Hahah. gotcha!
ok so why dont u want a trip down memory lane?
when we were young there was this family that never travelled home. each christmas when we stuff our cars with yams and goats for the village they always remain back.
when you ask they say tufiakwa! they cannot return to their home states because they are fettish, that juju will kill them etc etc. they really painted this terrible picture of their towns men.

when we eventually got to go to their village they had no house! hence the excuse that they have witches from the village after them. they did not have a place to sleep. no family house.

siena huunnnnn, I suspect you may have personal reasons and i will not press you for that.
ok Im begging. give us a chance. okay? just 2 weeks holiday and i promise to change your perception of Nigeria forever.

u should be around 39- 42 years am I correct? were you born in November, July? you are fair average height and a bit plump? you wear glasses? you like cars? just trying out my new hobby on you.
TravelRe: What The Heel Are U Guys Doing Oversea by igbogolo: 10:19am On Oct 06, 2008
@ siena!
you have not been here in the last 18years. dont you think some things might have changed?
I will be in the UK in december. i will bring along the sweetest pineapples, mangoes, bananas etc. sweet fruits from your fatherland to douse your apprehension.

there is abundance of milk and honey here. maybe you should just relax and take a trip to lagos. i will host you and i promise your stay will be very memorable.

from lagos we shall go to calabar. I will treat your taste buds to the most delicious edikain kong soup. you will rekindle the distinct taste of bushmeat and roasted wild antelope and palmwine.

from there off we go to obudu. you will have a look of nature in its pristine form from the cable cars. you will drink fresh free coconut milk. unadultrated.

then off we go to abuja via nsukka. we shal visit the nite clubs and meet the saavy and sporty women before I put you in arik airs new airbus A340-600 for a memorable flight back to UK

TravelRe: Lagos Airport Terminal 1building Will Beat Miami’s by igbogolo: 9:49am On Oct 06, 2008
The local airport isnt that top quality. Right now the ceiling tiles are collapsing. I hate the paint in the arrival hall walls. split airconditioners are annoyingly visible and noisy.Whose idea was it anyway? An airport that lacks a dedicated elevator for disabled persons isnt world class. There is no attention to acoustics in the arrival hall. The interlocking tiles outside are not even making your ride to the airport bumpy and uncomfortable. no palatable shopping malls. no medical hall for emmergencies.

The high point is the parking slot although I feel the climbing gradient is too steep. others they say is history.

TravelRe: White Supremacy, A True Concept Or Just In The Head! by igbogolo: 1:11pm On Oct 04, 2008
my dear, not on individual basics.
I mean collectively. Like I said, there are real daft whites . If we are better than them, why are we still on the floor? Let's be real and leave sentiments. Look at America and look at Africa. Scientists Michigan are building nano robots that can perform surgeries. Here we call witch doctors. We are so backward. Yes there are some blacks that has made us proud but let's measure the proportion.
TravelRe: White Supremacy, A True Concept Or Just In The Head! by igbogolo: 10:31am On Oct 04, 2008
and yes I have met some silly whites. But that statistics pales into insignificance when we consider the larger picture
TravelRe: White Supremacy, A True Concept Or Just In The Head! by igbogolo: 10:28am On Oct 04, 2008
yes! The whites are superior. If blacks were superior where is the evidence to support it? Sentiments apart until we are able to build our own aeroplanes, automobiles, artilleries, politics, etc can we begin to entertain the thought that blacks are better.

TravelRe: Soweto by igbogolo: 10:00am On Oct 03, 2008
@ iykeman . thanks.

I was almost settling down to enjoying the soweto post yesterday before RSA went bust.
RSA rained invectives on nigerians over a comment by a non nigerian. Its so embarrasing.
The other day a black man was fed to the lions in south africa. That incident reverbrated in nigeria. my entire family revulsed at the news and are still seething in rage about it till today. we hear all sorts of things including where a white man urinated in a plate and forced black labourers working with him to drink. to think that such crimes are still happening in a supposedly post apartheid South Africa and in this time and age is worrying. The annoying thing is that we Nigerians feel much as pained as the victims of these racist crimes in south africa. these are crimes that cannot happen in nigeria and we all wonder if south africa is still free?

