Many christians are not poverty stricken and miserable in 9ja because they are christians... The country we live in is just pathetic... a country where d political class steals everything ,u expect persons to be sane?? Christians,muslims,atheists(that's if they are not hiding inside there shells in 9ja),traditional worshipers all suffer from d hands of d country called nigeria... Christianity is not d issue mr poster.. While christianity fosters a balanced view of life free from materialism,it doesn't encourage poverty.... It encourages contentment.... So todays christianity has decided to discard 1 aspect of speaking in tongues(speaking in known earthly tongues) and chose to keep praying in unknown tongues? Is that not so? Because that is what you goshen is saying.. My point is even on d fact that it has ceased.... I would have loved to see d apostles speak in the real tongues back then in d 1st century,but not todays type... 1 corinthians 13 never told us that it would cease partially,it said all will cease... Wether u want to classify them or not those abilities aren't needed anymore...theyr Gone.. You Àgreed that mayb the main aspect of it has been done away with(d preaching with various tongues),but u still cling to d fact that praying in unknown tongues has not ceased... That's not biblical.....paul said every every will cease... The early patriachs of old didn't need to speak Ór pray in tongues... Even Jesus who had d holy §pirit swimming in his system never needed to,I mentioned that earlier..... Wa§ it that those servants of God were less spiritual or had less holy spirit because they never prayed in unknown tongues People have always prayed to God with there native tongue... Why the introduction of speakin in tongues?? The ability or d gift of tongues was giving for a reason to a fledgling congregation and that reason was long established and so it has been done away with... Simple!!! Evidence ??The rubbish people speak today.. Its .all acting,they are forcing it... And I could remember some1 saying even satan can make many persons spit out utterances... Even d demons can speak in various tongues... We gotta be Çareful.. From the bible .we should know what will stand in these last days..... @goshen....my bro they have all ceased... Wether praying or speaking....all gifts of speaking in tongues have ceased...they'v been done away with.. Paul never distinguished tongues when he wrote those verses,I wonder where ur geting ur analogy from... U guys have run away from d main reason why tongues we're giving as a gift and focusing on ur own presumpteous steps... I can't believe u guys are now differentiating tongues..... @joe...so when people pray in tongues that's when we hear those in-cohorent words ba?? But when speaking in tongues takes place it has to be a known language that might need an interpretation in case some persons don't understand d language been spoken?? Is that what u guys are saying So in a congregation everybody can pray in tongues is that what u mean my brother?? To what end?? To benefit who Please read this part of 1 corinthians 14:22... Tongues are for a sign to unbelievers.... That ability to speak in various tongues was given to early christians for d sole purpose of spreading d kingdom news to many who needed to hear it in there own native dialect or language... Even @ that in 1 corinthians 13:8-13 paul tells us that those powers will cease when they must have accomplished its purpose... And ceased it did!!! D early fledgling church needed these power to speak in tongues so as to spread d message as far as they could to the most distant part of d earth...how could they have accomplished this from Jerusalem if not for d gift of speaking in tongues With a complete bible existing in almost all d languages existing in d world,with all prophetic words written down for us in d bible ,what more do we need Do u still need to speak in tongues ?Imagine speaking to a cong where evrybody understands english or pidgin english and then u still insist on speaking in tongues,would it make any sense ?D apostles fulfilled and accomplished there ministry wit those gifts,what are recent professed christians accomplishing with there's Paul told us what will remain when all those powers are ceased...LOVE!!!!!
