pricelessmr: Congratulations! Princeolu, Wonderbob for the great news. Wishing u successful sojourn in deutchland.

Thank you Kelly4top, futurewise & co for the info on food in Germany. My wifey will be excited to know that there is something like garri in germo... She doesn't joke with swallow grin for me, I don't joke with chicken and red wine. It all means that living in Germany may be a win-win situation for us.

I follow this thread closely. Everyday, I see reason to relocate from naija. God help us.
Are you planning to bring ur wife too like me?

ChriGo: STEPS TO CANADA ONLINE VISA APPLICATION

Hey there, Tired of waiting, and feeling Frustrated with the Canada visa Paper route processing time?
The solution you need is right here. Online route is all you need to get going grin

Follow these easy steps:

1. Visit www.cic.gc.ca to register……Click on Apply online, you’ll get a prompt asking if you have applied before……Click NO……you get the next prompt asking “What are you applying for?”......Select STUDY PERMIT………you get another prompt asking “Have you used our online questionnaire to find out if you’re eligible to apply?”……your answer here should be NO since you’re applying for the first time, but if you’ve filled the questionnaire before then you can click YES.

2. After Clicking a NO to the Eligibilty Questionnaire question in step 1 then it takes you to an info Page……Just Click START……..Now that you’re on the getting started page…..Take your time to read the instructions……And then Click NEXT……Please fill in the Questionnaire correctly as these will be used to generate a Checklist code for you to upload your documents on your myCIC account.

3. After completely filling the Eligibility Questionnaire you will hit the “Review your answer page”……Please scan through to confirm your answers to the Questionnaire…….Then Click CONTINUE…………It will take you to a page were your CHECK LIST CODE is boldly written……the one I generated for mysef now is OX2980052333(plsssss this na my own code oooo,go generate your own biko).….Please copy your CODE or save that page or print that page……Just don’t misplace your own checklist code biko…..if you do, then you will have to fill another questionnaire all over again to generate another checklist code….. Please note that the checklist code you generated has expiry date(probably 2 months) so if you plan on generating the code make sure you use it before it expires else you would have to generate another.

4. Now that you have created your check list code the real application begins……you will have to re-iterate from Step 1 by visiting www.cic.gc.ca ….Click on Apply online, you get a prompt asking if you have applied before……Click NO……you get the next prompt asking “What are you applying for?”......Select STUDY PERMIT………you get another prompt asking “Have you used our online questionnaire to find out if you’re eligible to apply?” ……at the point click YES........It then ask you “Do you have a code that looks like this: QK4350881372?”……..Click YES…….Then it takes you to “Create myCIC account page”……Click START.........Now you’re at the page……Click GCKey Login…….since you do not have a Username and password yet then click REGISTER FOR A NEW GC-KEY........After you must have registered…..It takes you to terms and conditions page….Just click I ACCEPT……….

5. After clicking accept….it ask you if you already have a client ID which is also known as UCI number…..if you had previously applied to CDHC either through paper route or other route and you were given a UCI no please click YES…..but if you are just freshly applying to the Embassy then click NO…..Then it takes you to the Mycic Enrolment were you will fill your names, DOB, Country of birth, passport number……Then click CONTINUE…..Next is to create your security question …… click CONTINUE…….Then it ask for your email…..enter your email and click CONTINUE……. you get to your main cic page were you get to click APPLY ONLINE……….It ask you for the checklist code(remember the code we created at the beginning)…..

6. Enter your checklist code……..Now it takes you to the checklist questionnaire review page……Please note that you can still modify your questionnaire on the fly if you are not satisfied with some answers you provided…..all you need to do is click on MODIFY…….When you are done reviewing the page, click CONTINUE……Then it takes you to the part where you get to upload all you scanned documents……View the picture below to see what it looks like……

7. Please always click the question(?) attached to each upload section….example:- once you click the (?) attached to “Proof of Means of Financial Support” you will get these long lists
• your bank statements for the past four months
• a bank draft in convertible currency
• pay stubs
• an employment letter
• proof of assets or business
• proof of payment of tuition and accommodation fees
• tax reports, declarations or statements
• proof of a student/education loan from a financial institution
• a letter from the person or institution providing you with money
• proof of funding paid from within Canada, if you have a scholarship or are in a Canadian-funded educational program
• proof of a Canadian bank account in your name if money has been transferred to Canada

All you need to do is look for the documents you are able to provide on this list and then Copy and Paste them into a Microsoft word after scanning…..Save the document as PDF format in other to get a lower size pdf document…..if at the end you shrinked to pdf and you still have a larger size pdf, then please download a pdf compressor www.pdfcompressor.org

This is just for a section of Upload…..there are other Upload section(check the pics) were you need to also shrink documents to lower size….Please do this right and make your documents as clear as possible after shrinking.

