sarrki: The National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, Dr Victor Oye, has said going by the pattern of voting in the Saturday’s presidential poll in the South-East, the possibility of the Igbo producing the President of the country in 2023 is dicey.
The South-East geopolitical zone voted overwhelmingly for the Peoples Democratic Party in the election.
Speaking at a press conference on Thursday in Amawbia, near Awka, the Anambra State capital, Oye blamed the Igbo for always putting their “eggs in one basket.”
He said the Igbo should stop playing politics of emotions and face what he called the “reality of the country’s monolithic political structure.”
He said, “For me, I believe the Igbo play more of politics of emotion than politics of pragmatism. They are not realistic; they always pander to emotionalism.
“Everything to them is all about a particular interest. Once they make up their mind to go towards a particular direction, that is where a sizeable number of them will go.
“So, I’m not optimistic about 2023 Igbo presidency going by what has happened now.”
He said the Igbo should come together as a people to discuss their common interest.
He added, “Their common problem is unity. They cannot always come together and they are easily swayed by extraneous things as demonstrated in the last two elections of 2015 and 2019.
“Igbo should realign themselves and re-determine the options before them.
From what happened last Saturday, the Igbo people worked as a team; but in the end, they lost. They won the battle and lost the war.
“ They asserted themselves, showing they can make things happen. It shows that if they pool their resources together and work under one political party, they will make more foray.
“Ndigbo need to play at the national level and not ethnocentric regional politics, knowing that Nigeria is a monolithic political structure.”
https://punchng.com/igbo-presidency-in-2023-dicey-apga-chairman/ You said it all; they pander to their emotions - which translates to tribal and religious politics with manifestation as constant insults and contempt for others - who they inevitably would later expect to be relying on their support for their candidacy. IMPOSSICANT! They have already laid their own bed so let them lie on it; as of now they should realise that they have Atikulated their turn to Atiku; so their next turn would come after 4 Buhari followed by 4+4 Yoruba then 4+4 Hausa = 20yrs from now. |

FriendNG: Buhari still win with all the lies & propaganda about Islamization of Nigeria being perpetuated in their Churches.
If after 8 years Buhari did not islamize Nigeria then they are all bastards. Yes indeed, they used the church and their media to poison the minds of gullible Nigerians against the president; they thought that fanning the embers of hatred along ethno-religious fault lines, using the herdsmen vs farmers conflict as a vehicle, especially in the middle belt would be sufficient enough to turn the political tide against Buhari - fortunate for Nigeria, they miscalculated big time. The alleged Islamization agenda was a big hoax and in reality quite the opposite; because more churches are being built in the Muslim north than mosques in the Christian south - Nigeria is in fact in more danger of being Christinized than being Islamized. |

oilPUSSY: With the way things are currently going, the future of of better south is not guaranteed. Soon, south will realise that core notherners don't give a damn about them because they can still achieve their aim without you . How the Population of core notherners is growing should be a source of worry to all of us. ( Even though 90 percent of them are suffering, but it's an advantage to their politicians) Our religion forbids polygamy while that of core notherners who are predominantly Muslims encourage polygamy. Eg.. The fake Chief Justice of Nigeria who is educated has 32 children, then close your eyes and imagine how many children average non educated northerner has.
If Nigeria is not balkanised or restructured, Core Northern population might swallow us in decades to come.. You might not be there, but your children will be the one that will bear the consequences.. (Even the so called restructuring has been buried and I don't think it would see the light of the day except by God's grace) The restructuring of this country still has K leg somehow because these intruders will still invade your lands and tell you that they are still citizens of the country.
Now take a look at the picture I attached below and see how far they have gone in terms of population. Soon, a Northern candidate will contest an election and still win even without being supported by any southerner. (It's a very sad reality we must all be conscious of).
In early 30's , the population of Southerners could be equated with that of northerners, but today the reverse is the case. The gap is getting wider day by day.....
Better south and progressive North Central should wake up.. That is the consequence of pushing ethnicity and religion to the forefront of your politics above all other consideration at the expense of nationalism where Nigerians should feel and think as one. As long as your ppl continue to show contempt for the north and its major religion (Islam) the more you will strengthen and unite northerners to trust and support only their own. OBJ re-entrenched tribal and religious politics in recent times; he primarily targeted the north central zone (a.k.a. middle belt) in order to dilute perceived northern block vote for Buhari - the seeds of which germinated into the Jos Plateau crisis and to a larger extent and more recently, the present herder/farmer conflict - they had their roots in religious and tribal hatred. Even though dented, the said northern block vote had largely remained intact as seen in the 2015 and present 2019 voting pattern. This is not to say that northerners do not have the capacity to vote independently of these considerations; as witnessed when they voted for Abiola at the expense of their own son Bashir Tofa in the 1993 June 12 elections. The reality on the ground is that southerners are responsible for where they find themselves today; if they push tribe and religion as they often do; northerners will always have the numbers and therefore the capacity to beat them at it, hands down. The only way out is for southerners to down play ethnicity and religion, and instead embrace unity and nationalism, then perhaps it is not inconceivable to see an Igboman or Youruba e.g. as governor of Sokoto, Borno or anywhere in the country - freely voted into office and loved by northerners. |

