SportsRe: NFL 11-12 Season Is Here: Where Are All The NFL Fans? by JeSoul(op): 3:32pm On Jan 04, 2010
Kai! we have been dealt a harsh blow, the NFL's most dynamic receiver is done for the season cry Welker why now? Edelman has huge shoes to fill.

biina:
and then there were 12!

AFC
#1 Colts
#2 Chargers
#3 Pats v #6 Ravens (Sunday, January 10)
#4 Bengals V #5 Jets (Saturday, January 9)

NFC
#1 Saints
#2 Vikings
#3 Cowboys v #6 Eagles (Sunday, January 10)
#4 Cardinals V #5 Packers (Saturday, January 9)

Definitely some interesting Wk17 rematches. Lets see if Cardinal, Bengals and Eagles were just playing dead.
I feel sorry for Houston, on the verge of making the postseason for the first time and they get no love grin

The Eagles and the Cards suffer from the same bi-polar disease. They have been shifty all season long so no suprise at the no-show yesterday. What we'll get next week is anybody's guess, including they themselves.

The Saints should be very worried, as well as the Colts. Stumbling and crawling to the finish line never did anyone good.
TV/MoviesRe: Interesting New Or Upcoming Movies? by JeSoul(f): 3:24pm On Jan 04, 2010
Kinkinatus:
Other big movies to watch out for in 2010 are:

A-Team - harder movie and more explosions than the old TV series,

Robin Hood (with Russell Crowe) and yes it is another Hollywood remake,

Clash of the Titans (looking very good for this movie with Sam Worthington from Avatar),

Iron Man 2 - Most definitely worth seeing. Robert Downey Jr again (look out for War Machine, and villains - Whiplash and Black Widow),

Legion - (Supernatural thriller – Man against God, as God decides to end human existence),

Kick backside – another Superhero movie that could be quite good,

Shrek 4 (Forever After) – Shrek is a wanted man, he is on the run, and is being sought by ogre hunting witches.

Toy Story 3 – The toys are leaving home after being abandoned by their owner who is now all grown up and left college,

Shutter Island – Martin Scorsese working again with Leonardo DiCaprio in a detective thriller chiller set on an Island mental hospital,

Wolfman (bad behind Horror movie, a must see for me),

Lovely Bones, (already mentioned in this thread),

The Expendables – Should be interesting (All the 80's and 90's macho actors - Sly Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis, Dolph Lundgreen, Jet Li, Jason Statham, etc as mercenaries going to take down a South American Warlord, serious gorefest and body count to expect).

Date Night – Romance comedy with Tina Fey & Steve Carrell featuring big names Ray Liotta & Mark Wahlberg.

Prince of Persia – Sands Of Tme produced by Disney Studios, Love story type with lots of magic effects and a bald scheming Grand Vizier LOL

Twilight Saga – Eclipse (War between vampires & Werewolves with the love interest human girl caught in the middle),

Green Zone – With Matt Damon and Bourne Identity Director Paul Greengrass (a must see for me) back to Iraq searching for WMD, nice stunt moves and serious action sequences,

Sex and the City 2 – Looking good for all the babes with fabulous clothes, shoes, bags and accessories for 2010 summer,

Up in the Air – George Cloony – Comedy about corporate hire and fire and downsizer guru falling in love with girl of his dreams,

The Princess and the Frog – Disney cartoon classic love story with first ever black heroine (hmmm, finally),

The Road – Father and son looking for refuge in post apocalypse USA and trying to avoid mad killers and cannibals,

Inception – Leonardo Di Caprio – A man who can predict crime becomes involved in a yet to happen/about to happen murder,

Book of Eli – My man Denzel Washington in another post apocalypse USA movie and Denz is trying to keep safe this item which could lead to the salvation of mankind. Offs a lot of bad people,

Obermind – Animated movie following in the tradition of the Incredibles, but very different theme and story about a super Villain who whips the hero bad bad,

The Green Hornet – Superhero movie – millionaire by day, crimefighter by night, should be a familiar theme but good.

Salt – Angelina Jolie – On the run as a CIA agent after being falsely accused of being a double agent and wanted dead or alive by different organisations,

Tron Legacy – Sci-fi CGI movie, should be as good if not better than the original Tron movie
Jonah Hex – Anti-hero, scarred hard man role for John Malkovich (Gunfighter from the US civil war Era battling demons and supernaturals) I want to see this.
The Losers – Abandoned group of mercenaries left for dead by their government planning big time payback,
Harry Potter & The Death Hallows Pt 1 – last but one of the Harry Potter series – Harry, Ron & Hermione leave Hogwarts Wizard school to go searching for some potent magical artifacts – Could be very good, Potter movies keep getting bigger and darker and better. Have fun,
shocked grin see list beyond list. Kinky I saluate!
I'm very much interested in the bolded ones. I saw the Robin Hood trailer . . . I dunno about Crowe filling this role, too reminiscent of Gladiator. Shrek 4 may prove redemptive, we'll see.

