deScifa: Lol I'm not generalising that's why I used the word average. But when generality of a certain tribe shows certain disdain for another that can be termed as general views of that particular tribe. It is an understatement to say majority of Igbo people has this anti south west agenda and most of the sentiments are here on Nairaland for all to see. Judging Igbos by Nairaland comments shows inexperience. I have Yoruba friends and we've never had any ethnic-coloured misunderstanding. If you had real life Igbo friends, you would have known that what you see on Nairaland is far from reality. If Igbos are really as difficult as some of you assume, how come there are Igbos scattered in all the nooks and crannies of the world, and we don't often hear of real life confrontations between Igbos and other tribes? Do you think it's only in Lagos that Igbos live? Even in the most remote parts of the different states in Nigeria, there are always Igbo men. Go into the real world, relate with Igbo men and see your perspective change. What you call anti-southwest agenda is mainly due to differing political leanings. Igbos are pro-PDP and Yorubas are pro-APC, and just as APC and PDP never agree, that's why it seems like Igbos and Yorubas never agree. It not that Igbos hate Yorubas as a tribe. It's just the resentment for APC that manifests. |

QMNIX: Please stop preaching. when the Government on behalf of Fulani herdsmen, Miyatti asked for Lands for cattle ranching did your governors remember we are one Nigeria but they all resisted claiming that the herdsmen will be difficult to control and can even take over the area. So tell me what is the difference between we yorubas protecting our dear Lagos for you Igbos and your governors reaction to cattle ranching. we are even magnanimous to have live so long with the igbos tolerating their excesses. My question again if the table were turned, you guys will do much worse just as you are doing right now in your states. when I mean IGBO, i don't mean all the Igbo( the ipob fans and their sympathizers) excluding those once who respect other tribes and love Nigeria. It's unfair to make it seem like the cattle colony ish is only a concern to Igbos. Even Yorubas equally refused to give out the lands. Almost all Yoruba governors went against it. What people were saying is that cattle rearing is a private business. The herdsmen should go and buy land for their ranches. Nobody will hinder them. Plots of land are being sold in Awka, Enugu, Owerri, Abakaliki etc. Anybody can go and buy. The lands on which Igbos build their houses in Lagos, Abuja, Kano etc, they buy them. Even the shops they own in many major markets all over Nigeria, they either buy or rent them. But for the FG to use their position to claim massive hectares of land and give it to herdsmen who are all Fulanis is what people don't want, cos those hectares of land will in the future become Fulani provinces. I think it's simple to appreciate. If which tables were turned? Have you ever heard that any Yoruba person was bullied in any part of Igbo land? I am sure you will know one or 2 Yoruba guys or ladies that did NYSC in Igbo land. You can go and ask them how they lived among Igbos in the East. Igbos welcome strangers very well and tolerate them. The only 'issue' with Igbos is that they have so much drive for success which often seems like arrogance. That is the reason why it may seem like they've come to challenge you in your home land, and many people hate it. It's nothing but a love for competition. If you can compete, then they are game. |

deScifa: You have some points. But the day Sadiq Khan tells UK London is a no man's land or Obama and his people shows disdain for there host that's the very moment they start to loose right and opportunities that should naturally accord to them. You don't show disgust and hatred for your host the way an average Igbo man does and expect them to continue to treat you with fairness. Instead of building bridges an average Igbo is blinded with ego and sentiments. Which useless disdain are you talking about? If you live in Lagos, how many times have you seen Igbos in Lagos breaking rules? How many of them fail to pay their taxes? How many of them flagrantly break the laws of the land? People are free to say anything they want to say online. Many of the people that even shout online don't live in Lagos. You don't judge people that live, work and conduct their activities lawfully in Lagos by the actions of unknown people online. Apart from that, is Nigeria no longer a single, united country? Can a London man tell a Manchester man that he doesn't have a right in London? Even a Scottish man can be anything he wants to be in London. Nobody will tell him that he's not English but Scottish. The whole talk about no man's land wouldn't have arisen in the first place, in a sane and decent society. If not that Yorubas keep reminding Igbos that they don't have any right in Lagos, that they can't aspire for offices in Lagos, that they cannot freely vote for whoever they want and all such nonsense, who would have been talking about no man's land? The day Yorubas want Lagos to solely belong to them and Igbos will no longer have any right, then they are saying that Nigeria has ceased to become a nation. Everybody can then go their separate ways. That's the way it should be ideally, but because Nigeria is still far from civilization, that's why you hear all these rubbish like "go back to your villages". How can a man born and raised in Ogbomosho, who has never lived in Lagos be telling another man born and raised in Lagos that he doesn't have any right in Lagos? This sort of nonsense can only happen in countries far from civilization! |

