Car Talk / Re: Pictures: Failed Brake Causes Fatal Accident In Abuja (at Viewers' Discretion) by kenmaro: 9:27am On Mar 07, 2015
So pathetic! this country, Nigeria, is a jungle. Just imagine how a severely injured accident victim is been conveyed to the hospital for treatment like an animal. The condition at which he is being transported is so unconducive and could aggravate his pains. This should have been done with ambulance along with some stabilizing treatment as he is being transported. This is why most emergency cases is always reported: "confirmed dead on arrival" in Nigeria. The road safety corp has ambulances but they do not use them for such purposes rather they are only paraded during political rallies and government functions. May God help Nigeria!

Business / Re: Ecobank ATM Paid Me Counterfeit by kenmaro: 9:28am On Feb 20, 2015
I have also been a victim too. My client withdrew over a million naira in the banking hall of UBA bank in Lagos to pay me. All the note(1000naira notes) bundles were sealed in a nylon pack. Only for me to discover a counterfeit perforated note in one of the packs while depositing the money in another bank. I took d note back to UBA but was surprisingly denied by the bank teller. Most Nigerian bank officials are criminally minded and suspicious. Always reconfirm your cash before u leave their presence no matter how large d amount even if it will take some extra time. Change we seek in Nigeria is not only in the govt and political sector, all of us, Nigerians, need a comphrensive individual change. Including all foreigners domicile in Nigeria.

I just got a Nokia lumia 530 dual SIM from Dubai through a friend, yesterday. it was properly sealed and well packaged, no damage on the packaging. I unpacked it, inserted the battery but when I switched it on, it came on but it freezed at the welcome point of language selection and the screen is not responding to any touch. I have removed the battery and restarted the phone severally but all to no avail. Below is a snap shot of the phone screen of the point where it freezed. Please, I need your assistance on what to do? And also, will the Nokia care centre at Ikeja attend to my complaint since it's warranty is limited within the UAE region?

Politics / Re: FG Will Pay Fuel Subsidy For 40 Days – Alison Madueke by kenmaro: 8:36am On Jan 24, 2015
If the government of Nigeria should be sincere? There is no subsidy on petrol anytime. PPRA is saying that with the N10 reduction on pump price, the government is now subsidizing at N2.84. Which means that when the crude price dropped Nigerians were overpaying with N7.16. What stopped the government to wait until Nigerians cried for a price reduction before they effected the N10 reduction? Also, the refined petroleum products are presumed bought/imported from an open market where prices vary base on the point of refining, how come Nigerian government has a fixed subsidized figure when we know that the cost of production in and haulage from Venezuela, Qatar, USA, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and etc cannot be thesame with the fact that importers of petroleum products will definitely buy/import from a less expensive source/ country?

Moreover, if one checks the total figure expended on the assumed subsidy payment and reinvestment, you would note that the total amount in 2years would be enough to put atleast warri and Portharcourt refineries in working order and importation of refined products will be history. But, the truth is they won't because it will mean that petroleum products importers will be out of business and the return on investment on local production haulage will be low for the importers. Also, the government will not have a genuine source to embezzle public funds. Nigerian government is deceit!

Car Talk / Re: Hissing Sound Wen Steering My Car; What's Wrong by kenmaro: 6:51am On Dec 13, 2014
It is normal. It's even stated in some car manuals that you should not leave the steering turned to the extreme for too long. My car does it too when it's turned to extreme.
Car Talk / Re: Could This Be True Of Mobil Oil by kenmaro: 4:09pm On Oct 29, 2014
hazvat:
thanks bro. already observing the oil now. still intact. but what is PCV in our local usage?

I don't know the local name for PCV but once you can locate it in your car then u could test it to see if it's bad. It's mostly mounted close to the intake manifold. It's a cheap part.
How to test it: Air is not supposed to flow through either ways, air goes through one way while the way is obstructed.
Car Talk / Re: Could This Be True Of Mobil Oil by kenmaro: 12:56pm On Oct 28, 2014
First advice is to top-up the engine oil and observe if there is still a decrease in the oil level. Always check the floor of your park-lot for signs of oil drips on the floor. If there is still a significant decrease in the engine oil level without any leakages seen, then the culprit should be a bad PCV valve that is causing excessive oil consumption. Change the PCV valve and observe the difference. Most times, we ignore this cheap serviceable part (PCV valve) which is required to be changed after some specified intervals which could lead to extensive damages and expensive repairs.
Car Talk / Re: Tapping/Scrapping Sound After Oil Change 2001 Nissan Pathfinder HELP! by kenmaro: 9:07pm On Oct 09, 2014
It's the tappet valves. I guess the sound should stop after driving for a few days. An over-due oil service change interval and low oil lubrication is one of the causes too. Lets hope it stops.
Car Talk / Re: How Do I Completely Drain Fluid In Torque Converter? by kenmaro: 9:59am On Sep 27, 2014
ZIMDRILL:

do you know a torque converter?

