RomanceRe: Wooing (Toasting) a Lady by IAH(f): 9:39pm On Jun 20, 2005
I never said a lady can be bought. But saying that "Flaunting your pocket" is the best procedure to woo a girl is not FALSE either. Please let's be honest here. Ok, let me talk for myself ONLY, as much as I don't plan to be dependent on my man because I plan to make it big too, a rich pocket is one of the ways to my heart! Of course, there are other qualities that I would consider and they are even more important than money, but truly, Money will boost his rating from me. But if I LOVE him and he does not have money, I will still go with him but I'm saying money will boost it.
Now consider two identical guys in character, looks, behaviour and every other thing. The one and only difference is that one is rich and the other is poor. Which one would you gel for? Assuming they are the same in every other wise and please, be honest here.
The mistake we are making here is that the issue of attraction to money does not only apply to females. The guys just don't want to be truthful to us, or why are you attracted to a job with higher pay? or a country with seemingly greener pastures? or a course/degree that is more lucrative? It all boils down to...MONEY. So if after considering other qualities in a man and he also happens to be rich, then that is a big plus and that will definitely enhance his success in wooing me.

But then it is true for most ladies, if you know you are an exception then speak up for yourself too...without being offensive! rolleyes

Not being a virgin doesn't amount to stupidity[/quote]Not being a virgin does not amount to stupidity but allowing ANY man to take advantage of you IS stupid. There is a difference between the two. Read Miriam's post again.

FamilyRe: Managing Your In-laws by IAH(f): 8:08pm On Jun 20, 2005
Seun:
As a single woman, if you are self made and highly placed you may not get married in the first place; that's the funny thing.  Because the young men will be looking at you as a 'Oga'/'Mama' instead of 'babe' and the only men you would be able to respect would be "self-made and highly placed" men who, of course, all got married while you were busy 'making' yourself and struggling to climb the corporate ladder ...
Seun, you know this is not always the case. My husband will never get married to anybody else but ME. And that is it.
My husband can never look at me as Oga/Madam because he is also an Oga himself.

FamilyRe: Managing Your In-laws by IAH(f): 6:15pm On Jun 20, 2005
If, as a woman, you are self-made and highly placed, I don't think you will have any issues with in-laws in Naija. They will even seek your favour. I can't imagine the in-laws of Dr(Mrs) Dora Akunyili or one Minister for women affairs being bullied by her in-laws...no way. They would even use her to boast in public that she is "our wife". That's what I think but there might be exceptions though...in which case that family is full of losers who don't identify with good things.

PoliticsRe: Obasanjo's Library Launch: Do You Support it? by IAH(f): 4:24pm On Jun 20, 2005
The library project in itself is good but that launching shows that even Obasanjo is corrupt despite his anti-corruption campaign. Dangote donated 200million naira shocked Femi Otedola 200million naira shocked Mike Adenuga 250 million naira shocked shocked A consortium of Banks 622 million naira shocked shocked shocked and many other whopping donations like that. Governors donated their states' money to the project. Obasanjo holdings also donated 100 million naira. This launching has been highly criticised by the international community as simply "corruption". All the donors know, for sure, that the money donated would yield fast returns from the President in contracts. That is the corruption cycle. Even Gani Fawehinmi has taken the case to court to challenge the corrupt players.
TV/MoviesRe: 'Who Wants to Be a Millionaire' in Nigeria by IAH(f): 3:50pm On Jun 20, 2005
disallowed:
But, coming to think of it, is a million naira that much (5 million is the show's limit)?  Because that is a paltry 7,500 thousand dollars.  So in the US, when you hear 1 million dollar shows or lotteries, you know they are talking big time.  Because that's 135 million naira!  That, my friend, can last you a life time in Nigeria.
1 million naira is much in Nigeria o...considering the standard of living. But, come to think of it, even 7500USD is not "paltry" to an average American too!

CareerRe: Why This Discrimination Between B.Sc & HND? by IAH(f): 2:56pm On Jun 20, 2005
If I get into a position where I can employ people...say a boss or Human Resources Manager, I don't think I would employ an HND holder except if he has done his postgraduate. The reason is that the standard with which they are admitted into the Polytechnics is too low. I know quite a lot of people with F9 parallel (not that bad, just exaggerating) who got admitted into Polytechnics. I think Polytechnics are for people who could not enter Uni because of their low grades, the people with higher grades in Polytechnics usually take Direct Entry into Uni after their OND. The others continue with the HND. I would say the percentage of really smart students in Polytechnics doing HND must be like 1%, and such students should be asked; "What are you still doing in Poly?" A big apology to whoever feels offended by this post but it is my opinion, isn't it?

Conclusion: Poly is never a first choice for any student or his/her parent. So why do people end up there and FINISH there?

EducationRe: Fate of a Graduate with 3rd Class in Nigeria by IAH(f): 2:32pm On Jun 20, 2005
Like everybody has said, go for your Postgrad. and be determined and focused to make it. Pls identify whatever caused you to make a 3rd class in your first degree and do everything to avoid it this time. Don't look back at the mistakes you might have made but look forward onto what you can achieve if you work harder.  As an electrical engineer, the sky is your limit (That is one of the best courses to study in our world today!) and then engineering is more of your skills than your grade, so you can even be better than someone with a second class upper division in terms of practical skills.
You can achieve what you want to achieve and I pray the Lord will grant you success in life's endeavours.
Peace.
FoodRe: Your Favourite Nigerian Dishes? by IAH(op): 2:22pm On Jun 20, 2005
It is interesting that only females are telling us their fav. foods. Guys don't eat? Ok, anything goes for them. They don't really have a favourite. "Chop anything".
FoodYour Favourite Nigerian Dishes? by IAH(op): 3:23pm On Jun 18, 2005
Guys and girls, what is/are your favourite Nigerian food(s)? And what food(s) do you dislike?

I like Rice and stew with dodo, Pounded yam and Vegetable soup, anything made with plantain e.g. chips, boli(and epa), boiled plantain, dodo. Then, I like pepper soup, Ekuru(you can't know it because you are all ajebutters) and Pottage or is it Porridge? In short, I mean Asaro. grin
I also think I can finish a trailer-load of FAN yoghurt. grin I really miss it.

I don't like beans at all, and fish.

I want to open a factory so the power sector is improtant. I'm not going to invest if I have to create the basics myself. besides, lack of electricity shows the government isnt serious. when they do thier part, I'll do mine
So you are saying that without stable power supply, you won't open your factory? Then you won't open it in the next 50 years if you are waiting for your government.
What of factories in Nigeria right now that are coping despite the erratic power supply?
