So no one else is going to review Lock Stock? wow. I thought more people would've seen it. |
bawomolo:Lol. You already ratted me out? Abeg polar bears move aside, human beings take priority. After we have chop belleful then we can talk about you.i know it isn't free and that's why we shall take money from NASA and the army to get me a free medical marijuana cardLOL. This is too funny lol. Are you sure the marijuana is medical? was is Dr Phil that gave you that prescription? what exactly is the national security threat. heck our home based terrorists are of more concern to me than china or some talibani dude. the US is luckily protected by two oceans. i personally do not see a reason why the army needs all these expensive toys (which we aren't gonna use anyway) in a time where state governments are struggle to fund health care and pension plans.Do you want us to find out the hard way? I'm in favor of 'over-preparedness'. If that is the sin the army is committing then may they continue to revel in it shamelessly. They can definitely spend wiser and cut back, no question. But outrageously wasteful "projects" like these in my own backyard are slipping under the radar why the masses are villifying the army for trying to protect us: $4.6 million bridge being built by the state for horses - Other Massachusetts bridges languish^^now this is poster-child for government waste. Not weapons specialist Mr. Anderson who's trying to build a faster, stealth jet so the US can keep an eye on those feisty, trigger-happy North Koreans and keep us safe. I know NASA scientists have been responsible for many discoveries ( can we say tempur-pedic bedsMe self I will join hand with you and say no to the waste above. We can all tighten our belts from top down, the army has been known to waste in the past so no objections from me at all . . . but don't hate on those tempur-pedics oh, those things are like clouds ![]() I personally would like to see this money diverted to our national labs and research institutes or to rescue struggling state school boards like the one in Detroit. landing on the moon or having the fastest warplane is not that much of a priority IMO.I think you're muddying 2 seperate issues. Contrary to you and many others, I do not think that many 'struggling schools' simply need more money thrown at them. Infact, I believe the national statistics show that more and more money is being spent per head of each child in public schools year after year (no doubt some of it is simply higher costs of everything). The problem with the rot in schools starts at home. More and more children are not being parented right or at all - we see this evidenced in their attitudes in school and in the community. Pumping in more money may give them Apple computers and oak-lined chairs instead of Dells and cold aluminum seats - but it will not make them better students or better children. I do concur though that funds are needed to provide better teachers, a good teacher can in certain cases make a world of difference. And I also concur landing on the moon may not be that important in the grand scheme, but I think having the fastest warplane here on volatile earth is very very important - staying ahead of the technological curve is absolutely vital to me. I'm serious oh. Of what use is there having well-fed, educated people if their safety cannot be guaranteed? Safety is just as important as education, if not more in my book. a leftist is crazy by default. where did you think those peace love and happiness hippies came from I'm glad say na you talk am ![]() good thing i'm hiding in the suburbs. those chicago agberos would tear me apartWhy now? don't you want to help the "inner-city" kids? where's your compassion Bawo? you must put your ![]() |
bawomolo:Sometimes you have your moments Bawo After many years of turmoil and contemplation, I am a supporter of Affirmative Action. |
kobikwelu: see wahala, when? okay oh. Which parry are you part of? NAMCPAACUPP aka National Movie Critics' Political Action Association Caucus United Peoples' Parry? Well, I will personally vote for you even if no one else does kobikwelu:Nice one K. You didn't wait for JK to round up The Usual Suspects self lol. I salute a man of action jare. I already talk say I go vote for you. I heard tons about this movie, wish I've seen it . . . if I find it online I may squeeze it into the schedule. |
kobikwelu: lol, we're slowly getting hints of what your tenure would look like if you were voted president of Naija ![]() |
Leave it to Me I shall be watching from the audience on this one. I think this movie is a favorite of Spiked if I'm not mistaken. |
You've mentioned it once or twice here in the forum. You don forget? lol. |
Uyi Iredia:Very nice ^. I would like to see Kay17 and Mudley try that post on for size. |
nuclearboy:Lol, I'm laughing already. You have a strange, laughter-inducing way of stringing unlikely words together. Why, if truly mature and successful, should what someone else thinks of me, change the price of fish in my head? But its so for most and thus, they can be controlled and/or motivated as desired.Sibling of wetin? lol, my brother-in-Christ you will always be. Hopefully I get to make your acquaintance live in person before we cross to the other side of redemption. You are truly something! lol. And oh, I know the price of fish has never changed in your strong head toba:Korrect guy. God will bless and increase all that you put your hands to do, including that real estate gig of yours. When I come to Lagos on an extended visit na you go find correct apartment for me. |
bawomolo:Kai! let your liberal affirmative action friends come and catch you. |
nuclearboy:Lol. I heard that brother. I know that's true a good portion of the time. And you I think are particularly skilled in that dispensation we all have our gifts abi? ![]() |
Bawo, Im waiting. If the banks dont amend their accounting records withiin the next 12months then I will believe. It is their tradition to first issue false and bogus records. . . and then follow that up with amendments. You know this my brother!