Ofcourse i do. I have used this method and i was able to flush and replace all my old tranny fluids. You could google it up too. Also, you could use fluid exchanging machines to power flush and change all the old fluids completely though it's more expensive but it's available in selected outlets in Lagos.
Car Talk / Re: How Do I Completely Drain Fluid In Torque Converter? by kenmaro: 1:23pm On Sep 23, 2014
You could drain the fluid in torque converter but if your car mileage is above 80k, i will advice you just do normal drain, filter change, and refill. Flushing or power flushing high mileage trannys sometimes results to the tranny malfuctioning after the flush especially if the tranny atf has not been changed at anytime. After the normal drain, filter change, and refilling you have done, locate the hose outlet line taking atf from the tranny to the radiator cooler line, remove the clamps on the hose. Set a catch bowl underneath the car at the point of the hose, have someone to start the car, unplug the hose and put the gear in drive, old/dirty atf will start pumping out through the hose. Be very observant, as the dirty atf comes out you will notice it becomes cleaner gradually until you observe a more clean and translucent atf coming out then shut the engine and plug the hose back with the clamps attached properly and gauge the tranny atf. You could get the old/dirty atf (about a litre) trapped in the torque converter out through this method.

barthosa: Thanks guys, really appreciate the input. I haven't changed the module before so will probably have that checked too.
Unfortunately, I can't snap the engine bay showing the wires because an intercooler is sitting on top the engine and is very hot.
I use original iridium plugs
.
All I really need now is a good referral to a mechanic here in abuja that will trace all this issues and get I done.
Even the fuel pressure test. Don't know where to do it. By the way, the car has another high pressure pump mounted on the engine to engine adequate supply. I tried remove the electrical socket on the body to check if it's working, and I confirmed working as the rrough idling increased and ticking sounds from the engine stopped.
Please guys I need a good mechanic in abuja.
Mr ikenna . I know you deal on Peugeot, if u can help me out, please do.
Thanks everyone.

It's not all about using original iridium spark plugs. From experience in my 2007 mazda 6i, I used the right original bosch iridium spark plugs and AC Delco iridium spark plugs that i got from the USA yet my car didn't perform well not until i got the OEM recommended NGK laser iridium spark plug 3811 before the performance improved. I won't be surprise that all the problem you are having with your car is just a proper routine tune up. Most of these cars are so sensitive to some replacement service parts.
Car Talk / Re: Mazda Thread by kenmaro: 12:56pm On Sep 15, 2014
barthosa: Guys I just got it scanned. Came up with same codes. P0300. P0480 and P0481. My question now is why does it misfire after scanning and clearing of codes, because on my way back from the scan, the engine light flashes with lose of engine power. Had to park until it stopped. Drove home now without flashing. Meaning it has stored the misfire code again.
Please I need urgent help. The engine power is still superb when not misfiring. I can get 180km/hr in 30 seconds.

My brother, you have allowed naija mechanics to use your car as a simulating test machine for their practice. What you are having in ur mazda CX does not warrant any mechanic to go as far as changing your valves as a first start. I was having an intermittent check light and was getting either a P0300 or P0301 sometimes with rough idling at cold start. I did cleaned the fuel filter, cleaned maf sensor, changed air filter, and changed the air/fuel ratio sensor (top oxygen sensor) but it didn't help. Not until some two months ago after a long drive that i had a whistling sound coming from the engine bay, it turned out to be a leak at the plastic intake manifold gasket point by cylinder #1 as a result of a crack at the plastic intake manifold gasket sitting. I had the entire plastic intake manifold changed, two weeks after the manifold changed, because it had to relearn the system, my car drives good now. My fuel consumption is superb now and no more rough idling. The crack on the plastic intake manifold was caused by wear and tear process which caused heat expansion on the intake manifold which is built with plastic materials as obtainable in almost all modern cars.
Steps to take:
Carefully check for vacuum leaks around the intake lines & systems including possible leaks at the exhaust flange
Do u top-up engine oil at some interval because it's short, then inspect your pcv valve and check the pcv hose for any crack too.
Check ur ignition coils if they are in good condition.
For the jerk in motion, check the fuel pump pressure. Maybe the fuel pump pressure is weak which is giving an inconsistent fuel supply thereby requiring you to floor the gas pedal for more fuel supply to stop the jerk.
Also, be sure that you have the right spark plugs in there too. I would recommend OEM spark plugs and also do endeavor to use genuine brand new OEM replacement parts.

Please, i am having a similar issue like yours. Have you been able to rectify the fault? And what was the cause? Also, can a weak fuel pump with low fuel pressure cause it?

Do you have this "Airtex E8588M Fuel Pump" and how much is it?
Car Talk / Re: Mazda Thread by kenmaro: 8:59am On Aug 04, 2014
Prior to this, the services done was intake
manifold gasket change which I had to change twice Bcoz d stock pcv hose was ruptured during d first reinstallment so I had to remove d intake again to change d pcv valve & hose with brand new sets including intake gasket. it was even when I was hearing this hissing sound from d engine bay around d intake side that made me to suspect a ruptured pcv hose and at thesame time I started feeling d stumbling stuff. But now I have reinstalled new sets which I personally supervised to make sure it was properly reinstalled, which was done well but I still feel d stumble though it's less compared to before. The mechanic was like could it be d AC gas was overfilled which might be d stumbling cause Bcoz there
was a worn ac valve seal which was replaced and
d AC gas was flushed and refilled too. Also, I cleaned d egr valve
and reinstall with a new oem gasket.

sultaan:

You have the right spark plug try start the engine and disconnect the wires to the ignition coil on at a time see if there is any cylinder that makes no change to engine sound when disconnected. a cylinder that is not working will make no difference to the way engine runs. I am not looking for a bad coil since you just changed them, just the possibility that the ignition wires were connected to the wrong coil so it will be a possibility if 2 if the cylinders make no difference

Can you by any chance remember what happened to the car just before this problem started and maybe a couple of close range pics of the engine with engine cover removed ,looking for unusual loose wires/hoses
