JYOU,

Dude u just a newbies & that's it, my point is that lets embrace the .NG Domain name or go for the sub-domain .Com.NG
your No.2 question, Capital YES, all Nigerian must have the .NG attach to their domain names that is if you're proud to be a Nigerian . . .haba lets creat a good image for our nation na, which level.
And that of Seun i insist u flip to the front page of NAIRALAND e-book to get more details. lol.

Youngies,
U have spoken well i don't have much to say since u can't admit to the fact.
newbie as in what oga? i dont know anything about this other than owning domains but i i do know owning .ng does not make anyone more  patriotic than the other.  what has .ng got to do with being proud? i have .eu, .us, org.uk  does that make me proud us citizen even though i dont live there?
WebmastersRe: Why Not A .NG Tld? by JJYOU: 3:52pm On Dec 13, 2008
youngies:
No, you do not have to give any account details before you could register your .ng domain. The issue of security of your credit card does not arise. Maybe you need to open the registration site and look at fields in the form for registeration, http://db.register.net.ng

Thanks
as many pointed out in an earlier thread on this subject that is the point.  the integrity of the nigerian brand is very high as you know. you come accross as someone with vast knowledge of this subject and you are saying security of info does not arise.  i wonder why you said that.  i personally will not volunteer my enemies name onto some website let alone mine.

we own various names through  oneandone, godaddy, register.com, registerfly and hostmonsters for years.  even when registerfly was in serious trouble the migration to other registrars was trouble free.  i wish the .ng luck and success but i wait to see many questions answered first

Dude i try to comprehend ur post but couldn't get ur point nevertheless u're rite he can't afford, but yet claim to have the biggest Nigerian Website with no .NG attach to it, come to think of it that dude is makinq million's from this site, u can't tell me that you're not aware of that, huh.
what is your point here sir? must everything nigerian has .ng? where is he making the millions from? please give us his house address and bank account number
WebmastersRe: Why Not A .NG Tld? by JJYOU: 3:26pm On Dec 13, 2008
what is the security of info like with naija domain registrations. do you have to give your credit card details and what is the gaurantee it wont be compromised?

NITDA goes to the extent of calling your administrative contact to confirm before you could be registered

The white boy's name is Randy Bush, he has since handed it over to Nigerians

The registration site is http://db.register.net.ng
how did you interprete being given rights to admin contacts being called? what i said is true i stand by that. it was done before the .eu and recently the .mobi came live. almost 3 months if i remember.

you are right that guy is randy bush and thanks for the link
WebmastersRe: Why Not A .NG Tld? by JJYOU: 2:34pm On Dec 13, 2008
youngies:
Many thanks, Yawa

To break it down further, do you know that, that Indian 419 with .ng domain must be known by the authorities before his .ng domain is registered? If at anytime it proven or even suspected that his domain is involved in illegal business, NITDA has the right to shut it down without any recourse.

Again, you as an individual or comapany can't go and register for instance "www.cocacola.com.ng" if you are not the real coca cola company. If you do, at anytime it is discorvered by coca cola, they may ask NITDA that they want to reclaim the domain from you, and NITDA will have no option than to oblige them.
you are right. as a matter of fact before any new domains are released to the public every company is given the right to buy up. it is generally higher than the usual price but it is worth the agro of trying to stop fraudulent/illegal use later.
youngies:
yawa,

Does it necessarily mean that any company with .ng domain is based in Nigeria?
the white guy who was responsible for the registration 3 yrs ago told us in an email you have to have physical presence in naija.
youngies:
It took me approximately 6 days to get my .ng domain to be resolved. It is also free, if you already have a hosting company that will host your site. But you will be required to pay if you also want to host with NITDA servers.

My experience - the down-time of .ng servers is not encouraging and needs to be addressed asap.
where is the registration site pls

we are talking of a soceity where

a woman is expected to shut up and put up
where she could be sent away penniless from her matrimonial home for not having a male child
or have a second wife brought in esp in Muslim cultures, whether she likes it or not
a man could abandon his wife and kids and nothing happens
she could be beaten up and maimed by her husband and nothing happens

here on this forum, you remeber the statement made by several males when they found out I was female.
That is the mindset of an average Nigerian male

its a myth, you say?