When you are done uploading all docx......It takes you to the Review page.....Click CONTINUE.......Now you're at the payment page....Please make use of Zenith or First bank master card.....It has been tested and trusted to work on CIC platform.

Now that your application has been completed....always watch out for any message in your cic account....usually they notify you via your email of any pending message in your CIC account so always check your email regularly grin

Please note that these steps also apply to Visiting Visa application.....Just follow the Instructions for Visiting Lobatan!!! grin

take your time to study this well….Its practical so do not be scared to read all…..once you get going with it on your PC/Laptop you would see how easy it is to apply Online……Package your application well and then leave the rest to baba God…..GOD AINT SLEEPING grin

Cheers

ChriGo

Bwave: Where do you see the full chicken for €2, you better state facts so that you don't decieve others who may come and see something different. You have the choice of starvation, so always use the standard three meals to make your analysis even if you eat only one meal a day. FYI malnutrition affects your concentration, memory and assimilation, so your self study may even be counter productive because of starvation, and massive reduction in weight no good for cold weather oo,moreover you may not like what you see on the mirror in a few weeks.if you can live on €60 in a month I wonder why you will be required to provide €8000 for you sustenance in a year. Mind the information you give out because people maybe making wrong assumptions based on your fallacy.
If I may ask, what trash are you talking about?. What part of Germany are you cos you sounds as if futurewise does not know what he is saying. I can attest to the fact that it's true so if u live in an area where you buy it at 100 euro pls don't transfer ur aggression here. keep it to your self. Who told you, you cant eat 3 square meals daily with 60 euros monthly if u are the cooking type. I don't even finish 50 euros per month on food and drinks. if u don chop ur 8k euros finish and u are broke, then look for job or something doing. Learn how to talk to people politely. What he said is true and you are the one based on fallacy.

I buy 8 big lap of chicken at 1.8 euros sef at koufland and full 1kg od pork meat at 1 euro. Greiss is something like garri not exactly garri but no difference. Today is 20th and the 35 euros i withdrew for food still remain. It was when i came newly i do spend alot on food cos i dont cook then.

Guys wey like chicken and pork meat make unua ready oh cos unua go chop cheap meat tire. Sometimes sef i just buy only chicken and cook as food to show u how the thing cheap. I no fit try am for naija cos i must hold like 2k. Another cheap thing here na drinks, juice wine and especially beer.

Accommodation here is expensive but cheaper in Northern Germany. My guy pays 180 euro bigger room than mine sef. I pay 254 per month although everything is furnished with internet, electricity, Tv cable network, properties, kitchen utensils shelves, heater, etc. But if u are able to work part time during studies at week ends like i do, it will compliment for ur accommodation and 80 euros health insurance. Everything is planning and God.

OjaP: In addition to what BigFrancis said, she can apply for a F-2 visa if you guys are "legally married". You have to show proof that you will be able to sponsor/take care of her while here. This means she would have no recourse to public funds all through her stay in the US. Many people do that, and you can go through that route if you can defend yourself.

However, I should warn you that this category of visa lists your wife/child as your dependent, so you have to be responsible for them while here. I don't know how this would be possible if you don't have a job to support them. Most of us who go to the embassy paint a picture of a decent job and income. I am so sure your wife would paint that kind of picture too if going for an interview. But does it really make sense to abandon your high-paying job to relocate to the USA where you can't work and depend on a graduate student? These are few of the loop holes you have to close before letting her go to the embassy.

If I were you, I would come here first, study the system for like 6 months, calculate my income, and determine if that is what I really want to do. Unless you plan to leave the USA after your education, getting a green card for your wife would be so difficult. She may be bored to death in this country because she won't be working. And for you, your surest option of getting a green card would be through job. You have to go through the H-1B to green card route if you are lucky to get a company file for you. Since you are married, green card through marriage won't be possible again unless you divorce your wife and marry a citizen - I won't even advise you to do this. It is very risky. But if you do, what would be the fate of your wife? Well, she can re-marry and get a citizen file for her too. And would you end your marriage with your wife because of green card? This is tough to do if you truly love your wife. These processes may take a long time and in most cases could be so frustrating.

