Business › Re: What's The Greatest Challenge You've Encountered As A Rising Entrepreneur? by InvertedHammer: 11:32pm On Nov 10, 2012
DailyNews: In midst of present global economy melt down and several other economy flaws happening in Nigeria and beyond, as an entrepreneur trying to rise to fame like other successful entrepreneurs you look up to as role models, what has been the greatest challenge you have encountered so far in your entrepreneurial journey?

To guide you, see below:

- Access to funds for expansion?
- Power/Electricity
- Time factor?
- High running cost, e.g. shop/office rent, utility bills, etc?
- Low Sales/Poor patronage?
- Government policies, e.g. the banning of Okada, demolition claimed illegally built shops, VAT, tax officers, etc?
- Transportation?
- Wrong location?

etc....etc...

Let's be factual, mature and business-minded and learn...thanks ahead smiley

Now...my friend..you are talking reality. I continue to hammer it away for those who keep talking of enterpreneurship as if it is a walk in the park.
In Nigeria, the odds are stack against you overtly and covertly. It is like going to a battlefield with both hands tied behind your back.

obalola7: Work Work Work...

The Nigeria situation is pathetic. While i sympathized with most Nigerian youths and graduates who continue to experience the agony associated with looking for job, some of them are not to be pitied.
While few years or even months ago, i would have love to canvas for Nigerians living abroad to help the situation by joining effort together to create jobs or establish or invest in Nigeria. However, Nigeria abroad too are not smiling, things are not really going well.

And for those who have thought of coming back home to invest and creates job, some of these graduates have not only squander the business capital, but kill the business completely. One of the guy i spoke with was telling me how he brought so much money to start a block industry with latest machines or equipments, in less than 9 months he ran out of the country. You can not even leave your business especially start-up business with anybody other than yourself

Nigeria situation is pathetic, we hear about the Jewish sending money to help creates jobs in Israel. However, in Nigeria case, if you try such, and those who had, end up having hypertension if not eventually die as a result of organized fraud instituted by their confidant or even kill by harm robbers if you dear question or make attempt to collect your money.

Nigeria situation from joblessness, corruption, bad leader, no light etc can only be diagnosed and treated by supreme being.

I think one of the best way to resolve this joblessness is collaborative effort in youth working together and addressing the situation. The one that has brain to come with idea and the one that has money with no brain should put money down, but here come trust, where everyone want to carry all the money or some does not want to work. An average Nigeria graduates want to be multi-millionaire in one day..

Look at all the yahoo yahoo money that comes in to Nigeria, you will see them buying expensive cars and going to squander the money in the clubs and few years later, when the money is all gone, they now remember they have a degree and will try clean up their CV to start looking for job..

In one of the recent report from Somalian pirates, people were asking what they pirates lords were doing with their money a critical investigation into Billions of dollars that enter into the country, was not even use by the pirate lords for their personal selfish need, rather, they evenly distribute the money to help the poor that use to be fisher men and to improve the village economy" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Piracy_in_Somalia " If you go to the Benefit section at the bottom of the page you will see how the ransom collected from victims benefit the economy.

If you want i can send you a pdf documents that have detail information on this.. just send me your email if you are interested, because it will not fit into this place.

But in Nigeria case, yahoo yahoo boys collect money from mugun and later become the biggest mugun after few years.. you will see them littering and lottering the street of Nigeria with past glory.

What happens to million dollars from mugun, why cant that money be used for investment in Nigeria, why should we continue to expect the government to creates jobs.. what happen to our brain that is so good at deceiving people to collect their hard earn money and not good enough to create job with it... what happen to invention, investment?

An average student after graduation would live like he owns the earth with a 200k job, what happen to savings? Many want to drive cars, spend 20k in the bear pa-lour when their mates outside the country are thinking of developing new application, thinking of a business to start and planning for the future, Nigeria graduate is thinking of how he is going to yahoo, yahoo everyone so he can drive Range Rover, Bentley, Rose Royce and daily spend beyond the people who work hard for their money

My advice, when you make the money, think of making best the money for yourself so you will never have to be unemployed and then plan to employ others.
My brother..you couldn't have said it any better. I bought into invest in Nigeria stuff two years ago. I got burned really bad. While I waited to fight it out, it was the same folks I was supposedly helping that went out making mockery of my efforts. They even came up with the rumor that I was deported and that I was financially finished. After about 6 months, I packed up and left Nigeria without looking back. Like I always say, if it works for you..good luck! For me, no more business arrangement(s) with anyone in Nigeria.
Culture › Re: The Hardest of the 3 Major Language to Learn by InvertedHammer: 1:41pm On Nov 09, 2012
ChinenyeN: The orthodox understanding of 'Igbo language' is a weird one. According to the understanding, the various "dialects" of 'Igbo language' stand as a testimony of 'Igbo language'. So, as long as you speak any "dialect", you are claimed to be speaking 'Igbo language'. At the same time the idea of 'Igbo language' does not exist outside of its "dialects". Devoid 'Igbo' of its speech forms and you no longer have 'Igbo language'. So, in a simplified and contradictory explanation, all Igbo people speak Igbo, but no Igbo person really speaks Igbo language. It's weird.

