kunlewoye: I quite agree with that! Justwise, jst so you know. You HAVE been of help to so many, myself inclusive. Thank you!!
Justwise has said it all.
@all rather than give any money to agents, send it to justwise.

Just get numbers 1-3 on your list and submit it.
Make sure your documents are GENINUE. Any mistakes(dob, name spelling) get an official document(affidavit which should be notarized ) to back you up and make sure you specify the mistake in your form.
Thanks guys, we all here to help each other.

shemy: I am about applying for visa,at what stage do i go for the biometric text?.I stay in port harcourt and need to know whether you do all at the same time. Also , my husband is my sponsor and he is providing his bank statements, we intend paying for school fees soonest and to pay for accomodation for the first term, apart from the maintenance fee, what other fee should we prepare for?
You will give your biometric details during submission.The maintenance money covers all, that £9000(London) or £7200(outside London) is all you need to show. If you want to pay for accommodation just deposit £1000 and make sure that it stated in your CAS.

dilahel: You guys are doing a fantastic job here. After reading through the thread I did learn a lot about filling the uk visa application and I got my visa yesterday,after been denial a visa in 2010. I want to say a big thank you to Justwise who replied me when I asked for help. This is a tip to those who are going to visit a family member in the uk but staying in a hotel, do fill the general visit form and not the family visit form, I made the same mistake when filling my application and wasted close to an hour and half because of that mistake at the visa application centre.
Congratulations, enjoy ur trip.

Phemmyrans: justwise,Good afternoon in here, i am just signing in here newly, pls,i need an advise on my Uk visa application, i have submitted 2weeks now,just today is the 10th working days,i do track it everyday,but the response is that it has been forwarded to BHC, they havent contact my friend who is inviting me,also my office,pls,what could cause that,advise me on what to do,my leave starts on july 5.
They don't need to contact your friend or your company, they only do that if your application looks suspicious.
Some people get their visa after 3wks, some a month, so its still too early to start worrying.

Family migration changes announced - updated

13 June 2012

On 11 June 2012 the Government announced changes to the Immigration Rules for non-European Economic Area (non-EEA) nationals applying to enter or remain in the UK on the family migration route. The new Immigration Rules will also unify consideration under the rules and Article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights, by defining the basis on which a person can enter or remain in the UK on the basis of their family or private life.

Today (13 June 2012) rules have been laid in Parliament which will bring these changes into effect, along with an impact assessment, a policy equality statement and a statement on the compatibility of the rules with Article 8.

Most of these changes will apply to new applicants from 9 July 2012.

The changes are part of the Government's programme of reform of the immigration routes and follow wide consultation and expert advice from the Migration Advisory Committee. The changes include:

introducing a new minimum income threshold of £18,600 for sponsoring the settlement in the UK of a spouse or partner, or fiancé(e) or proposed civil partner of non-European Economic Area (EEA) nationality, with a higher threshold for any children also sponsored; £22,400 for one child and an additional £2,400 for each further child;
publishing, in casework guidance, a list of factors associated with genuine and non-genuine relationships, to help UK Border Agency caseworkers to focus on these issues;
extending the minimum probationary period for settlement for non-EEA spouses andpartners from two years to five years, to test the genuineness of the relationship;
abolishing immediate settlement for the migrant spouses and partner where a couple have been living together overseas for at least 4 years, and requiring them to complete a 5 year probationary period;
from October 2013, requiring all applicants for settlement to pass the Life in the UK Test and present an English language speaking and listening qualification at B1 level or above of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages unless they are exempt;
allowing adult and elderly dependants to settle in the UK only where they can demonstrate that, as a result of age, illness or disability, they require a level of long-term personal care that can only be provided by a relative in the UK, and requiring them to apply from overseas rather than switch in the UK from another category, for example as a visitor; and
restricting family visit visa appeals, initially by narrowing the current definitions of family and sponsor for appeal purposes, and then, subject to the passage of the Crime and Courts Bill, which was published on 11 May 2012, removing the full right of appeal against refusal of a family visit visa.

For more information about the changes that are being introduced and details of transitional arrangements, please see the Statement of Changes to the Immigration rules (HC 194), the Explanatory Memorandum, impact assessment, the policy equality statement and European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) memorandum on the right side of this page.
Big blow to sham marriage.

Why do you keep re-posting the same thing? They have responded to your post but you ignored their questions and keep posting the same thing over and over again.

