WellEndowed: I beg to differ again . A resident permit for some countries can be issued regardless of if the person has left the country to visit say Naija or not.
Some countries do not mind as long as that person hasn't spent a maximum of 90 days for each travel/year e.t.c Example of such country is? |

hello just to share the good news with you that the decision to refuse husband's visa has been overturned today and he has been asked to send in his passport and TB test certificate. Thanks so much for your help and advise. You are doing a great job on here. you would not believe is thanks to you that I gathered the courage to contact my MP as my solicitor refused that it was not a good idea to contact MP and I did all my paper work my self and sent to the Home office and the MP.
thanks so much I am so over the moon. Honestly some of these solicitors are goats just wanting to eat peoples money because he wanted my case to go to court so he could represent me and make money but I have a law qualification and worked with a law firm for years so did my paper work alone. they got paper work two days ago and overturned the decision today. thanks once more and may god bless you Awwww!!! I can only imagine how over joyed you are right now, I'm so so happy for you. The worries and waiting are over. Congratulations! And my regards to your hubby |

claremont: I'm abstaining on this vote. I can't seem to make up my mind whether to vote leave or remain, they both have advantages and disadvantages. I have been a life-long Labour party supporter, but on this occasion, I just don't trust what these political parties tell us. I was going to vote remain, but the mere fact that dodgy Dave is on the remain side has made me withhold my vote, I can't vote leave either because UKIP is championing the leave vote. I wasn't going to vote at all before but the more I watch Nigel Farage going on about immigration with every opportunity given the more I want to vote to remain. Remember UKIP is all about ant-immigration and nothing else so voting to leave is a victory for UKIP. I can't stand dodgy Dave but this goes beyond that now. |

BarrEgo: Good morning. I'm in a giving back mood today. This forum has helped in my journeys to study abroad. Thank you, Nairaland. Tips for those coming to UK and intending to work part time, you must do the following: 1. Call the National insurance service and request NI application forms , fill said forms and get them back to NI ASAP. They might call you and ask why you need it. Keep it simple and straight. Without NI number, getting a job is nigh impossible, as employers need that number to deduct income tax and national insurance contributions. You don't pay income tax for your first £11,000, though. 2. Get a bank acc with Lloyds or Barclays. Their requirements are less stringent and they're international students friendly. To do so visit the website of the bank you desire and fill the form for opening a classic acc, then visit the bank the next day with your identity docs, including Uni introduction, and proof of address. Without NI number and bank acc, you can't get a job. I hope this helps someone. Shalom. Nice one from you. How is Hull? Enjoying it so far? |

Captain12: Thanks all @ justwise for replying to my previous posts on UK vist visa refusal due to shoplifting offence.
I feel very bad I did this mistake and now I can't take my little kid to UK because his visa got aporoved but mine is refused coz of my mistake made in 2012.
I have done shoplifting in 2012 dec and was in police station for 3 hours and then was back home without paying any amout/charge.. honestly accepted my mistake and that was the first and last time I did a offence. I am planning to apply for deletion of my record ..got a link where i can apply.
Please read the below info attached from the police and advice me if I am eligible to send application for this. I have gone through the link and yes it seems that you are eligible to apply but nobody knows what the process and time will be. Another thing is this...that record will not be removed from your immigration profile only on police crime database so deleting it now for immigration purposes is too late. |

DisGuy: Apparently if UK vote to leave; the price of houses will crash!!
Then i can afford a decent place init!!!!
Think im gonna vote out just for the sake of it, I wanna hear who UKIP and co will blame next for any other issue I'm voting to remain. I can't afford to allow wealth politicians to ruin my future free movement. Whatever happens to the economy if we vote to leave those politicians will be fine, they have houses and connections for next job. Vote to leave will not solve immigration problem because a lot has entered a Ready and they can't stop illegal immigrants |

Avalon316: Hi justwise-,
What if the balance is just 1.3m but I personally have the money for my tuition, 1000 Canadian dollars for books and the compulsory 10,0000 Canadian dollars for my upkeep? I still used my cousin as my co sponsor just to make my application stronger. In my sop ,I stated that he would contribute 10000 Canadian dollars to cater for my flight itinerary and other miscellaneous spending. Do you think his low statement of account will affect my application in any way? If you can afford to sponsor yourself then you don't need to include your cousin in it. There is nothing wrong with you sponsoring yourself. |

themusketeer: #180,000 using his exchange rate is not £195. it is £643 monthly. yearly is £7,714. and my expenses is about 2.2time's my monthly take home that is not even including my other earnings
I only submitted my truck registration papers that showed that it was a commercial truck. and I mentioned in the self introduction letter that I make money from it monthly. I didn't put it in the form. can I include it in my new application and show evidence ?
many thanks I see the mistake you were referring to but the issue you have here now is that you were refused because of other issue as well which you can't correct. Submitting truck registration papers alone is not enough because it does not indicate how it brings in money and how much |

themusketeer: good morning justwise,
when you say over budgeted what do you mean? am I spending too much or it doesn't commensurate with my earnings?
I earn 180k after tax. also have a delivery truck that gives around 80k monthly.
I intend applying again next week to point out that they made mistake in assessing my application that 180k was monthly as against the yearly the ECO assumed. i also intend to explain that i was wrongly advised by a solicitor I used in the UK who said FLR on compassionate ground was the only way out if I wanted to finish my degree.
any chance scaling through? There is no mistake there as the Eco stated that it's a monthly pay. Did submit documents to support your additional earnings? You can't blame the solicitor because you approached him and it was your decision to take that route. |

