Please, I intend travelling to UK tonight and would like to know if presenting a Nigerian passport is required by immigration at the airport.
I ask because I don't own a Nigerian passport ATM. A new one is still in process as the one i had got missing over a year ago. I have an old Nigerian passport and an international driver's license issued here. Will that suffice, thanks! Congratulations! Glad it pans out well, just present your British passport when you get to immigration, they wouldn’t stop you from boarding. Get your Nigerian passport though because it makes things easier when visiting Nigeria. |

Travelforum: Hello guys,
So I want to travel on a tourist visa to the UK, I work and have money paid by my employer into my account every month. My worry is my sister has been paying some money into my account and this is different from my salary from work. Before my father died he owned houses so when he died the houses were taken over by my sister and I and we rented out to tenants. So this is where this money my sister pays comes from, how do I show to the visa officer that this money from my sister comes from rents?
Please note that I only have one sibling and that is my sister so there was no will or anything from my father, we just took over the property after he died so no documents to show we both own the houses except for one land that he already put our names on a long time ago. You have to explain it and if there's rent receipts you can attach it but you have to make sure that you give detailed information about money paid into your account that is not your salary |

I couldn't stop shaking my head reading some posts here..some saying ..you are not going there to pay her loan..American woman are independent..loan of $150K is not a big deal.
I'm not sure many of you here have had real life experience with loan or living with someone who is debit ridden..this is like living with a drug addict. for anyone to accumulate debit amounting to 50K that person is financially irresponsible and can not manage well .
If you married such person your salary will be going into either helping her service the interest or carry all the household financial responsibilities while her salary goes into loan repayment, you can kiss goodbye to any idea of sending money home and investing in Nigeria. |

Blastedholligan: There's this sweet Akata I met on fb, we are getting along well and she's thinking we could spend our lives together. She's a single mother of one, older than me with one year and a medical assistant. Now the problem is, she doesn't really earn too much and she has accumulated alot of loans that could amount to 50k dols and she wants to acquire another to study at the University for 4years, calculating all these could amount to like 150k dols and I've not even talked about my own cos I'll have to sponsor myself through school. Another issue is that I don't think I'm really ready to settle down cos I really need to hustle and make money to help my family if I eventually travel before marrying and I intend on doing a course here in Nigeria for Digital Marketing to help me secure a nice job. My problem now is, I'm scared of marrying someone who has acquired these loans cos Las Las na me go still follow pay wetin I no sabi. Please, I need a clear guide on what I should do cos I don't wanna be selfish here with her by using her to get to the USA, I'm very willing to let go of her if I have very good reasons to.
Pardon my scattered words.

I picked you my passport today with 6 months visa. This was my second application. My first application came back with a refusal letter with the claim that my fix deposit is in doubt and how I accumulated such wealth.
As advised by justice and co, I addressed that section by providing answers to how I got the money although I have an unregistered business which makes up 70% of my fund, I just told them is it a side business and I provided receipts, invoices and legal commission agreement with the company. ( Note: I addressed my denial on the extra section of the application form and cover letter. Also, note that my employer does not pay money into my account. We receive salaries by hand).
Biometric- 1st July DMC mail- 15nd July VAC mail - 17th July DHL pass- 20th July
6 months Visa issued.
Thanks Congratulations!! |

For the self employed are there other documents she needs apart from p60, tax and statement of account.

Adjo10: Obviously you don’t understand what the word “fraudulent” means and you are fraudulently abusing a word you have no idea about. Educate yourself my fraudulent friend lol Adjo10: Nice one Oluwo1. The secret is to get an Airbnb host that speaks english. You can easily do this by filtering “English hosts” on the Airbnb website or app. Your host will help answer most of your questions and even help you find a Nany. Brazilians are very nice and helpful in general. Airbnb hosts are even super nice.
Even though there is generally nothing wrong with giving birth in Brazil, i will highly suggest you wear clothing to cover the pregnancy. Brazilian airports have special rolls for pregnant women and old people. Do not join that roll. Join the regular one. Preferably travel with your partner and let him distract immigration by taking care of the immigration procedures at the airport for you. I have never heard of someone being refused entry because of pregnancy but you don’t also want to go around the airport advertising it.
I am sure you will do just fine. Keep the end goal in mind and you will sit down one day with a big smile on your face every time you look at your child.
All the best. Next time you use this thread to coach people on how to cheat their way into Brazil your ID will be suspended. Whether you or your supporters like it or not this is fraudulent way of doing things and it has to stop. |

