fyneguy: Take their money from whom? why should they expect to recoup within 90 days? such a proposal is DOA.
I think shared revenue is the best model. It favours all parties - Suppliers, Consumers and Discos. Why not after 90 days? Are the meters to be hoarded in warehouses or distributed to people who will pay for them? The price for one unit then was N15k BTW. How much are people paying for meters now that they are waiting years without getting them? |

Harwoyeez: it was clearly stated distribution and not manufacturing, read slowly next time boss If there is a local manufacturer, why all these foreign companies "distributing" like you say? |

SalamRushdie: People are just applauding this criminal initiative to extort Nigerians once more without asking questions
Who is going to bear the cost of the metres ?
Who owns the metre at the end of the day ?
How long are these companies going to keep metering people? I was part of an initiative by a Portuguese Coy called RESUL to supply meters like 5 years ago. They were ready to supply free and take their money after 90 days. As I'm speaking to you, I'm not sure what became of it. Naija tins just get as e be. |

I was expecting to see MOJEC on that list.
In case you don't know, MOJEC is an indigenous Company already manufacturing meters right here in Nigeria.
What a pity!

flyca: Basic amenities (light to see road first, potable water, basic education, security, good health care) are not in place yet, and you want car-powering-house technology? For your dreams, abi?
First of all, does the Nigerian Government understand the importance of Technology? How can they when they are illiterates and pen-thieves running after their own pockets.
Do you know that for Nigeria to be a technologically developed country, we need at least $100 Billion dollars annually and consistently for at least 10 years into our education system (Primary, Secondary and Tertiary institutions? And use it judiciously?
Did you see any black man well-funded research institutes anywhere in the world?
Do you think that other countries just "wish" technology and development into their countries?
It's a long story jare. So China and India spent that much to be where they are now? One TRILLION US Dollars in ten years? Oshey Daddy! |

It's better to be quiet and be thought a fool than to open mouth and remove every doubt.
We are talking about colossal waste of more than $13bn that could have changed our life for better, you are talking of the paper reporting the issue.
OBJ has never denied it for a day that he wasted the money and the opportunity. This monumental loss has been in the public domain for years. The NASS at some point investigated it but because our NASS is ever useless, nothing came out of it. What waste? If you see substation sites where equipment are piled without installation because subsequent governments will not appropriate funds for the project completion, you will weep. I have worked on power projects for the past 14 years. A lot of equipment were manufactured and shipped only to spend years at port and multi millions expended to settle demurrage charges. Guy, I am angry about these idiots playing politics with our lives, but it's not your fault that you don't know what's going on, so I will neither blame you nor vent my anger by insulting you. I have tried to leave the power sector but my experience makes the companies keep coming after me, but, seriously, I'm tired of the rot. You will see a HUGE substation 90% completed yet closed down for 3 years because there is no appropriation while all installations will be in the rain and overgrown by weeds...... I have pictures of virtually finished substations sitting there because the transmission lines to feed them are not complete....... Please let me not talk again. I hope people will be enlightened a bit by reading this post....... Bubu should not talk about what he doesn't know. |

In the US, the President is stopped from choosing not to read stuff people are writing to him and about him.
In Nigeria, the law can't even protect senators, governirs and ex-presidents from the president should they say anything he doesn't like, to say much less about the common man. |

Hmmmmm.......
If I see gruesomely murdered policemen this is the exact reason why I struggle to feel pity but I cannot.
Sincerely, I try.
I even try to think of their wives and kids but a part of me remembers killings like this and goes, "who's dumb enough to marry a Nigerian policeman?" "Tough luck to the kids, their mom was foolish enough to go into the vampire's home with a working womb".
These killings make me doubt the humanity of Nigeria's policemen. |

The poultry farms, fisheries and piggeries in Osun are many and increasing. I'm currently investing in one myself. Sadly, the State Govt just ignored the huge IGR potential of encouraging animal husbandry and fish farming in exclusive favour of all these projects. I live in Osun. The roads and schools are real and there to see, but IGR suffered. There lies the real failure of Aregbe. |