RSA comments about nigerians isnt endeared to him alone. he just voiced the general perception most south africans have about nigerians. thats the truth. wole soyinka was detained and harassed in south africa last two years. that he is a nigerian icon did not matter to overzealous south african immigration officers who will not miss any opportunity to harass nigerians coming into south africa.

I was in SA in october 2007. its a beautiful country no doubt. the streets are clean especially in cape town. I enjoyed the shopping malls. but right from the airport, we were whisked into a waiting taxi. our hosts did not allow us breathe the evening air. we changed hotels 4 times. by the second week I was tired of running from immaginary robbers. every noise will wake me at night. I held my passport as if my life depended on it. we never left our hotel rooms unattended to even during roomkeeping. we had to follow the room keeper everywhere she went. I did not sleep, I could not take a walk, I could not do anything. i was either hearded into a car, a mall, a hotel room or am alwways turning and running, afraid some dark thief was after my life.

By the 11th day I was sick. sick of running and being cautious. My heightened security conciousness sapped me of energy and vitality. when the bellview aircraft touched down in Lagos, I kissed the nigerian soil. we might not be where we are today but there can be no where else like home!I slept without light that night but my windows and doors were open. I had drinks with my friends till about 11pm and drove home without a care in the world.

January 2009, I met three southafricans in weifang. one white two black. the white had an air. very confident and nice but the other two black southafricans were quiet withdrawn. they did not socialize and they avoided us( we were the only nigerians there). they were always alone even during dinner.but the white guy was about the place, representing south africa MORE than the two black men. and when he delivered the closing speech every one clapped. its so obvoius. he was more south african than the blacks who kept scurrying in the background. I was furious! angered by the fact that the blacks did not represent their country well before people from all over the world.

i can say without any equivocation that Nigerians feel for south africans. but its so annoying when we get the spit in the face. thats why i was amongst the ones that championed we relieve ourselves of the burden of being our brothers keepers. let the people of kenya, south africa, zimbabwe, serrie leone, liberia sort out their problems themselves. maybe until they do, they will begin to appreciate the efforts we put into making their countries a better place and learn to respect others.

RSA you may want to start another soweto post. This one has already been poisoned.
Have a good day!

@ morpheus

there  is no way that south africans can come out tomorrow to wash their hands and cry to the high heavens that Nigeria did not stand up for them!!!! We did and did with our blood and sweat! no jupiter can erase that. get it into your head.
You do not recognise who a foreigner is? in the light of the misplaced prejusice against Nigerians,of which RSA has displayed, better imbibe that word for your own safety. you are on your own if you do ''african brother and sisters in south africa. those people do not know who their brothers are otherwise the xenophobic attacks would not have happened.
RSA was  doing ok with his SOWETO post until he completely veered off at a tangent and displaced his innermost hatred for nigerians with his ugly and distasteful comments. i will not spare him.
You are the one bringing the ''i did this for you so u owe me syndrome'' here. there is no where on my post that I insinuated that. south africans must learn to respect other people including nigerians doing legitimate businesses in south africa!.
the xenophobic attacks on other nationals in south africa brings to the fore the inborn hatred these people have for others. meanwhile other nationals receive and accommodate south africans in their own countries.
and who is invading south africa? they are the ones invading us with dropped calls, terrible telephone service,  per minute billing on MTN and MULTICHOICE and their banks.
RSA will NOT acknowledge other Nigerians that are doing legitimate businesses in south africa, paying tax and employing the uneducated black southafricans yet he will have the bile to come to a nigerian website to insult nigerians.
TravelRe: Soweto by igbogolo: 2:43pm On Oct 02, 2008
MORPHEUS 24
People like you help foreigners to insult nigerians. Some little brat here said that nothing good can come out of Nigeria, calling us hippies and losers.
if nothing good can come out of Nigeria, what about the sacrifices we made for south africa back then?
do you think that you can live in the present without the ''past''? do you think relations are formed from nothing??
you are bold. very bold. you can hide under the protection of the internet to rant nonsense.
TravelRe: Soweto by igbogolo: 12:46pm On Oct 02, 2008
Dear RSA,
I really do not wish to be drawn into this vacuous debate about south africa and Nigeria. I think you are pretty young, so I would like to educate you about your past.

