RomanceRe: Help With Nigerian Husband And Misunderstandings: by ima1(f): 9:37am On Dec 28, 2007
its a typical Nigerian man behavior, my Dad is that way, he shouts about things that are meaningless, my mum is an african american woman and she is used to him shouting. its funny because my dad eats whatever he wants even what he is not supposed to eat cuz he is diabetic and when my mum says something he shouts - do you want me to starve in my own house-, but days later he complains that my mum is trying to make him fat with food. i love my dad but he is a real pain in the ass.

so it is typical of a nigerian man to shout over food, i would say you should expect more of his behavior, they don't feel like they should go into the kitchen to cook, but putting the plates back in the fridge, that is just childish.

SportsRe: Is Wrestling (WWE) Real Or Not? by ima1(f): 3:30am On Nov 13, 2007
its a mixture of both because people get injured when perfroming moves, but its fake because everything is organized, i've had the pleasure of being in the front row seat at a wrestling even and some of them were pretty real and painful, like when they get thrown out of the ring or hit with a chair.

RomanceRe: Is 4 Years Too Long For Courtship? by ima1(f): 8:42pm On Nov 06, 2007
In my opinion it is too long, if a man cannot decide if he wants to marry you after like 6 months of dating then he is not sure he wants to marry you, because a guy who is 100% sure of the woman he wants to spend his life with would not hesistate, my dad married my mum after 3 months and they have been married for 30 years and still going, so whats the point of taking to long, i believe you can find out as much as you want about a person in the first month of dating.
CelebritiesYing Yang Twins Will Be In Naija by ima1(op): 6:18am On Nov 05, 2007
Before the years runs out, a couple more international artistes are bound to visit Nigeria. In recent times, the country has been a mecca of sorts for world-famous best-selling acts, including Jay Z, Beyonce, Akon, Snoop Dogg and Diana Ross.

In the past weeks, Angie Stone and Junior Reid have joined the train, with interesting stories to tell about Nigeria and her people.

Now, in December, famous crunk rap group, the Ying Yang Twins are set to visit the country for the first time ever.

Showbiz sources revealed last week that the queer duo have confirmed their appearance at the album launch concert for a promising Nigerian artiste named Shank. The launch cum concert has been scheduled for December 15 in Lagos.

Along with several home-grown talents across genres of popular music, the group will be performing at the much anticipated event to celebrate the arrival of the rap whiz.

Speaking recently from their base in Atlanta, USA, the “brothers” said they could not wait to hit the Nigerian soil for the show, which the organisers, Starville Entertainment, have promised will be groundbreaking.

Ying Yang Twins, consisting of Kaine (born Eric Jackson on December 16, 1978) and D-Roc (born Deongelo Holmes on February 23, 1979), first came to notice in 2000 with the single Whistle While You Twurk, which got play on urban and pop radio stations and peaked at #16 on the US R&B/Hip-Hop chart.

Their full-length debut album, Thug Walkin', came out later that year.

The artiste Shank has been working on this work for about one year, says Starville spokesman, Iloya. “We want to make sure that the work will meet the high expectations of Shank’s fans so we have been working hard to deliver quality,” he says.

The coming CD, titled The Birth, which includes the hit single Julie, will contain between 15 and 20 songs. Some of the collaborations on the work will also include a partnership with Senegalese American singer Akon, in an unprecedented style that fuses dancehall with rap and R&B.

The show, says Iloya, will serve as Shank’s official arrival after years of underground work and collaborations. One of his most recent works include three tracks on Gino’s blockbuster album, Pain Plus Work, in which he laid very unusual lines that hinted at his outstanding message and personality.

Apart from dance tracks, the themes in The Birth run through peace, love, and hard work. Some of the lines also make a case for civil liberties. But beyond that, the record is a window into the abundant talent of Nigerian artistes. “Despite the saturation of the airwaves with an enormous variety of sounds, it is heartening that a sound so unique as Shank’s is still achievable,” Iloya enthused.

