that are losing big time. So will Fed intervene or allow it fail?
One arrow to hunt 2 birds. Fed have no choice but to save the un-insured money. They will open up a tab (oversimplification of the approach) to take up all bonds from banks regional and big banks that has lost value due to the retarded rate hikes. IT's a win-win for the feds same as covid-19 play they did with black rock [blackrock holds all the purchased securities by feds and is in charge of amortization, liquidation of such securities ]. Investors are the losers but depositors should be fine. The issue going forward will probably be the amount the FEDs will be willing to save depositors or just save themselves the hassle by slowly back-off the rate hikes. Knowing [Investment] bankers, someone is already gambling on the other side of this trade with depositors funds.. grin grin grin grin grin #FinancialEngineering .

Whoever the incoming administration for the next 4-8 years is, hope the selection of CBN Governor and finance minister amongst other sector is thought through... else, its another 5 years of financial roller-coaster . Emiefiele is a disaster. Good riddance to bad rubbish in 2024. Where we see challenge, we see opportunities ... two possible scenarios in the next 4 years:-
I. Would not be surprised when telecommunication companies start to take up the share of some of this stupid banks in basic functionality. Less stress carrying out banking transaction. All it takes is one success story, then every tom , dick and harry follow suit. Possible M&A on the horizon as well. Money on MTNNG to spear-head this. Big tech Takes up Big and small bank Lunch

II. Stock broking firms [e.g Morgancapital, Meristem, etc ] Partner with Fintech companies e.g paystack, chipper, etc to serve the purpose of investment and domestic /international transaction for their clientele.

III. Trust Nigerians to move en-masse to the next best thing.
