Ebonyi is a state that probably has one of the lowest allocations from the Federal Gov. I am not sure about their level of industrialisation or if there are businesses concentrated there as a means of raising other forms of revenue. And believe me when I say that it won't be as if this govt is not corrupt but it is obvious that this govt is working. Ebonyi is evidence that all the states in Nigeria can have some form of meaningful progress, it just depends on the vision and determination of whoever is in charge. If every state govt could embark on infrastructural development that is urgently needed by the constituents and invest in human capital development in a honest, direct and unbiased manner, Nigeria will definitely be a better place in as little as 20 years from now. All our problems will not have varnished, however we will surely be better off than we are right now. In saner climes, this governor would be in the running for President but in Nigeria we prefer to bicker over who is from where and what religion. TundeBricklayer: |
Well worth more person, you are the perfect reason why Nigeria as a country is the way it is. I am sure you don't even understand what I wrote and even if you did you couldn't put together an intelligent response because like you and your ilk you are programmed zombies. Zombies who only see things as they seem not as they really are. You are the perfect example of a Nigerian who deserves the leaders it has. Timmypromise: |
Your post says everything there is to say about you really and is typical of a Nigerian who is either ignorant by choice or because he is paid to spread such. In your stupidity, you have ignored the real message and pounced on the messenger. I leave you to wallow in your foolishness. Westtimeline: |
You dont even understand, Tinubu does not give a damn if Fulani Herdsmen overrun the entire South West. In so far as his presidential aspiration is intact, then for him there is no problem. Well, my grouse is not with Tinubu I mean why should it be. Tinubu is only doing what Tinubu has always done all along and what most, if not all, politicians would do. My grouse is with the stupid Yoruba people, my brothers, who really do believe Tinubu is the next best thing after sliced bread. It is sad that despite the way the ruling class have treated Nigerians in general, we still look to them for some sort of guidance. So basically it is until when Tinubu (or some other compromised so-called Yoruba Leader) comes out to condemn these attacks that we will emerge from our slumber? Is it not obvious what the real agenda of the Hausa-Fulani is and what it has been especially under the current occupant of Aso Rock? I could care less what party does what, APC this and PDP that but when it becomes obvious that one is in mortal danger of losing his own lands, property and source of livelihood, then I think one had better not wait for some useless elders, one had better be armed to the teeth and be ready to defend what is one's own. It is just sad that Nigerians do not know their history neither do they know that history often repeats itself. These Fulani were never a part of this geographical entity to begin with, they migrated here. And ever since then they have only advanced their cause through war and destruction. They are patient, They do not relent and They have vowed never to stop until all of what is Nigeria is firmly under their thumb. Brush it aside, you simpleton, claim it will never happen and watch things as they gradually unfold. This is why I'll keep saying the best recourse of the SW is to band together with the SE and SS. For all the faults of the SS and SE (no one is perfect, everyone with his own), there has never been a time anyone from there sought to kill a Yoruba person for his land, property and to impose his religious beliefs and way of life. Our differences are still more manageable, it is only sad that politicians have used these to further their aspirations. This SW and North marriage has never worked and will not work. It will only continue to prove that the fulani's are treacherous as always and the yorubas who choose to go with them are stupid. oilPUSSY: |
Pls bro, a quick one, how did he betray the South South out of the 2nd term? KidsNEXTdoor: |
You have a point there sha. I just hope this is a cautionary tale to them when they later do the spin-off which by the way starts filming later this year and airs around 2020 or 2021. AkpaMgbor: |
Brother, I dont think so. They have book 1-5, all they had to do was build on the characters they already have and make a compelling storyline for example, Daenerys wasnt supposed to change all too soon this could have been done gradually cos she was a heroine up until season 8 episode 3 sef. The war between the living and the dead should have been the last war at Kings Landing NOT Winterfell and they owed it to the fans to have Jon Snow atleast battle the Night king. Look the night king character was more important than Cersei and all the other villains, he was the ultimate villian and his coming had been hyped from season 1 to 7, they owed it to the fans to have had that at the end and also to have had the battle for atleast 2 episodes. These are simple things that they could have easily done, they didnt need the writer to complete his books in order to do that. If u look at season 8 it had alot of inconsistencies compared to previous seasons, it's just evidence that they didnt put in much thought. AkpaMgbor: |
