@Poster, you should listen to Davidylan- that is true wisdom coming from an experienced man. My boyfriend lied about his age when we first started going out, saying he was 2 years older when he was actually a yr younger than me. He mustered up the courage to tell me about 5 months into the relationship (we've been together now 3.5 years). You should have seen how scared and nervous he was so I understand your girlfriend being so scared to tell you. I was angry at first but got over it -YOU WILL GET OVER IT TOO. This is not that big a deal for you to throw away 2years of relationship, that will be too bad. |
I LOVEEEEE SMALLVILLE!!! I never fail to miss an episode. Glad to see another fan in here It def falls into drama category. I don't have a fav character though, I love them all. But Clark Kent is my boy for life! lol, I mean Tom Welling. |
Siena Siena:thank you jare Siena , my expression is one close to frustration when a simple question cannot be answered. plus anyone who thinks I'm cool must be TWICE as cool! ![]() Fufuking, wow, you wrote all that and still did not answer a simple question. I will resist the urge to quote and respond and correct all you've said cos you've gone waaayy off base and point. I don't want to turn this thread into something else other than about simple circumcision. Nairalanders, for those of you who believe in God, please can you answer this simple question: does God ever ASK or COMMAND us to do anything that is bad for or harmful to us? Yes or No? if the answer is no, then that means since He asked the Isrealites to circumsize themselves, it must not have been bad for them - spiritually or physically. End of story, simple, kapish, finish. I don't know why fufuking is bringing up all kind of wahala and quotes and etcera. I will let my fellow Nairalanders be the judge of this discussion. I'm out! |
You're switching the discussion.I'm not switching, it has been my whole point all along! that God would NEVER ask us to do anything that was bad for us! and you know you would be wrong to say God would ask anyone to do anything that was harmful to them. You keep saying its not the "christian" thing to do like the bible says we shouldn't, whereas the bible simply says spiritually you're not better of if you do or not! It doesn't say physically we're no better off!! how many times can I say this! As for whether or not God would ask us to do something was harmful to us, I can only point you to the fact that the God of the Old Testament was VERY HARSH and quite CRUEL. Remember he drowned and killed the whole world, leaving Noah. God killed the whole world because of sin. God is and was harsh and cruel because He hates anything sinful. What does that have to do with circumcision? what did God ask anyone to do that was bad for them there?God does not ASK or COMMAND us to do anything that is bad for us period! and you know it! You're quoting OT verses that I don't think are relevant to this discussion. I already said there parts of the OT that still apply today and parts that don't. I don't want to diverge by asking where did God ever God "slay people without explanation and orders them to sleep with their brother's wives"? all those have explanations. people died usually because of sin, and they slept with 'brothers wives' (only when the brother had actually DIED) in order to create offspring for the dead relative. A practice that the NT rules out today. Anyways all this is really besides the point. Please lets stay on topic. It doesn't really pertain to the real discussion and my real point: that God has never and will never ask us to do anything that is harmful to us! including circumcision!!! |
Fufuking, you're missing my point, I'm not talking about anything spiritual now, or that we're not jews or that it's a new covenant etc, I'm talking strictly physical. If circumcision is so bad why did God tell them to do it? He WOULD not ask any of His people to do anything that was harmful to them.[ I'm confused by your statement. What value do you find in circumcision?Yes the bible says that circumcision has no SPIRITUAL VALUE it does not say that physically it is no good. God commanded the sons of Abraham to do this as a sign of a covenant with him. But guess what? Christians are not Jews. We are not bound by the laws that they live by.would God ask the Isrealites to do something that was potentialy harmful to themselves? healthwise? don't we serve a good God? And circumcision has no bearing on your standing with God. Remember God favored Adam and his children, and they were not circumcised.Any christian knows that circumcision has no significance in Christ, it does not make God like you better. Do you still sacrifice animals to appease God? That was done in the Old Testament as well. If you accept Jesus Christ, you no longer live by the Old Testament. Jesus and the New Testament replaced many things that the Old Testament did. For example, the Old Testament commands an eye for an eye, whereas Jesus says turn the other cheek.Do you still obey the 10 commandments? there's still parts of the OT that are just as relevant today as they were thousands of years ago. We have a new covenant but does that mean you throw out the OT completely? No. There's parts that are still useful. BESIDES all this is not my point, answer this one question my brother: WOULD GOD ASK ANYONE, AT ANYTIME TO DO ANYTHING THAT IS POTENTIALLY HARMFUL TO THEM I assume you say no. Therefore He knows that circumcision is not harmful, hence He woulda never asked them to do it in the first place, covenant or no covenant! |
