What if I told you that the command in the New Testament isn't even just 10%, but your whole life.

Tithe na beginner stage my brother.

See eh, there's a point you get to in your relationship with God and you eventually understand that your whole life and possessions belong to God.

I think you are still having issues because you think you are giving to Church. You don't see your giving as unto God.

I showed you 2 scriptures, 1 by Jesus and another referencing Jesus by Paul.

Mathew 23:23 Read in NLT version and Hebrews 7:8 also.

The church is the Body of Christ. Whatever we do in Faith is established in heaven.

I can't help your angst towards the CHURCH.

TITHE is for running the Kingdom projects and taking care of God's servants.

Let me ask you.... Has the Church shut down since you stopped TITHING? I assume you did tithe in the past.

People who understand are still TITHING.

AND YES TITHING is RECOGNISED and approved by JESUS.

It is neither an old or a new testament practise.

It is older than Abraham and Moses who are the bedrock of the old testament.

You don't pick 1 and leave the other.

Dear JUSTWISE People that genuinely TITHE do not complain.
Stay on point, i'm not interested in your long episode.

I ask you again..tell me anywhere in new testerment where Jesus Christ commanded today christains to pay 10% of their monthly income to the Church.

..and bytheway.. this is Matthew 23v23 you keep mentioning

Matthew 23:23
English Standard Version

23 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you tithe mint and dill and cumin, and have neglected the weightier matters of the law: justice and mercy and faithfulness. These you ought to have done, without neglecting the others.''

Where in that verse did Jesus commanded us to pay 10% of monthly?

rinzylee:
Ok I see your points which are very very valid.

Now let me try to do some explaining and I stand to be corrected and would appreciate any contribution too.

To start with, TITHING precedes Jesus Christ. It was even practised before Abraham came. So it is not a new testament or modern age fabrication. Infact Jesus made a very emphatic statement in Mathew 23:23 NLT translation "“What sorrow awaits you teachers of religious law and you Pharisees. Hypocrites! For you are careful to tithe even the tiniest income from your herb gardens, but you ignore the more important aspects of the law—justice, mercy, and faith. You should tithe, yes, but do not neglect the more important things.

As much as it is a command by God, I will also say that He will not kill Mr A or Mrs B if they default , but there are conditions He has put to the obedience of that COMMAND. Infact, every blessing or promise in scripture has a condition to experience it. Even SALVATION which is FREE is based on the condition of REPENTANCE and BELIEVING in the finished works of CHRIST.
Mentioning of Tithes and commandement to give are two different things. so i ask you this..

Tell me anywhere in New testerment where Jesus christ commanded today christains to give 10% of their income monthly to the church.

😂 😂....my brother...we will keep defending the FAITH. He will come around someday.

The question I always ask "what did Church do to you ?
Did anyone force you to pay TITHES or OFFERING or to SOW a SEED?

Why you dey drink paracetamol on top person headache?

Yet, if army man slap you for naija, you go shout sorry sir.....

But Las Las JUSTWISE and Lexusgs430 na my men o...highly cerebral homosapiens.
Yes you are forced to pay Tithes and offering, you are told that you will not make heaven if you don't pay, you are told that you are stealing from God if you ate your Tithes and offering, they falsely use Malachi 3:10 to deceived their members even when they know that Tithes got nothing to do with money and was not even paid monthly when it was practiced in old dispensation.

These Jesus factory owners will use all sorts of means to steal from members and still have the gut to call the name of God

Uncomfortable truth will always sound terrible.

Perhaps you didn't 'approach with your eyes wide open and senses on guard'. You have yourself to blame.

A church is a community of people with the same/similar beliefs and practices. There is nothing wrong in advising someone to seek help in a community be it religious, professional, traditional or tribal community. Your expectations and approach is what matters.

Don't lose guard because you think they are holy. Be at alert.
I did hence the physical fight immediately i sensed that he was in to clean me out. The family friend that connected me to him is a pastor and they are very close friends

When i was out of job and penniless as a student for almost 6months my rent and bills were paid by Asians i was sharing a house with, the principal occupant did not kick me out and was understanding until i got a job and start paying back £200 a week until i clear up.

Cc justwise ticha zahra and anyone else who can help smiley
Personally i suggest that you look for job in a area you have experience already(if your retail banking experience is not from the UK) then switch after a year or two. You can check https://uk.indeed.com/q-retail-banking-l-london-jobs.html?vjk=65cba1bd6f2550a0

Are you on student visa or dependant?

It will be safer to deal with non-religious Nigerian or people in general because you will be at alert from day one rather than being deceived by that cloud of 'holiness'

You might not really need a church or mosque if you know what you are doing. NL sef is enough for you to get the right information. Go to church to serve God genuinely. Most of my coursemates who did this church thing still didn’t achieve anything better than me. I am a child of God tho 😂
In most cases some Churches see new immigrants as a 'referral code' ...give you some help in return for membership and financial contribution.

I also have to point out here that some new immigrants also use the Church to settle down then stopped going to that Church

All very unfortunate but all very unrelated to the church in question or churches generally.

Or if the man had been a 'well respected' man in a university and had given you an academic book instead of a Bible would you be citing him as an example of how you were victimised by a university?

Yes if the discussion is about university.

This dude won my truth because he came across very religious and a committed member of that particular church.

My point was, religious houses is NEVER a magic bullet....... Approach with your eyes wide open and senses on guard .......
I was a victim of this in my first few months in this country, the default advise given to new immigrants is to find a Nigeria church so as to get help with job, accommodation etc

I get to know a Nigerian through a family friend here when i was looking for accommodation, He gave a room in a house he was subletting, gave me a bible, helped me find a 'job' with Royal Mail,(i worked for a day and never went back) took me to their church where he is very very respected and almost everyone knows him.

I was settled with him and keep going to that church even without him. when i moved in there he told me that the rent is bills inclusive(£50 a wk) which i was happy with.

just 3wks in the accommodation i received a bill of £200, i called to ask him and he said i should just pay it.

The job he helped me with turns out to be an arrangement with the agency whereby he will be getting £1 hourly from my pay and i was let into the warehouse through the backdoor, no training, no orientation given. After the day shift he wanted me to go back for night shift but i refused and he was pissed.

We had a physical fight because of the bill and he asked me to move out immediately that night after i paid for only 3wks i lived there.

That winter night i went to woolworths (now closed) to buy a bag to pack my stuff and the next day I was on the street looking for an accommodation, missed lecture that day, at the end i found nothing, i came back locked myself inside and he tried to break the door down to through me out.

It was a Zimbabweans i met while looking for a house the previous day that helped me to find a place and i finally moved out.

This is just the summary of the event as the fight lasted for 12days before i moved out.

This is actually viable. I remember coming into the UK and was earning about £800 weekly as a Warehouse Operative. I got a £50k offer and jumped at it immediately. I was earning less than the Warehouse job but had the "hope" of earning more in future. The "hope" came to fruition in a few months.

I advise he does what @Gemma11 said: continue the care as part time to beef up the salary. That was what I did, I was doing my Warehouse job during the weekends.
How? How are you earning less?

Please I misplaced my international passport while in transit from Manchester to my location, I have contacted the relevant authorities but the passport had 6 months validity so I prefer to just apply for another one, how do I go about it?
You need to report this to the police and get police report first before applying for another paasport.

if your starting salary is 20K how many yrs do you think it will take you to earn 50K annually in the same department?

None, just the experience to enable me apply for more experienced positions and better pay
20K a year is too small, stay in your current job while you search for one that pays better with benefits. That is my personal opinion.