If you watched it from the beginning, you can tell that whatever goodwill the producers had, they've lost it and it will affect viewership for their spin-off series. They did not have to end it like they are now. I've heard series of excuses, about how the writer of the book hasn't released book 6 and 7 so they dont have content. I'm pretty sure the writers of the TV show could have come up with something better, even if it meant taking 3 years off just to come up with an outstanding season 7 and 8. 7 was manageable, we got some nice surprises but 8 was downright predictable which is the exact opposite of what GOT is known for and the surprises were quite disappointing really. If they had ended it well it would have stood out as probably the best TV show ever but this is why I'll always pick Breaking Bad ahead of any TV show, from start to finish it never disappointed. Yes ma I totally agree with all you said but please can you also help us shed light on how you ran Oceanic Bank Plc like a private enterprise using depositors funds as you pleased? No one is perfect, Sanusi is far from perfect and his tenure as CBN Governor did garner alot of controversy some for the right and some for the wrong reasons but as far as removing those CEOs, HE WAS ABSOLUTELY SPOT ON!!! It is a shame he didn't remove more, probably couldn't do so due to politics. They were all corrupt administrators using depositors funds for personal gain, no different from our corrupt politicians. Even after some of these banks got CBN bailout money or govt intervention fund, it was the same end result of mismanagement, so in my opinion they just had to go. A lot of bad loans with little or no collateral were given to questionable companies fulfilling little or no requirements, under the watches of these so-called CEOs. Overall, this created a negative perception of our banking industry and in turn affected the economy. And whenever they ran into murky waters, the government was always there to help. Money that ought to be used for some other pressing needs somewhere else in the country was used to bail these banks out. For this and this alone Sanusi was right. Some may argue that his persecution was selective, I don't doubt it cos the evidence points in that direction but you can never argue that those CEOs were not corrupt and that they had not lost their way. chinambusay: |
As in, na confirmed Elite First Class Zombie. Totally abandoned the message and pounced on the messenger in usual naija fashion. Davash222: |
Brother God bless you oh. We Nigerians love drama and stupid unnecessary comparisons to the point where it clearly makes zero sense. In my opinion and in addition to what the person I am quoting said, Wole Soyinka's works deserved the Nobel Prize in Literature. I think why most people cannot identify with his works is because of how complex he writes. Chinua Achebe is a legend in his own right and if I could, I would also award him the aforementioned prize. Through secondary school, I could identify better with Achebe's works than Soyinka's because atleast to me they were simpler to read and understand. I may not be the best qualified person to give a detailed critique of both men's works but even if I were I wouldn't want to. Both men and their works are legend. Comparing them especially as it relates to the Nobel Prize, makes no sense. It will not diminish or add to their legacies. But Nigerians in our usual fashion will turn this into a ethnic bashing fiesta. I guess its another chance for us to reveal how shallow and ugly we are rather than focus on more important issues that affect us all. StOla: |
In the end, your comment does suggest you deserve hefty doses of your nairaland moniker but then I cannot fault you, I can only pity you for you and your ilk. Clearly you have eyes but cannot see, you have a brain, you read but still you cannot understand. So in the usual Nigerian fashion (or should I say bad belle fashion) you simply despise that which you cannot come to terms with. I get it, I really do. SLAP44: |
At the end of the day, when they are done, if we are lucky then we will see a sub standard project completed at say 25% of what was budgeted, if we are not lucky we will find an uncompleted project that took 10% of what was budgeted. post=78231958: |
This is the type of dumb a** commentary that nairaland has come to be known for. Sanusi sacked owners of banks, was it within his powers as CBN Governor to do so? What were these so-called Bank owners doing with the bank's funds they were entrusted with by their customers? Did Sanusi's actions restore public and investor confidence to the banking sector? As much as I may have had my reservations about Emir Sanusi (who is far from perfect, flawed as any one of us) during his tenure as the CBN Gov (especially towards the end), I personally know that his actions helped sanitise that industry. And upon his ascending the throne of Emir, he has arguably been the lone voice calling for progressive change in the North. If you understand Nigeria, you will understand that North Nigeria as it is currently populated is and will continue to be a massive stumbling block for Nigeria. I do not care much for his politics but on the social side and what he is pushing for in the North, he has my respect. We ought to be standing together and condemning corruption, electoral violence and anything that is retrogressive in nature. But as you can see the problem with Nigeria and some Nigerians is we often leave the message and focus on the messenger. We often prefer to settle scores than stand with the truth. We are who we have always been and will remain this way, I dont even see a way out of this anymore. We are fractured beyond repair I swear. kgr8mike: |
Hehehehehehe. You serious. Well me I no see anything wrong in Muslim boy wey wan chow Christian girl, so far its consensual and not forced. NwaOhafia: |
If he dodged the question, people like you will read another meaning into that so I do not think it is fair to bash him on the basis of this. And in truth, even if he did dodge it, the truth is out there already he has chosen his wife and children over his brothers. The whole fracas between them had already been made public before now so what he says or doesn't say makes absolutely no difference. I really think you don't like him that much and you are simply using what he said as an excuse to vent your views of him. I would love for them to sweep their differences aside. The brothers have to move on, those of you calling for reconciliation and yabbing Peter or his wife for being the cause, I don't see you pointing at the other side. In cases such as these, I am certain there's enough blame to go around and everyone is most likely at fault cos no one is angel. Peter won't leave Lola, that ship has sailed a long time ago. Infact the way I see it, the more the brother's oppose him the more he feels justified by his choice Jude should get over it, he is the senior brother and he should be the one pulling them together rather than fighting his brother for going against their late parent's wishes (which was what caused this whole thing from the beginning according to what we all read though different people may take different views). The way I see it is very simple if Peter did disobey, it's on Peter, it is between Peter, his parents and God. Jude shouldn't act as an umpire of sorts and they shouldn't have let all of that get in between them and their business ventures. They are all grown men and Lola isn't married to the other two brothers for christ's sake, she is married to Peter. I honestly wish them well and hope they get back together, all three of them. andrew444: |
