Chrisbenogor:hehe submit your application once you obtain that qualification My sentiments exactly, you ever heard of the great prayer experiment? No I haven't. Please, enlighten me. |
No2Atheism:Thank you jare. Name recognition is what people know, not to say Harvard n co are not top notch schools but they are not light years away from other institutions as many people think. UMass na party school sha However what happened to Gates is not a one off and it has been reported to occur within the academic evironment by black academicians (i.e. people who at least are not supposed to be doing drugs and crack cocaine). Hence the truth is that their is racial profiling.Hmm . . . I do actually support racial profiling to an extent. So far in our recent history, Black/Asian people don't blow up planes - middle easterners do. The Airport security would be doing exactly right to keep an eye out for middle eastern passengers over the single mom juggling 3 kids and their luggage. It may sound wrong but it is logical. The same way cops can stop a car full of black thugged out youngins vs an older white couple - which set is more likely to be up to no good? Racial profiling sucks, especially when you're the one being profiled. But the way I see it, it is a necessary evil. I know u r going to defend ur future white husbandHehe see this boy, leave me and my "white" bobo alone jare but on a serious note, the bottom line is that racism still exists even though there should be non, and it becomes the more annoying when it occurs amongst the so called white liberals. To me white liberal generally stands for hypocrit. If blacks do not start treating an insult to one as an insult to all, i can assure you that whites would continue to pick on disadvantage whites. You're right in that racism should not be ignored, silenced & go unchecked. My problem is that black people seem to cry racism at almost everything. So when a legitimate case of discrimication comes up it doesn't get the real attention and anger it deserves because the card has been played one too many times. |
ThiefOfHearts:Naturally we all jump to support our different races so I'm not suprised. Most of the people I know blame Gates and not the Cop. I say they both deserve equal blame. and Im not even basing this on the site, these are things Ive known about the place for a very long time especially in regards to their police force. By both whites and blacks there. Quite a number have stated if this could happen in "The people's republic of Cambridge" (supposed to be hella liberal) then people in other parts are doomed.Lol got that right. I cannot stand Cambridgers. Infact I can tell you the west of Boston people are not so liberal and have a certain measure of disdain towards them. |
punishment hehe I knew I shoulda kept my mouth shut ![]() Once in a while you need that pointless, low budget, poorly put together attempt at comedy of a movie to remind you the world of movies is not all glitter ![]() |
Chrisbenogor:hehe na real miss I was scrolling thru old topics and stumbled upon yours and figured since you've been resurrecting topics all over the joint, someone should raise yours too since as I see it didn't get much justice done to it.I just wonder the rationale behind the whole kini jo, like someone said ifYou know I was thinking of this exact same thing while pondering another matter recently. The fact is many of us can put our total trust in praying to God because we have seen God do things we thought were impossible. Situations have dramatically turned around and doors opened that had seemed immovable. Now does God always answer prayer? No. Infact I am finding that out each day I pray for something and still don't see it happen 2.5 years and counting now. But does it stop me from still praying? no. Because I know whether or not God chooses to grant a request He does so for my own benefit, for my own good. Now I understand from the secular point of view you see it as impossible to tell if God "answered" the prayer or not. But from our perspective regardless of what happens,"whether we live or die, it is in God's hands" and that's what's really important. The peace and confidence in leaving it all in His hands and for His glory and His will. |

bawomolo:hehe ![]() TOH, ah ah Boston is not all like that now I have met and lived among and are friends with some fantastic white folks who have helped me dispel my pre-existing aversion towards "white people". I love this city to death in spite of the racial problems we have from both sides.- I was struggling with luggage once, a bunch of africans (liberians or kenyans I think) were sitting in the parking lot talking and watching me. A white Irish postman parked his truck and walked up to me and asked if he could help. - My car battery died on me once, guess who parked next to me and stayed 30+mins until I got it started up? an Irish/italian police officer. They have dug my car out of the snow, given me free oil changes, carried my groceries, held the door open etc For every instance of racism I've experienced, I've also experienced good from them. Not all or even the majority of Bostonians are racists. |
Resurrected! just returning the favor you've been doing othersSince atheists don't believe prayers work/make a difference, why does it bother you when others do it? |
bawomolo: here lets try that again: "Teams like your Bulls, Toronto, Washington and the Clippers have had "futures" for a while, we haven't seen the fruits yet. I'll take a championship today over an uncertain 'future' anyday"*now awaiting the promised "fruits" ![]() okafor may be underachieving but did anyone think he was going to be a 20 10 player? Dwight howard has the bigger potential in that draft. Okafor provides consistency and defense like marcus camby.Which I guess is better than the recent uncertainty surrounding Chandler. But still issa weird move. |