Wonders shall never end! Your name is Chinenye and you are a man

Business › Re: Can You Fast For A Whole Year To Become A Billionaire? by InvertedHammer: 4:45pm On Nov 04, 2012
Yes and No!

No, you cannot make N1 billion. But you can make a lot of money if you are healthy.

This is how it goes....

You fast for 1 year. During the process, you contact all these foreign organizations with
people waiting for organ transplants. You negotiate with them how much the recipients will
be willing to pay for your kidney, heart, eyes, etc. Once, you got the prices down. Then
make your immediate family member(s) the beneficiary. But make sure you get the contract in writing
to avoid "bait and switch". It will be advisable to use the services of a good attorney.

Then proceed with your fasting. Definitely you will kick over before one month. Voila! A lot
of money you made.

Carfax/VIN check is only good if they do the repairs at a place that tracks/reports the vehicle. If they take it to a "mom and pop" car repair, then more than likely the repair will never show on Carfax... especially if no Insurance claim is made against the repair.

You think privatization will make things better? Just like privatization of fuel importation? The same corruption that got the worst out of
fuel importers (fraud and scarcity) and telecommunication companies (high tariffs) will rear its ugly head in these new energy companies.
The result will be fraud, scarcity and high tariff. IT IS NOT YET UHURU! You better buy another standby generator. You ain't seen darkness yet

The same cars get shipped to the West Coast too at discounted prices. So buying from the West Coast does not guarantee anything.
We see a lot here which is why California has lemon law to protect buyers from unscrupulous car salesmen. Be informed that used car salespersons
rank high among hated people (in terms of the profession) in the USA next to lawyers and insurance sales agents.
Car Talk › Re: How To Avoid Buying A Flooded Car From The US? by InvertedHammer: 4:58pm On Oct 31, 2012
Some issues here:

Has he bought the car yet? If yes, no need for refund. If No, refund may be applicable.

If he buys the car now and it is a flood car. What can you do? Nothing!

But to satisfy your curiosity....the easiest give away of flooded car which is very difficult to hide is the interior carpet.
Some extreme detailing may hide other warning signs of mud. When you get the car, pry open the carpet and check for signs of mud.
Nobody is meticulous enough to detail under carpet of a car...They hope buyers wont be knowledgeable enough to look.

If mud exists under the carpet, oh well....

Either way, whatever the flooding did not destroy, Nigeria mechanics will.

[b]Tips To Consider
So what if your girlfriend is insisting on expenditures, how do you convince her to wait? Here are few tips:
Let Her Know That You Are Not Ready
You don’t have to be apologetic or timid about it, just let her know in no uncertain tone that you need some more time before you allow for such a level of intimacy. Tell her that expenses will take the relationship to a different level and you want to be sure that you are emotionally ready for it.
If there is even the slightest of resistance in you, it implies that deep down you are not sure or that your intuition is warning you against it. Pay heed to this intuition and stand firm by your decision.

Assure Her That Denial Is Not A Reflection Of A Lack Of Love
Your girlfriend will question you if you are in love with her or not when you deny her demands. It’s quite a norm for girls to use the tool of “emotional” pressure, so she is bound to get a little cross with you and demand to know if the reason why you are denying expenses is because you are unsure of the relationship. You will need to convince her quite sweetly that this is not the case and that the relationship means a lot to you.

You can tell your girl that you are waiting for the relationship to mature in terms of emotional bonding and closeness before you take it to the next level.
Get Her To See This From Your Perspective
A guy might feel hesitant about spending money early in the relationship because he feels that the girl might treat her differently once his money runs out. There are many instances when a girl's attitude changes completely once she feels she has “scored” with the mugu, this also leads to hollow relationships. Girls also tend to label a guy as a “maga” if he continues to spend money before closing the deal.

NYSC › Re: Question For Foreign Trained Graduates/ Corpers by InvertedHammer: 9:35pm On Oct 30, 2012
[b]Considerations:
What are your long term goals?
Job security? Retirement benefits?

My advice: Go back to wherever you come from and build your nest. You can always go back to Nigeria anytime (after you retire).

Eg. Someone retired in USA with 70% of his income monthly receivable. Add 401k, social security, TSP,Roth IRA, Tra. IRA, etc. and the sum
receivable at the end of the month is about $7,000. (N1,100,000/month) for doing nothing. He went to Nigeria to start
a business. Good or bad...he can still live comfortably off of his retirement benefits. And this is under VA guide. Last time I saw him
in City Park, Abuja...he was just chilling. Good for him.

Can you say same of Nigeria? Even if you will be getting $2000 per month (N300,000/month)for the rest of your life, that is still a lot of cushion money to
relocate to Nigeria.

Think about it. Nigeria "may" offer a little bit of immediate gratification (which I doubt), but what is the outlook?
