Every tongue in heaven and earth
Shall declare your glory
every knee shall bow at your throne
in worship
you will be exhalted oh God
and your kingdom shall not pass away
oh ancient of days

Chorus:

Your kingdom shall reign over all the earth

Come into His courts with praise
Enter His presence rejoicing
Singing great and mighty is His name

Praise Him with
The sound of the trumpet
Praise Him with
The timbrel and harp
Let every creature
In Heaven and earth
Lift a sound of praise
Sing with all their heart

For the Lord is good
(For the Lord is good)
For the Lord is good
(For the Lord is good)
For the Lord is good
And His mercy
Endures forever
For the Lord is good
(For the Lord is good)
For the Lord is good
(For the Lord is good)
For the Lord is good
And His mercy
Endures forever
For the Lord is good
And His mercy
Endures forever

Jesus the Son is exalted
Maker of everything
Come now and bow down
Before Him
Lift your voice to sing

For the Lord is good
And His mercy endures forever

Blessings to all the saints . . . Analytical, Kola, Gamine, Fifi, Daruche, dudu and everyone else I didn't mention. I hope you're all doing well in Christ.

I leave you with this verse
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not upon your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.

I pray God's word will continue to shine upon our hearts and illuminate them until there is no more darkness, but only His pure light in us. Amen. Have a fantastic weekend folks! smiley

Well the "potent" cowboy offense usually offsets their "leaky" defense. As long as they can outscore their opponents, they won't need to tighten up the fences a whole lot.

I just like to see Rodgers succeed after everything Bratt put him & the organization thru. And now to be battling injuries? not good for his very young career that looked very entertaining & promising after the first couple games.

Week 7 Picks:

Cincy @ Jets - I expect the bengals to show they have some pride and not go down 0-6
Mia @ Texans - wow Onyinye for your sake I hope your boys don't get to 0-5
Chi @ ATL - Should be an easy win for chi-town
Bal @ Indy - I expect a close game, and Bal to pull off the win. The colts are not as good as their 2-2 record.
Oak @ Saints  - The saints should win this at home
STL @ Washington  - With the Redskins at home and on a roll, should be a W
GB @ Sea  - I feel bad for Rodgers, 3 straight losses. Hope they take this one
Dal @ ARI - A-40's boys should win this easy
Philly @ SF  - McNabb should do well on the road vs the 49ers
NE @ SD  - I'D like to say the Pats will win, but the Bolts are a very talented team who just haven't played well this yr. But I can't pick against my team so Pats will win

Not one clash really stands out as the game of the week. Butt I'll have my eyes on the Bengals, Colts and Redskins particularly.
SportsRe: NFL 11-12 Season Is Here: Where Are All The NFL Fans? by JeSoul(op): 8:23pm On Oct 09, 2008
Dramatic  things I'D like to see happen during the season:

Jets - Hope Bratt Favre changes his mind & retires mid-season

Cowboys - TO cries on national tv, again; Romo elopes with Jessica simpson to mexico & fumbles another playoff ball and Pacman stays born-again.

Giants -      infact I hope they don't even smell the playoffs!

Dolphins - win more than 1 game

Bengals - Ocho cinco changes his name to something even more ridiculously funny

Eagles - McNabb to play great and earn back the respect he deserves and leave for greener pasture, those ungrateful eagle fans

I'll save my other wishes for later .
Well thats 2 things I can cross off my list . . .
Now, the sum of what most of us have been saying are:

      1. there is nothing wrong with Christians tithing or not tithing

      2. to preach tithing in the NT needs to be properly balanced

      3. failure to balance this subject will lead many to become bitter

      4. such failure manifests where some leaders use Malachi 3 to ‘curse’ Christians

      5. besides, tithing is not all about money

      6. the real value of tithing is not “how much” but rather “what is”

      7. this value simply points to the ‘best part’ of all our offerings

      8. this is why tithes or any other offering is not a matter of how much %

      9. there is no verse in the NT (at least IMHO) where anything is required

    10. consequently, no compulsion, demand, or force is placed on us
           -  whether it is gifts or offerings of any kind.
The summation of the matter very well put. I think we cann all agree on the above. Right Kunle? you're not saying stuff that is too different from the above in my opinion from reading your entries.
Christianity EtcRe: To Tithe or Not to Tithe? by JeSoul(f): 4:44pm On Oct 09, 2008
Fifio,
Honestly, do you two realise how much the rest of us (me at least!) are benefiting from these discussions?
I thot I was the only one learning from behind the scenes smiley.

