Humblesoul, don't waste ur cybertime with these self-annointed 'intellectuals'. Those of us who've been here long enuff have seen that they are mostly driven by hate and an insatiable desire to ridicule others and their religions. Most christians here don't even bother to read or reply their posts. There are however a few reasonable, honest, warm and down-to-earth atheists here on NL, its too bad they don't post more often. The few bads eggs are giving all of them a bad rep. |
bawomolo:and that is their perogative. In the end some of us will be right and some of us will be wrong. Right now no one prove their way is right so again its up to each individual to do their honest homework and be certain and cast their die wherever they please - someday we will all find out who was right. I do believe personally that anyone who deep down and genuinely looks for God will find Him. Many people in the Old testament did not have bibles or pastors or get the chance to know Jesus yet we are told they followed God and were righteous people. |
vescucci:Dude, I-Robot? you must be a big Will fan. |
Karma, I finished COG and it is a well done movie all round and I can see why it is has garnered so much acclaim. The story-telling is fantastic and there is not one dull moment - I thoroughly enjoyed it. One of my fav parts was when Rocket was "flirting with crime" it was cute, some people just don't have any bad in them. And the Max, I think you'd mentioned your deep love for Wall.E at some point I finally watched it and almost turned it off after the first 20 mins, it seemed like it was dragging, but I hung in there and I'm glad I did. It turned out to be pleasant and cute, though for me it is not top 20 material. By the wayside, robots are not supposed to have emotions right? lol I'm all for fantasy and fiction but for some reason it just disturbed me the whole time to see two metal heads romancing. But its still a nice watch. |
Quite. A year ago, this was the exact same concern I had about a fully-equipped Celtics team, playing a 7-Game 1st Rd series Vs pretty much the same group of guys Lebron & Co just blew out of the ballpark, and not amassing a single win on the road until the 9th try (good thing they had HOMECOURT). All these happened "for no aparent reason" until they took the title.
Again not quite. The Hawks were a strong athletic team and everyone and their grandma knows the Celtics struggled with athletic teams all season. Lebron and his squad present a very different and quite superior match-up against them hence the sweep. The Hawk have 50 players who play the same 'athletic' position, you cannot challenge a dynamic Cavs team with that. and the men in green were not down by as much as 29 pts on the road at any point. The Rockets are missing McGrady and Yao and Artest only gives them peanut pts and they blow the annointed nba champs out? highly suspect. I'm not saying the Lakers are still not the favorite Infact I expect them to blow out the rockets at home tonight. I'm saying the road to the finals will not be a paved highway road, they will have to get down and dirty in the gravel pits. |
are we expecting sweeps dis night?
No reason not to expect so tho atl looks like they finally showed up tonight
I'm currently in H-town and the excitement i see amongst the fans atimes borders on hubris. It's kind of funny cos I believe the Lakers are still gonna clinch this series in 6. With all the hoolabaloo about the Lakers drowsy performance so far, it is noteworthy that the Celtics similarly slept-walk their way to the title last year (averaging 6.5 games per series), while the Lakers breezed through theirs averaging 5's. LAKERS-CAVS FINALS BABY!!!