My grand mother is 84 years old. She was amongst the thousand nigerian mothers that sacrificed their blouses and wrappers so that naked south african women and men stripped by apartheid regime in south africa had something to cover their unclothedness.
In your bile RSA, do not forget the historic role that Nigeria played( including providing assylum and food and education for SA activists and residents) who were about to be crushed by the south african regime at that time. Without Nigeria, south africa blacks would have had to endure the bitter taste of white colonialism a bit longer. I will paste Bothas speech on this forum later for your sober reflection.
The same Nigeria has allowed your empire to grow and nurture here without hinderance. Yes am talking about MTN and Multichoice all in her bold show of brotherliness.
Dear RSA, I so badly want to tell you to shove your puerile ranting into your ass. South africa blacks are an embarrassment. you blacks of no identity and culture need JESUS.
You dangerous and uneducated blacks of south africa are the most violent, insecure, HIV infested animals on earth. Do you think clean streets and electricity is all that makes SA better?
Do not worry about the nigerian statistics all over the world. we are an enterprising people that will shake the world when we awake.
TravelRe: Happy Nigeria Independence -48 Years, What Are You Hopes For Our Country by igbogolo: 10:51am On Oct 02, 2008
@ all
morning everyone!
As we reflect on the future of our country, lets not forget that the developed countries paid a price for their independence and freedom. In most cases, this price was paid with blood.
we cannot sit and think that the greedy politicians we have masquerading as politicians will let go of the largesse they enjoy from power without a fight. to make our country great again, we all have to recognise that nothing good comes easy and must therefore be prepared to pay the price when the time comes.

Thank you and have a great day everyone!

TravelRe: The New E-passport Is A Shame To Nigeria by igbogolo: 6:56pm On Sep 29, 2008
@ kadman
iceland went to festac office for her passport. Fact.
iceland claims her passport wasnt clear. fact
Iceland wanted to confirm if it was just hers so she enquired from others who came that same day for their passport.Fact.
Iceland concluded that the new passport in its entirety is bad hence 'shame to Nigeria' Fact.
my questions>
1, how do we define clarity.is it based on icelands observation alone? how then do we ascertain the measure of clarity of icelands passport? None!how do we benchmark it?
2. is there any evidence that passports issued the days before and days after at the festac office are bad? None.
3. Nigeria has thousands of passport offices nationwide and world wide. is there any evidence to suggest that the entire passport office of Nigeria is deficient? none!
so in the face of lack of concrete evidence, how then can iceland make such a proclamation that nigeria needs to be shamed?
its obvious she has a problem with the FESTAC office. someone somewhere is not doing his job so its the festac office not Nigeria should take the blame.
kadman, do not waste your time teaching me about realism and patrotism. Learn to work with what you are given.

I mentioned earlier that your visa plays an important role which u have also confirmed. the picture in your visa is almost all that most immigration officers need to confirm your authenticity. so what are u still talking about?

please do not compare Nigeria the US. lets compare like things. americans bash their president and country about serious national issues not about 1or 2 or 3 unclear passport booklets!

@ brownmiwo.
A passport is not a representation of the nation nigeria! where did u get that from? a passport is merely a travel document issued when you are moving out of the country. so if your passport is bad, then the country is bad? please stop! now u are scaring me with this wayward reasoning!
TravelRe: The New E-passport Is A Shame To Nigeria by igbogolo: 4:59pm On Sep 27, 2008
@ kadman
If someone comes out to the world wide web to call nigerians liars simply because a nigerian lied to him/her, will you like it?
iceland said that her unclear passport is ''a shame to Nigeria'' simply because her passport isnt clear. Her generalized statement is not correct because there are thousands(my self included) that have clear passport and I feel that coming to the world wide web to bash Nigeria( of which I am a citizen) is unbecoming. do you get thathuhhuh
right now we are punished for the activities of few people. pls do not sit there and tell me that you are not affected by the misadventures of a few nigerians. for instance no nigerian goes to tanzania. they have all but banned nigerians from their country and the few that go there with legitimate papers and everything are harassed.
when someone reads icelands comments pasted carelessly on the internet, they will definetely reinforce what ever negative impression they have of us and you will definetely suffer some sort of injustice here or there as a result of the perceived impression. thats where the heritage comes in and for your information, I am a very proud Nigerian.