I think Pilgrim and Kunle are not too far from each other in what they believe. And I absolutely LOVE the way you've put it here, as this is also the conclusion I have on the matter

FifiO:
tithing is a principle older than law but incorporated in the law.
Abraham gave tithes instintively, or shall I say by the leading of God's Spirit.
We should not feel compelled to tithe but as  Paul argues, it is good to give it since we understand that it is useful to the church as it was to the priests of the old testament

The way I see it now, I will never feel guilty about not tithing(or giving) , but when I can i will being mindful of the needs of the church underwhich I recieve instructions.
I could not agree MORE with all the above! smiley Blessings my sista.

@Jesoul
So whats wrong with prenuptial agreement from your point of view? No be you talk for another thread that two very close fiends of yours just got divorced?
You've been paying attention  wink.

My brotha my views are based on what we're taught marriage is about in the bible. Like Gamine so eloquently put it why would anyone head into a marriage and at the same time prepare for divorce?  huh  you're already setting yourself up to fail.
Why would one consider keeping their "assets" more important than keeping their spouse? don't u see something very twisted with this logic? Like David said, Marriage is not a business investment that requires insurance. That's why people must shine their eyes and open their minds before they marry a person. No be small decision at all. If you're not sure you trust/love the person why marry them at all?

Now if the people in question are not christians no biggie, they are free to live as they choose. However the minute they claim to be followers of Christ, we must live as Christ taught. And He taught that marriage is for life except for unfaithfulness. As for my friends . . . no one could be more disappointed in them than me BUT we all fall short n make mistakes and bad decisions and we'll each answer to God.

Marriage is about weathering the storms together, why prepare for divorce from the very beginning?

FifiO:
@JeSoul
I'm smiling as I read yours, do you mean that's the only one time you reflect on His death,His sacrifice ? I find I do that all the time.
smiley of course not.

My friend, the very fact that you have an opinion, or stand on this matter means that you have thought about what the scipture in question says, and what it doesn't say, came to a certain conclusion which reflects your believe, and have gone ahead to act or desist from acting, based on it. Shouldn't everyone do same?
I don't dissaude christians from having opinions my sister. My point is that if everyone has an "opinion" on what that verse should "signify" it will be problematic. Whose opinion then is right? whose is wrong? when we could simply avoid these scenarios by simply taking what we've been given in the bible as the meaning, without necessarily seeking a need to expound on it. Make sense?

If you note, I have shown how I direct my mind to recieve this doctrine. It would be a different thing if I said, why not yam and palm oil instead of bread & wine? that would be using my thinking to change/ colour the doctrine. cheesy
lol . . . I hear you jare. And I do see where you're coming from, my only issue is leaving something as sacred as the communion "open to personal interpretation" is like walking on egg shells in a mine field.

so, when we study God's word we are looking for insights, illumination, not just the letters of the words or religious forms.
I absolutely agree! smiley

Hmn, I agree with you, that is not the purpose of taking communion nor is it expressly writen in the Bible. However, all I am saying is that communion time is a good time to recieve these blessings because while our minds are fixed on what He has done, the implications of the sacrifice, etc there is a great awareness, the kind that causes our faith to rise up within us to meet our challenges. At such a time (or,some other time with such awareness,as you may already have) you can actually say to that mountain,"move"
Glad you see what I meant and I also get your point a little clearer. I'm not in perfect agreement but I can understand your position  wink.

@ All, this is how I am feeling today:

Happy, happy, happy
happy in the Lord,
Thank God I'm born again,
I'm happy in the Lord,
One thing I have come to know,
my Lord is good,
that's why I'm happy,
happy in the Lord!

Blessings!