Yes i have my CAS The school gave me my cas without paying one kobo
And on my Cas the only document stated was my BSC certificate
Is there any means to confirm if my CAS is original because giving one CAS without paying any money is wounderful
Where is your school located? Inside or outside London? Do you have your CAS?
That is Cranfield University in Bedfordshire, yes some schools do give CAS without deposit.

You need to have £7200 (maintenance money) plus all your school fees in your account for 28days before applying for visa.

These two links have all the info you need for completing the visa application form and documents you need.

tayorh2: Thank so much Justwise. U're a life saver. I'do that ASAP.Enjoy ur day.
Take your time and write the letter. . . . that 5yrs ago you broke immigration law by. . . . . . you explain what happened. . . that you are not writing to depend yourself but to know what your immigration status is since the 10yrs ban wasn't in place 5yrs ago when you committed the offence.

tayorh2: the reason they gave was that my reason for applying for a student visa did not add up cos the solicitor that compiled the documents in the UK changed the letter for the university admission letter saying, the first school later merged with another school and later school was not even in my line of study. ( Institute of technology, while I wanted to study business admin) (2)that I tampered with my passport.ie there was a backdated stamp on my passport which truly did not add up since really did overstay. But I told them I panicked cos I overstayed and was misled by a immigration staff at the point of entry who convinced me that he could put any date I wanted on my passport for me. So I did disclose that I overstayed, I just could not explain myself properly during the interview cos of all the complications. Plus, after I was refused, I was so destabilized that I forget all the papers they gave me on the public bus. I know... its really messy. Any help will be much appreciated. thanx.
This explains my hatred for 'agents', you have broken every possible immigration law.

The 10yrs ban is not in place by 2007, so i don't know the ban you are under at the moment.

One of the ways out is to apply and be completely honest with all your immigration crimes just to know what your case is, OR you email BH and ask to know if you are banned from entry the UK, that email or letter should contain your immigration history, what happened then, passport number and full name. If you get a reply then you will know if the ban has expired or you still have 5yrs to go.

You can type the letter, print it out and address it to the ECO.

tayorh2: Hello Justwise, Could you please give me help me with this. I once overstayed my visit in the UK and was refused entry to return in 2007, a month later, I applied for a student visa to study there and was refused again. I've not applied again since then. My parents now reside in the UK legally and I am now married and my husband is a greencard holder in th US. My parents want to invite us over to the UK as a wedding present for a 2wks holiday, they are both sponsoring my trip from lagos while my husband will join me there. If I can prove that I've obtained a degree in Nigeria after the refusal and currently in my service year, plus I got married last month. Do you think I'll be granted a visit to the UK?
Many thanks
What was the reason they gave for the two refusals? Please this is important. . when you applied in 2007 did you disclose that you overstayed your visa?
hello,
just to say thank you so much, got some very good advise prior to my "interview" at the Nigerian embassy in london this week. It was not much of an interview. More like checking if you had the right documents for a Nigerian passport. we got there 8:30AM and were done by 1PM. Going back next week to collect the passports smiley!

Process was painless(I suppose I had prepared for the worst!). The queues moved fast and orderly, considering they deal with new applications, visa applications, collection of passport and everything else in between!.

I was pleasantly surprised! One thing though, although the website does mentions 2 passport sized photographs, this is not needed as you will still have your picture taken as part of the process. Also do read the entries CAREFULLY before they hit the submit button. Failure to do so will invalidate your new passport and you will have to pay $65 and start the process all over again...I observed some very interesing and unhappy exchanges of words. Not sure if this is useful to anyone: but if you plan to revert to your maiden name(for the ladies now) there is an additional charge of £40 postal order, marriage certificate and divorce certficate....I was eaveasdropping tongue...erm..thats all really. Just thought someone may benefit from my experience...Tara for now
Thanks for coming back with this update, glad it went well for you.

stannydon: I think most of you are talking rubbish. What do you mean that Obama is empty? Obama inherited the economy`s economic crisis and has worked hard to stabilize it. Was it not bush who destroyed the economy by going into war with Afghanistan and other countries like Irag and Iran. Checkout for details before writing. What is wrong giving work permit to people who have lived and socialized in a particular place for a long period? I think some of you are being myopic.

it affects student visa big time, but if you are married to a British or EU citizen and apply for spouse visa then you stand a chance.
