Travel › Re: UK Spouse Visa/Appeal Process-part2 by justwise(mod): 6:52am On Sep 12, 2013
target007: @Justwise: can you please respond to the below questions?

1. What implication(s) or consequence(s) do you think this rule change will have to the life of settled immigrant in UK?

2. Don't you think it may now be even difficult for families or spouses of settled immigrant to travel even on Visitors Visa to the UK as they may just come to the conclusion that family that intend to visit may never return?

3. Does it now means that spouses of settled immigrants may need not worry to apply directly for Settlement visa, which takes ages to get and can even be years if appealing but can now opt to apply for just visitor visa and can take from there?

If question (3) is true, i think this will be a big relieve indeed.
I really don't see much in the changes, allowing family on visiting visa to make spouse visa application in the UK is not much of a change. The spouses still can not work while on visiting visa and i doubt if he or her will be allowed to extend the visiting visa if it expires while waiting for the outcome of the application.

The only good thing is that the family will have each others support while on the long frustrating waiting time

futurewise11: Its definately becuase of language barrier.but my question is why will an average nigerian spend 6,000,000 in uk and after his program he has to back? i think people like angel diamond will shed more light on this issue having studied in the uk before.

Tope coursemate in nigeria, his father based in uk and was strongly against us coming there to study siting high tuition fee to no student job and harsh immigration policy of the british govt.

The reason why they go to uk is because u can easily feel at home in some area of uk,like london, peckam etc and similar language.
Even with all that...a lot of people are still choosing the UK, US or Canada over German free education and the chances of getting a stay after 5yrs, so my question is why? Don't tell people don't know about those benefits, it has been like that for many yrs.
Not everybody wants to stay back after studies, many go back to their jobs or look for one, a friend left today after his masters here, a lot of people just came purely to study and go back to Nigeria.

beebee5000: My opinion, its easier to integrate in UK, US or Canada because you dont have the language barrier.
Apart from language barrier, one of the reasons why people prefer the UK, US or Canada to German because those countries have better ranked universities than Germany and if you look at university world ranking German universities are not even in top 30.
Hey Nlanders..i wanted to find out if a university sponsors someone is it are there some specific things that need to be done with regards that, apart from providing an official document stating their intention to take care of miantenance funds? I also wanted to know if the university needs to pay part of the school fees before putting the application through. thanks
All you need is that sponsor letter that will state clearly how much the scholarship worth (full or half scholarship)

The issue of paying school fees before applying for visa will depend on the school you are applying to, if they want you to pay part of the fees then yes you have to and get the CAS.

futurewise11: That why information is powerfull.alot of people are not aware of all this free education country.
The economic situation in the uk then is much more ok,as in post study visa, student jobs etc.unlike now where post study visa has being cancel, college student cant work etc..

My point is why should someone pay approximate 6m in a uk for bsc and ignore a germany which offer the same course free of charge.

Personally i felt germany has alot to offer than uk.apart from the money aspect, can a student get his stay in uk after 5years?
i doubt it.

I stand to be corrected, but i think that move is not JUST WISE at all.
Even with all that...a lot of people are still choosing the UK, US or Canada over German free education and the chances of getting a stay after 5yrs, so my question is why? Don't tell people don't know about those benefits, it has been like that for many yrs.

topeajis: Personal and practical opinion man... Uk is much easy to enter but after ur study u coming back home and u knw our nigeria people we don't want to go back home. After the first msc in uk they come to German for another msc cos most msc in uk is one yr which cannot be granted for phd. So most of them have to do another msc..
It took you ages to hit the main point why people 'might' consider German than the UK. When German immigration policy change just like the UK people will start considering another country with 'more' friendly immigration policy.

topeajis: People like UK because na English and another reason is that uk visa is as easy as asking Lagos girls out... And even their admission to school is much easy... Canada and U.S is a country every one wants to be man forget about the cost .. Cos of they own the best economy.. But even the less rich kids in the Canada and U.S.A self don they enter Germany to study so wat u saying sir...

What is your evidence to support such claim or its just personal opinion?

Your argument does not add up, UK visa is easy to get, admission easy to get, so why are people running away from the UK then if its so easy to enter the UK?
Travel › Re: German Embassy And Visa by justwise(mod): 11:16am On Sep 11, 2013
futurewise11: I think hes talking about the financial aspect of studying in both countries.since studying in germany is free and is expensive in uk to an average nigerian,so the tendecy that people will be giving preference to germany over uk is high.

Morever,nigerians are cost conscios people.
Germany education has been free for yrs but at the same time people prefer the UK, US and Canada to German education even as it cost a lot more to study in the above mentioned countries

Angel Diamond: I guess he was trying to say its expensive for his sister to study in the UK as an international student......but however, holding a Uk resident permit or not we can just answer his question and wait to see if he will repeat it again or give reason to doubt him........no one is guilty until convicted......hahaha.........cheers boss.
I can see it from that angle

anonymous26: Hello,

Please i am in a dilemma. I submitted my application for student Visa on the 16th of August in lekki. Making it 18 working days today. My online tracking is still saying it has been forwarded to British high commission. When i called the BHC in abuja they told me my visa application is being handled in sheffield. I emailed sheffield and I emailed the visa info service here in nigeria last tuesday. The info people replied me on the same day saying that my documents were still being verified and then sheffield replied me on thursday to say my application would be considered on that Thursday. I have still not heard anything so I emailed again yest. The Visa Info people told me that my documents were being verified. When i called BHC i abuja they told me that considering it meant that the documents had been verified and they just needed to take a decision. Please what can i do?. The anxiety is killing me

@justwise please help. how long does it take for the documents to be verified.
Nothing. Wait to hear from them, its minimum of 15 working days.

wola44: Transfer the money into your account and run the account for 4 months. Your chance of getting visa if your sister sponsor you is 10%.
Even with that his chances is pretty remote, having money in your account without a proven source will not get you a visa. Does he work, own a business? How much does the sister earn in a year to give him such a amount for foreign holiday?