Fufu King:that's just what you think, ur personal opinion. And since you quoted scripture, I'll assume you're a christian, if circumcision, physically, is so bad why did God ask Abraham and ALL the Isrealites to do it? No the bible doesn't prohibit it, it requires it in the OT. And I'll even go far as to say it was for more reasons than just a spiritual act. You no no say God smart pass all human reasoning? there's a reason he asked them to do it in the first place. So I wouldn't say I recommend christians don't circumcize jus cos it is on no real value in Christ, I believe it is of value physically. |
Fufu King:oh okay I understand where you're coming from a lil better. Going from ur words here "THIS PASSAGE IN THE BIBLE MAKES IT VERY CLEAR THAT CIRCUMCISION IS NOT THE CHRISTIAN THING TO DO" it sounded like you were saying christians shouldn't circumcise. |
Fufuking, you need to chillax! I've been reading everyone's comments and you're attacking everyone who disagrees. I think you're taking this waaayyy too personal. It’s just a discussion. No matter what anyone says, no matter how many statistics or medical whatever, everyone will still believe what they want to believe. Finish. ps. You’re right circumcision is not a chrisitian thing but you’re misinterpreting these verses to say something it is not saying. You said THIS PASSAGE IN THE BIBLE MAKES IT VERY CLEAR THAT CIRCUMCISION IS NOT THE CHRISTIAN THING TO DO:No. It is saying as a Christian and in God’s sight being circumcised or uncircumcised does not matter but obeying God is what counts NOT that you should not be circumcised or Christians should not be circumcised. Abeg no twist scripture fit ur own agenda. |
hmmm I'd heard of people who complained their comments were edited, looks like someone edited mine Kobojunkie cos I had mentioned I agreed with you, though ur humor might draw some displeased pet owners, Kobojunkie: lol, Africans are not generally known for having pets, true that. To each his own i suppose, people do weird things don't they? ![]() |
I think pets should be just pets, and not elevated to the status of a 'member of the family'. Do you know how much money is spent on pets in a household that could've been spent on a REAL member of the family? Anyways the one way annoy me pass here in good ol' US of A is when I see pets with health insurance and their own 'doctors', what kind of nonsense is that? when there are millions of people who don't even have health insurance. Take care of real people first then u can spend leftovers on pets, not the other way round. And the worst I hate is when you ask someone "do you have any children?" they say "no, but I have a dog/cat" WHAT?! is an animal supposed to now equate a human being? Orishirishi! |
hmmm I'm pretty sure most of the people in here giving marital advice are not even married. Anyways, zazoo you are doing something that most people cannot do, give urself some credit for being strong thus far. I suggest you take your concerns straight to him, tell him what you've told us in here, he is afterall the one person in the world you should be able to talk to about anything. Most people that have never been married will not understand that all financial/material comfort will not take the place of the actual physical presence and time of ur spouse. That you can be able to share the small, simple things of everyday life together is soooo important and must never be underestimated. My advice, talk to him and tell him ur unhappiness with the way things are. You and ur daughter are his FIRST priority in life, and should not come in second to a job, no matter how good a job or how much the money. |
I always find it funny how people can blame God for everything that goes wrong, but never blame Him for the good things that happen in this world. To everyone who's asked why God lets this and that happen, He gave us FREEWILL to understand the difference between good and evil, its just that we humans love evil more than good, hence all the nonsense that happens in this world. Someone asked have you always done the right thing in ur life? read that thread about the bad things people did in sec school, wasn't it their choice? didn't they enjoy and are even laughing about those evil things? But we must not forget for everything we all do in this life, we will have to give account at the judgement - whether you believe in God or not. Make no mistake God has an intense kind of love for humanity that cannot be compared to that of a lover, friend or mother, He hates it when children suffer and go hungry, he despises it when people die tragically, Donjazzie like ur mum, He hates to see injustice and corruption BUT HE ALLOWS IT BECAUSE its what we CHOSE to do. As for untimely deaths the bible says the devil came to steal, kill and destroy, how come we're not blaming the real perpetraitor? the devil and his cohorts the demons? |
