how does this one in a lifetime event explain tithing your possession when Abraham did not tithe his possession.

Let’s ask ourselves a reasonable question: Just how did Jacob actually give a tithe to God? Did he personally hand it to God? No, no one has ever even seen God. Did Jacob tithe to an angel? No, angels do not need and can’t use tithes. Did Jacob send his tithe to Heaven by Celestial Express? No. Did he take it to the local church? No, there was no local church. Did he take it to the Temple? No, there was no temple. Did he give it directly to one of the Levitic priests? No, there were no Levites as yet. Well how then did Jacob tithe to God? Was it even possible? Yes, there were actually two different ways that Jacob could tithe to God:

1. "And thither ye shall bring your burnt offerings, and your sacrifices, and your TITHES, and heave offerings of your hand, and your vows, and your freewill offerings, and the firstlings of your herds and of your flocks: And there ye shall eat before the Lord your God, and ye shall rejoice in all that ye put your hand unto, YE and YOUR HOUSEHOLDS, wherein the Lord thy God hath blessed thee" (Deut. 12:6-7).

2. "And even though there were no Levites in Jacob’s day, nonetheless, there were "...the STRANGER, and the FATHERLESS, and the WIDOW, which are within thy gates, shall come, and SHALL EAT AND BE SATISFIED; that the Lord thy God may bless thee in all the work of thin hand which thou doest" (Deut. 14:29).

A warning to all charlatans and would-be tithe extractors and collectors: There is NO temple of God being officiated in Jerusalem today. There is NO Levitic priesthood to officiate at such a temple. There is NO NEED for such a temple or priesthood at this time. Only Levites could collect tithes at the temple. Therefore, EVERYONE collecting tithes today is a charlatan and a fake. If one cannot historically trace back his genealogy generation by generation with no lapses to the family of Aaron, he IS NOT and CANNOT be a priest authorized of God at this time to collect tithes for the temple services and sacrifices. (Of course Jesus IS our Sacrifice, and therefore that whole system funded by the tithes of the law is no longer applicable.)

Let us learn. Who was to partake of all these tithes and good things of the herd and of the land and of the trees? Everyone (yes, the Levite was also included) was to rejoice before the Lord. Did anyone see "money" in the list of things they were to bring before the Lord to rejoice? Was it just the ministers (the Levites) who were the recipients of these tithes and offerings, or was not everyone to partake of these things? Rejoicing and eating one’s own tithe before the Lord, was a very personal and reverent act of worship and communion with God. Not unlike prayer. Others may share and profit from our prayers, but we offer them to God, not to men.

The true believers under the New Covenant are now God’s temple,
"For YOU ARE THE TEMPLE OF THE LIVING GOD, according as God said, that I will be making My home and will be walking in them, and I will be their God, and they shall be My people" (II Cor. 6:16).

Each individual believer under the New Covenant forms a NEW priesthood,
"Yet you are a chosen race, a ‘ROYAL PRIESTHOOD’..." (I Peter 2:9).

TITHING: How Today's Christian Got it Wrong

1. There is NO WHERE in the Acts of the Apostles or the epistles that tithing is prescribed for the Christian.

2. Incidentally the CHURCH in Acts of the Apostle had a situation where some felt that Christians had to continue to follow all that is in the Mosaic Law. (Acts 15)

3. At the end of the day the Holy Spirit guided them to the conclusion that Christians are not to follow the Law.

4. Christians who INSIST on tithing or threaten others on tithing or even advocate monetary blessings for tithers ALL GO BACK TO THE OLD COVENANT to justify their positions.

5. Whilst they claim to be under the New Covenant it still seem more comfortable for them to run back to the old to determine how to live their NEW LIFE IN CHRIST.

6. TWO general positions by tithe advocates are: (1) Tithing based on the Law of Moses and (2) Tithing based on recording of tithing practice before the Law e.g. Abraham's incident with Melchizedek.

7. Interestingly the prescription for tithing under the Mosaic Law is very clear. It was ONLY AGRICULTURAL PRODUCE that were to be tithed.

8. When any pastor or person resort to the book of Malachi (particularly chapter 3) to justify tithing what such people fail to point out is that the TITHES refered to there is the ones prescribed by the Mosaic Law. So, such a person needs to show how and what EXACTLY the Mosaic Law prescribed as tithes. Malachi chapter 4 verse 4 clearly ask the same audience of book to remember the law of Moses.

