Blessings to all the saints . . . Analytical, Kola, Gamine, Fifi, Daruche, dudu and everyone else I didn't mention. I hope you're all doing well in Christ. I leave you with this verse "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not upon your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths. I pray God's word will continue to shine upon our hearts and illuminate them until there is no more darkness, but only His pure light in us. Amen. Have a fantastic weekend folks! ![]() |
Well the "potent" cowboy offense usually offsets their "leaky" defense. As long as they can outscore their opponents, they won't need to tighten up the fences a whole lot. I just like to see Rodgers succeed after everything Bratt put him & the organization thru. And now to be battling injuries? not good for his very young career that looked very entertaining & promising after the first couple games. |
Week 7 Picks: Cincy @ Jets - I expect the bengals to show they have some pride and not go down 0-6 Mia @ Texans - wow Onyinye for your sake I hope your boys don't get to 0-5 Chi @ ATL - Should be an easy win for chi-town Bal @ Indy - I expect a close game, and Bal to pull off the win. The colts are not as good as their 2-2 record. Oak @ Saints - The saints should win this at home STL @ Washington - With the Redskins at home and on a roll, should be a W GB @ Sea - I feel bad for Rodgers, 3 straight losses. Hope they take this one Dal @ ARI - A-40's boys should win this easy Philly @ SF - McNabb should do well on the road vs the 49ers NE @ SD - I'D like to say the Pats will win, but the Bolts are a very talented team who just haven't played well this yr. But I can't pick against my team so Pats will win Not one clash really stands out as the game of the week. Butt I'll have my eyes on the Bengals, Colts and Redskins particularly. |
Dramatic things I'D like to see happen during the season:Well thats 2 things I can cross off my list . . . bawomolo:Too true and Pacman is a perfect example. This is why I believe its only a matter of time before Artest -the-ticking-time-bomb explodes in Houston. Men like these never change unless God himself does the changing. |
Now, the sum of what most of us have been saying are: 1. there is nothing wrong with Christians tithing or not tithing 2. to preach tithing in the NT needs to be properly balanced 3. failure to balance this subject will lead many to become bitter 4. such failure manifests where some leaders use Malachi 3 to ‘curse’ Christians 5. besides, tithing is not all about money 6. the real value of tithing is not “how much” but rather “what is” 7. this value simply points to the ‘best part’ of all our offerings 8. this is why tithes or any other offering is not a matter of how much % 9. there is no verse in the NT (at least IMHO) where anything is required 10. consequently, no compulsion, demand, or force is placed on us - whether it is gifts or offerings of any kind.
The summation of the matter very well put. I think we cann all agree on the above. Right Kunle? you're not saying stuff that is too different from the above in my opinion from reading your entries. |
Fifio, Honestly, do you two realise how much the rest of us (me at least!) are benefiting from these discussions?I thot I was the only one learning from behind the scenes .I think Pilgrim and Kunle are not too far from each other in what they believe. And I absolutely LOVE the way you've put it here, as this is also the conclusion I have on the matter FifiO:I could not agree MORE with all the above! Blessings my sista. |
manmustwac:You've been paying attention . My brotha my views are based on what we're taught marriage is about in the bible. Like Gamine so eloquently put it why would anyone head into a marriage and at the same time prepare for divorce? you're already setting yourself up to fail. Why would one consider keeping their "assets" more important than keeping their spouse? don't u see something very twisted with this logic? Like David said, Marriage is not a business investment that requires insurance. That's why people must shine their eyes and open their minds before they marry a person. No be small decision at all. If you're not sure you trust/love the person why marry them at all? Now if the people in question are not christians no biggie, they are free to live as they choose. However the minute they claim to be followers of Christ, we must live as Christ taught. And He taught that marriage is for life except for unfaithfulness. As for my friends . . . no one could be more disappointed in them than me BUT we all fall short n make mistakes and bad decisions and we'll each answer to God. |
doyin13:1 million and one amens to that! ![]() |
J-girl, its preseason, none of those wins or losses matter . Gabe, you should listen to the prophet A-40 and stop 'desecrating' the thread with Knicks pictures .A-40, don't you think you're being a little too generous there? Knicks win 30 games? I have them somewhere in the mid-low 20's ![]() bawomolo:hehe . . . true. It appears the bar is set extremely low in NY. |
and the Pre-Season is underway. Our first look will be Toronto vs Cleveland Washington vs Dallas Memphis vs Houston Sacramento vs Portland Utah L.A. vs Lakers |
Hey ya i missed the game there is just something about the Vikings i am not feeling so i can't sit down and watch their games. I saw the highlights and you guys didn't have any business losing that game
Not just the vikings . . . even the saints don't hold much appeal for me either. Didn't watch it, but rather enjoyed the RedSox send the best team in basebal - Angels - home . Now onto the AL Championship series. bawomolo:a disgrace to last for the ages after all that "this is our year" talk and "100yrs is destiny" etc . . . |