1 thing I especially hate about Nigerian movies is that most have Part 1 - 2 - 3 and for each part there are 2 discs, WHY?! I am already discouraged from watching by the simple fact I have to get up and change discs 6 times! it's annoying.for a movie that is terribly low quality (i mean most home videos on on video cams and cell phones are better quality). I can probably predict the end, and the audio where sometimes the music enters abruptly (loudly) I have to reduce the vol, then they switch to regular conversation and I have to increase the vol again, abeg too much work just to watch a predictable low quality movie. But nevertheless there're still very few nice naija movies out there, and I am optimistic we'll grow up and start appreciating quality over quanity, it is the quantity that earned us the 3rd best rating in the world but with the quality attached we will be a force to match hollywood. |
I think both sides have to be COMPLETELY dedicated and devoted to the relationship - that's the only way it can work. I tired it once and there're so many disadvantages - sometimes you just need physical presence and to be able to do things together and spend quality time together. Mine also did not survive cos I couldn't sustain love for someone I couldn't see and spend time with. but if you both are seriously dedicated to each other, it will work. Just don't wait for years and years before you see each other! lol, |
chillbabe:preach it my sister! I couldn't agree with you more. Too many men have the wrong impression all ladies are golddiggers. |
oh and you get closer to God (just like you get close to any person) by spending time with Him, by spending time in prayer, by studying the scriptures which teaches who God is. The bible is basically God's letter to us, we get to know Him by reading about Him in it. It tells what what God loves and what He hates, what He asks of you and the blessings He's given to you. |
Hey Sko, you have asked the 1 question that will change your life! ![]() The bible says in Romans 10:9 "That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved." To be saved you have to believe in Jesus and that He is the son of God. And you must repent of your sins and turn away from the way you used to live and follow the new way we are taught to live our lives in the bible. Many people out there claim to be christians but they expose they are not when they do not live according to the scriptures. What in the first place are we being saved from? from hell and from our sins. When you become a christian you become a friend of God and Jesus sacrifice by dying for you enables God to forgive you of all the sins you ever committed or will ever commit and write your name in the book of life, saving you from an eternity in hell. In Acts 16 a jailer asks the same question you did: "The jailer called for lights, rushed in and fell trembling before Paul and Silas. He then brought them out and asked, "Sirs, what must I do to be saved?" They replied, "Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved—you and your household." The book of Romans is a GREAT book to read to know about true salvation and what it means to be saved. Read the whole book, it'll answer all your questions. Also if you want to ask me anything else my email is charissa911@hotmail.com, I'd love to talk to you. Godbless! ![]() |
some ladies in here are giving us women a bad name, when I met my boyfriend 4yrs ago he didn't have much at all, but he had all the good characteristics all the other rich or moderately well-to-do men that I had dated did not have. And I loved Him for who he was. When we went on dates we pulled the weight together and managed with what we had and we were both HAPPY. You don't need a lot of money to spend to be happy, trust me. Just be content with whatever you have. Greed/ love of money is the root of all evil. Anyways, today he's moved up the ladder and is just starting a job at a big company where he's making a lot of money. I've also done well and I'm making a lot of money too. We spend on each other freely cos that trust and love was there even when there was no money. What if 4yrs ago I said no just becos he had no money then? how stupid would I be looking right now. Abeg not all women are looking for rich men or sugar daddy to date. Some of us are fine with men who aren't necessarily rich. |
