PalestianIsrael: Hi Elders,
Had to create a new account to hide my identity.
Need urgent advice. Domestic Violence.
I’m male based in UK. Wife and I have been having arguments/fights. Things have gotten physically unfortunately. I don’t initiate it. She says I trigger her by being on my own when we quarrel about couple issues or when I’m with my phone. She’s told me to leave the house. When I come back at night to sleep or when I’m using my phone/laptop around her, she will come and disturb me and start struggling with phone etc. She has smashed my phone. She has fought with me. Things are so bad she will bring out knives and say I should just stab her or use it to hurt her since my silence is “emotional stabbing” to her. Our physical struggles lead to bites, cuts etc. on each of us. I repeat, I keep running away or holding myself (absorbing slaps and knife pokes etc.)
Long story short, this has happened too much. At least 3 or more occasions. I no longer feel safe. I think we need to separate while things escalate to our families etc. for reconciliation/solution.
Challenge is: - we are on Tier 2 visa. I’m main applicant, she’s spouse. We both work. - newly weds, no kids - shame of failed marriage etc. - we share a flat. Our lease is up, we are just paying a rolling month on month. That can be cancelled with 30 days notice.
I need advice from Elders who have either experienced similar issues or know people that have. We bought have pictures of the injuries we inflicted to each other as ammunition if things escalate to police.
I’m really confused. Please help!!! You need to move out first befor somebody is killed. Both of you can still work things out but you have to do this from afar. |

abuhusna1: Your evidence is meaningless if you have cut a woman. Better talk to her heart to heart iron out your differences no perfect marriage just learn to compromise and accommodate her. The day you call it quit is the day she will plot your downfall in the uk and call police on you for domestic violence His evidence matters when there is violence on both sides. Not only women suffer violence in this country, men do as well but too ashamed to speak out. |

Taal17: I doubt the abuse of COS is their primary concern. People are willingly paying to get COS . Most of that cash paid isn't traceable to the specific care agency. Ppl probably paid middlemen and likely they paid the naira equivalent .
It's the optics of reducing net migration, as well as the news coverage of people with families stranded in the UK.selling ALL their properties move to the UK. That doesn't help the politics of the party next year.
if they were truly invested in stopping the abuse of COS care jobs they would do more than just remove COS license (which doesn't stop the care agency from operating). They won't cancel that category either not whilst NHS gan has shortage. I agree with you, this is just political campaign for next year general elections. If they genuinely want to stop the abuse of COS they start interviewing care visa applicants , demanding proof of those jobs they claimed they applied for. Demanding that care agencies guarantee foreign workers a certain number shifts per week on arrival. When these dubious care agencies are caught abusing COS don’t just remove their licenses they also need to hit their bank balance.. The current punishment is just a slap on the wrist. |

Taal17: From the paragraph shared , seems they are targeting health and care visas that don't have prerequisite qualifications. i.e care assistant jobs. Limiting those to no dependents allowed leaves them for single ppl, students in the UK and excludes migrant families. That answers to the political posture of reducing legal migration numbers. That will hardly stop the abuse of COS. |

Zahra29: Only for the health and care visa though:
In a further development, Home Office sources have confirmed reports that Braverman is supporting plans for foreign care workers with fewer qualifications to be blocked from bringing family members to the UK. She wants to tighten the rules for the health and care worker visa, which allows migrants to move to the UK to work in social care and bring dependants with them.
Braverman Is ready a dreamer, fewer qualification? Is that the almighty changes they are talking about? I guess more measures will be added. |

Schoolhike: Sorry do you mean they are proposing a new change to tier 2 dependent as well? Yes that is the word on the street, that is hardly a surprise though considering the attention COS has received recently. Could be good news to those here already. |

jedisco: Hehe... the prevalent notion of recent has been that in a free country, it's not the business of the government/others to decide or regulate what what sexual union or practice consenting adults engage in as far as it brings no harm to others. Always wondered why this does not apply to polygamy..
Consent does not preclude slavery or exploitation. The first rule on safeguarding. Poverty is the largest driver of vulnerability. You are getting things mixed up here, those working in care sector are not vulnerability adults, you could make that case for those they care for. |

maasoap: You are naive again to think that Abacha's family or Diezani are not enjoy their loot. I don't know your definition of enjoyment. Diezani particularly will be wearing electronic tag while waiting for court appearance, can not travel outside the Uk, at her age she is really not enjoying her loot. If she was in Nigeria she will be a free woman moving around freely. |