Not only banks self. Media outlets run a hot untrue story then later retract and issue an 'apology' after the damage has been done. It's all a game. This whole life is a game.JeSoul,Lol. I'm trying to be positive jare. Though better judgement tells me that it will be in vain. But my new motto is, if I can't win, then at least imma have a some fun! ![]() |
aletheia:Aletheia how body? ![]() I like the above, and is sort of where I was heading with Rhino. His beliefs on things "impossible" in the present and future have changed based on a singular experience (or should we now say "prior evidence"?). He will subsequently approach such matters with a different mindset. This is not altogether different from the christian I would submit. |
NuclearSir, would it sound like a contradiction if I said I agree 100% with you? I just think there a difference (sometimes subtle) between insulting and rebuking. |
Toba meet me over on the "Complaint thread". |
Toba let me share with you this. I have been insulted on several occasions in here, but just tell them Godbless and move on. Lemme tell you that 99% of the time, they usually come back and apologize of their own volition. This is much more powerful than insulting them back. I only tell you this because you're my christian brother. If it were an atheist who doesn't follow the bible then wetin concern me? But I love to see christians do as Christ taught us to do. Now does this mean we the Mods will let people to constantly insult you at every instance? big big NO. Its just that sometimes, its better to simply walk away ehn. Toba my friend |
bawomolo:This one that just showed up ![]() all we want is our free healthcare (we would cut the defense bill by half to pay for itLol . . . see? the crazy twin brother is here. No such thing as free jor. Wake up dude ![]() Nah but seriously . . . I'm all for cutting our national coat in all the various arms of government. I believe there are savings to be had from every area - I think "defense spending" is falsely targeted by the "anti-war" folks as some kind of deadly black hole sucking up the entire budget - when in fact this is not true. I am willing to see a reduction in defense spending (along with other arms of govt) as long as it doesn't come at a cost of national security, at the cost of coming in 2nd in technological advancements. If China is armed with the latest Samsung 60inch 1080p flatscreen, I don't want the US stuck with 36inch belly tv that barely survived the digital switch-over - all in the name of "cutting defense spending". This is America, we must shoot for 1st place in weaponry, sad to say, but we live in a sick world and must stay ahead of the curve. As for DADT, they can go ahead and scrap it. Gays already marry, get federal benefits etc . . . why don't we get something out of them too by letting them serve in peace? Endagered species? I'll tell you what's endangered - black men & women in high places of success. I don't care for some polar bear somewhere if the 2yr old in the ghetto has not had dinner. on a serious note, if you conservatives are willing to cut the deficit then you must reduce defense spending like they doing over in the UK. no more fancy warplanes that cost millions of dollars. There are croonies in every belief or ideological system. No be today jor . . . for every far-right 'nut', I'm willing to bet there are 2 far-left nuttier ![]() i'm all for gun rights by the way.Well you live in Chicago, mecca of gangs, who wouldn't be for guns over there? ![]() |
LMAO! JeSoul, I suspect someone used your login to write this response. . . I don't believe this came from you.
Lol why? That's why I'm an Independent now . Republicans to comp-wetin? . . . with what kind of spirit and intentions did you sayLOL I know oh Negro, I'm just waxing poetic political idealism. What I meant by "the right spirit and intentions" is this - as a kid you don't always like what your parents tell you to do, when you get a little older you come to understand that everything they do, they do out of love for you. Sometimes you'll disagree with the letter of their position, but you always know they do what they do with the right spirit and intentions. Now I know this is a far stretch, but that's what I mean. If leadership and followership can so reach even a remote place of mutual respect and trust, even though we disagree on which direction to take (ex. bail-out or no bail-out), we know and can be at peace in the fact they believe they are working for your own good. I know all this ^ is virtually unrealistic pipe-dreams, but, what a dream huh? lol |
Toba take it easy brother. I know the attitudes and behaviors of a good portion of the posters in here, and I know Rhino is not typically a trouble-maker hence just a caution to him. If it were a constant nuisance (they know themselves) I would delete or recommend for ban right away. Part of maintaining law & order is knowing when to bring the hammer down and when to show restraint Toba. We are the christians, and we must hold ourselves to a much higher standard than those around us. Hence I encourage you to look the other way, turn the other cheek sometimes when you're insulted. It will do far greater good than to reply in kind. Let this end with my post. If you (or Rhino) have any other comments please forward to the "Complaint thread" and let Babaearly's thread continue in peace. |
My bad how can i miss this. It makes me understand that simply because i dont believe in something doesnt mean its not real and my free will and ability to make good or bad decision, selection will definately speak against me if am caught up in this line. Spritually
