Politics › Re: Olu Falae: Yoruba Is The Glue Holding Nigeria Together by kayjay69(m): 3:12pm On Jul 14, 2020 |
Well written. Absolutely true. I just feel like until we split, we all may never fully realise our true potential. AreaFada2: Post independence Nigeria immediately threw up far more challenges than everyone expected.
Chief Enahoro once said that founding fathers including himself were too busy fighting for independence that they did not work out how to rule after independence. They thought as Africans they would work together amicably.
But events in Zaire Congo so early on soon proved that Africans could not work together.
The desire to rule at the centre probably became too strong to leaders including Awo.
Remember that Awo's desire to return as Premier split Western Region into Awo and SLA camps. Something the North cunningly exploited.
Awo could have done what Ahmadu Bello did. He stayed as Northern Premier and sent his boy Balewa to the centre as Prime Minister.
SLA at the centre ring might have given Balewa a very difficult run for his money. |
Politics › Re: Olu Falae: Yoruba Is The Glue Holding Nigeria Together by kayjay69(m): 2:21pm On Jul 14, 2020 |
I feel that the pre-1960s Awo was more mission focused for all the Yoruba people. Personally, I believe if he was allowed to rule the western region alone for 20 or 30 or even 40 years, we as a region would be much better off than we are today. The post-1960s Awo, before and around the time of the war, had lost his way. Awo understood long ago that Nigeria, being composed of different tribes, ethnicities and creed, had no business being together which was why he was a proponent of strong regions with states built around ethnic identities. That was the pre-60s Awo. For whatever reason after the British left, I guess like the Iron throne in Game of Thrones, Awo became attracted to the prospects of One Nigeria which is why he proposed aligning with Zik. Atleast this much we know to be true. However, here is what I strongly believe. I believe if each region was allowed the right to govern itself, my region the old western region would be better off than it is presently. By better off, I am referring to the life of the average citizen NOT the welfare of the average politician. Atleast the politicians of old understood certain things, today's breed do not understand a god damned thing. AreaFada2: Well, all our founding fathers had their missteps. But that is easier for us to say with hindsight. But Awo knew Nigeria and its ethnic complexity more than most. He suspected that Nigeria will likely fail due to the feudal conservative North.
So he wanted to possibility of secession to be on our constitution. Zik argument vehemently against it and colonial masters sided with Zik before independence.
Awo did not succeed with Yoruba unity because did not have his foresight for Yoruba nation. Awo was honest about his pro Yoruba priorities while others pursued ethnic goals but lied about it. Except Ahmadu Bello who was clear with his Jihadist Dan Fodio pursuit through politics.
Biafra war also gave Awo a serious dilemma. After leaving prison, taking Yoruba people into a potential war would have been a risky move.
Were he a free man before the way with a positive assessment of his support in Western Region, it might have been a different story. |

Brotherly, I hail you. Agree with everything you say about Falae. As for Awo, for all of what he did for our people, I continue to hold him to high esteem and he continues to be the benchmark for all leaders. However, I believe his missteps are a part of what led us to where we are today. AreaFada2: The elite are so far removed from reality that they cannot feel how this nation continues to spiral into the abyss. His name will secure his kids and grandkids privileges in Nigeria.
I thought his kidnap by herdsmen would have taught him a lesson about the failed state Nigeria is. PA Awo would not sit down and tolerate and the killings and raping by herdsmen in SW. |

repeating talking points off of Breitbart and Fox News does not make you a smart person or an intellectual. Just FYI. tsephanyah: This whole coronahoax is just a test run to see what they can get away with. Judging by the peoples reactions so far....the deep state has us by the short and curlies. And they know it.
ever heard of H1N1. It was 100 times worse and no one noticed. This virus is real but the severity of the situation has been blown way out of proportion for political reasons. The constitution was too much trouble and needed to be scrapped. They have succeeded.
Crazy world we are living in right now. Almost makes you wonder if something else isn’t brewing while everyone is preoccupied with this Coronavirus.
That is precisely what all of us should be thinking. Coronavirus isn't what it seems; the timing is too convenient and the numbers don't wash. Follow the timeline, the locations, places most affected, and you'll start to see the picture. Some of it is connected to the Chinese connection to prince Andrew/Epstein/Weinstein/Clinton/Winfrey (YES! WINFREY) sex-trafficking ring. Weinstein was recently sentenced to 55 years for perving on CONSENTING women and his sentence was reduced to 23 years as the result of a plea deal. Later they killed him. his girlfriend is connected to the British monarchy. Trump, Clinton, Bush, bill gates, many powerful Jews are connected to Epstein child trafficking. They're all ritualist. They eat babies drink the blood, sexually abuse babies. Following his sentencing, several billionaire CEO's have resigned and multiple celebrities and politicians have suddenly "contracted the virus." There will be more resignations, more sudden (and convenient) celebrity/politician infections in an effort to save face. 600 people were recently arrested in a sex trafficking/corruption investigation that has spanned nearly 20 years. On the other side of the coin, the data doesn't add up. We have no way to confirm the number of infections and deaths the media is reporting. Just as China has completely manufactured the nature of the virus and their recovery, the government and media are deliberately fabricating the number of infections and deaths to push for a "vaccine" that will actually cause more sickness and death than their supposed virus (which wasn't a virus). Understand this: the vaccine is the actual goal, not curbing the virus. The media is deliberately strewing the data and drumming up public hysteria to push this goal forward. Do some research on 5G frequencies and their effect on the human body, and you'll see China's "virus." Wake up, people. We are witnessing one of the largest scale False Flag psy-ops we've seen in decades. More than 500,000 die from influenza each year and the media is completely silent yet, the entire nation is facing imminent lockdown and the media is pimping hysteria non-stop over a virus with a 98% recovery rate, with zero evidence to support their data. If you're not smelling something fishy by now, you need your heads examined. Stop listening to the media. Turn off your tv, put down the phone, and stop falling for the lie we're being fed. It's NOT a pandemic! |

Shut your hole. How the hell did DSTV enjoy a monopoly all these years? So by your logic, before mobile operators were allowed into the country, you would have supported Nitel as the sole communications provider? As much as I dislike the present administration, this cannot be one of such reasons. How can a govt that is going to end a monopoly and ensure fair pricing be anti-business? Be consistent, fair and objective with your criticisms. Public discourse perhaps remains the only way we as people can atleast try to inform ourselves objectively. If we fail at having reasonable discussions, what hope do we have as a people. sexylassie2: Anti business Nigerian govt.

On a serious note, I expect and hope that Makinde's achievements totally dwarf whatever Ajimobi accomplished in Oyo State.
