fatima04: Hmmn, it is not a lie as it is being treated here. When I was filling this form my interpretation of the question is "is the dependant coming with you to the UK" simply because the superceding explanation states this" is to enable you put in their passport information details for when your dependant applies" which they will have to fill an independent application.
I believe this is just for verification purposes only to match up the details of the principal and dependants
When filling for Tier 2 with dependants you want to be careful, especially when the COS covers them for fund maintenance requirement.
For example, when applying for NI, a question asks where was your visa issued (my BRP clearly states UK) but in reality DWP wants you to choose Nigeria. When my friend assumed differently and chose UK, he got called in for an interview for a false misinterpretation.
This is in no way trying to justifying lying on applications/ang scenario because it just complicates your life out in tying loose ends. Asking a question for clarification is different from asking to know if you can get away with lies. |

connectgt: Let me add my contribution to this issue. I am not in UK, but still searching for an opportunity to leave naija.
@Aphrodite007 said is correct. I got to know about this while researching for ways to travel. Please, read the Premium times news paper for July 24, 2019 with the link below:
https://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/headlines/342672-nigeria-introduces-new-federal-marriage-certificate.htmlquote author=Aphrodite007 post=80488321]
I am not sure how correct this is. Before 2018 the embassies received all wedding certificates both local and federal. But there was a circular in the newspapers that the embassies are only going to recognise federal.
I didn’t want to test the waters with my own spousal visa so I just went to a federal court and did mine to avoid stories that touch. So unless someone that did their spousal visa in 2018 says that they used their local govt wedding cert, I think it’s best to just do the federal. This is not true, the UK embassy in Nigeria accepts marriage certificate from local registry and a family member used the local one to get spouse visa just last year. |

Thanks for taking time out of your busy schedule to assist with information on this issue. Including the negative comments. Someone even called me a bloody liar! Well, the update is that I was prevented from boarding by Nigerian immigration till I paid money. Presently, boarding my flight to UK.
Thanks again all! Bloody criminals! If you had refused to pay and created a scene they would have allowed you to board. Enjoy your flight. |

Advertising keeee ?? Haaaahaaaaa. The person asked question which I thought I could help. I don't know bymafit CEO not to talk of working there so how come would I be advertising for them. I did my registration there and someone was asking where he/she could do Same registration. I'm not advertising oooo. How does that even sound like an advertisement?
Even if you did not feel good about it and you wanted to correct it, you could have said it in a polite way and not the way you said it and threatened to ban me as if Nairaland is the only way to make heaven and the only way to paradise.
That statement was extremely awkward. Yes its an ad and you have done it 4times already. |

babyfaiz: You have done nothing wrong, I can tell you that 100%. There’s a ban on those who went for birth tourism by the Trump administration. They VO’s are working under the instructions of their superiors. Even if you paid, $20,000 your itemized bill will show a discount. Even figures quoted for insurance companies are subjected to discount. They have a list they’re working on, given to them by their superiors. The list shows the average price for child birth in each state. If only your bill was around 12k, they would surly grant your visas. They are aware of the discounts by hospitals & they know you paid without using any governmental grant. However, they have to leverage on something to justify their denial. Trump doesn’t want birth tourism - period. If he has he way, he’ll abolish it with immediate effect. Measures are put in place to check birth tourism and one of it is the discount bills international patients receive. You can try again after some few and stick to the same story, you MIGHT be granted. There are no footprints to these things. Better still, wait till next year. U.S elections is around the corner. Some very few have been granted paying less but majority have been denied under the same circumstance. Next time when you are asked, if you got a discount, answer yes & let them know you didn’t request for it but was a standard by the hospital. Any patient that paid 12k and above have a very good chance for successful renewal. My advice is for you to wait till after 8 months after which you must have visited another country in between. Trump has no joy for Africans You are contradicting yourself, if you are 100% sure about the ban why then will they give her a visa at the same time? |

Simple I think its necessary because the action of one person affect all of us, we should call it out each time somebody come out publicly seeking for a way to circumvent a system. Sometimes we Nigerians take extraordinary step to do the wrong thing even when doing the right thing is easier. |

I cant help though poster. I dont think it ll reduce the cost of the visa so just answer no and jump and pass. Tier 2 visa are usually walk overs anyway as they need your tax to finance f***ing brexit That makes it ok? So what do we do? Condemn it or normalise it because its not exclusive to Nigerians? |