Like I pointed out on the masquerade thread, there are many parts of Nigeria where masquerades openly set out to terrorize women and children. And yes, its part and parcel of our culture.

Women and children in the vicinity are expressly threatened with flogging, chased till they find shelter somewhere, and harassed in various ways by men/boys dressed up as masquerades. Some women are threatened with dire punishments if they confront one or learn any of the 'secrets" of the cult.

can you explain how this mentality doesnt become engrained in the minds of most Naija males especially when it comes to gender relations? And how such a culture of flogging women doesnt favor men?
i am sure these  masquerades drove our women to italy for ashewo work abi?

Eid-el-kabir, Xmas Blues: Abuja Prostitutes Buy Celebrities’ Phone Numbers - Reps, N10,000; Senators, N20,000; FEC Members, N50,000

Idowu Samuel, Abuja - 06.12.2008

Prostitutes in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, have devised a new method of making money from top celebrities, most especially, federal legislators, by buying up their mobile telephone numbers.

The new device by the prostitutes is their own means of making sufficient money ahead of the eid-el-kabir festival and the Christmas celebrations.

Latest findings by Saturday Tribune revealed that the women of easy virtue would approach close friends, relations, house helps and acquaintances of the celebrities demanding their telephone numbers for particular fees.

It was learnt that the prostitutes have been offering so much as N10,000 to get a telephone line of any member of the House of Representatives, while they could offer N20,000 to get the telephone line of any senator and N50,000 to obtain the telephone line of any member of the Federal Executive Council (FEC), known to have a knack for delectable ladies and undercover enjoyment.

On getting the telephone lines, the ladies, mostly students, from tertiary institutions from across the federation, would call their prospective prey and give stories of an earlier familiar encounter they had had at different occasions.

According to findings, any of the celebrity so called would express surprise on how the women got their numbers, as they were usually alarmed that they never encountered any such woman.

The desperate women would again give a vivid description of how they met and agreed to have date, pointing out rather that it was the celebrity in question who voluntarily offered his telephone line to that effect.

In most cases, a smart prey would play along and call for a meeting with the lady after which he would subsequently discover that the particular lay was only playing pranks to extort money from him.

Many of the lawmakers; senators and House of Representatives, members who spoke with Saturday Tribune confirmed that they had received strange calls from women who were desperately seeking their attention.

They specifically disclosed that they started receiving such calls almost immediately after they had collected their due allocations, an indication that the prostitutes had put them under strict surveillance.

Some principal officials of both chambers of the National Assembly also confirmed that they were the most pressurized by the Abuja women of easy virtues.

Findings revealed that some of the celebrities fell prey to the antics of the prostitutes, most especially to the so-called delectable ones who eventually led them to orgies of sexual escapades.

there is this one brewing i commented on earlier https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria?topic=204338.msg3186056#msg3186056

lawyer:
I did my Nysc some years back in Oyo state and during the 3 weeks  camp period, i realised that most of the girls themselves actually wanted to be posted to Ibadan town to work in main stream banks during their youth service year. You could see chicks with HND yoruba and Islamic studies jostling to jack GMAT exams so as to be called for an interview in a bank. Some of them were already trying to befriend the bankers who came to scout for potential corpers for the bank so as to just get a call up letter posting them to a bank.

At first, it seemed okay that they needed the bank jobs for their corper financial security but it later dawned on me that they cherished the marketing priviledges and perks that come with it. No body forced them and despite the hidden rumours in camp that working for a bank could be extremely stressful for corper women, they werent bothered.

i remember these 3 beautiful chicks that were posted out of Ibadan to a remote town Igbo-ara in Oyo State. They complained profusely about their posting and some way managed to come to ibadan to change their primary assignment location. These chicks were friends of a colleague in law school who was also serving with me. Immediately they highlighted from the bus, one of them was whispering that she had gotten the contact with one of the branch managers in Unity Bank in Dugbe and urged the other 2 to follow her. Later in the night, they came back to my friend's crib to spend the night, i saw 2 them dressing up in a very lascivious manner. Obviously i thought they were going for a party but one of the girls was just in a regular jeans frowning. My friend asked her whats up and she refused to tell him.