Not quite. Granted rds 1 & 2 went the 7 game distance but they were all competitive. It's just one game but everyone's getting on the lakers cos to play so poorly this far into the playoffs against a much more inferior team for no apparent reason looks bad from all angles. |
Doubters like myself did not give a "weak" Chicago team any chance yet they took us to 7. Anything can happen in the playoffs and Denver is playing great "team" basketball, the lakers are not. That is a fact that cannot be taken for granted. We have seen it time after time, having a more talented team does not grant automatic wins. Lakers are still the favs but Denver will not be a pushover at all as we've seen with Houston. |
I agree that the lakers will still win the series. I don't think Houston can keep this up. However the prevalent & premature thought that they were simply going to waltz into the NBA finals has sure been wiped from the minds of all of us. Moonstone, Gasoft only padded his points in the 4Q when the game was already beyond reach I never get the impression he's ready to take things into his own hands and be "the man" |
Moonstone:lol . . . Kobe had an off-night and in those cases the rest of the team should be able to step up. And is Phil Jackson so blind that he cannot see Fisher cannot guard or stay with Brooks? Farmar is by far the better option. And why does he allow luke Walton to even handle the ball? every other touch was a turnover, as for Ga-soft, I reserve my comments lol. The rest of the laker team keeps on defering to kobe to save them from everything, they forget they're also paid nba players. |
it would have been very pathetic if anyone had implied that celtics won the trophy because of the absence of bynum
You are def not the average laker fan cos that's all we hear about . . . "if Bynum had been playing lakers would have won" etc Bynum is young and undeveloped and untested. I don't doubt he will grow into a solid player but for brickheads to have insinuated his presence woulda swung the trophy in the laker direction was ludicrous and it is now apparent to all. A fact I am very much enjoying Anyways I expect the lakers to come out on fire esp since they're back home and try to get revenge. It may be a replay of game 2 when they came out blazing, Houston will have a tough time ensuring they're not blown out by 30pts wonder what howard was so pissed abt after the game, d12 i mean. . . .Yeah I know I was wondering too. I think they were trying to say the clock the had expired and the shot shouldn't count. Then the refs went back to review it and that was that. |
so becos of the surprises dis nite, its time to put a stamp disputed topics and scorn, abi today is ur day bynum has already proved his worth during the season when he was healthy
No it is not based on today. Bynum is averaging so far after 8 games 5pts and 3 rebds. This woulda sure made a difference last yr I'm just saying those willing to spit on the Celtics trophy becos of an undeveloped untested Bynum should be eating their words and submitting their letters of apology. |
bawomolo:Christianity doesn't require or advocate in its bylaws the mental or intellectual ability to disprove the existence of other gods. Christianity is only concerned with and holds high above all else the firm, unwavering belief in the God of the bible. Faith! faith!! faith!!! this alone is proof and reason enough to me personally. The bible says Jesus is the way and I believe it, though I cannot prove it to you, I believe it by faith. No one can prove which god is authentic to another person. Discovery of God and truth is a personal journey, one on which each person must go alone. |
. . . and one more point. I hope we can now rest for all the Laker fans and Celtics haters that kept saying if they had Andrew Bynum they woulda won last yr . . . I laugh with scorn and pride These playoffs Andrew Bynum is averaging: 5pts, 3 Rbs and 1 TO . . . yeah that sure woulda made a championship-changing difference last finals ![]() |
Can you all say Big Baby Davis is tha mayne I second ^^ who woulda thot Davis would be hitting a game-winner? Orlando is not as good as we all like to believe, they should be having a weakened KG-less, Powe-less Celtics team for breakfast and dinner.
I got to doff ma hat for the Celts though i have understimated the power of a Champion and they really have played with heart despite the injuries and all which would have made it easy for them to make excuses I think Big Baby should be given a new contract i didn't know he was this good that was fantastic clutch-play from him
Bigbaby is a vital part of the core of the young Celtics who will take over in the near future. They would be stupid not to retain him. And as for the Lakers-Rockets bawomolo:I have been saying Gasol, Odom and co will fade into obscurity as is their tradition at crunch times. That was embarrasing for a supposed Championship-bound team. Wide open shots, no hussle, no rebounding, no effort and worst of all, no heart or passion. What a beatdown! They expected Houston to roll over and take it instead of coming out guns blazing. I am happy for Brooks and co . . . they showed one doesn't have to superstar to shine. All the pressure is on the Lakers now. |
Looks like Artest did not have breakfast or lunch, I doubt he is seeing the rim the way he is missing shots ![]() |