Gamine:oh okay, you scared me for a second . You have answered your post perfectly with the above. Any mature christian will hold to this view, as for the rest, well they're probably the ones contributing to the 50% divorce rate ![]() |
Gamine, why now? ![]() |
OlowoTee: Paul Washer is my favorite preacher of the word. God has really blessed him as one of the very very few voices in this generation that truly speak the unadulterated word of God. that sermon changed my life when I heard it almost 2yrs ago and I bless God for him. Everyone if u have a lil time please listen to that sermon, it will bless you incredibly! |
FifiO: of course not.My friend, the very fact that you have an opinion, or stand on this matter means that you have thought about what the scipture in question says, and what it doesn't say, came to a certain conclusion which reflects your believe, and have gone ahead to act or desist from acting, based on it. Shouldn't everyone do same?I don't dissaude christians from having opinions my sister. My point is that if everyone has an "opinion" on what that verse should "signify" it will be problematic. Whose opinion then is right? whose is wrong? when we could simply avoid these scenarios by simply taking what we've been given in the bible as the meaning, without necessarily seeking a need to expound on it. Make sense? If you note, I have shown how I direct my mind to recieve this doctrine. It would be a different thing if I said, why not yam and palm oil instead of bread & wine? that would be using my thinking to change/ colour the doctrine.lol . . . I hear you jare. And I do see where you're coming from, my only issue is leaving something as sacred as the communion "open to personal interpretation" is like walking on egg shells in a mine field. so, when we study God's word we are looking for insights, illumination, not just the letters of the words or religious forms.I absolutely agree! ![]() Hmn, I agree with you, that is not the purpose of taking communion nor is it expressly writen in the Bible. However, all I am saying is that communion time is a good time to recieve these blessings because while our minds are fixed on what He has done, the implications of the sacrifice, etc there is a great awareness, the kind that causes our faith to rise up within us to meet our challenges. At such a time (or,some other time with such awareness,as you may already have) you can actually say to that mountain,"move"Glad you see what I meant and I also get your point a little clearer. I'm not in perfect agreement but I can understand your position .@ All, this is how I am feeling today:Indeed He is! |

doyin13:of all the available sports Doyin why cricket? but issok, lets see evidence of your legendary status shall we? A living media star in our midst. You know, New England isn't sounding have been hosting about half a yr now. But the "media star" wasn't shining so bright when I embarrased myself on live tv few weeks ago I wasn't briefed 100% on booth lingo resulting in 30secs of weirdness . . . not my finest moment . But should Doyin decide to venture into Boston for vacation, I will be honored to be your tour guide really. |
Those Giants are looking very scary 44-6 I'll root for anybody, even our arch rivals Indy to win the SB over those evil giants.@onyinyeYou shoulda seen my jaw drop after I switched channels for only 1min and saw the lead evaporated I also told y'all to watch out for the Redskins because if they could beat the Cowboys they can beat anybody and they have proven that todayYeah u did say so. I guess Dallas should now be more scared of them ![]() But the biggest shock of the weekend for me was the Dolphins flooring another AFC Giant the Chargers i guess they don't suck so bad after allPerhaps its a little bit of both (SD sucking n Miami getting better). SD has complained about bad ref calls and now they had the chance to make a statement they fall on their behinds. The so-called AFC powers are super-wusses this yr. @JesoulNot an impressive win, but a good one. Cassel makes airheaded passes too often. Our team is not safe with him at the helm. And not seeing Ocho Cinco kiss our beloved star really made my weekendhehe were u scared he'd make good on his promise? ![]() |
@Jesoul Don't mind Ocho Clowno they are going down 0-5 after all is said and done a weak team that could not even beat the Browns na Cowboys them wan beat .How would they stop us with that porous defense?I see T.O making at least 8 catches and a TD Barber and Felix Jones should drop 3 TD between em The Steelers and Jags would still be pretty interesting though and the Steelers just might have a chance if they can protect their Quarter-Back
We shall be watchin for those . Cos Lord knows if your boys don't win, the nfl world will not let us hear word . |
ocho cinco:ocho thanks for the smiles n as for ur silky bengal fur . . . I'll oblige . . . as long as you catch a couple TD's against the cowboys this weekend millco88:Nah I don't mind. I host a local music/talk tv show out here in Boston. Are you into media as well? |
ROTFLOL, millco88, I hail you! you got nerve postin up a dolphins logo ![]() |
hehe A-40 what are you going to do about this? ocho cinco: |
Sistawoman, which one's ur nephew? So I can make even more fun of him? ![]() |
Gamine:eya I feel you jare. Issall good though. God will keep and hold you strong regardless. |
