Aufbauh: We'll keep on supporting our gallant troops regardless of the challenges and unpatriotic utterances from unscrupulous elements.
To habitually doubt good news, yet never hesitant about embracing bad news, is an eloquent proof of the state of mind of a self defeatist person. Those people you are targeting with your statement are not the problem here. Are they the ones that told Buhari to pamper the bandits? If Buhari has done what is expected of him from the beginning, we wouldn't get to this stage. You guys shield Buhari who is the commander of all security forces but attack those whose only power is their mouth. Unfortunately mouth is not what fights terrorism, the security forces do and fortunately Buhari is the commander |

SlyDev: If Nigeria want to make their money stronger, they need to stop importing and start manufacturing to export
But the last time Buhari closed border to boost local production, some bigots said he is targeting a tribe. How you run a manufacturing outfit in Nigeria before? Do you know they bottlenecks associated with manufacturing in Nigeria? You think you use mouth to manufacture. Talk is cheap. Tell Buhari to give Nigerians the enabling environment to help and make manufacturing easier. Manufacturing is not by mouth. |

aremuforlife: You don't compare 1naira to 1pound, you equivalent it the counterparts. Do you know why most businesses man and woman chose China as their market destination? China purposely devalue their currency. Like I said, 1pound can't fetch a plate meal, but you can get a plate of meal with #780 in Lagos and more in other part of the country, even cheaper FCT Going by your logic, Nigeria is on the right track. Buhari should do fast and make 1 pound equal to 1000 naira so that we can afford a plate of meal and extra with the money. The more you align with politicians, they more you lose ya senses. |

casiello: Let's hear him out rather than get defensive and sometimes aggressive. I have a feeling that the boredom he is expressing has to do with where he is living and doesn't apply broadly. However, it's hypocritical to just dismiss him. You didnt even enquire the province he's based in and you're responding hashly to him. No country in this world is 100 percent exciting.. The idea of this thread is to discuss the good bad and ugly of living in canada after all. Don't dismiss his comments please. We are here to help each other irrespective of whether you're in Canada or a prospect. It's like you haven't been observing this travel section lately. Some anti abroad people push some assertions just to achieve one thing and that is to begin arguments about Nigeria is better than abroad bullshit. They no longer come direct cos people will jump and pass, they now make it look like they are asking, talking or inquiring about something genuine but the end game is to start an argument to push their narrative. The issue of boredom is as clear as daylight for any serious person. A non yoruba person who has lived in Lagos all his life and suddenly finds himself living in Ogbomosho or any non multicultural towns will certainly be bored. A non igbo person who suddenly gets to live in Nsukka will definitely be bored there. Even at that, people with an outgoing type of personality still try to make it happen for themselves. Are we now going to make it an issue and say Nigeria is boring? I'm not saying the person that talked about boredom is in that category, I'm giving you an example of why the reaction is what it is. |

Dollywood: So nobody's going to talk about how boring and depressing living in Canada can be. I sometimes don't know the essence of this thread, only talks about assistance of visa applications, and so on. I can understand the boring aspect but majority are not in that category. It depends on where you live and your social interaction even before coming to Canada. I went to Stratford Ontario one day and I was wondering what life will be for any Nigerian who live there. It is a small city/town with probably 98% whites and these are conservative whites not ya liberal whites like you have in multi cultural cities. So if you live in those kind of places, it definitely going to be boring. There is no Nigerian or even African community there. However I don't think anyone will be bored in places like Toronto, GTA, Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge, London, Ottawa in Ontario. I have never been bored. In fact, my social life improved in Canada. Before covid, there was never a dull moment except during the winter months and even at that, we still do ice skating. This summer, I did 2 barbecue events and attended 6 different more barbecues hosted by fellow Nigerians even with the covid wahala But if someone situation gets to a point of depression, abeg just go back to Nigeria. This is because your mental health will be affected and it is not worth it. |

You are partly right but I won't blame them. It is the same brain God gave everyone. They used their brain to steal from other countries to develop themselves even till today. But other countries like Nigeria who were also given the same brain can't even steal from other countries to develop themselves instead they steal from within themselves to remain underdeveloped and also help countries like the UK to steal from them and develop themselves while they remain a shithole If we have to be critical about the situation, Who is worse? |

Why can't they allow them practice their own way? Anyway, I know Shiites will do the same thing to Sunnis if they were the majority. After all Iran does not give Sunnis space in Iran. |

Aufbauh: Many still don't understand the write up or the VAT debacle yet they want to write something. Nigerians are very sentimental people that is why we can hardly get things right.
However the proposal by the HoR is a welcome development as it will create soft landing for the over 30 states that are insolvent.
The bitter reality is that if States are to take control of their respective state VAT over 30 states of the federation can't meet up going by their current standing. Apart from Lagos, Rivers, Oyo, Ogun and one or two States in the SS including FCT, the remaining States are insolvent. Yet their indigenes won't allow us on nairaland about state control whereas their Governors are scared to stand on their own. That is the plan. Let those 30 states either sit up or perish. Whatever they choose will depend on them. Some states have good potentials but are too lazy or to disinterested to harness their resources cos there is a free money coming from somewhere. That has to stop |