And some people should not be allowed to watch movies. How can anyone talk smack on Avatar? seriously? did you watch the real Avatar or the nollywood version? grin oya let us review it.

I agree with the current practice. Considering the size of the congregation, you will need to triple the tithe & other takings to serve a full meal sad sad
or instead of increasing the collection of money, how about churches manage what they have more efficiently?

Perhaps churches were never meant to be so "big" and "mega" that the intimate fellowshipping and sharing of communion as we see in the early church would become impossible for us to follow in?

I know we cannot replicate every practice we read about in the NT in these modern times, but still, I think this is one issue that we should re-think the current modification we've shrunk it down to.

Joagbaje:
So to answer you question the Pastors are the ones that presides over the tithes in church . The reason is because of the anointing on them to confer blessing.
Thesame way men gave offerings through the priests but now the pastor functions as the priest over our givings.
The  gifts and monies that were sentto Paul were recieved by him  as burnt offerings because the pastor is the high priest deputy or representative on the earth.
The above just makes me want to cry and laugh at the same time. And at the same time I am angry that this gross falsehood, lie and doctrine of the devil has taken deep roots in so many souls and continues to grow and increase their stronghold of ignorance on the people.

"The pastor is the high priest and deputy and highest representative on earth"

What is this rubbish? it would be funny, if it weren't so sad and infuriating. No wonder the nigerian masses continue to be enslaved by their pastors. Sad, just too sad.

Infact I cannot stress enough how important this point you made is. That is a huge angle to the story that I was hoping people would pick up on. They didn't go about crying and blaming God for giving them a deformed baby, or run from church to church seeking miracles, they were simply content. How incredible is that?

Another interesting observation is that not that many church gatherings share this eucharistic meal. And those that do give you a sip of wine and a tiny wafer at most.

Yet we know that it was a full meal when Christ instituted it and the early church practiced it. Are the pastor afraid of the cost of wining and dining their entire congregations. I can bet if they were actually practicing the proper eucharistic meal they wouldn't be so keen for so many converts. That will just be shortening their ration.
Pliny to Emperor Trajan about the christians he encountered in the 2nd century.

Now all this ties in very neatly with the whole idea of tithes. Because that too is a feast that is shared in order to worship God. Those who have are supposed to provide for those that do not have, the widows, the orphans, and the levites who do not have an inheritance amongst the people. In fact we find that sharing a meal is a common form of worship in all traditional religions around the world. Why is it that it is only in these new fangled churches that people do not eat? Why? And they are paying tithes, but nobody is eating inside the tithe. The pastor is just using it to buy expensive suits. What a farce!
My dude was talking to me about this very point few days ago. You're 100% right and I wonder how "communion" shrunk from its original form into what we have today. The early Catholic church?

- Sad to see any marriage collapse . . . most especially one that has lasted 23yrs . . .

- The question is how did Abraham, Isaac, Moses and co succeed in keeping their marriages intact . . . after so long. . . why are we present day people messing it up so much.
Even then, they had major issues . . . Abraham screwed up by caving in to pressure from Sarah and slept with his servant when he shoulda known better. And we've all been punished with Ishmael's descendants till today in the middle east.

Isaac. How can a father pick favorites? thereby leading to family infighting, his wife with one son pitched against him with the other? and the intense hatred and dysfunction that resulted?

As for Moses, well, we all know what a temper he had, and it cost him a huge price, not stepping foot in the promised land.

truth is we're all human and subject to human errors and failure. It is only by the grace of God and intense hard work any marriage today stays intact and does not fall victim to cheating or dysfunction or implosion.

SHARING SPIRITUAL NERVE ENDINGS
by Brian Jones

In his book Courageous Leadership, Bill Hybels shares a powerful story about the way people in a healthy-functioning church rally around each other in times of pain. I had just finished presenting my weekend message at Willow and I was . . . talking to people. A young married couple approached me, placed a blanketed bundle in my arms, and asked me to pray for their baby.

As I asked what the baby's name was, the mother pulled back the blanket that had covered the infant's face. I felt my knees begin to buckle. I thought I was going to faint. Had the father not steadied me I may well have keeled over. In my arms was the most horribly deformed baby I had ever seen. The whole center of her tiny face was caved in. How she kept breathing I will never know.

All I could say was, "Oh my . . . oh my . . . oh my."