Livlivuk: Hi Justwise,
Huge thanks for your response. I am planning to resubmit today and please see below the documents I am hoping to attach. I hope it is not overkill.
1. In the question "How much money are you planning to spend on your visit to the UK?". I am still confused on what to write because the last application, I wrote £1500 and they assumed that was the amount of money my Mum wanted to spend which obviously was not in her account even though on the next question "Will anyone be paying towards the cost of your visit?" we said Yes and included my husband's details and added the cost of £1500. It appears they want us to say £0 for the first question. The question does not make it clear that it is asking what the cost of the trip is to the applicant. The form does not allow you put £0 so I have put £10 for my Mum and then £1500 under the sponsor part. Is this sensible? 2. Mum's Bank Statement and I have highlighted all the transactions of money I send to her in case ECO cannot see well. 3. Tenancy Agreement to show my Mum lives with my sister in Lagos Nigeria 4. My sister's passport. (should she include a cover letter stating my Mum lives with her and should she add her employment stuff, etc? or not). 5. My UK Current Bank Account and Payslip to show the origin of funds I send to her. I have also highlighted these transactions. 6. My GTB Bank Statement showing transfers to my Mum (I highlighted them). 7. My Azimo receipts (to show how I transfer the money from my UK account to GTB account and then to my Mum's account). 8. SU07 Sponsorship Letter 9. Letter of Invitation from husband as sponsor. 10. My husband's 6 month's bank statement and payslip including Savings Account which has the funds for sponsoring her (over £10k) 11. Mortgage and Title Deeds 12. Utility Bill 13. My Birth Certificate 15. My Marriage Certificate 16. Husband and I's Passport and BRP 17. Cover Letter explaining and addressing their refusal points which was just on finances, etc. Should I include that my Mum has no intention to stay beyond her 3 weeks because she will be lonely as my sister will have gone back and husband and I work full time and we don't have kids. My Mum does not have any friends or family here so I don't know what they think she will be doing. She is 67 and does not even work. 18. Should my sister include a cover letter? 19. I am planning to include photos of my Mum with my siblings and her sister to show she has ties to Nigeria.
Thank you so much for your help. I intend to submit tonight and upload documents on Saturday. She will do walk in on 22nd July by God's grace and the wait begins. I need all of God's help to prevent them from ruining our well planned summer. 1.Since you and your husband are paying for everything then put zero there because she will not be paying a penny towards the trip then on the question.."Will anyone be paying towards the cost of your visit? select yes, your cover letter will explain all the details. Your mum is visiting you so she doesn't need to show spending money etc You can include every other things in that list |

LuvlyIva: Many thanks but how can we explain such mistake? The mistake is a terrible one with so much complications bc the visa application asked if you have any family in the UK. I said no in my visiting visa application, whereas my wife is my family. Honestly I am really regretting this mistake. My wife lawyer said she will write in a cover letter that we were married bf and sperated bc my wife abadoned me and I decided to call off the marriage but now we met and reconciled. How do u see the story? Does it look genuine to u? Is there any instance like that? Does it carry weight at all?
We don't have kids yet for me to do the family life. Me and wife are still trying for babes. Bros you have a lot to deal with here, lying in your application form carries 10yrs ban, you need a miracle to get the next visa without refusal. That so called lawyer will make things even more difficult for you with that lies she promised to cook up for you. You have two options here.. 1.Return back to Nigeria and apply for spouse visa ( yes you are likely to be refused) and come out clean with all the lies and apologies, if you are given bingo! but if you are refused you reapply on a clean note knowing fully well that you have nothing more to hide. This is going to cost you at least 5M naira so you need have that at the back of your mind. Going through self employment route is not difficult since your wife does her tax return through an accountant, those category A,B,C.. you saw are all different ways of meeting spouse visa financial requirements. Fiancé visa will cost you almost the same as spouse visa and documents needed are similar, so if you are going through that route then get ready for heavy financial investment. 2. Stay back in the UK and go through the child-family life route, pray and fast for miracle to happen in years time(I will never suggest this route). This could drag on for years and could put a strain on your marriage. Finally Stay away from dodge immigration lawyers like the one your wife has, she is not a responsible lawyer. |