you definetely need some tutoring. i am amased at your heterogeneous comments which goes to a great depth to punctuate your rather asinine reasoning. please ponder, if for a few minutes, before commenting.

Thank you and yes its possible that the passport office isnt aware of the poor quality of the photographs. Since iceland mentioned shadow in her picture, its also possible that the lighting(maybe of the room) or that of the camera wasnt adjusted properly.
And yes, its very difficult to get a resonable complaint adressed in the typical nigerian passport office but you never can tell you know. she actually might have gotten her issue sorted out if she did complain.
If you run your own business and you are concerned about your client base, customers, name and untimately money, you will ensure that you give your customers the best quality care. I suspect thats whats obtainable in your own case. We all know that government officials get a bit lax with their duties especially as they have nothing to lose. their salaries will always come in by month end.
All my friends that have renewed their passports have good stories to tell. Im just a bit taken back by Icelands comments.

@ Plum
thank you. I also have the new passport. I can say that a lot of thought went into the design. Its so picturesque with our national icons embedded in every page. its warm, friendly and its a delight to behold.
In the old passport the biopage is laminated but in the new one the biopage is embedded in the hard cover with superior imaging format. Mine is clear, my signature is of the right proportion and the booklet is of better quality.
@Iceland.
probably the machine used in festac needs some adjustment. Did u complain about to the passport office that your picture was not clear. Im sure its an anomaly that will be sorted out with time but I still maintain that your unclear passport does not in any way warrant 'shaming' Nigeria in your rather sensational manner.
My old passport will expire in 2010. My picture there does not in any way bear any resemblance to me ( I have changed considerably in facial apperance over the years) but I have never been harassed about it.

@ kadman
when someone calls you a king or queen( depending on your sex),It simlly conveys respect, dignity and clout. I merely wanted to express our proud heritage as Nigerians irrespective of a mere passport booklet. I expect everyone, even of little intelligence, to grasp that without muddling common sense.
That your signature is diminished wont really present a challenge in your 'transactions'.

Ur topic does not rhyme with your experience. The new passport is not a shame to nigeria simply because your picture was not clear. Your biodetails are also stored electronically together with other security features and that makes the new passport much better than your old nigerian passport with 'clearer' picture.

The main issue will be your visa. Immigration officers really do not bother so much with your passport. Thery are only interested in knowing if you have the right visa to their country and thats where all their attention normally goes.

Raise your head Iceland. You are a proud citizen of Nigeria and a Queen! Clear passport or not!

wow! I have never been subjected to such nonsense at the airports here and aborad. maybe cos I dont carry much when im travelling or maybe cos I have been lucky all this while. I always look directly at the immigration officers and answer their questions without shifting my gaze. Its a very intimidating posture that helps me to wade off undue agression at foreigh airports.
but the one that pisses me off is when the immigration officer brings out his binoculars to scoff at my passport. I really hate that.
@ big bumper.
u really need to relax oo. Im aware that these officers can make life miserable for you if they are determined to teach you a lesson. A friends nephew was detained for abusing an officer in moscow and he did not have a pleasant experience.

Not canada .com presents a radically different version of canada which I think prople should access before taking off.
Every stride we take in life is just for the bottom line- economics. Im indeed glad that you mentioned that ''going abroad is not the best option''.

The best bet is to remain focused. its always good for one to hold tenaciously to his dreams before going out to ''hussle'' otherwise such collosial waste of funds(tickets and co) would amount to nothing in the long run.