Interesting. I like a lot. In prodding you some more . . . have you come to any kind of determination on how you will make these 'decisions' from here on? I mean how will you go about sifting wheat from chaff, what to believe or not as plausible or not? And the tail-end of your quote "selection will definately speak against me if am caught up in this line", once again, please care to explain a bit more? . . . But scientifically i still cant figure out how an aerodynamic object of that size can be self propell and what if there is an alien threat? Are those objects manned or they are some mini drones or intellignt ariel vehicles? What if they are secret spy planes or objects or black magic, voodoo, witch craft? Thise questions keep on popping in on my mind daily. . .All valid questions I think. And I also think beyond getting solid answers to them, more important is to ask those questions in the first place. |

e36991, how body my brother? longest of long times. You have been missed oh |

It does look interesting. But equally odd. For a story highlighting typical african youth, why do their backgrounds have to be so stereotypical? aids orphan, child soldier, soccer kid, sex worker etc . . . if it was truly diversity they were going for I think they went the wrong direction. While we do have those problems, the backgrounds of african youth are yet so much more diverse - in a positive sense - than that. It's evidence of trying too hard. Anyways, lemme not judge until I've seen the film. |
Kobikwelu and Ijawgirl, you guys missed some key developments. Please see the link below: https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-262653.2176.html#msg6881302 JeSoul: |
montelik:True, however I doubt Obama will threaten to use it much. If he loses House and Senate, he will be at the Republican's mercy and not in a position to call the shots. Its very likely that a lot patience is going to have to shown by certain elements of this wave election cycle.Haha, omo, patience is something this country does not have at all lol. I can already see people like Boehner and Pence being put in difficult situations when they realize they still have a very liberal and not yet willing to move to the center Obama in d white house (unlike Clinton in 94) and then they have make compromises that may annoy some of d supporters who put them back in charge. Its funny and it bewilders me a bit - the left/farleft are constantly accusing Obama of not going far enough - with healthcare, banks, DADT etc . . . whereas the right believes he has gone much too far - suing Arizona, HC, bailout. Are we all simply confused? lol. I would like Republicans to make some compromises if they get into power. I may not be happy with the letter of the change, but I will be thrilled if its done with the right spirit and intentions. The country must be made to understand that we need both sides to co-operate if we're going to get out of this mess. Obama promised to bring both sides together, he has failed woefully as we have never seen such sharp division as we're seeing under his tenure. |
montelik:Haha. Clever. I thought he was going to rearrange it to say "Americans" lol. Opportunists taking advantage of mutual concessions from both sides is to expected I guess. But I don't think it is a strong enough reason to be a total deterrent against trying in the first place . I'm willing to concede and even support many reasonable liberal policies . . . oh wait . . . 'Liberal' and 'reasonable' in the same sentence? an oxymoron if I ever saw one . . . I kid I kid oh liberal folks before you come and fight me. I voted for the decriminalization of pot in MA few yrs ago and our vote won. I personally have some really cool liberal friends and I think there is a good side to liberalism. Its unfortunate it seems to be the crazy twin brother that's running the show these days. |
^^ we'll find out for sure very very soon. I think Republicans should look forward to a possible victory with solemnity. It is going to be extremely difficult to steer the country in a positive direction - not just economically, but politically, socially and especially in terms of how the people perceive their government, cos right now, we don't trust them one bit. And I don't think having republicans in power will necessarily shift the trust-level positively. |
Common now Liberals, why are you people insulting this poor fella with words like bomboclaat, hillbilly, redneck? lol. No seriously, I think this is part of the problem. We expect that if a candidate has a D or R following their name they must and always vote a certain way. I am guilty of this too as evidenced by the OP. This rigid expectation of thinking solely within party limits we have I daresay is the main problem why Congress cannot work together and reach common ground. There has to be some give-and-take from both sides. And not crucifixion from the native party on the soul who dares to venture to 'enemy' territory. ^^Idealism I know. But hey, a person can dream jor. |
Kay 17:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keyser_S%C3%B6ze Keyser Söze (pronounced /ˈkaɪzər ˈsoʊzeɪ/ KYE-zər SOH-zay) is a fictional character in the 1995 film The Usual Suspects, written by Christopher McQuarrie and directed by Bryan Singer. Söze is an underworld kingpin whose ruthlessness and influence have acquired a legendary, and even mythical, status among law enforcement agents and criminals alike. |
Rhino have you seen the movie "Book Of Eli"? May I strongly recommend you give it a watch if you'd like to gain some measure of understanding of what faith is (to many people at least) and about why people who choose have faith. Also check out this thread: A Treatise On Faith And The Word Of Faith https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-381608.0.html |
Zikkyy:
I second you guys fully. On the flip side, isn't it funny, in the US (and I'm sure in the UK too) "missionaries" are constantly in churches raising funds to send the gospel to Africa. They come armed with video clips of under-nourished black children and awe-inspiring statistics of poverty in 'developing countries'. The West wants to send the gospel to Africa, Africa wants to send the gospel to the West. One has to just stop wonder . . . |