FifiO:
I understand how one can think that, and you are right that sin is the  but I need you to see the big picture. Of sin, that is.
You see, sin is a nature, and sickness and all the others are like baggage that comes with it.  Why do you think the Bible calls satan "the accuser of the brethren"? or why does it say that sin shall not have dominion (the rule) over a believer? these are the things one needs to read into the lines,  there is a result of sin which salvation has removed- the accuser has no grounds to afflict our bodies with sickness, the devourer has no right over our finances, with his strips we are healed,  thats how I personally relate to the things I read in the Bible.
My sista FifiO smiley I'm glad all is well with you.
My dear I do see the big picture smiley and I'm not against us looking at the whole and appreciating the significance of our new freedom in Christ.  I don't doubt we're overcomers n have victory, that's all good n true
But my point is when taking communion, we are solely reflecting on Christ, His death, His sacrifice alone. The minute we incorporate our problems n issues into it, it diminishes the purpose and takes the focus off from that which it was intended - to simply reflect on Jesus' death! So when you say:

So while I do solemnly remember Christ's suffering and death on the cross, and His resurrection importantly, I think it good sense to keep my mind not only on why He  did it but what is the result  of His action. I don't believe thats how Jesus wants us to remember all that He accomplished by His death and ressurection.
and my sista that's my point, it is how YOU feel and how YOU think! smiley there is no biblical justification for it. If we all had our different ideas and Thoughts on what things should mean in the bible, don't u see how that can create big trouble? that results in the adding and modifying of scripture, which is how the church gets into trouble with heresies (not that I'm accusing you of such, not at all).

If we simply stuck to what we're given in 1Cor 11, we would all be fine and in right standing in God's sight. Instead of us treading the slippery slope of adding our own meanings and ideas to sacred acts of worship such as the holy communion.

Nevertheless, I would like you to consider further what exactly Christ did. Ask yourself, why did Christ take away the sin,? think about what God said to Adam & Eve before sending them out of Eden and try to relate that to what Jesus wanted us to remember (keep our minds on). To my mind it was like " Remember that I have accomplished this, remember that you don't have to bear the result of the fall because I have borne it, "

don't forget that the fall/disobedience had consequences. Its not just that it was a sin- that's not the whole story.
So, Christ's work had reinstatement in its purpose. You see, its not like we are trying to fill in the gap with "our inclinations" but we try to understand that there was a plan from the beginning and to key-in to that plan. An informed christian is truely" an overcomer".

Think about it.
smiley I don't disagree with the fact Christ died to save us from sin and make us right with God. That is the foremost reason He came, to save us. All I'm saying is that a person taking communion for the purpose of healing or material or financial blessing is not taught in the bible.

I hear you really that we can look at what Christ did n deduce from that to say well he came to save us etc and bless us and all those good things, but I still look at 1Cor 11 and there I see the focus set solely on remembering Jesus' death, and nuthin else and to that I cannot add.
After communion I can pray for anythin else I need but during the very act of breaking bread - all my mind is on, is just Jesus- finito! smiley

Thanks though for ur point of view, its been intresting to read.
Godbless!

Goodmorning or Afternoon or Evening,

I normally only read in the religion section and practice my Christianity off the board. But today my heart is heavy and there are several things that are weighing on my soul and mind.

I know that through all things God is always wonderful and righteous. I am finding it difficult today to listen to God. i am finding it difficult to hear what he needs to say to me. i am finding it difficult to remove this cloud that is over my head today.

Please I come for some words of encouragement.
My dear sista it is well with you! I think I know how you feel as all week I'D been struggling to keep my faith steady and unflinching in God and His word and what helped me above all else was to worship. So put on a cd and sing, or watch some youtube worship videos and just let yourself bask in God's greatness n love and you'll find your heart renewed. All the weight and troubles will melt away as you fix ur eyes on Him.
I've seen that while God hasn't "solved" all my issues n needs, He has put my heart at rest in His perfect peace and I believe He will do the same for you as you trust in Him. I give you Phil 4:6 which is a comfort to me anytime I'm worried
6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
May this be true of you today in Jesus name. And you can take comfort in the fact that everything that God allows to happen to you will strengthen your faith in Him, as you continue to trust in Him. Godbless you my sista!  smiley

Father in heaven,
we come before you today with praise and thanksgiving for the life of our sista. We thank you for her life, for all that you have done, are doing and are going to do in her life. We lift her up before you Lord asking that you renew her spirit and lift the weight of the worries of this world off her shoulders and off her heart. We pray in the name of your holy Son Jesus Christ, that you will comfort her heart and perfect all that concerns her and her family. I pray for wisdom and understanding, for providence, for provision, for healing in her life. May she live a life that glorifies your name and brings great praise to your kingdom here on earth and in heaven. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