Moonstone:This is my kinda gurl! Congrats my sista on the graduation, you shall subsequently be joining us 9-5ers hope u don't have too many student loans waiting lol.As for this game. I'm so tired of the game that I'm rooting for the hot dog vendors. The game is just so sloppy that it's just pathetic to watch.ROTFLOL . . . the 3pt shooting by the Lakers is the main difference in this game. Rockets should not despair, aside from a bunch of missed jumpers this game could easily be in their favor. |
. . . these Rockets are impressing me. They def for real. If they continue with the stifling defense, minimize the to's and force Kobe into jump shots they will win this game. Gasol and co will fade in crunch time as is their usual tradition. |
@Jesoul and Chiogo Happy birthday to y'all and i would appreciate my e-cake.Thanks
Gracias hombre the e-cake, e-wine, e-jollof and e-chicken ala moonstone style will be here come the date of the e-party ![]() |

I missed the game so I can't offer any explanation as to the scoreline but no diggity, we shall be back for the spilt in game 4.chiogo: congrats girl May 13th? funny, mine is a day after you |
The NBA made the right decisions in suspending Fisher and Alston. Kobe's play was rough but I don't think it was deserving of a suspension, maybe a fine, but def not a suspension - this is the playoffs, rough plays and hard fouls happen. Every player has to watch what they do from here on as the refs will be calling the games tight. You can see the rest of the laker team are trying to be tough and physical . . . it is atimes laughable becos its not inherent in their character to be like that and it ends up looking forced and clumsy lol except of course the resident thug Odom. But anyways more power to them, it will make for a series full of drama. bawomolo:lol abeg lef am. Beauty they say is in the eyes of the beholder ![]() |
bawomolo:lol . . . wrong thread but I have to let this out: Manny tests positive for "something"! |
bawomolo:On most days. He wasn't playing "well" until Artest left and Battier couldn't handle him alone. Rondo won't be doing that crap if jameer nelson was healthy. Rondo only preys on defenseless guards. There is a reason his stats over 82 games are just AVERAGE. yes i'm hatingMake we hear word jare. Rondo has schooled almost every guard he has faced this yr including your Rosy boy. Nobody is going to avg a triple dip over 82 games . . . And btw, averaging 50% FG, 12pts, 8asts, 5 rbs & 2stl is anything but average Rose dreams he had a bottomline that good-looking ![]() carry on with the hating home boy, carry on ![]() |

Got it and replied. Thanks! |
Here's my email address: I'll leave it on here till you reply. |
wow what a game btw the Lakers and the Rockets The Lakers should now officially be worried about the Rockets cos they are for real. This game coulda gone to the Rockets barring Yao's fouls troubles and Artests ejection. The rest of the series is going to be very physical. Hope Artest can keep his cool cos I'd hate to see suspensions, he's a stellar match-up for Kobe and Battier also did a good job. Speaking of suspensions, the League must suspend Fisher for that football like take down on Scola and Rafer-I-can't-guard-Rondo-or-House-Alston should also be suspended. And as for those of little faith: Pierce scores 3 pts and we beat the magic by 20 . Rashad and Turk are chokers, soft does not begin to describe this Orlando team. You have a weakened Celtics team just off a draining 7-game series, short of their best player and best bench player and you cannot come in and give them no hope of winning? Orlando does not have what it takes and even if they win this series Cleveland will demolish them.as for the Rajon haters, here's the stat of the night: Rondo: 15 pts, 18 asts, 11 Rebs, 2 stls and 1 monster dunk on Howard and Lewis I almost fell off the couch when he did that. Chiogo your husband is tha man! |
pinky lady:MY sista, you belong to the Lord, so you're already my friend feel more than free to holla @ me anytime. Godbless!blacksta:You're welcome. Did you have any thots or comments or disagreements? If there's one thing that's for sure, it is that I don't know it all so any 'sharpening' would be great. Blessings bro. |
Hey Blacksta, I wrote this article on my blog a while back about "God's will" and thot I'd share in response to the topic sorry for the length. Hope u enjoy .What if God does NOT have a plan for your life? If you're anything like me, then you've wondered and pondered, sometimes struggled and wrestled with what "God's will is for your life". Many christians are living in a state of limbo, walking around under a self-induced spell that God will someday show up in grand fashion, whisk them away from their current 'secular' predicament otherwise known as a job, and bring to pass His great and awesome "will" for their lives. I used to be sort of like that- difference is I don't hate my "secular predicament". However, I have come to the realization that God's will is not some far off event in the future, not some soon-to-be occurrence, not some great or small thing that I will be assigned to do, not a position or an allocation of work or job, but that God's will is right here, right now, and that will is for me - and you- to live lives that glorify His name. God's will for us is to obey, love and serve Him. Could it really be this simple? I also realized that I had been trusting more in my ability to be spiritual enough to hear God, than in God's ability to lead me. Romans 12:2 Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will 1 Thessalonians 4:3 It is God's will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality 1 Thessalonians 5:18 give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus. 1 Peter 2:15 For it is God's will that by doing good you should silence the ignorant talk of