You - Very brainless motherf***ing cretin worm. What does what you have posted have to do with what is being discussed. Very clearly, you are one of the people who cannot clearly identify the real issue in the topic being discussed. You just import your stupidity and ignorance in everything. deji17: |
And you have said it all, exactly the way it needs to be said. See the truth of the matter is it is a white man's world. They invented Nepotism and Racism. It is a tool they have used over the years to their advantage and to the disadvantage of other coloured folks. Now I wish that coloured people (Africans, Indians and other nationals) could unite on the basis of this. But then you see us jostling to get ahead in line of who will be the white man's b***h. Forgive me to say but this is common with lighter skinned blacks and Indians, some of whom feel the colour of their skin makes them more like the white man and less like the black man. So they gravitate ignorantly toward their master whilst casting aspersions on others who they consider to be inferior. This is probably the basis of the heavily reviled caste system in India and South Africa. The whiter your skin colour, the better your chances in life. But away from all of that, in my opinion the key solution to stopping racism is to develop our own and love our own. I know it's difficult to do cause on one hand we have African leadership who are basically advanced slaves, rich through stolen wealth but still slaves, they think they are wise but really they are slaves. Cos a slave always has a master and they take their orders from the powers that be, the ones who installed them or keeps them installed and helps them launder and keep their ill-gotten wealth. On the other hand, the masses who are slaves, some by choice and others by condition. The onus falls to all of us in society who do not fall into these two categories, who know better through exposure, who have been victims of racism but would like something better for our people. To go into how we can do about the aforementioned will be lengthy and I do not wish to take away anything from the person I am quoting but the bottom line is we must love ourselves and this will take on various forms. It's a hard thing to do really but I think it starts from there. We won't get it right in a generation, maybe not in three but if we are determined we will get it right in the end. Unfortunately the evidence on ground suggests the opposite cos for us to even have a chance at getting things right we ought to be headed in the right direction, that isn't even happening. So such cases as the lady in the video and many more will happen, I guess it will just have to be a case of putting up with whatever comes. Canada is still better compared to a whole lot of other countries. It's not also confined to blacks vs whites. For example, the Japanese are heavily racist toward the Koreans and Chinese how do you explain that. Germans toward other Europeans they refer to as inferior. And no matter what, there will still continue to exist pockets of racist behaviour here and there. My advice to my peeps in diaspora is to hold your head up, realise it's a white man's world and just keep doing what you do. Good thing is not all white people are racist, I guess one just has to hope to across the good ones. Spatta: |

as in dumb a** motherf***ing dirt gutter poor mind. And then we turn around and say Nigeria is the way it is when we as a people have clearly lost our ability to separate right from wrong and call out BS for what it is. Bonapart: |

While I agree (and i have always done so, feel free to check any previous posts of mine) that the SE should be given a shot at the Presidency by both parties in 2023, i do not believe that will get us where we should be as a country as we will still continue to have the same discussions along tribal, religious and other lines as it divides us. An igbo presidency may convince some (definitely not all cos I know there are igbos out there who will never forgive Nigeria and who believe that their ultimate destiny as an ethnic group is to have their own country, and they have every right to feel this way) igbos that they have a stake in this entity called Nigeria but an Igbo presidency will not solve Nigeria's problems. Quite frankly, I do not think anyone individual from anyone region can solve Nigeria's problems. And I think that is more important than seeing the presidency zoned to anyone region (inclusive of mine the SW). If we are interested in wholesome change and not palliatives then we must tell ourselves the truth, Nigeria as it is constituted is bound to fail even if we have the best leaders possible or we were to outsource our leadership to proven leadership from another country, I am not sorry to say it will all still come crumbling down. We are fractured in a lot of ways, it's not just leadership, its followership as well, it's not just one ethnic group, its the lot of us. And we have lost our minds, our definition of what is right or wrong to the point where it will take time, years even, generations maybe. That is why I'll keep insisting that it is either Nigeria gets restructured to have strong regions and a weak centre or we simply split and go our separate ways. PeacenLove2: |
Statements such as this one you posted are often very misleading. When you say "the yourbas have enjoyed..." you are hastily equating yoruba politicians (and their cohorts) to the generality of Yoruba people (40million or so in number). Unless ofcourse you mean to create mischief, there can be no denying the fact that the average Yoruba man has not benefited more in comparison to the average Nigerian from other parts of the country. If there is pls point me in such direction and I mean tangible things that have benefitted the Yoruba people as a whole as compared to other geo-political zones in the country. The truth is politicians across Nigeria have continued to benefit by illegally enriching themselves whilst enslaving all Nigerians. Case closed. nazicartel: |
