AMvanquish: How did he pass everybody and get to Enugu? Nigeria needs to ban some of these foreign nationals and flights from coming into the country, even if it's for a month or 2. At this kind of time, it is very high risk and dangerous. May God help us all. The problem with imposing bans when you're not at crisis point is that the ban may end up staying in place for way too long and you will end up with with a ruined economy and lost jobs, with hunger killing far more people than the disease would. |
Christianity Etc › Re: Coronavirus: Do You Feel Safe Going To Church?? by JuanDeDios: 12:34pm On Mar 15, 2020 |
Eviana: I went to church. I think people need to be wise yet practical. While people should be informed and cautious about any worldwide pestilence, all a professor of Christ "can" and "should" do is pray about the entire situation, be vigilante and consistent about being as clean (washing hands with soap thoroughly, using hand sanitizer, Clorox, Lysol or powerful chemicals that can kill germs etc.)as one can and continue living life. Do not deliberately put vulnerable people (sickly elderly people--aged 65-70 and above- or immunocompromised people etc.) in situations where they can be more at risk (ex. large crowds etc.) When one has done all one can do practically, then leave it in God's hands. Being fearful or afraid to the point where one becomes irrational is unhealthy and destructive. Unbridled fear can debilitate or paralyze a person...which is not good. Christians should not be living that way...as if they do not have a Father in Heaven who still rules this entire planet and understand what is occurring.

SUFFERInSMILIIN: my friend you speak like an illiterate. If you go to America there and Jew Restaurant only for Jew. There are French restaurants only for French in America and in Britain. Please let's not be illiterate say when a company or restaurant opens you target a certain class of people. You might as well know that this restaurant might have been funded by the Chinese Association of Nigeria or the Chinese government so you cannot expect them to be given services to Nigerians Yes, there are French restaurants but they're not for only French people. Those restaurants were opened to target a certain clientele, and that is fine. What is not fine is when a Jewish restaurant DECLINES to serve an Italian because he is not Jewish or when an Irish restaurant refuses to serve a black man because he is black or not Irish. In Nigeria the restaurant may simply get locked up but in the USA, it would face a civil right lawsuit and could lose a lot of money. I get you've never been to America or the places you love to talk about and have never heard of civil right legislation in those countries, but you can read up a bit and get some exposure. |

Rules have to be governed by the grund norm. Even the rules you make in your home, if found to contravene the law, will bring trouble your way. Refusing to serve people on the basis of their skin colour is wrong is wrong on every level and no society should accept it. |

Family › Re: My Husband Doesn’t Want My Son To Come And Stay With Us by JuanDeDios: 10:21am On Mar 13, 2020 |
Vyvyanvyvy: I had 2 children. When I got married, my husband had none and accepted them like his own children.
Before marriage, we had discussed about the children living with us after marriage but that couldn’t be possible anymore because we were having financial problem so we couldn’t afford to move to a bigger apartment. We were staying in a room self contain with my daughter while my son was staying with my elder brother and his wife.
Now three years after we had moved to a bigger house still my husband doesn’t want my son to come and live with us. At the moment my son is going through hard times. My sister in law has been maltreating him to an extent that he has been stealing, he was caught and beaten like an animal. My brother said he doesn’t want him in his house again. He wants me to come and collect him.
I pleaded with my husband for me to bring him with us but he said no, he should stay there because he doesn't want him to damage our children. I’m angry at him I stopped talking to him and I don’t know where my son will go because I have no mother no father it’s only my elder brother and kid sister even my sister who is married doesn’t want him. I’m pained and in tears seeing my only son suffering while I’m still alive and I’m helpless to protect him. Your son can't live on the streets. He needs a home and he needs his mother. Your bother was only doing you a favour. Your husband should have refused to marry you if he doesn't want your kids. But what's done is done. Try to make your husband keep his promise to accept your son. If he does not, you have to decide between losing your marriage and letting your son be raised by the devil on the streets. Don't fail your son - he's innocent and a marriage is not worth that. |

Marrying a Nigerian girl with two children(not even one) is not what every man can do. That man deserves peace and respect from you. Are you okay? Her brother should be responsible for her son when she's alive? Didn't the man know she had him when he agreed to marry her? DeeMain: Guy, if you read what I wrote and still come up with this then I can't help you. You win. I think that’s because you’re thinking things from conclusion to premise - which probably explains why you prefer complicated interpretations over a simple reading. For example, you say Moses wrote Genesis. You state this as a fact - even though nobody knows who wrote Genesis. Why? Because Jewish oral tradition says so and of all the competing theories as to who wrote Genesis, this is the one you or the group you belong to prefer. That’s why you assume that your statement that a day in Genesis equals 1,000 years (or billions of years, I guess you pick 1000 or billions depending which is more convenient) disables every argument. Ok. |
Science/Technology › Re: Earth Was A 'Waterworld' Covered By A Global Ocean 3.2 Billion Years Ago by JuanDeDios: 11:57am On Mar 03, 2020 |
DeeMain: No sir, it isn't literal. Genesis was written by Moses, who as a prophet, was allowed a peek into the past in his encounter with God and he wrote down what he saw.
Moses was not born in Genesis times. He was not there. He is a prophet. Many times prophecy is not literal. It's a lot like John in the book of Revelation writing about heaven and the future. He is writing about something his mind cannot fathom and so speaks mostly in metaphors. Same thing with Nostradamus writings - mostly metaphors. It is the same with Moses' writing in Genesis. Well, here's what Genesis actually says: 3 And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. 4 God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness. 5 God called the light “day,” and the darkness he called “night.” And there was evening, and there was morning—the first day. 29 Then God said, “I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. 30 And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds in the sky and all the creatures that move along the ground—everything that has the breath of life in it—I give every green plant for food.” And it was so. 31 God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning—the sixth day. Yet you say we should jettison the actual acount for a pre-reasoned interpretation that "day" here isn't literal. Well, I guess that's one way of looking at things - interpreting instead of reading. But answer this then. God made Adam on the 6th day (which is 1,000 years). God blessed Adam on the seventh day, his rest day, (which is another 1,000 years). God later took things further and made a woman for Adam - presumably on the eighth day because nothing suggests the seventh haden't ended. So how come Adam lived for only 930 years? |
Science/Technology › Re: Earth Was A 'Waterworld' Covered By A Global Ocean 3.2 Billion Years Ago by JuanDeDios: 10:59am On Mar 03, 2020 |
DeeMain: Geologic earth history and the biblical earth history are not contradictory of each other in my view.
The 6 days of creation in the bible, for example, could have happened over billions of years. And there were times when the world was covered with water in the biblical narrative and later when sea creatures filled the seas, long before man was created.
So don't take the number of days literally.
A thousand years in your sight are like a day that has just gone by, or like a watch in the night. Psalms 90:4 The Genesis account does appear to contain some insights. However, it does contain a few errors, and the timeline is only one of them. I don't think Ps 90:4 applies to the Genesis creation story because Genesis specifically says the days were literal. |

hisexcellency34: That was what the Bible said In Genesis chapter 1 Yes. It appears whoever wrote Genesis had some insight. His/their only error was the timing. It appears he/they could not think far back so they placed it all at a few thousand years back. |