RomanceRe: Help Me Please B4 Its Too Late by ima1(f): 9:25pm On Nov 02, 2007
i'll break it down for ya'll.

man met girl during nysc, girl started IT and was staying with a family who would not let the girl see guy, but they r still together, guy met girl's mum, and is planning to meet girl's dad but girl is making excuses and now girl's mum would not let guy see the girl.
guy gave girl an ultimatum either he speaks with her dad because he is serious about marrying her (i assume) or he moves on, becayse he loves her and has been faithful to her.

anyway my advice is if she is still taking too much time to introduce you to her family then she is not serious about marrying you or the parents have picked someone out for her to marry, so you need to move on n show her what she is missing.
FamilyRe: Marriage And Parent Issues - I Need Help - by ima1(op): 3:29pm On Nov 02, 2007
thanks for your reply,

we met through a friend a year 5 months, engaged for 6 months i am in the US and he is in canada, we visit each other every 2 months and talk everyday, my mum met him when he proposed to me, he is paying for his flight, he is a canadian citizen - so i doubt he needs papers- he hasn't been to naija in ike 18 years, i have met n spoken to his family, who accept me and have welcomed me to their family, but mine are cold towards him, he didn't feel welcomed when he met my family, i do understand what marriage is about, n i know i am ready n he is the ONE, when i look at him, i see my future.

my parents didn't want me to postpond the wedding, so its set for January, n i can't wait to get it over with n start living my life peacefully
FamilyMarriage And Parent Issues - I Need Help - by ima1(op): 7:59am On Nov 02, 2007
Well my entire wahala began when i told my parents and introduced my mum to the guy i want to marry and since then its been one headache after the other, well after i told my parents the trouble began with the entire nigeria tradition thing, parents want to investigate the guy i am marrying but wouldn't speak to this guy at all because they think they would be begging him to marry me, (thats the problem with having rich parents). (isn't it the guy that investigates the woman) i mean they want to control everything, i want a small wedding they want a huge one, i told them if they want a huge wedding they would pay for it because i just want to have a simple life. i mean everything went out of control to the point i stopped speaking with them or answering their calls, everytime they say we have given you our blessing but then do something else that contradicts what they said. i am really tired of everything to the point that i want to move far away where my parents would not be able to get intouch with me and live my life without them interferring.

and the worst part is that i am getting married before my senior sister, thats another issue cuz she feels like i am all in her face about it when i am not, it is frustrating. i decided to move the wedding until a year so my senior sister can find someone to get married to, but my parents saw that as an issue.

the latest one is my fiance is flying to Abuja for the first time to come see my parents, and they say they don't want to see him unless he comes with his family, im like this is bullshit, its frustrating. i asked them if they will be happy if i don't get married and they were being vague about it. i think its because they want to pick a rich husband for me and i am perfectly happy with my guy who isn't all that rich and i didn't marry him for his money. n i don't need anything from my parents

what should i do, i have 2 options in mind
1. call the wedding off and move far away n get married
2. go ahead with the wedding my way, if my parents don't like it then thats their problem, cuz they r not going to stop me from being happy.

RomanceRe: My Family Is In Shambles Because Of An Ex-boyfriend by ima1(f): 3:29pm On Oct 31, 2007
well she is married n he needs to respect that, obviously they r not made 4 each other n if he never proposed marriage in the 1st place then thats his problem, n wat in the world was he doing when he left for switzerland, if he wanted to marry ur aunt he would have kept in touch visited n start planning marriage.

wat is ur auntie's hubby doing about it, he can't tell the man to back off n defend his family. this guy needs to respect the fact that "what God has joined together no man should put assunder"n move on, i wouldn't advice ur aunt to abandon her marriage 4 another guy because she might be putting a curse on her head n there is no guarantee  that she would be as happy with her ex.

you can't eat ur cake n have it too, if ur friend loves this girl then he should look into cutting down on the women around him. i doubt he would like it if it was the other way around.