"Her name is Emily," said the mother. "We've been told she has about six weeks to live," added the father. "We would like you to pray that before she dies she will know and feel our love." Barely able to mouth the words, I whispered, "Let's pray." Together we prayed for Emily. Oh, did we pray. As I handed her back to her parents I asked, "Is there anything we can do for you, any way that we as a church can serve you during this time?"

The father responded with words that still amaze me. He said, "Bill, we're okay. Really we are. We've been in a loving small group for years. Our group members knew that this pregnancy had complications. They were at our house the night we learned the news, and they were at our hospital when Emily was delivered. They helped us absorb the reality of the whole thing. They even cleaned our house and fixed our meals when we brought her home. They pray for us constantly and call us several times every day. They are even helping us plan Emily's funeral." Just then three other couples stepped forward and surrounded Emily and her parents. "We always attend church together as a group," said one of the group members.

It was a picture I will carry to the grave, a tight-knit huddle of loving brothers and sisters doing their best to soften one of the cruelest blows life can throw. After a group prayer, they all walked up the side aisle toward our lobby. Where, I wondered as they left, would that family be, where would they go, how would they handle this heartbreak, without the church?(p. 22-23) Tucked in the middle of a discussion about the nature of the church, the apostle Paul compared the church to a human body: "If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it" (1 Corinthians 12:26).

Paul clearly points out that when we as followers of Jesus become spiritually intimate with one another, it is as if our souls grow together and we begin to share spiritual nerve endings. If something happens to you, I can't help but by affected it. We are connected soul to soul. In the same way a twisted ankle affects every other part of a human body, the hurt a church member feels touches everyone else in that community. In a healthy-functioning community of Jesus followers, people are deeply connected to one another, and when something happens, good or bad, the instinctive response is to rally around one another.

Does this happen in your church?

Copyright ©2009 Brian Jones

This story touches so many angles from our relationship with each other, to why we pray even when sometimes those prayers are not answered.

Many wonder why God doesn't intervene in such circumstances, I pray that the eyes of their hearts be opened to see that in this case, God did intervene, through his prefered method, by using people in great times of need to be there for their neighbor, to bear their burdens and to be their strength when they are weak and to serve those around them.

There are few things more harmful than someone who refuses to admit his errors and learn from it. Here are a notable few from this season:

1. Bill Polian and his philosophy of resting players before the playoffs. It has never worked in the past, and there nothing to suggest it will this season. He denied his team what was possibly their only accolade this season, as they will likely fail to win the Superbowl. The players worked for 14-0, Polian and Caldwell simply threw it away. The stubborn old man is simply set in his ways.

2. Adrian Peterson is one of the best RBs in the game, but also one of the worst at fumbling the ball. He has failed to admit that he has a problem (claiming he dropped balls when defenders gang tackled him and stripped it shocked). Until he admits his error, he will continue to cost his team games, just like he did again against Chicago.

3. Bill Belichick is a brilliant mind, but like most of his kind, has ego problems, and finds it difficult to admit it when he is wrong. This has fueled is blind obsession with going for it on 4th downs, a move that has cost his team two games this season and has left his team with a cross country tour if the are to get into the Superbowl. Not looking good, given that they havent been impressive on the road this season.

4. Steelers amd their superbowl hangover woes. In 2005, when the Steelers won the Superbowl, the failed to qualify for the playoffs the next season. They are about to repeat it again. Despite Tomlin's promise of hell, losing teams like Oakland found it almost heavenly to play against the Steelers.

5. Last season the Broncos suffered a late season collapse to miss the playoffs, going from 8-5 to 8-8, which led to the firing of Shanahan. In comes a new coach in McDaniels and they start 6-0, but guess what? they are 8-7 (losing 7 of their last 9) and are likely to miss out on the playoffs yet again.
Kai! see analysis grin you cease to impress Binna, never cease.

Its funny, when Peterson fumbled the ball in OT vs Chicago that eventually cost them the game, after the fumble he was on the sidelines screaming and yelling about something or at someone. I was a bit confused. There was no doubt it was his mistake yet he didn't seem to acknowledge it or hang his head in shame.

L. Maroney is another guilty party. He fumbled again on the 1-yd line on the very first drive of the game vs JAX. I hope he is not brought back next year as I think he's been a dissappointment since his arrival. We can do better than him. As for Bill going for it, I don't think he's done it more this year than others has he? the difference is that the Pats are not getting it consistently which is what is making it more glaring this year. But no doubt, he shoulda kicked a field goal a several occasions and we woulda won the game.

As for the Steelers, SB hangovers happen to practically every defending champ, abi not so?