jedisco: I chose the words carefully- modern Britain, akin to slavery...
Many of the terms we have today- child abuse, sexual exploitation, gender discrimination have a much different definition to what they had 200yrs ago.
For someone local, who has a gamut of options, and knows the means to seek redress, care roles are another option. For some sponsored immigrant, many of whom paid several sums (yes I know not right) and have to stick with unreasonable constraints and an overhead tax, it is quite akin to slavish conditions. Sadly, their country may not offer them much better but after years of undergoing such here, they'd have an understanding.
Consent doesn't rule it out. That a person consents to being trafficked for sex or consents to polygamy or donating their organs for money or slavish conditions doesn't mean they are not victims Still a choice, they were not forced to apply for sponsorship, the concerpt of slavery can not apply in this situation |

jedisco: Tough job it is moreso parts like dom care and the working conditions in todays Britain is akin to slavery.
Always known the pay was minimum wage level. Recently, I got to know that Dom care workers are not paid for the time in transit. So you do a 12hr shift running aroud peoples houses (pets, dirt e.t.c) and only be paid for 8 hrs. Worse still, the clients/relatives many times are very entitled folks and offer a trail of insults. These carers are expected to remain calm and stomach these insults. Meanwhile someone stacking shelves in Aldi makes much more. Slavery? This is actually an insult to those who suffered and died during slavery. Slaves got no freedom or choice. They did not get paid for working in plantation or serving their masters or forced to work. Care work is a difficult job and under paid but liking it to slavery is far too hash . |

Gerrard59: He is a billionaire but did not generate his wealth from his dominant environment. Tonye Cole stays in Switzerland and returns to Nigeria for electioneering. If tomorrow he becomes a Swiss, should we technically consider him a European-made wealthy man whereas he did not generate his wealth from his dominant environment? That does not matter, billionaires make their money from all sorts including foreign sources but will be considered a billionaire in a country they live in. |

Gerrard59: Using Forbes and Bloomberg, no black billionaire in all of Europe. Adebayo Ogunlesi could have been one, but he is not a dollar billionaire. Meanwhile, there are substantial British-Indians and British-Pakistanis who are dollar billionaires. If a black billionaire is to emerge from Europe, the UK is the most likeliest of places. I don't see France or Italy producing such. I for Impossicant.
BTW, which kind entrepreneurship una wey dey UK dey do sef? E get why I talk say Nigerians are not entrepreneurial. Close to or more than 300K British-Nigerians in the UK, no billionaire. God bless the US sha. If capitalism didn't dey, e didn't dey. Have you heard about Mr Strive Masiyiwa? |

Gerrard59: Mathematically, it is appropriate for the wealthy to reside in their dominant environment. The wealthiest Japanese reside in Japan, ditto Chinese in China or Singaporeans in Singapore. Expecting your wealthiest folks to reside outside their dominant environment is an aberration. The tale that they won't get the level of respect abroad as at home is even more reason they remain in their dominant environment. Wealthy Chinese who relocate from Mainland China tend to move to Singapore or Hong Kong, where the majority look like them.
The mathematical reason is also why most black billionaires come from Africa, not the US or Europe (no black billionaire in all of Europe anyway). Sub-Saharan Africa is the home of black people. So, statistically, it should produce more black billionaires. Are you sure about that? |

Mind you some people can't do without house help. You can if you can afford it. |

pretty1986: Good evening My Boss,I really appreciate all your contribution in this wonderful family and may God continue to bless and give you wisdom to direct us.Pls sir I have this idea want to share with you and I want you to tell me if is feasible and advice me how best to apply it.My Wife is a Registered Nurse here in Nigeria, but want to relocate to uk to practice, but due to Nigeria is in Red list, which make it very difficult for Nigeria nurses to get job offer in uk while in Nigeria. Now,she is planning to get admission in a University in uk for Masters degree program in Public health which is a One year course,so that when she enter uk through study route with her NMCUK documents and write her OSEC in order to get UK Pin as a uk Registered Nurse, then she use it to get job in uk as a Nurse while studying.when she then finish her study, she will then switch to 2teir visa and get COS to bring her family.pls sir, what can you advise in this idea .I hope to hear from you Sir.Thanks Justwise. The red list thing was for agents and not for those applying directly to NHS Trusts, your wife should not give up applying, your plan B is also another good option if the money is there, coming in as a student and write her OSEC that will increase her chances of getting employed. Though bringing you over as her depedant will depend on the changes to Tier 2 visa to be announced before the end of the year. So lets wait and see if the changes will include restriction on family bringing in their dependants on Tier 2 visa |