kamee: hello house, so i went to to renew my visa by drop box but i and my family (myself, hubby, and 2 daughters but the last is a citizen and ther was no one to leave her with) but we were asked to reschedule and appear. so fast forward to the vo asking question
VO - where are you going in the us and why WE - florida for holiday about 2-3 weeks VO - what do you do I - business and explains VO - faces hubby with same question HUBBY - work at a corporate office with detail VO - types and starts murmuring looks like he couldn't find any error on our document VO- turns to the baby and ask why she was not an applicant I - she's a citizen vo - can i have your receipts and did you inform the embassy of your intent we - yes we did and handed the intent later along side receipt and told him a total of $7500 bill was fully paid vo - so you got a discount we - no we did not, there's a zero bal inside the envelope stating we paid all there was VO - why did you get a discount I - was furious but kept my cool and said againg that there was no discount VO - kept insisting about the discount (infact mention it 3 times) like his mind was made up about the discount and asked what state we had the child VO - looks up and said NJ birthing bill was usually $17,000 so paying $7,500 was dicounted VO - -hands over the blue paper
you see, all we incured including uber, housing, feeding, scan, blood works etc was totalling $15,000. should we have added all these expenses as birthing?. When the hospital billed us as self payfor 2 nights should i have asked them to increase my bill? I really need closure to this rejection. if he had said that we did not make our intent clear from the time of application, that would have been understood. Hubby says we should move on and try uk cos we want to take the kids on vaca but i want to explore the usa more since that is where my business is sourced from. and i also feel that if we do not clear the air about this discount, we would keep facing it or what do you think guys? Do we stand a chance if we re-apply? If you add scan and blood work how much will it come up to? Uber, housing and feeding are not part of it |
Travel › Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 6 by justwise(mod): 8:20pm On Jul 25, 2019 |
Vlesparza: Get a letter from the doctor and hospital stating that the price is available to all non-insured self-paying patients (not just international). The letter should also state no govt funds (Medicaid) are used. This would contradict what the officer is saying and would be from the doctor and the hospital, which they can always call to verify (but usually they don't want to know so they don't call). If you are rejected afterward you will know it's bureaucratic racism, and not the "discounted price" some use as an excuse. In this sense, you would be in a position to do something legal if you wanted to.
The best advice is to go prepared with both documents ahead of time, and if they use the "discounted price" line on you, you have official documentation that states the contrary in the moment of the interview. Always, know the documentation you are carrying to the interview and don't just wait until they ask for it if they start to reject you for that reason. Best wishes. Waste of money and time, you can't sue any embassy just because they refused you a visa. |

iampistis: @justwise and others...help me in finding peace of mind. I laminated all my certificates since 7 years ago but recently checked the certificates where I kept them and discovered that the lamination has reacted on my bachelor degree certificate (I don't know if this is a chemical reaction or not) but some few words have faded. I had to remove to lamination from that particular side in order to save my certificate but still half of my certificate is still laminated. My other certificates (WAEC, NYSC and birth certificates) are in good condition. If I go for documents submission, hope this won't affect my visa issuance? Though, my name and other things are still bold on the certificate. I have an original copy of my transcript too but I'm just scared about the condition of my certificate. I hope to get a prompt reply. Thanks Can't you get it reissued? |

hosey: Did you win the NTU International scholarship or Postgraduate Masters scholarship? Did you apply for Nigeria High Achievers Award scholarship as seen here: https://www.ntu.ac.uk/international/meet-us-in-your-country/visit-schedule-by-country/africa/nigeria ?
Note that in addition to your own Tier 4 visa requirement, tuition fee and your maintenance fund, you must also have the maintenance fund of your dependant. If you want to bring one dependant, this is what you need:
Tuition: 14500 minus 2000: 12500 pounds Maintenance: NTU is outside london, so 9135 pounds (If inside London, you will need £11385) Dependant: NTU is outside london hence 6120 pounds (If inside London, you will need £7,605)
Total amount needed in your account since NTU is outside London is: 27755 pounds. You must keep that amount in your account for 28 days before you can apply for visa. Since you have paid part payment of 6,000 pounds, hence you must keep £21,755 in your account for 28 days. Make sure you tell them you have made part payment and explain explicitly your application.
5. Check currency fluctuation here: https://www1.oanda.com/currency/converter/
6. Good. You can do TB test now. It lasts for 6 months. But before you apply for visa, make sure all the above is correct
7. Not really. Why not? |

kress2m1: If it was posted to you in Naija by a family member, it's actually illegal and you may encounter issues when you attempt to fly with it. I've witnessed individuals where the passport was seized and destroyed by the British Consulate.
Best thing, get a Naija passport, when you're leaving Naija, present Naija passport, when you arrive in the UK, present British pali.
Now, on arrival at the UK, you can either scan your passport at the e-reader or be called to the immigration desk, depending on how busy it is.
If it is the first, all good, if it is the second, you just need to be careful how you answer the questions posed to you. Examples. If asked is this your first time in the UK and you say yes, red flag don go up be dat. Passport will be seen as issued in the UK and here you are travelling in with it for the first time outside the UK.
Just give brief responses, like, you went on holiday, visited family, going back home. Where is home? London. Where specifically? Get your family to give you details and memorise them. If they can give you some small British pounds and coins to hold, even better.
Do you have a job in the UK? No. Applications are ongoing. Waiting to hear back from them.
Lesson don end There's no need writing this long story because he doesn't need it. If you apply for British passport from Nigeria it could be posted to you from anywhere, that is not your problem as you don't choose where your passport will be issued. |
