you never know Akpeyi might just be the hero of the day phamarsenal: I had to watch d highlight BTW super eagles and Cameroon, where we defeated dem 4nil, wit virtually almost d same squad DAT we HV nw apart from some few changes here and dere...BT d most notable difference BTW d present squad and d other one is d absence of a certain victor moses, his trickery and pace on d wings and surprisingly his unselfishness was a thorn in d flesh of d indomitable lions. I don't wanna say we miss him, even though he would HV been a good addition to d squad BT I believe DAT we HV similar players DAT can do damage to d Cameroonians even though dey r quite young. He has to start either chukwueze or onyrkuru on Saturday because dey can stretch DAT defence and open up opportunities for others to score. BT if he decides to play safe like he always does, den am afraid we should jst start to book our flight tickets back home because dere is no way we would win if dat match goes to penalties, not with DAT Cameroon goalkeeper |

Humility017: bro...Rohr is just the problem of that team.. I wish one of us here can take over his job just for this afcon.
Egypt can't beat us if we really play to our potentials but Rohr is just the problem.
I expect him to be sacked later next week after loosing to Egypt. |

We had a team better than Madagascar, Burundi and Guinea and we have been convincing. Thank you. And the Cameroonians don't have substitutions they can make as well. Just take Rohr's position for the match and it will raise my hopes. Humility017: No...but we have a team better than Cameroon national team.
in potentials and abilities the super eagles is better.... all we need do is to play oshimen as CF put in ighalo in the last 30 mins. musa and chuks on both flanks... Iwobi on the 10 role... Aina play the RB and Collins LB and Balogun/Ekong and omeruo play the CBs role.
we can get some results with this.... kalu/Henry can come in later to outrun the Cameroonian defense...Simon Moses can come in as a 10 also for iwobi if he gets tired. |

Is Rohr better than Kluivert and Seedorf combined? Humility017: oga Nigeria will beat Cameroon come this weekend... my only fear is Egypt that await us...
kluivert obviously learnt nothing from Louis Van Gaal... him and seedorf are the worst Dutch coaches I have seen since a decade now.
we will beat them.... |

yes they are afraid of us. our players know we would just walk over them. that' how one moniker said Ghana was battling and sweating it out so as to avoid us in the second round.. aniomafirstson: I am not underrating them but most of the comments I see here are irritating. Psychologically they are afraid of the Nigerian team weather we like to admit or not and I don't even see anything spectacular about their gameplay. |

I don't really care about big names, but it's surprising how they got both Kluivert and Seedorf on their technical crew. It's not something Nigeria would normally pull off. darkelf: This is a different Cameroon bro. Never underrate your opponents. They have a different technical crew. They have also not conceded any goals in their group stages while our attack has been poor. |

some moniker on this thread talked about how exciting this AFCON would be. i'm still waiting to see the excitement. we are a people who like to pray so that we reap where we did not sow. krattoss: Mehn I no go lie,I will loose interest in this AFCON if we crash out in this round 16, and I no wan loose interest
If Egypt eventually crashes out against South Africa, then this year's AFCON will go into records as the AFCON with the least spectators in the history of AFCON..cos it's only the Pharaohs the pulls amazingly crowd. |

For example, Kachikwu lamented that our refineries have not been maintained at the same level like those in the neighbouring countries such as Ghana and Cote d’Ivoire, noting that their refineries that are about the same age with Nigeria’s, are working at 90 per cent capacity.
Algeria’s Skikda refinery built in 1983 is currently Africa’s largest refinery with a daily production of over 320,000 barrels has reportedly gone full-scale maintenance. Five years ago, the Algerian state oil firm, Sonatrach, closed the refinery for six months to carry out maintenance.
In the same vein, South Africa’s SAPREF Durban refinery built 52 years ago with a daily production capacity of up to 180,000 and Egypt’s Mostorod Refinery with 142,000 daily production capacity, are ranked above Nigeria’s plants due to their world-class maintenance culture. Thus, at the root of Nigeria’s refining problems is lack of maintenance nurtured by corruption. |

Despite the fact that they play as a team, they are gifted individually. The game I saw yesterday was full of skills and grit. You can’t even say Nigeria has evolved because there is nothing positive u can say about this team. We have regressed Finito Truidstar: Oga, please get my point. Brazil apart Neymer does not have a player that comes close to Messi and Ronaldo. This was the same Brazil at a time that had Ronaldo, Rivaldo and Ronaldinho. Each of these players a game changer on his own. Argentina had the Gabriel Batistuta, Pablo Aimar and the like. They just have Messi who will soon be over the hill. Same with the Germans. These teams have evolved to play without game changers (except Argentina, still depends on Messi). Our so called limitations can be our greatest strength in the hands of a brilliant coach. |

The problem is we can’t be who we are not. We have to play as a team to have the advantage. Unfortunately this is not the case. Humility017: and so.... we won them in 2004 by simply techniques and smartness. in that match kanu played even passed the ball for utaka's goal, osaze played too and we took our chances so well.
you don't have to jam body to win them... I it requires jam body they would have been winning light skinned countries in the world cups... since 2002.
we need to utilize our chances.... so well. |

Cameroon na jam body football let’s not forget Humility017: that guy will keep finding it difficult to score goals..... you won't understand. in a tourney like this...an unknown player often steal the show. Sunday MBa did so at the last afcon. |
Sports › Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 6:45pm On Jul 03, 2019 |
Our problem is not Ighalo Humility017: Ighalo is killing our football...the earlier we know this the better for us.
Dude is also selfish...very selfish.
balogun have no problem...I won't blame him much for that errors....ogu does not sense of his own too... for a player that have played football that long not to be able to read games shows the problem we have in that team...
balogun and other defenders...should be made to know that we expect them to score from set pieces...
they barely know how to put their heights to use...so pathetic. sometimes I try find the German traits in him.... Germans make use of corner kicks like penalties... but this one and his uncle coach are something else |

U watch Brazil vs Argentina yesterday? Don’t use those countries as analogy when you are talking about our current SE. We don evolve? What have we become now? Truidstar: The right word is our football has evolved not regressed. Brazil used to have Ronaldo, Rivaldo, Ronaldinho in a Generation. They don't have that anymore they have evolved to cope with their limitations. That's what we need to do too. |

We didn't struggle to get to this tourney & we're struggling (quite) at the tourney, doesn't that seem weird. If we had a form that got us here (even you would not tell me we met any team in the group that's better than Libya at least) & the form kicks in, what stops us from going all the way? |

Man management will always be a problem. All coaches have their selection preference and bias somewhat. For a Nigerian coach to manage his team well, he will need to have a group of his loyal boys. Else, because of our players' mentality -- which is Nigerian -- most of those who have achieved somewhat will not be easy to manage by local coaches. There will be clashes of egos. Our local coaches will want to say they achieved more during their days, vice versa. Dem go dey compete, who pass who? wayodude: I still think we would do better with the right foreign coach instead of going local. The man management and selection bias will ways remain our undoing with local coaches no matter how much exposure they have to how things should be done.
Amunike as a no 2 under a rijkaard or someone of that sort of standing is what I would opt for. |
