Lol, if they plant church every five mins drive away, you will complain. If they say everybody should gather together as one in redeem camp, you will still complain. Obviously, decisions cannot be made with you as the focal point na.

@OP, church finance is primarily an administrative issue. Headquarters of any establishment usually have more say. Perhaps, you find out how other parishes are doing it. i've seen some impressive rccg parishes in my little life.

Now, which way do we go?

Paul rebuked publicly, Gombs wants it to be an in-house rebuke like 'baba' did. On face value, I kind of think Gombs is right, but if we must go by scripture we must boldly follow Paul just as he himself followed Christ.
Scriptures twisted as usual. Paul wasn't on nairaland monkeying himself and gossiping or backbiting about dead people. He ACTUALLY withstood Peter to the face.
Two, Paul was right and Peter was clearly wrong, no debate.
Three, Paul corrected Peter in the spirit of meekness and love, not gloating like a rabid animal over Peter's mistake.
Four, Paul was Peter's mate as they were both apostles with marks and credibility. Unlike folks here who can't correct their kids to save their lives, but delude themselves with a calling to rain insults and jabs on ministers that they couldn't achieve a fraction of what they've done in three lifetimes. Spiritually, materially, academically and any other 'ally' there is.

You are the one who needs improvement in your cognition.
If the word of God says "Wives, submit to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord." and one finds a woman who is not doing so, it can then be said that her non-compliance is displeasing to God.
If the Word does not prescribe animal sacrifices for the church age it can be said that anyone who insists on it displeases God.
If tithing is not MANDATED for the Christian today and anyone insists on it claiming that it is required of the Christian as an obligation that too can be said to be displeasing to God.

This should be as clear as it can be.

You know i don't have issues with ya definition of tithe (as long as you don't call it God's tithe angry ). You can define tithe anyhow you want. We know tithing was not restricted to God's people, the Egyptians, Babylonians e.t.c practiced tithing as well. the question you should be asking ya self is whose tithe are you paying?
i no vex, i just dey talk true as per our last discussion.
A tithe is a tenth and a tenth is a tithe, offered or not.
There is no where the bible makes any reference to a particular "God's tithe". Mind your business instead of worrying about the question i should be asking ma self.

you are forgetting one important factor... God never commanded us to tithe, so God's pleasure or displeasure is not hinged on whether we tithe or not.

Where do you find "subtle threat of God's wrath or not being pleased that i tithe"

He's simply asking you to think right.
Are you living out your spiritual life in line with the dictates of the New Covenant or is it that for you 'anything goes'?
When someone says " deal with that before you stand

Are you referring to God's tithe or pastoral tithe? God's tithe is strictly for the Jews. Pastoral tithe (instituted by pastors!) can be paid anywhere as long as there is a pastor to collect. after all it's their money smiley

God's tithe:
Leviticus 27:30-33 (NIV)
30 “‘A tithe of everything from the land, whether grain from the soil or fruit from the trees, belongs to the Lord; it is holy to the Lord. 31 Whoever would redeem any of their tithe must add a fifth of the value to it. 32 Every tithe of the herd and flock—every tenth animal that passes under the shepherd’s rod—will be holy to the Lord. 33 No one may pick out the good from the bad or make any substitution. If anyone does make a substitution, both the animal and its substitute become holy and cannot be redeemed.’”

Pastoral tithe (as defined by image 123):
Oh here you are, the dishonest fellow who comes to this section to talk tithe. You forgot that a tithe is a tenth and a tenth is a tithe. no matter how much you hate it, 10% continues to remain a tithe.

Deuteronomy 12:10 (KJV) 10 But [when] ye go over Jordan, and dwell in the land which the LORD your God giveth you to inherit, and [when] he giveth you rest from all your enemies round about, so that ye dwell in safety;

Deuteronomy 12:11 (KJV) 11 Then there shall be a place which the LORD your God shall choose to cause his name to dwell there; thither shall ye bring all that I command you; your burnt offerings, and your sacrifices, your tithes, and the heave offering of your hand, and all your choice vows which ye vow unto the LORD:

Thither shall ye bring all that I command you.... Hmmmm sure looks like God did not want tithing to be done on Gentile soil to me. He told the children of Israel not to tithe until they were no longer on Gentile soil. Begin tithing once you cross Jordan and enter the land
He promised to Jacob.

The Gentiles did not know God's command to tithe. God still did not want tithes from Gentile soil.

Psalms 147:19 (KJV) 19 He sheweth his word unto Jacob, his statutes and his judgments unto Israel.

Psalms 147:20 (KJV) 20 He hath not dealt so with any nation: and [as for his] judgments, they have not known them. Praise ye the LORD.

And at the Jerusalem Council, it was decided by, not just the Apostles, but by the Holy Ghost as well, that the Gentiles were NOT to be required to keep the Law. The tithe command was God's Law, and it was for Israel only.... no other nation.