@sojioguns, so it's okay for the police to arrest someone if they don't like the way they are dressed or the way they speak? what crime have they committed? Even though I want to wear baggy jeans and speak pidgin that is my perogative! whether na work day or weekend, that does not give them the right to arrest or harrass me! haba! Police corruption has nuthin to do with that at all o. I understand perception of the way a person appears is important BUT it's still not a justifiable reason to arrest anyone. And what about those people whose daddy's don't have commisioner friend like you? they would have sat in jail and paid exorbitant amount for bail for doing nothing criminal! There is no statement as ridiculous as saying the police is your friend! there may be good ones, but they are very few. |
to those who support this: this is not an issue of the west stripping us of our culture, it's an issue of the health of the woman. and the simple, proven fact that female circumcision is seriously bad for ANY woman. Africans have been doing it for cultural reasons and now we're educated we know the mindlessness and stupidity of this act. Circumcision has been proven to be beneficial to men, it is recommended. BUT IT HAS ONLY SERIOUSLY NEGATIVE EFFECTS ON WOMEN, even leading to death. Look at the bible and history, even God told the isrealite men to circumsize themselves BUT not the women. Seun said it, if a grown woman wants to subject herself to such savage acts- by all means go ahead, but to do this to babies and little girls? omashe o. It is stupid traditions and cultures like this that is preventing us as africans from moving into the 21st century. We need to let go of such savage and barbaric acts. And why some people hold on to such atrocities in the name of culture is just beyond me! |
guys maybe someone can explain to me why so many naija dudes like wearing those short ties? what they didn't have money to buy the full/long size? those short things are sooo ugly in my opinion. and I forgot who mentioned something about men wearing their sizes, guys stop wearing jeans/pants that are 5 sizes bigger than ur waist! and then sagging them to show ur "calvin clean" boxers, not attractive! also those "super tight-fitted" muscle shirts are old news, you don't hafta show display ur muscles to that extent. Most of us girls would actually prefer seeing you in a nice fitted shirt, and casuals - looking real classy. PTH:tell me about it! I got my heater on right now here in boston, summer ke! |
thanks Chi. . I'll be looking round for the best dressed lady in the store n dats how I'll know it's you! ![]() aloib:yeah the YOUNGER naija guys here def do dress okay. The older ones, not so much. |
chiogo:oh cool . I just moved back to worcester from watertown so that's like an hr drive now to get to downtown crossing. But i'll keep that in mind the next time I'm down there, |
chiogo, oh okay never been to that one. |
his_grace, it's a nice pic, alright you got good dress sense. babyosisi - you are too funny. Pray for me at ur revival. chiogo- do you go to the filene's basement in watertown? lol
What about the atrocities Nigerian women commit against fashion They have a reputation for appalling dress sense
haba! that is so not true! some ladies overdo it but naija women have way better dress sense than the men do. |
lets see how y'all dress - put a picture of u here and lets judge.
you first! |
phenomenon:lol, how cute. We ain't sweatin' you jare. You must be one of the naija men with a good dress sense . |
k0be:lol, yeah I can't front, naija women need to look at themselves too. But ehm, may we not stray too far from the topic else a battle might ensue. I think naija is so heavily influenced by western cultures when it comes to dressing, and unfortunately some people cannot pull it off as well as others. I do think naija men are generally still okay, its other african countries I might say generally lack a good dress sense, |
phenomenon:hmmm you wan start katakata, shey na trouble you dey find? don't awaken the women oh! This will quickly escalate into a full fledged battle! lol, babyosisi:LOL that is so true! I forgot about the way they wear so much jewelry. |
ThiefOfHearts: -you mean like this? lol, girl thats funny!I agree wearing sunglasses at night is so ridiculous, and while I do think naija men def try too hard when they dress, most of the ones I know and see are pretty okay dressers. Now Nigerian women generally go waaaay overboard when they dress, to much action going on with the whole outfit and especially with the excessive make-up. But I digress off topic. |
It def falls into drama category. I don't have a fav character though, I love them all. But Clark Kent is my boy for life! lol, I mean Tom Welling.

God killed the whole world because of sin. God is and was harsh and cruel because He hates anything sinful. What does that have to do with circumcision? what did God ask anyone to do that was bad for them there?
. I'll be looking round for the best dressed lady in the store n dats how I'll know it's you!
, but na them fine pass