noetic2:My dear Noetic, where does the bible permit us to "worship God in our own way" in church? don't you see what a slippery slope that is? If you're at home the story is different but God through Paul has given us guidelines to follow when in the fellowship of other believers - not to do it in 'our own way'. @Ibkaye, |
lol . . . even me se I no go lie say he get moves ![]() I hate to come off as super traditional, rigid and stuck up and holier than thou cos Lord knows I am the least. I'm just saying that in a church setting (very important the setting) things should be done with respect and humility and reverence for God and the people around you. His dancing is comical, drawing attention to himself and distracting (even though they appear to be enjoying the distraction) the fellow worshippers. To me (and perhaps to only me) this is inconsistent with what Paul spoke about on how a church should conduct its services. I hope this clarifies my point better and thanks to you to as well for being a cool sport |
There you go with the judge word again. The bible tells us christians to judge the actions of other christians to determine if indeed they are who they profess to be. 1 Cor5:12 "What business is it of mine to judge those outside the church? Are you not to judge those inside? God will judge those outside. Perhaps my choice of words was harsh but I still maintain that acting/dancing like that in a place or worship that the bible tells us we should be orderly and reverent is wrong and should be rebuked and the church not curbing it is highly suspect & indicative of leadership out of tune with the scriptures. ^^^Politically corrected version of my first post ![]() |
OLA & Jagoon, You fellas go easy with the love affair ![]() |
bawomolo:Abeg na future we go chop? Teams like your Bulls, Toronto, Washington etc have had "futures" for a while, we haven't seen the fruits yet. I'll take a championship today over an uncertain 'future' anyday.I don't know what the Hornets are doing. Okafor is not much of an improvement over Chandler. On the other hand I'm sure the Bobcats are happy to be rid of the under-acheving Okafor. |
Rebarobyn:It does not have to get heated my dear, a good debate/discussion is beneficial to all. I'm just trying to show you that saying "do not judge" is not right. 1 Cor5 tells us we should "judge" those who claim to be christians clearly and 1 Cor 6 yes talks about at the judgement but then says "how much more should we be able to judge things in this life" You are right in saying we should be careful to say who is or is not of God, you're absolutely right. However the same bible tells us to discern and test everything and yes to judge those who say they are christian to see if their actions match their profession - there has to be a balance between the two. I wouldn't go round pointing fingers and declaring someone right or not, but when an opportunity presents itself as with this thread I will speak as God permits. My whole point is this the church has degenerated to a state where things/actions are accepted, permitted, allowed and tolerated under the misused banner of "we don't know what's in his heart". |
One mistake a lot of people make is to say we cannot "judge" another man's heart by his actions, did you know the bible teaches the exact opposite of that? 1 Cor5:12 "What business is it of mine to judge those outside the church? Are you not to judge those inside? God will judge those outside. 1 Cor 6:2 "Do you not know that the saints will judge the world? And if you are to judge the world, are you not competent to judge trivial cases? Do you not know that we will judge angels? How much more the things of this life!" The "judge not" verse that people causally apply to almost every instance of a rebuke is not saying not to judge at all, but that you not judge another without making you yourself are not ready to be judged, having first judged yourself, and making sure you yourself are not wrong. I don't need to know what's in his heart, his actions speak loud and clear just like the bible teaches - by their fruit ye shall know them. If a man lives like a gentile but yet claim to be a christian do we say "we don't know his heart" when by his very lifestyle he proves his is not a christian? I remarked comparing this to what David did is very different because we are in a different time and under a different dispensation. Is anybody going to dispute here that anyone who goes to a church today and strips off their clothes and dances wildly is wrong? We have Paul's instructions on how to "do church" - and it tells us to be orderly and reverent. |
vescucci:lol . . . I should give you his number so you can impart this wisdom into him ![]() I was hoping you people would just stop talking about Legend of the seeker and it would become a legend (without the awe) and go away. I visited someone and it was on. Normally I don't really ever sleep (I hibernate) but man, I absolutely slept off. I asked later if it was PG 3.Yeah it looks like it has quite a following . . . I'm not sure why. Perhaps cos its the only "robin hood/xena" kinda series on tv now? Max, art thou ignoring me?Trouble in paradise? ![]() |
Jesoul Id like to know what exactly the issue is here, is it that the man is dancing like that in church, or he is giving offering, or he is dancing like that while giving offering?