foolish men. In all the above, God's will is a very present event, but even more importantly, this big word called "God's will" is already known. It is not something that is being furiously searched out, it is already recognized, or in the process of being "tested and approved". When we hear the word's "God's will" today we think of this grand thing God has planned for us to be or do. . . what if God just wants you to live a quiet, and relatively uneventful life? Only significantly impacting a small group of people around you? What if God does not have as grand a plan as you think all mapped out for you in the future? What if God does not have anything more than what you are (in a worldly sense) and where you are right now planned out in your future? what if where you are is where He wants you to be? what if this is really it? For you to be simple and unknown, unaccomplished by worldly standards, quietly serving and worshipping Him? This is not to say God's plans for us are not good, but oftentimes our definition of "good" is not the same as God's definition. Remember, as high as the heavens are above the earth, so far are our thoughts from His. What if He just wants a simple, plain, regular joes life for you? what if? What if His plan for you is to suffer for His name and His glory? not doing anything great or wonderful ever in your life? what if your dreams and goals are not what He wants? what if your vision and aspirations are not part of His plan? What if you're not destined for "greatness"? what if? The bible teaches us we're not promised tomorrow, it teaches us not to fret or worry about tomorrow. So how did we get to this place where we're looking into a spiritual crystal ball, in a futile attempt to "discover" God's future "plans" for us? And you know what the plain truth is, we spend so much time and energy trying to figure out "what God's will is", instead of just trusting God to lead us into His will as we serve Him today. You see the difference? The first part places the emphasis on us, on how deeply spiritual we are that we can hear God's voice, that we can attain some level of holiness that God's will will then suddenly become apparent in some kind of vision or revelation. The latter part places the emphasis on God, and how faithful He is in answering a genuine prayer seeking His direction. And as He directs and leads, we become aware He has led, and that we are already in His will and His name is glorified in that. Here the glory goes to God- alone, whereas in the former the glory goes to us, to how "spiritual" we are. Now please don't get me wrong, there's nuthin wrong with having goals and things you'd like to accomplish, there's nuthin wrong with wanting to live and walk the path God has for you, but we must keep things in perspective. As we're setting the dreams and goals, how much of it is God-centered? And how much of it is you-centered? How much of your dreams seek to glorify God vs. glorifying you? And you may very well have noble intentions with your dreams, to win souls and share Christ, but it doesn't always necessarily mean they are God's intentions for you. So let us not cajole ourselves into believing that just cos we have good motives it justifies the dream. David had good intentions to build a temple for God, but God did not want him to. And if David had persisted in that dream, it would have been an act of disobedience toward God. I can relate so much because I've been a position where I've simply been wondering, to the point its been robbing me of my present, what God's will is for me, for my future. When it is all just so simple: live your life today, in accordance to His word, giving the glory to His name, and without even breaking out the Christian books or running to the Christian conferences that promise to "unlock your destiny", you will already be in His will. We need to stop trusting so much in our spirituality, in our ability to discover what this high and lofty and all too often elusive "will of God" (as we've defined it) is. Instead pick up your bible, live according to God's precepts and ways, yield and submit to the direction of the Holy Spirit- this is God's will for you. Then you would have been living your life already in His will, instead of looking to the skies or self-proclaimed prophets for some supposedly foretold event that might never take place. |
Image123:my brotha apologies if it sounded like I was attacking you, my motive was far far away from that I think you misunderstood Obong. He wasn't talking about dbanj n co's music, I think he meant that older folks say not to listen to them but don't supply them with a christian alternative that is also hiphop/rap/contemporary etc. You have made your point clearer though in saying "I didn't mention hiphop or 'contemporary christian music' or slow or fast. What I said was spiritual songs" As long as the lyrics glorify God and edify man it is = to a "spiritual song". It's just that oftentimes christians have this perception in their mind of what "godly/christian music" should sound like when we are all different and praise God in different ways. So even if a christian does not like hiphop or gospel hiphop that is fine, as long as they don't presume to have some kind of self-proclaimed spiritual authority to say that gospel hiphop is evil and not of God. And fyi Don Moen is one of my all time favs ![]() |
bawomolo:The only bad thing I can say about the Cavs is that they haven't faced any true adversity this year, but still they way they are playing does not leave room for doubt that they will not be able to rise to the occasion. |