A car later drove into the house and picked the 2 chicks while the other one stayed alone in another room till the next morning. The following day, those 2 girls came back and were boasting that they wouldnt have to go back to igbo ara because apparently the branch manager had given them notes to the state coordinator that they were to resume in Unity bank after 3 weeks.

What made that single chick angry was that she later confided in my friend that their previous outting that day led to the branch manager inviting them for a sexual romp in a popular hotel in Ibadan with some of his friends and if they wanted the job, they would acceed to their requests and if they didnt, well, nothing fruitful will come out for the defaulting party. She stated that her friends tried to coerce her to go with them and since they werent indigenes of the town, they will need that extra security and financial gain to survive that corps year.

She bluntly refused and for her punishment, the 2 girls refused to chip in a good word for her and she ultimately had to return to Igbo ara to finish her service while the 2 girls stayed in Ibadan and worked with Unity bank despite the fact that they werent qualified to become bankers or were really any good as marketers.

The point i am driving at here is that despite what the local govt chairman said in respect of banning corper women from serving in banks, most chicks will go the extra mile to force themselves into banks either for sexual, financial or security gains. That L.G chairman is a lone wolf in the jungle and so many girls right now, will be scoffing at his statements and probably hating me for revealing such a damning fact!
you better believe there are people going to hate you for telling truth.

Ex-minister convicted of bigamy
Roderick Sangster
Roderick Sangster, 58, was convicted in his absence

A former church minister and ex-policeman was found guilty of bigamy.

Roderick Sangster, 58, married Janet Pollard, with whom he lived in Leamington Spa, Warwickshire, while still married to Jill Sangster in 2004.

Sangster, whose address was given as Chester, was not present during his trial at Warwick Crown Court where he was also convicted of forgery.

The court heard he left both women heavily in debt. A warrant has been issued for his arrest.

Judge Coates, who quoted Oscar Wilde's famous line "bigamy is having one wife too many - monogamy is the same", said: "This is the first time I have dealt with a case of bigamy and I have been at the Bar for 35 years."

Speaking outside the court Mrs Sangster, to whom he is still legally married, said: "It's just the start. We need to find him now."

Declared bankrupt

Janet Wallace, formerly Pollard, whom Sangster married illegally, said: "I'm just delighted. I've come through this and my life is good.

"I will be delighted when he is brought to justice."

Jill Sangster and Janet Pollard
Sangster married Janet Pollard (right) while still married to Jill Sangster

Det Sgt Cawail Wong, from Warwickshire Police, urged Sangster to hand himself in.

The trial was told Sangster studied divinity at Aberdeen University for five years and qualified as a Church of Scotland minister at St Andrews.

Mrs Sangster was forced to declare herself bankrupt after discovering her husband had run up a debt of £30,000, while Ms Pollard was left with a bill for £55,000.

Sangster, a former Grampian policeman and Metropolitan Police officer was also found guilty of forging Ms Pollard's signature to obtain a £10,000 loan from Northern Rock.

The women found out about one another after Mrs Sangster, of Perth, Scotland, contacted Ms Pollard when she was chasing up her husband's debts.

Internet dating

Mrs Sangster said: "[Ms Pollard, from Fife, in Scotland] She said she was married to a Rod Sangster and was it the same one?

"I got out the wedding photos and showed her and she confirmed it was him."

Mr Sangster married Mrs Sangster in Florida on 6 August 1996 after divorcing his first wife Frances Tait, from Portlethen, Aberdeenshire, to whom he was legally married for 25 years and with whom he had four children.

Sangster left his second wife Mrs Sangster in 2002 and began divorce proceedings, but did not see them through.

Sangster, whose last known address was the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Trinity Street, Chester, wrote a letter to Mrs Sangster in 2003 telling her she would not get a divorce.

He then found a job at a hotel in Evesham, Worcestershire, and started internet dating Ms Pollard, who was recovering from cancer.

He told her he had divorced his wife and moved in with her. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/7727718.stm