DMainMan: Yes there is but still fall under same category of same body of family visa. Talking of different category
https://www.gov.uk/uk-family-visa/partner-spouse
If you’re applying as a fiancé, fiancée or proposed civil partner
You must prove that:
any previous marriages or civil partnerships have ended you plan to marry or become civil partners within 6 months of arriving in the UK
You will not be able to work during your engagement.
That is not the point, there is something called fiancé visa, that is the whole point of the argument. |
Travel › Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 4 by justwise(mod): 9:46pm On Jul 19, 2019 |
DMainMan: There is nothing like fiance visa. It is spousal visa.
You cannot apply for spousal visa with marriage visitor visa.
Another option to do is for you to apply as a student and get Tier 4 General student visa.
With the Tier 4 visa, you can marry in the UK and apply for spousal visa.
Good luck. There is.. |

I stated I will stay for three weeks. I have stayed one month now. I am contemplating leaving soonest to Nigeria. I am not overstaying again, not an easy life overstaying in UK. Just that my wife keep saying that when we have kids I will get papers quickly but I wish to stay legal now. I have to leave to get soln quick to join her . Village people are talking through your wife, she doesn't know what that process involves.Once you overstayed that visa + lying in your application form..when it comes to applying for a stay your crime book will be opened. Avoid making things even more difficult as its. Lawyers will pay mortgage on your head and while all these are going on you are not allowed to work |

LuvlyIva: Hello good people of nairaland . I am new to this forum, it is through search to my problem I got this forum. I and my wife is confused and in big dilemma right now. We need advice and suggestions what we can do to solve the problem we are in right now. We never knew that this problem will come up like this and never knew that my wife will get idenfite leave this soonest. We lost hope on it. lawyers are charging us alot to solve the problem. (£1400)My wife is based in the UK. In 2013 she came to Nigeria we got married in court and did small traditional marriage .Then my wife spent three weeks bf she left UK and promise to fille spouse visa for me but my wife was refused indenfite leave two times in 2015&2017. I got frustrated staying alone ,so my family was contemplating calling off the marriage bc they need grand kids and me too need to settle down. I was also refused visiting visa twice bf I got married. So I re-applied again for visiting visa this May 2019 through an agent and the agent advice that I put single in the application instead of married. The reason the agent put single is that he said that home office will denied my visa application if I write that my wife stays in the UK and homeoffice will refuse it bc they might think I will not like to come bk again. So I agree to what the agent said, we put single. I got the visiting visa and travel around June. And also I and my wife deceided that I will not come bk bc my wife av been trying to conceive. My wife put in for her papers again, To the glory of God my wife was given Indenfite leave just yesterday .But the problem now is that i wrote I was single in my visiting visa application. Please house can my wife still apply for spouse visa for me using our previous court marriage certificate? Will the visa be denied bc of saying I was single in my visiting visa application? If my wife explain to ECO in cover letter will they give me spouse visa? Should I come back to Nigeria and apply for marriage visa, so that we can remarry again in the UK and then I go bk to Nigeria and the spouse visa will be filled? We spoke to my wife lawyer she said we can apply for spouse visa but need to explain all in cover letter to ECO why I decided to put single in my visiting visa application. Please I need suggestions and advise from the house. I and my wife are in serious dilemma. Please I will appreciate advice to this situation or suggestions on what can be done. Or is there any body that have lied in visa application and apologize and got visa? I really need to be with my wife so that we can start making babes. Thanks you. Chances of refusal is high but you must come out clean and hope for the best, if the ECO forgives you for telling the truth then great but don't be surprised if you are refused. Another thing is..did you overstayed the visiting visa? How many weeks/months did you say you will stay and how long have you stayed now? |
