Hello Great people of Nairaland,

I have a complain concerning my Irish visa appeal which I submitted on the 27th of March(pre-covid) restrictions/lockdown and I never got a reply from the embassy so I exercised patience till after aug 4, then when I wrote to the embassy concerning my appeal and their reply was that “my application was received in June in chronological order”. They concluded by saying if an additional documentation is needed they’ll contact me via my email, up till this moment, I’ve not heard from the embassy concerning my appeal;
* What could basically be the issue here?
*Why is it taking so long?
* my school resumes second week of oct, is there any possibility of meeting up?

More Importantly; while I was sending my appeal in March I didn’t pay for the courier service to return to my address(due to financial difficulties as at that time) Can I pick it up from the embassy when it’s ready?
I’ll appreciate answers for my questions,

If your visa is approved, you will be notified . oftentimes, it will be via phone call. Keep sending them emails, they possibly may have tried reaching you on phone to no avail.

I just recieved a refusal letter for my study visa application yesterday in which the reasons for refusal and required documentation were clearly stated. I am currently working on the appeal.

However I am not sure if to include other documnents that have been submitted prior that do not have any issues
such as my WAEC certificate, school transcripts etc. when sending the documents back to Abuja.

Yes you have to submit the whole documents again alongside additional documents that may be required to support your claims.

I got admission in Griffith college and the fees was 12.5k euros. My elder brother was like he can't afford it. That except Griffith would accept half of the payment and later he will complete it. Even one of his friend that is in USA told him not to pay that in USA he can find sch of six thousand to 8 thousand dollars and he also said I should look of sch of 8 thousand dollars in Canada. The problem is that USA and Canada visa is harder than Ireland visa. Pls is there any cheap sch in Ireland I can apply that is around 8k euros that one would be easy for me to persuade him to pay

You probably have to discuss with your brother on the level of help or assistance he intends providing to you. Kindly note that after Tuition, you still have to present funds for Visa application, funds for living expenses until you can secure a part time job etc .

I'll suggest you opt for the UK to avoid stories that touch especially when you get to the visa application stage.

It's not true. Everyone knows Ireland only issues 3 to 6 months Visa to students. You only need 1 way ticket

Getting a work permit sponsorship will depend mostly on your skillsets and preferably you also have an IT background before MBA Information systems. If you are good both academically in IT / Business and you have the required skillset expected of a Business Analyst, then MIS ain't bad. Or rather opt for Business Analytics in lieu of MBA - MIS

Please how do I prove relationship to a sponsor that is a distant relative? I've been anxious thinking about this because even if we both produce our birth certificates it won't give any indication of how we are related.

I'm wondering if a letter from both of us and some pictures showing that we are familiar enough with one another can suffice? Please I would welcome input from anyone who has been in this position or knows how to navigate this. Thanks!

Hi Folks,
i have been having sleepless nite cuz of my passport..... my passport will expire on 24th of Oct which is more than one month from today but the embassy told me to get another passport which i went to immigration office to apply.......after paying and doing the capturing they told me they wont give me the new passport until someday b4 that occt 24th. Now they are asking me to bring back the old passport so they can cancel it and issue me the new one but i already sent the old passport to the embassy with the collection printout as proof that i have paid for another one.

shey the embassy can still issue visa on it like that?

What I advsied a previous student in such case was to send an email request to the embassy asking for the passport to be couriered back to you and then send both old and new back to the embassy. This will be best if your university is happy to have you come in anytime from 15th October onwards or if they are happy to have you join the program anytime your visa is issued. Also include such email confirmation from the school on updated date of resumption in the passports or email .

For Medicine, he/she needs to go through a foundation at DIFC.

For software Eng, some Institute of technology can accept him/her directly into 1st year.

We work with both colleges and Unis in Ireland

I've been a silent followed of this thread I have read from the first page to this page and I must say it's really informative.
Special thanks to iCASng for creating this thread and thanks to Dwebb55 and others that have been contributing.

I observed that this thread lacks pictures of those who are already in Ireland. At least, make una dey generous with pictures nah.

Also, the thread seems to focus more on getting study visas and not staying back (permanent residency).

Aside these, it's a beautiful thread.

Students are entitled to 2 years automatic work permit similar to the one UK will start implementing next April and people can also apply directly for work permit if your occupation is on the priority list .

Icasng, Is the timeline for Study visa and Employent visa different. If that's true, which one should take longer.

I think urgency in treating the application will be dependent on how vital your role is to the govt and your Employer. Can't really say how long each could take; whilst some study permit took 8 weeks, some got theirs in 3 weeks.

Stay put , stay positive and hopeful- don't forget the power of prayer too sha

2 weeks to 8 weeks. Let your school be aware you may arrive late if appealing and if they are willing to have you. Schools like WIT won't allow or permit students who arrive after 20th september

It should be addressed and couriered to the Irish Embassy in Abuja. I can't determine if it will however be treated in Abuja or in Dublin

Due to covid and a need to restrict your movement for 14 days in Ireland upon arrival, its suggested to have a accommodation reservation included. However, if it wasn't included i won't worry too much unless the Embassy requests for 1.