FifiO:My sista FifiO I'm glad all is well with you.My dear I do see the big picture and I'm not against us looking at the whole and appreciating the significance of our new freedom in Christ. I don't doubt we're overcomers n have victory, that's all good n trueBut my point is when taking communion, we are solely reflecting on Christ, His death, His sacrifice alone. The minute we incorporate our problems n issues into it, it diminishes the purpose and takes the focus off from that which it was intended - to simply reflect on Jesus' death! So when you say: So while I do solemnly remember Christ's suffering and death on the cross, and His resurrection importantly, I think it good sense to keep my mind not only on why He did it but what is the result of His action. I don't believe thats how Jesus wants us to remember all that He accomplished by His death and ressurection.and my sista that's my point, it is how YOU feel and how YOU think! there is no biblical justification for it. If we all had our different ideas and Thoughts on what things should mean in the bible, don't u see how that can create big trouble? that results in the adding and modifying of scripture, which is how the church gets into trouble with heresies (not that I'm accusing you of such, not at all).If we simply stuck to what we're given in 1Cor 11, we would all be fine and in right standing in God's sight. Instead of us treading the slippery slope of adding our own meanings and ideas to sacred acts of worship such as the holy communion. Nevertheless, I would like you to consider further what exactly Christ did. Ask yourself, why did Christ take away the sin,? think about what God said to Adam & Eve before sending them out of Eden and try to relate that to what Jesus wanted us to remember (keep our minds on). To my mind it was like " Remember that I have accomplished this, remember that you don't have to bear the result of the fall because I have borne it, " I don't disagree with the fact Christ died to save us from sin and make us right with God. That is the foremost reason He came, to save us. All I'm saying is that a person taking communion for the purpose of healing or material or financial blessing is not taught in the bible. I hear you really that we can look at what Christ did n deduce from that to say well he came to save us etc and bless us and all those good things, but I still look at 1Cor 11 and there I see the focus set solely on remembering Jesus' death, and nuthin else and to that I cannot add. After communion I can pray for anythin else I need but during the very act of breaking bread - all my mind is on, is just Jesus- finito! ![]() Thanks though for ur point of view, its been intresting to read. Godbless! |
Cincy's poor defense means we should be able to pick a win over Ocho Cinco and his troops they simply have not been good enough so far.Lets go Cowboys
you heard Ocho pretty much guaranteed a touchdown against ur bwoys? after which he would kiss the dallas star symbol as a sign of 'respect' for that "great organization" - Chad Johnson is a character! ![]() @JesoulI'm bored with the Steelers. It seems they get less exciting everytime I watch them play. They're a shadow of the team that won the SB few yrs ago. |
*sequence of events* Jesoul was scrolling down looking at the pictures then got electrocuted by seeing Greg Odens first picture! are we sure this dude is not at least 50yrs old? I demand to see his birth certificate. |
obinna5000:PRAISE GOD!!! We're glad your safe n well. ![]() Gamine:and that is the problem my sista. The minute we start adding our own meaning and understanding and significance of God's word (instead of just sticking to what we've been given in the bible) we start walking on dangerous ground. This is how heresies are started. Do you need to go to a new church? ![]() I was trying to ask about all the happenings on this religious sectionYou mean Seun? oh well it is no small secret where his sympathies lie. But issall good, the word of God still stands strong kampe! ![]() |
sistawoman:My dear sista it is well with you! I think I know how you feel as all week I'D been struggling to keep my faith steady and unflinching in God and His word and what helped me above all else was to worship. So put on a cd and sing, or watch some youtube worship videos and just let yourself bask in God's greatness n love and you'll find your heart renewed. All the weight and troubles will melt away as you fix ur eyes on Him. I've seen that while God hasn't "solved" all my issues n needs, He has put my heart at rest in His perfect peace and I believe He will do the same for you as you trust in Him. I give you Phil 4:6 which is a comfort to me anytime I'm worried 6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. May this be true of you today in Jesus name. And you can take comfort in the fact that everything that God allows to happen to you will strengthen your faith in Him, as you continue to trust in Him. Godbless you my sista! ![]() Father in heaven, we come before you today with praise and thanksgiving for the life of our sista. We thank you for her life, for all that you have done, are doing and are going to do in her life. We lift her up before you Lord asking that you renew her spirit and lift the weight of the worries of this world off her shoulders and off her heart. We pray in the name of your holy Son Jesus Christ, that you will comfort her heart and perfect all that concerns her and her family. I pray for wisdom and understanding, for providence, for provision, for healing in her life. May she live a life that glorifies your name and brings great praise to your kingdom here on earth and in heaven. In Jesus name we pray. Amen. |