My darling AKO, how have you been my brother? My issue is primarily with his dancing like that, and then with the church for allowing such comedy to continue without being rebuked. Church is not the place to come and show off your latest dancing skills, is that what offering time (I don't even like that term) has been reduced to? Drawing attention to yourself? instead of humility and reverence in the house of God and among the saints? not that you can't dance and rejoice but this is simply showing off and looking for attention. Maybe I am too "conservative", but I won't apologize for it. Jagoon:Not only that sef, the comedification, pimpification, reduction, modification, secularization, personalization and eventually transformation of christianity into a gospel that I don't recognize from the scriptures - this is what is characteristic of the pentecostal movement all over the world. |
Rebarobyn:You miss the point my dear. Its not about being conservative - if it were then David with his stark naked dancing would have been sinning. The issue here is the obviously flippant, casual and comical demonstration from the men in the video. You can dance & sing your heart out to God with total abandon and disregard for what others will think - but if you read Paul's directives in the NT about everything in a church - worship, singing, sermons - being done in order and with reverence. Those characteristics are distinctly missing in the above videos that looks more like a show and the people are being entertained. Call me conservative, but I don't believe anything involving the worshiping of God should be reduced to comedy or "how we feel/want to express ourselves" instead of how the bible commands. I mean can you seriously tell me that video does not induce a comical reaction? look no further than all the responses of this thread so far. But hey if you don't think there's anything wrong with those videos then it is by all means your perogative. |
Rebarobyn, If you or anyone else doesn't see anything wrong with the theatrics in those videos then nuthin I say is going to change it. I maintain it is foolishness, and comparing that to what David did is akin to comparing cars to oranges - completely & utterly different. |
Of course it is completely unreasonale but why don't you take the beef to her instead of us complete strangers in a public forum? She is your wife, if anybody can talk to her and convince her of the serious error of her ways, it is you. |
Vick reinstated to the NFL http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4359354 The best story I've heard all week. Other NFL players get arrested for gun possesion, shooting up the club, drunk driving, manslaughter, physical assault and even murder . . . but yet its the dude that killed a dog that went to jail for 2 years. Useless country. |
I know. I get the chance to return the favor when he starts going on about Serie A and Intermilan etc ![]() |

lol, you've mixed so many things in the above post I think you should just go 'head and focus on your school & work, when you have more disposable time, holla @your girl aight? We can continue this some other time. |
ThiefOfHearts:for real. He's pretty popular here as he's a boston native, but men I have to change the channel whenever he comes on ![]() You must watch Orphan this week/weekend o!I go try, convincing the significant other will not be easy ![]()
Right. Like you're capable of sleeping disorders from a horror movie. You eat the stuff for lunch. I liked Leary in the Thomas Crown Affair remake with Rene Russon and Brosnan. Not only have they turned the temple into a den of robbers, but also a house of clowns. This is not a true church, else they would not allow such foolishness to persist. |

C2H5OH, I am convinced once upon a time Lebron either stole your lunch money or your girlfriend ![]() |
TOH likes Orphan . . . hmmm I might go see it then. And if I experience any sleeping disorders after that it will not be funny oh ![]() Max, I stomached ~10mins of "Seeker" few months ago. I couldn't help but think it was the poor man's servant's version of whats that show with the ripped dude with animal skin for underwear, that speaks to animals/lion or something like that? and also 'Xena'. Those shows were lame . . . the seeker takes their 'lameness' to a whole nother level. Is there anyone here who'll confess to watching the series "Rescue me"? For some reason I am grossed out by Dennis Leary. |
Chrisbenogor:Indeed my brother, I blame myself too, I should've slowed down a bit and I falsely assumed there was a universal acceptance of what the "rapture" entails - I'm sure its consistent among christians, perhaps this problem arises because I'm in convo with a non-christian. Was your 'version' of the rapture by any chance influenced by the "Left Behind" series? ![]() Perhaps other christians can jump in and correct me if I'm wrong, but the Rapture as we know it is simply Jesus coming back and we vanishing to meet Him in the clouds and Him taking us away. The second part of your version is the tribulation, NOT the rapture. A popular christian apologetics website defines it as this: _____________________________________ Rapture The rapture is an eschatological (end times) event whereupon the return of Christ the true believers who are "alive and remain shall be caught up together with them [those who already died as Christians] in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, " (1 Thess. 4:17). This is the time of the resurrection where the Christian receives his resurrected body. First to receive their new bodies are those who have died as Christians, and then "those who are alive and remain." There is much debate over the time of the rapture. Does it occur at the beginning, in the middle, or at the end of the tribulation period? Tribulation, The According to premillennialism, this is a seven year period that immediately precedes the return of Christ and the millennial kingdom of His rule which lasts for 1000 years. It will be a time of great peace (the first 3 years) and great war (the second 3 years) when the Antichrist rules over many nations. At the midpoint of the tribulation (at the end of the first 3 years) the Antichrist will proclaim himself worthy of worship. Many will bow down and worship the Antichrist and many will refuse. Those who refuse to worship the Antichrist will be killed. The second half of the tribulation is called the Great Tribulation. It will involve the whole world (Rev. 3:10). There will be catastrophes all over the world. (See Matt. 24; Mark 13; Luke 17.) Now perhaps there is dispute as to the timing and chronology of these events but this dispute does not extend to whether or not they will occur - just simply when and in what order. |