Romans 7:1 (KJV) 1 Know ye not, brethren, (for I speak to them that know the law,) how that the law hath dominion over a man as long as he liveth?

Romans 7:2 (KJV) 2 For the woman which hath an husband is bound by the law to [her] husband so long as he liveth; but if the husband be dead, she is loosed from the law of [her] husband.

Romans 7:3 (KJV) 3 So then if, while [her] husband liveth, she be married to another man, she shall be called an adulteress: but if her husband be dead, she is free from that law; so that she is no adulteress, though she be married to another man.

Romans 7:4 (KJV) 4 Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, [even] to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God.

When you teach people in Nigeria, Canada, etc., that God expects tithes today, you teach them to be unfaithful to Jesus Christ. You teach them to commit spiritual adultery. You teach them Law that was never meant for them.

Matthew 15:9 (KJV) 9 But in vain they do worship me, teaching [for] doctrines the commandments of men.
MarkMiwerds:
Image is very deceitful. He has been shown all of these truths many times and he, being the stubborn one he accuses me of being, refuses to accept what is clearly written in God's Holy Bible.
So from the above scriptures, it is clearly written that tithes are barred from gentile land? What a conclusion.

What other prove are you looking for?. Since you clearly know and understand that even your own jesus and his followers did not pay nor receive tithes. The onus is therefore on you to explain to him the reasons why they did neither of it.Probably if you meet Jesus or Paul or peter ect,you will still ask them to show you where they wrote it down that jesus and his followers must not tithe even when they are not tithing. In reality you are the one twisting the bible and not that guy.Just simply explain why jesus and his followers did none of it and it would be clear. But as long as you tithe advocators explain it without including jesus and his disciples, then there is a conspiracy somewhere.

"The Old Testament was all the Bible there was for centuries. It was the Bible Jesus quoted from in His ministry. The Old Testament is valuable to me because it teaches me about God, the early history of the world, and how God dealt with His chosen people, the Jews. It contains the Law and the Prophets, the Psalms and Proverbs. I appreciate the Old Testament and benefit from it, but it was not written to me"

I wonder how many times shdemidemi has been crucified for saying the part in bold wink
Anyone that listens to Hagin knows that he sayS this often. It didn't mistakenly drop, neither is it a correction made before dying. He quotes the new testament off hand for a large part, and he usually describes how his new testament portion of his bible is more worn, and how they are the letters written to him. Nothing new or shocking.
demisquare on the other hand will eternally make excuses about how Hebrews is not for him, how Romans was written to Jews in Rome and similar balderdash.
Christianity Etc › Re: The Bankruptcy Of The Prosperity Gospel: An Exercise In Biblical And Theological by Image123(m): 4:11pm On Oct 20, 2014
1Ti 6:6 But godliness with contentment is great gain.

'Contentment' means satisfaction. To be content/contented is a little different from being complacent. Contentment is a virtue while complacency is a vice. Complacency breeds mediocrity and incompetence, complacency promotes self. The Bible gives a story of a complacent rich man. It is popularly known as the "parable of the rich fool". Here was a rich man, he had PLENTY. But he rested on his oars and trusted in himself. He said "take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry". It is considered foolish of man to rest on his oars. You know, i used to see this warning right from nursery school on report cards. This rich man should have learnt this. he learnt the hard way. He was complacent.
The Lord wants us to be contented. What again does it mean to be contented? Does it mean to happy at one's miserable condition? NO. If you're in a miserable condition, there should be plans and effort to get out of it. It is better to try than not to try at all. Does contentment mean to glorify poverty, or illiteracy? If i am in primary school, should i make no effort to get to secondary school? Would that be contentment? If i live in one room, should i never desire or plan towards owning three rooms? Would that be contentment? If i was a sinner, should i be satisfied in my sins? If i became born again(gave my life to Jesus, became saved, or whatever term you describe it as) last week, should i press towards the prize of God's high calling, and thirst for spiritual gifts and fruits, and the knowledge of God? Or should i remain satisfied and thanking God for saving me? Would that be contentment? NO.
The contentment this verse focuses is to know how to ABOUND and how to ABASE. Longsuffering is not long suffering. One is a fruit of the Spirit of God, the other is an affliction. True Contentment is to be happy and rested IN GOD. Real and genuine contentment is to trust God whatever may be, whatever we may be facing. You might be going through poverty and lack, it is not a time to be discouraged or to backslide. You still trust and believe in God, this is contentment. You might face something tragic like a loss of a close one, it is not a time or opportunity to become an atheist, or to charge God foolishly. This is Bible contentment. Contentment is not a resignation to fate, but faith in God's power and ability to see you through. Paul says "I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need". He knew how to ABOUND. Contentment is not making poverty a permanent dwelling place. Contentment is SEEING constant need/want as SUFFERING. He did not enjoy need, He suffered need. Balance godliness with contentment, it is great gain.