You should however have a confirmed one at the point of Entry when arriving in Ireland

One key question is how did she become an irish citizen?

To reduce complications, let her sponsor him to the UK. He can get visa to visit Ireland and hopefully may land a job there later.

Ireland is headache if they are not prepared to be open about everything, I mean lots of paperwork then my candid advice is to consider the UK

As much as some think they are experts , please carry out personal research.

Undergraduate honors in the UK is 3 years excluding foundation .

For IReland its 4 years . Ordinary BSc is 3 years. You cant proceed to a masters program in Ireland if you obtain an ordinary bsc as compared to BSc honors.

Its important to say some colleges have 3 years BSc honors but kindly be sure of what you're applying for and what is expected of you please.

Someone who does not need to apply from Nigeria may get away with some things as compared to ordinary Nigerians who have to go through the visa application stage. E.g American citizens dont need to apply for visa to study in Ireland likewise few African countries e.g SA

For anyone coming to Ireland for Undergraduate courses age doesn't matter

Course expenses – The course charge for postgraduate programmes for 2021 is at least 12,500Euro, you are required to pay in full before visa application. Every international student gets a 1000Euro discount once they accept their offer and have paid an acceptance fee of 500Euro within 30days of receiving the offer.

Length of the course – Undergraduate programme run for 3years while Postgraduate courses and Higher Diploma are for one year respectively.

Visa Application – help with Visa application process at no processing cost. Also note that the visa procedure takes 2months in the wake of submitting all documents so we encourage all applicant to submit their visa documents for vetting 3months to the start of the course.

I will advise that you have a discussion with your counsellor about the visa process before making any payment to the school to avoid unnecessary visa rejection.

Accommodation – DBS have no accommodation yet but would connect you to a few accommodation providers within our reach. However, living expenses in Ireland is evaluated to be between 8,000 – 10,000Euros for one year.

Post Study Work Permit – Every international student is entitled to 20hours work permit every week during term time and a two years post study work permit after the completion of your postgraduate degree and a year post study work permit after Higher Diploma and Undergraduate programmes.

Undergraduate visa requirement – You are expected to make full tuition payment before visa application and also have access to over 20million Naira (this should be in sponsor’s account) by the time of application. This is to establish that you have access to your tuition and living expenses for the duration of your programme.

I made a third class, what is expected of me ? if you fall within this category, you are encouraged to apply for a top up or a higher Diploma course which an equivalent of a premasters, these programmes runs for one year respectively .This will cost 9,850Euros.

I have HND, what is applicable to me? For HND, you just have the top up alternative as no school in Ireland would acknowledge HND for PGD or bosses. The tuition cost for this 9,850Euros.

Language prerequisites for this course – DBS require an International English Language Certificate (Academic test only) regardless of where you had your first degree. We do not accept English Proficiency letter as these test result are supporting documents for visa ap[plication. The following are the test result recognised by the school as well as the embassy

Age matters for undergraduate program especially if the person is older than 23 and has a gap of at least 2 years without any tangible qualifications and work experience.

As much as we are trying to assist probably based on your experience studying in Ireland, some of us do get trained or updated by the Irish Embassy at least twice a year and to the best of my knowledge there is an age limit on undergraduate admissions. You cant be 30 years with just WAEC that was obtained 10 years ago and say you want to start from year 1.

Things that applied to your professor years ago aren't applicable at the moment.

Its not clear what yours or your sponsors circumstances are when you submitted and docs submitted.

For appeals, you have to be very detailed when addressing things

The preferred age for undergraduate degree into year 1 is below 22 years. Full tuition fee must be paid for the first year. Average tuition for UG is 10000 euros per year.
I'll advise you complete a 2 year diploma in Nigeria before trying to further your studies abroad unless you just passed WAEC last year then probability of getting a visa to start a undergraduate program without a prior diploma at 25 years is very slim especially for Ireland

If he's able to get at least 1 solid year transcript and if he's able to join 2nd or 3rd year of undergrad in Ireland then Griffith, ITSligo, ITTralee , DKIT, GMIT and WIT may be able to take him but know that amongst other reasons to convince the visa officer he will need to comprehensively explain why he does not want to finish his program in Nigeria.

UG programs cost between 8500 and 11,000 and some come with free accommodation for the duration of his undergrad program. But kindly bear in mind that he should not intend starting from year 1 ; Age is against him.

They intend implementing the 2 years automatic post study work permit as from 2021.

Depending on the University you need minimum of 2.2 in bachelors degree.

If you have any docs omitted when you submitted at the vfs, you should scan and send to Abuja embassy and copy Dublin embassy . Unless the Embassy replies that you should courier it to them , i won't advise you do such..