themusketeer: hello everyone, @justwise
please advise.
I went to the UK in 2012 on tier 4 visa. finished but couldn't graduate due to some owed tuition. I then applied for FLR on compassionate grounds to help me finish and continue further. I was refused. I appealed and was still refused. hence I voluntarily returned back nov 2014. almost two years after, I intend going for holiday for 10 days.
my condition now is:
I started work since April 2015, my monthly salary is now 180,000 after tax.
I have a truck that make roughly 80-100k monthly.
I have a partner and we have a daughter together.
I have a landed property too..
documents submitted
employment letter employement confirmation letter (after 6months) stating salary breakdown. introduction letter payslip tax clearance my commercial truck papers Lagos state dues etc of the truck. land reciept land agreement building plan child birth certificate shares certificate bank statement showing #1,290,000 bank introduction letter.
in the salary section, I filled 180k after tax but the ECO calculated as my yearly salary after which I included my offer letter/employment letter stating that I earn 192,000 pre tax. and my payslip says 180k monthly after tax.
I was refused on paragraph 4.2 (a) & (e ). 1.The application you made in the UK using human right act really damaged your reputation with ukba. 2. Your recent application was over budgeted and above your income |

Inova: I wonder why you hv come here to seek the opinions of kids that hv access to internet. Nairaland has been invaded by toddlers that do not hv any interest in constructive discussion. As for my opinion, Nigeria is a great place to be. Its just undergoing some restructuring which naturally causes few harsh conditions. This will fade away soon though You can come home to spend some time bonding with family. Career oportunities are also great here especially for those with experience both in and out of the country like you I presume. There are good schools where yiur kids can go to like Atlantic Hall, Chrisland etc. If your kids need to be in a tetiary institute, I will also advise you send them to a private instituion like Covenant univ, Babcok Univ etc Though power is still epileptic thanks to our brother in SS bombinng the gas facilities and thus poluting thir environs, you can still get youself an aparrment in an estate that will be responsible for provision of power like Osborne forshore estate in Ikoyi. This is not exhaustive but I believe it can help you in making an informed decision. I wish you well
Inova You called people who gave their opinions KIDS but here you are misleading the op. Nigeria is undergoing some restructuring ? Tell me when the reconstruction started. You are blaming power problem on SS bombing? Has Nigeria ever had a stable power supple? And when? |

cc:- mods kindly move this topic to front page so that I can get people's comment and post... thanks... Visa is just a family name for different types of permits that allows an individual to visit a foreign country, or to work, study, do business, live permanently etc... America classifies it into different categories: They have: A-1 visa for Foreign Government Officials: Ambassador, Public Minister, Career Diplomat or Consular Officer, or Immediate Family A-2 visa for Foreign Government Officials: Other Foreign Government Official or Employee, or Immediate Family A-3 visa ..down to V-3 visa with individual requirements and entitlements The UK classifies it into Tiers Tier 1 visa for Investor ,Entrepreneur , Graduate Entrepreneur and Exceptional Talent Tier 2 visa for Intra Company Transfers Tier 4 visa down to Tier 5 Then you have spouse visa, visitor visa etc Canada will call it study permit (F-1 visa for US or Tier 4 visa for the UK) Is like somebody telling you that he is a Dr or a lawyer and you asked what type of lawyer you will hear things like family lawyer, employment lawyer, business etc Work Permit can sometimes be called a visa e.g H-1B visa in US is a permit that is given to an individual in Specialty Occupation They have that type of visa/permit from H-1B, H-1B1 down to Q1 In the UK Tier 1 or Tier 2 are all types of work permits and can also be called a visa. Resident permit is called different names in different countries..US-green card, the UK- Indefinite Leave to Remain and Canada PR(Resident permit) |

Bashir75: My brother i understand you because i live right here too. Nigeria is not as bad as Nigerians would make us believed. Things are changing,it might not be as fast as struggling Nigerians want but it surely changing. Nigerians who are at home thinking living in US or Europe is eldorado are joking. You can have all you desire it times of education and good life, clubbing. But socially is not worth it, your kids would grow up with some social vices like Lesbianism and gay are normal. Soon, there's transgender law in the offing , where man or woman who changed their sex for another to share same toilet and bathroom with your children be it male or female. Also, i have a friend who married a foreign wife and they have never deem to visit his family back home in Nigeria for decades. I have close family friend here in US, a Yourba man from Oyo who died last year and his children for the american wife(dead) are struggling to connect their father's family, begging to help them locate or find her father's family. I only assumed he was from OYO because of the tribal marks. So many things are wrong socially in spite of the good things of life but raising children to be responsible it difficult. Lastly, racism is raising it's ugly head more than ever, and there's no place like home. You can be set up for a crime,as prisons is privately owned and commercially in their stock exchange market. If your kids don't end up on the street with drugs, set up for jail, become nuisance drinking and gaming, or discriminate against in spite of his or her education, she can become gay or lesbians or baby mamas. In fact Nigerians is feeling the impact of globalization. If you can run a moderate business, build a moderate comfortable home in a secure place in Nigeria to raise your family. I will support you. Forgive my errors. You don't have those in Nigeria? |

I applied for UK visit visa....... if next time if I apply Visa with a cover letter mentioning about my offence in detail with evidence and also informing about my UK visa refusal .is there a change I can get Visa ?
Please god show me the right way.. I don't want to give up. I want to try a way out of this because am honest and I want my little son to see places with me. Shoplifting cost retailers £335m a year and customers pay the price, so you can't consider that a little offense and failed to disclose it in your application. Its a criminal offense as well as a breach of immigration law. Yes you can apply again with a letter of apology but the chances of sources is anybody's guess. You are also free to try other countries but you still have to disclose your UK visa refusal. |