BRIEF SUMMARY: Northern region, previously known for using under aged voters, recorded no such incidence this time around. There were pockets of violence in most parts of the country but mostly noticeable in the southern region, with Rivers State being most prominent. Voter buying was again confined to the south; mainly in the SS and SE geopolitical zones. Security was quite adequate throughout the country, including NE where unrest was anticipated but not witnessed; the Nigerian Army and its leadership was largely responsible and highly commended for this achievement.
The American observers therefore concluded that the elections were free and fair. |

nduka84: Some are cut out for the suffering and do not care about it. The North never told us they do not like suffering and poverty.
All they want is power. I spoke to a Hausa Fulani friend of mine last night who spoke what he described as some truths to me.
He said you Igbos have commerce and industry. Your people travel all over the world, many send money back to their parents and their communities, from their diasporan jobs.
The South West has commerce also, education, thriving airports and Seaports.
The Middle belt has agriculture and Food, and we accommodate them by giving them jobs.
So we must leave power to them in the North. That power, is all they have to survive on. That whether you guys leave power for us or not, we have designed a foolproof means to take power and hold on to it till 2031. He said that power to the North is not a desire or want, but a genuine need for the survival of the Northerner. That in the next 48hrs, I will see what will happen, and how easily Buhari will be declared winner. I said impossible. He said just watch.
He told me that the North suffered while Obasanjo and Jonathan were in power. He said OBJ retired all their Generals. OBJ gave the ministry of Finance to a Southerner for the first time, that Jonathan did same. That if not for El Rufai and Ribadu putting their foot down in 2007, that Obasanjo was almost going to hand power over to a Southerner in the name of Peter Odili. He said that that singular move by El Rufai and Ribadu will make one of them President after Buhari in 2023.
He said the North will never go back to playing second fiddle. Their experience from 1999 to 2015 is not one they will forget in a while. That the North loves Buhari, because he gives all his appointments to Northerners. That whenever a northerner is in charge of a sector, they recruit and promote northerners, and it's effects last for more than 20yrs, and help their people survive, which is why they love and admire Buhari's approach to appointments.
He went on to say that Atiku is from an unrecognized Adamawa State and is almost a Kanuri. That him and his restructuring agenda will never be allowed to rule. That he knows it, and all the North know it, which is why the elections in the North are peaceful and there is no fighting, thuggery and killing. That the North know that Atiku's policies will advance the South and send the North into deep poverty, not on purpose, but by sharing the power, so they will not let him on board. That PDP shot themselves in the foot by choosing Atiku. A man from the Northwest, Tambuwal or Kwankwaso would have done it, and kept power in the North for them, but Atiku is far too exposed.
He even went as far as telling me that the south should forget 2023, and 2027. That the North have agreed that the south will not have power again till 2031, at the earliest and so it shall be. By which time they will have Fulani emirates in cattle colonies in Ebonyi, Oyo and Edo State, whether we like it or not.
They have told Ribadu and El Rufai to warm up, that it will be one of them in 2023, most likely the former, who is being kept away from controversy.
I asked what about Tinubu and Osinbajo. He laughed louder than ever. He described Tinubu as the biggest southern fool alive. He said they in the North were surprised that he would be fighting for Buhari's second term, after all Buhari did to him in his first four year term. He had none of his ministerial appointments approved and was shut completely out. All it took was Buhari attending his birthday party for his heart to melt. His VP was also shut out and is continously disgraced in Aso Rock. The only VP in the history of Nigeria that cannot see the president without going through an administrative staff, the chief of Staff, Abba Kyari. He said they do not trust Osinbajo, hence keeping him out of sensitive meetings, and that he will never be President, except he is ready to wait for 2031, but he is not their type. Complete bullshit contrived and written in the backstreets of Aba for a Nollywood movie titled 'The Wicked Lies of a Bloda' |

PoliticsNigeria: @POLITICSNGR
PoliticsNGR has been furnished with a statement from the Nigerian presidency signed by Spokesman, Femi Adesina, containing President Muhammadu Buhari's reaction to reports of a plot by his government to Islamize Nigeria.
The President described the reports as 'False and Wicked', adding that he remains committed to Freedom of Religion in the country. The Statement read;
"It has come to the notice of President Muhammadu Buhari, ahead of the forthcoming elections, that some unscrupulous Nigerians are again falsely and wickedly claiming that the administration has an agenda to impose Islam on Nigeria.
The objective is clearly to stoke up religious division for political gains. Some of these same persons made these devious and fabricated claims ahead of the 2015 election. They failed woefully.
The President strongly affirms the oath he took before the Nigerian people to faithfully defend the Constitution of Nigeria. That Constitution guarantees freedom of worship for every Nigerian. It is this guarantee that enables all Nigerians to practise their faiths or religion without hindrance.
President Buhari further affirms his commitment to freedom of religion and worship for all Nigerians, and that under no circumstance will any religion or faith be imposed on any Nigerian.
It is dangerous, deceptive and ungodly to play politics with religion."
https://politicsngr.com/breaking-president-buhari-finally-speaks-plot-islamize-nigeria/ Medicine after death, the damage has already been done; this stupid propaganda had gone on for far too long and Femi Adesina does not seem to have done enough to defend the president. How could he leave it till the eve of the elections to address this problem when most of our gullible youth have already been brainwashed into believing this big fat lie? Siimilarly, he had also been slack or at best feeble, in trying to defend the president on the issue of the 97% vs 5% allegation in which PMB was completely quoted our of context and the allegations made to stick till date. |
