@IFY

How are you finding the books you are reading , behind the veil and the other one , i hope it is an interesting read.

Let us know the final names u give them but in the mean time i will call you Umm AR2. I guess you know what it means wink
Im currently enjoying the "ideal Muslimah" and i love this excerpts so much:

The Prophet (PBUH) also referred to this responsibility in his hadith: “Each of you is a shepherd and each of you is responsible for his flock. The leader is a shepherd and is responsible for his flock; a man is the shepherd of his family and is responsible for his flock; a woman is the shepherd in the house of her husband and is responsible for her flock; a servant is the shepherd of his master’s wealth and is responsible for it. Each of you is a shepherd and is responsible for his flock.”
. . . Abt the names, wahala owa oh,we are yet to decide, grannie is even suggesting Jawal and Jamal.
I love the latter one,for obvious reasons wink

I think the correct spelling is 'Ohnuhnu'. It's a term used to refer to non-Ngwa Igbos. It could also refer to all non-Igbos and things.

Romeo4real:
Whilst the poster of this thread specified it's only for ladies, i feel the need to make a slight comment.
I bet the 2 posters above me are not married. - And if they are, they are definitely not with children, and if they are, then the marriage has other serious issues apart from the infidelity.

What i am trying to say is that infidelity is/should NOT necessarily the end of any marriage. It simply is not a black & white issue - only unmarried people think otherwise. Before such a conclusion is reached, a whole lot of things should be taken into consideration - Was the marriage good before the infidelity? Is he a good husband AND father? Is it the first time? Are there children in the union? Are you innocent yourself?

As i said, i am not addressing the questions raised in the thread - as im not a woman, just making a slight comment.
I agree with u.
E no go easy to walk out of my marriage after all the ups and downs we have been through.
@Topic,Dont know.Situations like this,u never can tell what your reaction wud be till it hits u,any other thing u say b4 then might be stories .
I was raised in Louisiana by my grandmother in a little town called Grambling, I met my mom for the first time when I was 17 and Every time i ask

her about my father she refuses to tell me. My Dad I found out is from Igbo land and since I was 25 I have been looking for my family in Nigeria,

I know he is from Owerri, and I found out recently my name is Ngozi which happens to be igbo,  Please is there anyone out there who can lead me

on the right path to a long search to find my biological father and family?

Thank you for your time and may god continue to bless each and everyone of you,
Do u know for sure that he is from Owerri or better still,how/who told u your dad is from Owerri?
If you are sure hes from Owerri and his last name is Iwunnah then you stand a 70% chance of meeting him.
Where did your mum meet your dad?what was he doing then? u dont have to answer that here
If u have the above infor and get to Owerri, ask for the kings Place and state your case b4 him.
Having a pic of him wud help.Be careful of the infor u spill on net whilist searching,[s]someone might use them and try to impersonate your dad[/s]  undecided
BTWN,u really dont have to travel down yet, there in Loiusiana,i believe u wud get an Igbo meeting/group/Families,see if telling them first wud help.We igbos always have ways of linking up esp when abroad.

I have heard they are not happy that land is no longer available for them in onicha.I may be wrong though.

Udezue to be honest you are begining to sound like Ezeuche.
I don't think its true.
Assuming its true, they can be "unhappy" abt anything they choose to BUT as long as they are not disturbing other Igbos staying there, finito.
Not on single day have biz in main mkt being disrupted or closed cos Onichan's are unhappy, same goes for Relief,Nkpor spare parts etc and u wud hardly find a stall belonging to an Indigene.Awada,Nkpor, downtown Onitsha have been literally bought over by non-indigenes and they are living peacefully.Infact, every time theres a problem in Onitsha, trust me,its fuelled by non-indigenes.
what u heard is TOTALLY lies.

Believe me that's what i wanted to do initially. But my Dad hugs the TV and we don't usually have light everyday. That's why I got the internet thinking I could keep up with my shows but the internet here is so slow it's painful. And I'm using the fastest connection in Abuja according to popular opinion.
Get another TV for urself and if possible, get a small Generator too.

Please a million things could happen to you.You can also make friends(people that have been staying in 9ja) so you can go out in groups, its a lil'bit safer .

Me too, especially with the aged and titled men.
Andre Uweh:
I earlier wrote that women with titles break kola nuts in some parts of Delta Igbo region. Reread my post. Thanks for your info on Onitsha.
Ndigbo feel it is more hygienic to break kola nuts with knife. Secondly, some peoples hands are soiled with blood and Ndigbo do not want that. There are more reasons which I may not list here.
Thanks.I guess most of us have been overlooking the hygiene aspect.

Dereformer:
Marriage in Igboland where i come from is Hell for the man. except if u are rich or your family is rich.

A man in igboland is expected to have a house b/4 getting married.

You should be able meet at least 80% of the outrageous list that will be handed to u.

The situation is really bad. Our parents are not helping matters. This is why it is common to see ladies 35yrs & above not married b/c of high priced tag on them.
Oga are u talking abt ur village or the whole Igboland?
Last i checked,Okada men, cobblers and even roadside tailors that are Igbosdo marry.
Which part of Igboland are u from undecided
Culture › Re: Kola Nut Ritual In Igboland by ifyalways(f): 10:38am On Oct 05, 2010
Andre Uweh:
@Chyz: thanks for posting that video. One remarkable feature of this video is the role of woman/women in kolanut and Igbo culture. In Igbo culture, women are forbidden from either planting, climbing, plucking or breaking the kola nut. It is just a question of mentality similar to the biblical regard for women.
Women do break the Igbo kola when they gather in their usual cultural groupings of Umuada or in the council of women.
The whole Igbo land or some parts huh
I know for sure that women with Odu title in Onitsha Break kolanut.
abadaba:
In some parts of Delta Igbo, e.g Isselu Ukwu and Ubulu Ukwu, women with the traditional title of OMU can participate in breaking of kola nut. But if there is a man with a title in the midst, it is the man who does the kola nut ritual.
Andre Uweh:
Igbo people usually break kola nut with a knife due to some reasons.
Please can u tell us some of the reasons.

It has to be your decision and it will not be easy.

Base your decision on both your past, your present and your expectations of the future.