sarrki: I recall Tinubu as governor. He appointed Igbos to his cabinet. Ben Akabueze who does national planing for Buhari, once did same for Lagos.
Tinubu had a spelling competition for young lads. Whoever won, was made governor for Lagos for a day. As in Tinubu literally vacated Alausa for the champ. He or she would travel with DSS escorts in Tinubus armoured jeep and wear his trademark cap, and seat on his seat. I recall, a certain Ebuka was the first beneficiary of this gesture. You need to see how Tinubu and his wife feted that boy. I was jealous.
Say what you like about Tinubu and Lagos, I've never witnessed large scale discrimination against Igbos.
Go to Lagos inland revenue service, you'd see Igbos working there. Are there no better educated Yorubas? Yet, Igbos are given some consideration.
I witnessed same in Ogun state.
Maybe, it's all these things that will make someone begin to imagine that Lagos is no man's land.
Lagos must Be protected The greatest cities in the world usually have a heterogenous population of people. Yorubas alone couldn't have made Lagos what it is today. Even the massive population of Lagos which gives it one of its bragging rights is contributed to a large extent by Igbos and all other Nigerians. Much of the amenities Lagos enjoys were built to service all Nigerians. Stop thinking like a 17th Century African. Think like a 21st Century human living in a modern world. The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan is Pakistani - British man. Obama is a Kenyan American. These are the realities of the modern world. Igbos shouldn't only be good for paying taxes in Lagos. They should be able to live and work comfortably in any sector in Lagos too. Some of them were born and raised there while some of you that make noise on social media have never lived in Lagos for even a month. You're not more Lagos than they are. |

gobuchinny: This is a very ignorant post..y r you acting like Oyedepo is doing Nigeria a favour? don't you know the person that benefits most from this is Oyedepo? is the school free? is the school subsidised?
This a business like any other business..i know because my family owns a school in Lagos that generates million every quarter...what is all this rubbish like we should clap that a great thing has been done..
These schools are built with tithe and offerings of the people and privatised to personal business and you are here talking like a great thing was done..should we clap for him If those people didn't pay the tithe and give the offerings, there wouldn't be these schools today. Those same people may not have been richer today cos they would have spent the same tithe and offering money on something else. The addition of these schools is a great boost to the Nigerian educational system. I can also bet you that these schools will most likely have a far better standard than the average government owned schools in their localities. Whether built with tithe and offering money or his personal money, whether expensive or free, Oyedepo should be commended for his massive investment in education. Look at Covenant already among the top 3 universities in Nigeria. It's a thing of pride. The government compulsorily collects tax from all the working class citizens and the money is squandered by a few. Oyedepo collects tithe from a few Winners members out of their own choice and invests the money massively, yet people are complaining. |

I have said it before the election and i will say it anytime again and again, Buhari does not need the Igbos to be president. Igbos can hate as much as they want Buhari is ruling this country for another four years, if they like they can all pack and go to Cameron for Atiku to rule them there. Buhari doesn't even need Yorubas to be president as evidenced by the last election results. Even if the SW states gave him only 500k votes (as against the 2.04 million votes they gave him) and gave Atiku 3.2 million (as against the 1.78 million they gave him), Buhari would still have won the election. The North just made the entire South realise that they can win the election all by themselves. If you're not from the North, there's no need for all these bragging. |

Asiwaju has been out of power for over a decade but still relevant and powerful. The overrated pompous saraki whose political sagacity has been about his ability to betray and backstab has been deleted into the trash can of national politics. I hope the Federal government bares it's fangs on saraki and use him as a scapegoat for upcoming dubious charlatans Guy, forget! He will definitely rise back to power. Orji Uzor Kalu had been facing defeats since his tenure ended as governor. Twice he contested for elections and lost. Didn't he just win a senatorial seat? Fayose was defeated by Fayemi, yet he bounced back and defeated him after 4 years. The same Fayemi bounced back again after his loss. Ribadu joined PDP and people said that was the end of his political life. Isn't he among the most relevant people in Adamawa APC today? Kwankwaso was defeated by Shekarau. It took him 8 years to bounce back to power. Another 8 years later, he has lost out. Nobody can say what will happen to him in the next 4 or 8 years time. I have given all these examples just to let you know that it's too early to decide the future of Saraki. Just let the new people that have gained the power manage it first. In the next 4 years, Kwarans will decide if the new guys are truly better. That's how Kogi people were desperate to end the rule of PDP in their state. They got what they wanted, but have never rested since Yahaya Bello came into power. Let's not be too much in a hurry to conclude that it's over for Saraki. |

bender79: Atiku should have picked a SW VP. Would that have made him win? Even if he had Buhari's SW votes and Buhari had his, he would still lose. The people that made him win are NE and NW electorates, and I don't think having a Yoruba man on his ticket would have made much difference to their voting pattern. |

fiizznation: Don't be silly please. Who named the stadium 'sani abacha', the people of kano state or the government/military regime?
Mohammed abacha has been contesting for the governorship of kano state for about 12yrs now, and in any election he doesn't even get the 2nd position because people don't usually vote for him simply because of his late father's 'atrocity'.
We don't reward corruption here in the north, understand this. But Buhari said Abacha didn't steal anything. Buhari was Abacha's right hand man. How come Abacha was corrupt and Buhari is a man of integrity? |

BaaleOko: Maybe you're right, but on a comparative scale a Tambuwal would have done way better in the North. But at the end it would take a very special type of politician to beat Buhari in the North... as much as I don't like his administration, I have to admit he's a man greatly admired and loved by his people in the North. You're right. I detest his administration to my marrows, but I've now confirmed that Northerners don't joke with him. APC should start planning for the future early enough because by 2023 when he will no longer be eligible to contest, I wonder how they can mobilize supporters for another victory. He's obviously the sole reason for APC's victory. |