This is not to diminish your joy in anyway but just for you to plan very well before bringing your wife here. And like I said earlier, unless both of you plan to go back home after your studies, this may not be the best thing to do. I assume your wife is educated, if YES, let her apply to grad schools and go for a F-1 visa. With that, both of you have good chances of getting a H-1B or even a green card later in life.

Again, congratulations and welcome to the land of the free home of the brave.
You are such a good representative of your home country to have taken time to explicitly put down a very good advise in writing just to help someone avoid a mistake. Ride on brother.

princeolu254: EVEN THOUGH THEY DONT NEED GERMAN FOR STUDY IT IS OBVIOUS GOING TO GERMANY NOT HAVING ANY IDEA ABOUT THE LANGUAGE...KNOWING TOO WELL THAT 80% OF THEIR LIFE DEPENDS ON IT..............BETTER ADVICE THEM TO LEARN THE LANGUAGE THAN GIVE THEM HOPE WHEN THE REALITY THERE IS DIFFERENT................
Actually if you have time to learn the basic part of the language, then is will be added advantage for you. If your program is fully taught in English, then you don't need English proficiency. The truth is that your English ends in the classroom. After classroom things na strictly German every where, in the bus, train, sign post, work place, hostel, neighbors, street, supermarket, application forms etc. Though some Germans speak English and can help you out.

I didn't say you should speak fluently but try to understand and speak basic ones first. Most schools here will take u extra classes on that. Don't let the language issue bother you but take it as a challenge to learn it when you come here cos the language is more important than English here just as English is more important than German language in Nigeria.

As for me the study work load does not give me time to learn the language the way i wanted coupled with the fact that i only speak English in classroom. I'm even learning faster at work place where I hear people speak it everyday.

joyoftheLord: Hi Friends, i went to Book emirate to Frankfurt but was asked to Book for returned, and not one way. He said since d student visa is 3 months (which will later be extended), dat i need to get a return ticket which is about 172k else i Might not be allowed to Fly at d check Point. Pls, those who purchased emirate, did u Book one way for d 3 months visa? Secondly, pls which other Airline can allow me to Fly one way from Lagos to Frankfurt even at a cheaper rate? Thanks Friends.
it's a business strategy to sale more tickets. My guy that just landed in Germany this week via same Emirate was told the same thing and he insist he wants one way ticket cos as a student he does not know when he will come back and there is no where it is writen in the airline terms and condition that you must book return so why wont they allow u check in except they are ready to refund your money. Pls dont fall mugu for them.

Angel Diamond: I flew Lufthansa..........my ticket was booked with a credit card in London........
My story: Before booking i asked a question on nairaland about showing card when checking in my luggage or boarding and someone said i will show the card because he or she was asked to show his own.....I called Lufthansa Lagos to confirm and i was told YES! i will show the card i used to book.....I told the lady that the card that will be used is not in my name and she advised i get the cash and pay myself......A popular boss here on nairaland also said they won`t ask.....
The card holder called Lufthansa London, and he was told that i do not need to show card, that they stopped asking for card since June 2012.....
I got confused and did not know which to follow.....as i would be flying from Nigeria.....
On the day of my departure, i was too carried away to remember the ticket was booked with a card not in my name.....It was when i landed i remembered no one asked atall.....
Atleast, i am sure now that Lufthansa does not ask for cards.........may be different for other airlines though....
I also booked Lufthansa from London with my Brother's credit card in Uk and i flew from Naija to Germany this year and nobody asked me for any cc. 2 times i flew Lufthansa now they dont ask. So book . The 2 airlines that must ask u is Qatar and Emirate. Its even writeen on their online payment portal. Though they remain the cheapest but their journey remains longer cos of transit things.

I don't know the law but I won't believe that a Visa Officer of a nation can be from another nationality.
maybe those blacks are citizen sha. U may be right. It was one black yoruba babe that interviewed me during my her acent was pure cos she speaks like them but her name was yoruba name. I attended a canadian education fair sometimes ago and the 2 whity said they are the only visa officers in cany Embassy and hence the reason for more delay as they receive huge application on daily basis.

It used to be like you said in the past, but recently, I know of a number of peeps(more than 50%) who used their parents and waited like hell before they got their medical calls...

@ a point, it was traced down to one's course of study which up till now is still under debate and has not been fully verified...

The whole stuff is just mysterious....

gaps in between studies also play a big role. You should be able to say what you have been doing in gaps in between your studies and they dont want to hear you are working except you are a graduate.