9. For those who use Abraham's encounter with Melchizedek to justify tithing they need to see that that incident only showed what happened. There was no instructions to pay tithe as a result of what Abraham did. Abraham did many other things, including telling lies, but no one (I hope) will use those incidents as a RULE for Christian living today.

10. Besides, Abraham was neither compelled not cajoled to give. Secondly he gave out of SPOILS OF WAR not from his business. Honesty demands that this incident is really not a best example to give but since pro-tithers look for anywhere and anything that SUGGESTS tithing they run to it.

11. Other tithe advocates pick on the statement of Jesus in Mathew 23:23 - "“Woe to you, [self-righteous] scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you give a tenth (tithe) of your mint and dill and cumin [focusing on minor matters], and have neglected the weightier [more important moral and spiritual] provisions of the Law: justice and mercy and faithfulness; but these are the [primary] things you ought to have done without neglecting the others."

12. What Jesus was saying that the Pharisees tithed were ALL plant items, not money.

13. Tithes advocates looking at this verse CONVENIENTLY ignore the FACT that Jesus said there were other things that were WEIGHTIER.

We have been searching the Scriptures to clearly see what our Heavenly Father commanded on Tithes Payment. Remember it's Tithes not Tithe meaning it's more than just one form of tithe just as we have earlier discussed.
We Talked about Tithe payment under the Patriarchal Age, Mosaic Era (Time of the Jews) and discovered that there were 4 different types of Tithes. Two of the tithes were to be eaten by the Tithe Payer, Levites, Orphans, Strangers and windows Deut. 14:22-29. Some were to be paid Regularly, while others were to be paid yearly and every 3 years.
We also saw some facts about the Law of TITHING and we were able to discuss 6 of this facts among others.
Then Lastly, we talked about the Beneficiaries of This Tithes and Saw Clearly that an outsider a None Levites Cannot benefits from Tithe that means He or She has no right Biblically to collect TITHE.
Today, we will be Looking at the PURPOSE OF TITHES IN THE OLD TESTAMENT.
The major purpose of Tithes in the Old Testament was to sustain the Priests "Who were all Levites" Working in the 'House of God' The Temple.
God did not want the Levites to do any other work to earn a living so He did not allow them to receive a share of the land. Num.18 : 20-31.
20 Then the Lord said to Aaron: "You shall have no inheritance in their land , nor shall you have any portion among them; I am your portion and your inheritance among the children of Israel.
21 "Behold , I have given the children of Levi all the tithes in Israel as an inheritance in return for the work which they perform , the work of the tabernacle of meeting.
22 Hereafter the children of Israel shall not come near the tabernacle of meeting , lest they bear sin and die.
23 But the Levites shall perform the work of the tabernacle of meeting , and they shall bear their iniquity; it shall be a statute forever , throughout your generations , that among the children of Israel they shall have no inheritance.

14 Only to the tribe of Levi He had given no inheritance; the sacrifices of the Lord God of Israel made by fire are their inheritance , as He said to them.

Joshua. 14:3-5
3 For Moses had given the inheritance of the two tribes and the half-tribe on the other side of the Jordan; but to the Levites He had given no inheritance among them.
4 For the children of Joseph were two tribes: Manasseh and Ephraim. And they gave no part to the Levites in the land , except cities to dwell in , with their common-lands for their livestock and their property.
5 As the Lord had commanded Moses , so the children of Israel did; and they divided the land.
God's plan in the Old Testament was that the Levites were to eat from the Temple "The Tithes offered by the rest tribes". Neh.12:44
44 And at the same time some were appointed over the rooms of the storehouse for the offerings , the firstfruits , and the tithes , to gather into them from the fields of the cities the portions specified by the Law for the priests and Levites; for Judah rejoiced over the priests and Levites who ministered.
Therefore, If You Were Not A Levites You Can Not Receive Tithes. Today, No Nigerian is a Levite(That is, No Nigeria is From The Tribe of Levi in Israel) and No Nigerian Belongs To The Rest Eleven Tribes' Who Paid Tithes To Levi.
Therefore, No Nigerian is Under Obligation To Pay Tithes. CLEAR AND SIMPLE.
