Business › Re: Why Linda Ikeji Makes More Money Than Nairaland by justwise(m): 2:41pm On Sep 17, 2014
Megaphone: I was talking to a ceo of a huge advertising agency on the island, and i told him i do not believe linda bought that car for 24b million naira in cash. How come she makes so much money? I told him about a site called nairaland and he laughed. He said his agency had patronized linda to te tune of about 5m in cash, and he hasn't even bought any space on nairaland. i asked why.. He gave me about four reasons reasons

Nairaland's homepage looks idiotic on a desktop. The page looks like an abandoned webpage and that chases potential customers away

Nairaland seems to have more low income bracket users than high income. Linda Ikeji on the other hand has got a lot of High income readers and they have the financial capacity to purchase products advertised on the blog. On the other hand Nairaland's users are mainly job seekers, scammers and the likes or small start business men who just dont have the money. They come to the site to trade their 'goods' and not to buy anyway

Nairaland doesn't have a face. He compared Stella Dimok to Linda. He said how many times do you see Stella in Public? Shes based in Germany and so no face. Same with Nairaland. No one knows whos behind it. He said Great organisations always have a face. A CEO out there in the public eyes. He then gave examples like Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg, and so many others. They're out there in the public eye. That he said does not just attract customers but big time investors. He said Linda Ikeji is more out there, more social and so people like her (shes pretty too) and trust her with big money more than someone whom they do not even know!

Nairaland's frontpage contains trashy topics. He said when you got topics like ' Why do ladies fart?'on the frontpage or which do you prefer Chicken or turkey on a front page, then that kind of site cant be taken serious by any customer or investor. Linda's blog on the other hand contains trendy and fashionable topics that attracts upscale folks and wealthy readers. Advertisers he says love such a medium.

queen47: Hi Justwise and other experienced people here, I submitted my application at vfs abuja on 12th, was interviewed same day, got a call from abuja today to come for a face to face interview at lagos on friday, now I am so worried as to why I was called for a second interview.

Let me add I was once refused a us tourist visa.
Secondly, during the interview, I think I wasn't facing th camera, the interviewer at some point asked if I was reading from a note cos I didn't realise I faced down for the greater part of the interview.

What do you think?
What should I expect?

I just booked a 2 way ticket to lagos
There is nothing to worry about if the only problem is you not looking at the camera. It's going to be the same interview, it's also an opportunity for you to improve on your previous answers if you think that you did not answer certain question correctly.

abaskekere: @3sha4lyf, JWise and VicJ...pls my mom's e passport expires in May next year, she has been to the UK severally, and she wants to apply for 2years visit visa now, please can she do this or it must be done on a new passport with longer validity, pls your advices, thanks all.
If she can get a new passport fine but if that is not possible she can still use her current passport, it will not affect the validation of the visa if renewed later

litadeh: Please can anyone help me?

I have applied for uk visa and have submitted my biometric data and my documents already. Interview was waived.
The problem now is this:
I am a sponsored student (sponaored by a govt agency) but I applied for a Tier 4 General Student visa ibstead of a Tier 4 Sponsored Student visa.
Although I also included my sponsorship letter and a letter of introduction to the embassy from my sponsor.
I dont know what to do now.
If you met all requirements that mistake may be over looked

phken: Ok so as I am on visit visa to the UK I cannot travel to any other country until i return to Nigeria? My daughter has been disturbing me to take her to Disneyworld in Paris, so I also cannot visit France with my family unless i go back to Nigeria and apply? These are just very stupid laws that makes no sense at all

@justwise please I need to know is this law applicable to the USA as well? At the end of my visit in UK, i plan to visit New Jersey for 12 days to buy motor parts and other stuffs. Can I apply USA visa from UK or I must go to Nigeria before applying? My sister is a doctor in USA and she will send me IV and any supporting documents. I appreciate your honest advise.

Thanks
Your chances of getting US visa from the UK is very remote because you don't have a tie to the UK, you stand far better chance applying from Nigeria.

You will not be able to visit Paris with your kids with visiting visa to the UK

idmanzik: Dear Justwise and Vicjustice,

I have been offered an all expense paid one week overseas trip by my firm and i have choosed to go to UK. Please how do i package my application considering my firm will be my sponsor? I earn just over 200k (don't have much in the account though), but could get the company's statement of account and any other documents required. I have only travelled outside Nigeria once...went to Dubai last December on hols.

Please what are my chances of getting a UK visa...assuming i package based on my firm being the sponsor.

Thanks
How big is your company? Limited or plc?

phken: Hello everyone, I need advise about applying for Sweden visa from the UK.
I am a Nigerian passport holder currently visiting my family in UK. I came to UK last month with 6 months multiple entry visit visa. I will be staying in UK for 3 months before returning to Nigeria. I am planning to visit my cousin sister in Sweden. I want to travel to Sweden with my wife and 10 years old daughter. Both my wife and daughter are British citizens, and they live permanently in UK. I decided to live in Nigeria because I have my businesses in Nigeria, i cannot close my shops just to live in UK. My family visits me in Nigeria.

Now, i have been on VFS visa website for couple of hours trying to get as much info as possible but i seems to be getting confused. I believe i will get direct answers here than searching in Google and other internet pages, this is why i have come here for help, please make una help me.

1. As a visitor in UK and Nigerian passport holder, Can I apply for Sweden visitor visa from UK?
2. On the VFS website medical travel insurance is one of the requirements, but I got my UK visa without any travel insurance. IS TRAVEL INSURANCE MANDATORY FOR SWEDEN VISA?
3. I came to UK with my recent bank statements, house documents, share certificates, CAC company registration certificates etc. I traveled with all these documents because at the end of my visit in UK I plan traveling to USA to buy some things. Are these documents enough to apply for Sweden visa?
4. What are my chances of getting this visa?
5. The person I am visiting in Sweden is my cousin sister who just put to bed, its over 7 years now that i haven't seen her.
I will appreciate if the visa/immigration experts in the house give me the best advise on how to go about this. My wife will be on leave towards the end of October and that's when I plan to travel, I hope 1 month is enough time to put this Sweden visa thing together?
Your documents are ok but you are applying from a wrong country, you stand a better chance applying from Nigeria because that is where you have strong tie. Being on visiting visa and family in the UK is not a tie to the UK.

NuNu08: Hello...plss guru's in the house help out...i applied for Uk Visa 2012 n was found guilty of deception.therefore Visa ws refused and i got banned, My question now is am married to a british citizen and we have a baby, he wants to apply for settlement for Us now..plss what are my chances of getting a Visa?
If your marriage is genuine and you can prove that then you stand a chance of getting spouse visa even with the ban though they can still drag you around a bit by refusing and you end up in immigration tribunal.

It's important that you pay attention to a very small detail about the requirement leaving no room for refusal.
